An LG refrigerator was purchased at ABC Warehouse on a Saturday. Delivery, installation, old refrigerator pick up and an extended warranty were purchased. The refrigerator was delivered damaged. It was rejected and a second refrigerator was scheduled for delivery the next day between 12 and 5 pm. We had to call 40 minutes before 5 pm to see if it would be delivered. They are supposed to call the customer. The salesperson called the delivery person and it arrived at 4:45 pm. The delivery person stated he had to remove the storm door in order to get the product into the house. The dimensions of the refrigerator and entrances were measured before the purchase. The manufacturer's label on the product and the carton it is shipped in specifically states the doors of the refrigerator must be removed for entrance ways smaller than 34". When the refrigerator was finally brought into the house it was placed in the dining room and the delivery person measured the refrigerator and the entrance ways. He stated the refrigerator was too large and he could not install it. He stated I would have to remove the doorway casing to get the refrigerator into the kitchen and there was nothing he could do. We were led to believe that the LG refrigerator could not be installed without extensive carpentry work. I told him to leave if there was nothing to be done and I would call and speak to a manager. They also left the cardboard container on wet grass in the front of the house and drove off. Our old refrigerator was almost the exact dimensions of the new one and was sitting on the front porch with the doors off. My son and I read the instructions on the front of the refrigerator, removed the doors as instructed and had about 3 inches of space for the refrigerator to be placed in the kitchen. When I contacted a manger named Ed he apologized and said he would take care of it. There was no statement that he would have someone check the installation or provide any support. I contacted their heart line help and asked to speak to a manager.
The failure to deliver, install and level the refrigerator was ignored and could have voided the limited manufacturer warranty. They didn't even understand the warranty of products they sell. They offered to pick up the refrigerator and refund all costs that would take 14 to 21 days to process. Home Depot solf the same product but it was $400.00 more expensive and had a delivery date that was about 7 days after the purchase. We had already lost most of the food in the old refrigerator (it still worked but the temperature was above 40 degrees but below that in the freezer part). It was an older unit and would not have gotten to safe levels if we tried to put the doors back on and plug it in. We were living out of an Igloo cooler for 2 days because of ABC Warehouse. It would have been 7-10 days if we let them come into our house and take it back. The LG refrigerator was misrepresented even with the instructions posted on the box. ABC corporate stated they would refund us and pay for the damaged food. We wanted them to pay the $86.00 difference between their worthless extended warranty and the LG extended warranty. They delivered a damaged refrigerator, removed our front door, left the carton on the wet grass, left the uninstalled refrigerator in the dining room and expect us to believe they can honor the extended warranty. Such things should be reported to the BBB and even consider your District Attorney's Office under Consumer Protection. Don't let them manipulate you. Report them. To date we have not been refunded and are pursuing this matter as aggressively as we can. read more
