It's a small lounge, but the ambience is great - modern and well thought out. The little outdoor space is cute and great for nice weather days. Servers behind the bar and food counters were friendly and upbeat. The food was surprisingly good! They had a much better selection of fresh veggies and salad bar items than we've seen at other Sky clubs. The food was always coming out hot and fresh. Would make it a point to come here every time we are at this airport in the future.

And the lounge is beautiful. Tall windows, lots of marble, high ceilings. And it probably is the best in the country. But I was actually amazed at how nice the Austin lounge was and how much I liked it compared. Though smaller than the LGA lounge and not as shiny as Chicago, it is modern and updated. It seems pretty perfect for a quirky south/western town like Austin. Several seating options, most of them in front of large windows. Big, open eating area. And the best of all, they have an outdoor lounge with big screen TVs. If you can handle some plane noise and a little jet fuel, it's a great place to enjoy some soft Texas breezes. The buffet here is one of the better ones I've experienced as well. Lots of cool dips, corn salads, veggies. Also offers things like grilled chicken. Wasn't crowded at all on a Tuesday and everyone was spaced out. Didn't feel cramped or busy at all. And the attendants at the front were super nice and welcoming. This is one of my favorite lounge experiences.

Lo and behold our gate was right across from the Departure Lounge. The DP has a good sized bar, some high tops and a tables. We scored two tables adjacent to the concourse and as expected this location is great for people watching. Lite food offerings are also available. Our cocktails were surprisingly hefty and our better half's were raving about their Palomas. Even though they were very busy table service was excellent. Like every other airport venue prices are high but hey c'est la vie.

Server brought the new drink back and said she put just a little vermouth in this time. Tolerable, but frustrating. Decided to try the pulled bbq brisket grilled cheese. Sandwich is warmed in the oven, not toasted or grilled. Brisket was chopped with sauce on the side. When I questioned it, I was told that's how it comes, so I asked for silverware and a napkin so I could at least eat the filling, was again told "that's how it comes" and the waitress walked away. Then had to ask to cash out 3 times & the bartender still wouldn't run my card and made the server do it. Very disappointing experience and service.

It's becoming our after work spot to grab a bite before going to a concert. I've still only gotten the Mini Filet Sandwiches which is center cut filet mignon on toasted brioche buns, Shaft's blue cheese, and onion Jam. I think I even got the same drink last time, the Spicy Margarita with El Jimador Tequila, Patrón Citrónge, fresh lime, jalapeño. It's so good! And the filet minon is $12 and the drink is $10. Even the free bread and butter is amazing sourdough with something added to the butter (maybe cinnamon, I'm not sure). We always just go casual and sit at the bar which is dark and moody but with friendly staff at the place that is typically a fancier dining experience. I had hoped we would get an outdoor table to appreciate the view but all tables were booked when I made the reservation and were still booked when we got there a bit early. It was also overcast that day. Even though we were a bit early, they were able to seat us quickly. We ended up just having drinks and one side item (yummy squash dish). We made the decision to leave before a full meal because the menu wasn't as vegetarian and gluten free friendly as we'd thought it might be. Danny was our waiter and he was very understanding! He gave us several great drink recommendations. We all very much enjoyed our cocktails and mocktail with a side appetizer of squash. We appreciated the discount on valet parking if you eat at Nido and get your ticket validated. I'm sure I'll be back here on a sunny day and book far enough in advance to sit outside.

The cocktails were delicious, although definitely on the pricey side. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. The portions were extremely small, and the prices felt very steep for both the quality and the amount served. While the presentation was nice, the taste simply didn't justify the cost. On top of that, having to pay $15 for valet added even more to an already expensive evening. Overall, Nido is worth visiting once for the views and a cocktail, but I personally wouldn't return for dinner. There are plenty of other spots in Austin that offer much better value for the price.

The hidden benefit is that I often have lots of extra time to stroll the concourse, get some steps in & blood flow going, and check out the interesting innovations, public art installations, and local flavor of the airports on my itinerary. Imagine my delight to find this little pocket of whimsy at the east end of the Barbara Jordan Terminal near Gate 14 (as if you're headed toward Delta and the Public Patio). The first indication of mystery is the infinity symbol on an overhead sign that would otherwise name a vendor or amenity. I simply had to stop & check it out.
