    Let me start by saying I wish I would have contacted Great Lakes Appliance first. Our dryer stopped…read moreheating up and therefore was not drying our clothes properly. As this is one of the appliances covered under DTE's Home Protection Plus plan we have I contacted them and they sent out a company called Phil's Services. They came out on August 25th and said some parts needed to be ordered to complete the repair and they should be in in around 3 to 7 days and that someone would call me to schedule an appointment to have them installed. Weeks go by and no one from Phil's had called me so I take it upon myself to call and see what the hold up is. I am told I need to speak with their Parts Department, but no one was available and they'd call me back shortly. The following day someone finally calls me back and says the parts are on their way and should be in within 3 days. I said "Great, let's schedule an appointment now for you to come out and install them." and the guy tells me he can't do that until the parts actually come in. Two more weeks have gone by and no one from Phil's had called me back. Fed up and aggravated beyond belief I contacted DTE and they sincerely apologized for the troubles and said they would send out someone from Great Lakes and they were a much better company to deal with than Phil's. The tech was scheduled between 1:00PM and 2:00PM, but actually showed up early. Kudos to that! My only small complaint is he didn't call to let me know he was on his way. Luckily I work from home so I was here. No big problem. I explained everything that had been going on with Phil's and he seemed genuinely shocked. According to him he said that both the flame sensor and coils that were originally diagnosed as the problem per Phil's are very common parts any HVAC tech should have on hand in their truck and the issue should have been fixed that day. If they don't have them in their truck then their shop most certainly does. The fact I had to wait a month and never got a call back from Phil's was truly unacceptable. He then went on to tell me that it didn't even look like the tech from Phil's even opened up the dryer to see what was wrong and just took an educated guess at the problem. Reason being is that of the two parts that were needing to be replaced per Phil's, only one was actually bad which were the coils. Not more than 15 minutes later he had the part replaced and the dryer working again. Thank God for Great Lakes Appliance. They will most certainly get my business again if a problem ever arises.

    I had a problem with a Whirlpool refrigerator that was 6 months past the one year warranty. Called…read moreWhirlpool and explained problem in detail and Whirlpool associate said it would qualify for a " special project" ( which translates to me as a known problem )and set up a service call. Appliance Repair confirmed a service ticket was generated. Received a text from AR confirming date. Technician called day of repair and advised when he would arrive within the given visit time window. Now to the 5 star rating. Opened fridge door and immediately advised me problem was not eligible for the " program" and read his service ticket and my comments were there word for word. Whirlpool associate should have known that. He continued to describe why the problem existed and said that it shouldn't occur this early into ownership of fridge and he would contact Whirlpool and explain problem. Which he did resulting in repair the next day that Whirlpool covered. When is the last time someone went out of his way and go the extra mile? in this day and age probably not in recent memory. But this man did and his effort was greatly appreciated. If this is any indication, and it probably is, of how they take care of a customer than I highly recommend them for any appliance problem you might have.

    The so-called technician who came out to do a simple replacement on my mom's refrigerator door not…read moreonly didn't replace the door but was very smug and unfriendly to my mom. He was being paid by Whirlpool for the labor to do the door replacement. He claimed there wasn't enough clearance to replace the door yet the existing door cleared fine. When I called the tech to question him on why he lied about the clearance and why he didn't finish the job he was very defensive and complained that I'm bothering him on his personal time. He had no regard for my lost time in having to follow up on this simple job and he wound up hanging up on me. I replaced the door myself in minutes with no issues at all. I am also contacting Whirlpool corporate to lodge a complaint with the way this was handled. Whirlpool needs to know the type of companies that are representing them. This company should not be one of them.

    WHAT EVER YOU DO, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!…read more Here is my experience for reference -- Would give zero stars if I could. Dryer was not working - no power to control panel even though drum light worked, so booked an appointment. Disclaimer was there is a $90 fee for sending a Tech which includes showing up plus diagnosing the issue. Then parts and labor to replace/fix would be incremental charges. All of which was reasonable to me, so I booked the appointment accordingly. The Tech showed up on a Monday. Said he first wanted to check (e.g. diagnose) the Thermo Fuse. Took the drum out to get to the fuse within literally 2 minutes to check fuse with electrical tester. Confirmed that the fuse was good and it was not the issue. Took 2 minutes to put drum back in. Was going to then check the control panel, but first tried turning dryer on again and it started working. I asked him what happened and he said he has no idea. He said he did nothing but check fuse with electrical tester, so we both chalked it up to dumb luck that it now works. Ended up charging me $130 ($90 for service fee & diagnosis + $40 for labor/parts). I paid him but the next day (Tuesday), spoke to Beth at A&E to question what the $40 labor/parts charge was for since the only thing the Tech did was diagnose the issue and did nothing to fix anything (unless dumb-luck is A&E's definition of "fixing" an issue for a customer). Beth said she would check with the Tech and contact me on Wednesday. I heard nothing from Beth or A&E Wednesday or Thursday, so I contacted the company on Friday. Beth then followed up with Tech and said "he said he will give you a refund of $20." I said I think I was overcharged $40 since nothing more than diagnosis ($90) was done. She said Service Manager Brian would contact me. Well, Brian called me and he was extremely rude and said he is not refunding anything and that HE WOULD HAVE CHARGED ME $150 (not $130). He said that the fact that "dumb luck" occurred while the Tech was in my home "diagnosing" the problem counts as A&E labor to fix the problem (not part of the $90 diagnosis fee). So for "dumb luck" to occur with the Tech inside my home for 5 minutes, A&E charges $40 labor (Service Manager Brian would again have charged me $60 for that coincidence). I regret ever contacting A&E; I've since been told by others that the company is horrible; so I want to share this experience with others so they don't make the same mistake I did in contacting A&E. And also would never want you to have to deal with Brian the Service Manager and his extremely rude behavior with customers.

The services that were "performed" by technician Ryan were subpar and did not result in the repair of any of the three appliances. I attempted to contact Macomb Appliance Repair by phone on multiple occasions to express my dissatisfaction and asked to have a different technician come to my home. I spoke with Chris who informed me that there was not another technician who could come to my area and I expressed dissatisfaction with this response. Chris then assured me that he would come out himself, but was a no-show on three different occasions. These are the issues I needed repaired and none of them were adequately handled: 1. Trash disposal I explained to Ryan that operation of the appliance did not pulverize the food nor wash it away. Ryan asked for ice cubes that he could use to test the operation of the disposal. The ice was crushed and moved through the drainpipe and therefore he deemed the disposal to be in working order. However, it was not at all repaired. The disposal problem continued until I paid another contractor to replace it with a new unit. 2. Wall oven The problem with the wall oven was that a code, F7, would be displayed and the oven beeped over and over until I hit reset. looked at the display pad and opened it to show the control panel. He stated that the button was sticking, cleared the F7, and declared that the problem was resolved. Once again, the appliance was not repaired. Since that time, the oven continues to show code F7 and beeps arbitrarily until it is reset. There are times when the beeping is unrelenting and can only be stopped when the oven door is left open. At this point the oven is inoperable 3. Dishwasher The reason for the repair was because the appliance was leaking. Ryan attempted to repair the leak, however the leaking was not fixed and resulted in a huge leak all over the kitchen floor. Additionally, Ryan detached a hose between the sink and dishwasher; unaware of this, I continued using the sink. After a few days I happened to go into the basement and discovered water was pouring through the floor and flooding the basement, resulting in significant cleanup and repair costs well beyond what I paid to Macomb Appliance. I had to purchase a new dishwasher to replace the leaky one. On the date of service, I wrote a check to Macomb Appliance Repair in the amount of $544.95. I admit that I should not have written the check to Macomb Appliance Repair on that day but I was led to believe the appliances were in working condition. I was naïve and too trusting. The check was promptly cashed. I was under the impression at that time that the dishwasher and oven were in working order. They were not. Since then I made multiple attempts to contact Macomb Appliance Repair. I was promised by an employee named Chris that he would come out to look at this. When he did not I made a phone call asking why he did not show up. He told me that he was very busy and couldn't make it to my home. He promised to come another day but did not, and dodged my subsequent attempts to set up a repair time. I paid $544.95 for nothing. No appliances were repaired and I ultimately replaced two of the three myself. This is unacceptable and at this point I expect a full refund. I attempted to call once again today and the call went to voicemail. However, the recorded message indicated the mailbox was full and could not accept any new messages. So much for that! I am disgusted by lack of response I've had from Macomb Appliance Repair. I beg any potential customer to avoid contacting this business.

    Avoid this place at all costs…read more 1) Service call is $120 where others are less 2) Gouges for repair - wanted to charge $475 to replace a control board on top of the$120 for service call. Called GE direct after bitching to them about this repair place. Tech said that the total cost for the entire repair would have been $275 with service call. 3) I was promised a phone call to discuss the issue within 2 days after making the call. A week has passed and no return call Seedy place, shoddy service, over-charging for parts and repair. I guess the owner needs to charge a lot for first time dealing with him, as I am sure he does not get a lot of repeat business.
