I ordered some appliances from another store (big mistake). They messed up the order. Went online--found Sargent (I live near Ann Arbor). Here's what I did find at Sargent......they have a pretty extensive in stock inventory---whih is what I needed since the workers were already at my house doing a kitchen remodel. I selected another cooktop--and got it at a great price. Got home with the cooktop and it didn't fit the opening.....called back to Sargent. John (at the Clinton store and one of the owners) got me a different cooktop (that does fit) and made it right.....right then and right there. I cannot say enough about this company--EXCEPT---now I know where I will START when I need another appliance in the future. These people are TERRIFIC to work with. I NEVER write reviews, but wanted to let anyone who reads this know they are dealing with a great company--and you get the service and attention you want and need when you are making important appliance decisions. I unfortunately cannot recommend Sargent Appliance. We purchased a brand-new GE dishwasher and paid $169 for professional installation. During the very first full cycle the day it was installed, the bottle-jet clips ended up on the bottom of the dishwasher, melted, and left a strong plastic odor. Our salesperson, Joe, explained that the clips can come loosely attached or sometimes be placed in the silverware basket, which only made me question why they weren't thoroughly checked and addressed during the professional installation we paid for. Joe also told us we could continue running the dishwasher. After plastic had already melted inside a brand-new appliance, I was absolutely not comfortable repeatedly running and essentially troubleshooting the dishwasher ourselves in hopes that the smell would go away. I didn't want to risk additional damage or potentially be held responsible for continuing to operate it after we knew there had been an issue, so we stopped using it. On 8/24, we were told someone would be coming to look at the dishwasher. My husband went into work late and I canceled my clients so we could be available, only to wait most of the day and eventually be told nobody was coming. After that experience, I felt much more comfortable requesting a brand-new replacement rather than continuing to troubleshoot a dishwasher we had just purchased. The paperwork we ultimately received documents that the clips were on the bottom of the dishwasher during the cycle and that there was an "alarming plastic odor," but then states that we were given the option to rectify the issue with the existing dishwasher and that the "customer wants new unit." While technically true, I don't believe that wording fully reflects the circumstances that led to our decision. This was not simply a customer preference for a different unit. We had just purchased a brand-new dishwasher and paid for professional installation, the bottle-jet clips had not been thoroughly checked and addressed, plastic melted during its first full cycle, and the proposed solution involved us continuing to run the dishwasher for additional cycles in hopes of eliminating the odor. We then lost a workday waiting for someone who never came. That is also why I made a point of following up with Sargent in writing, to ensure there was a clear record of what had occurred and why we were requesting a replacement. I appreciated that when I later dealt with Jake, he took our concerns seriously and confirmed in writing that the replacement installation team would make sure the new unit was properly installed and would address the bottle-jet clips during installation. The dishwasher was eventually replaced, but getting there continued to be frustrating. We repeatedly had to chase Sargent for updates. Even on replacement day, 9/4, we never received the promised morning call with our timeframe. Around noon, we had to call ourselves and were eventually given a 1-3 p.m. window, which ultimately turned into a 7:30 p.m. arrival with very little proactive communication. Jake was the exception throughout this experience. He was responsive, professional, documented things in writing, and actually helped us get this resolved. We genuinely appreciated his assistance. Had the bottle-jet clips been thoroughly checked and addressed during the original professional installation, this entire situation likely could have been avoided. Unfortunately, what began as an issue with a few plastic clips ultimately exposed just how disappointing the customer service, communication, and follow-through were once something went wrong. read more

The online ordering process was fine, the sales guy responded immediately. I ordered same day delivery but didn't get it and now I have to wait 5 days to be refunded the added fee I paid. The delivery guys were rude and disrespectful and anything BUT customer service oriented. They argued with me and blamed me because they didn't take the instructions given to them by me and the building manager on where to park. They threatened multiple times to not delivery the $2,000 machine we paid for. Given this, they are off my list for ever shopping here again. I did call and tell the store, of which I got the reply "wow, I've never gotten a complaint before. Sorry." read more

This is a very good local appliance store. They have a large selection of appliances, from high end to low end, from many different brands at good prices. Our salesman, Jake, spent a lot of time with us as we looked for a new refrigerator. We had already researched models online but being able to touch and explore them in person made us feel more confident in our choice. Another plus is that Sargent has its own crews (vs. contractors) to install and uninstall appliances. We had heard horror stories of contracted, big box store crews refusing to haul away refrigerators so a store with its own crews made us feel more secure. read more

Went into the store at 12pm on a Saturday, 2 days after Thanksgiving. Decided on the refrigerator we wanted at 12:15pm. Walked out the door with a delivery date of Monday the following Monday. Refrigerator was delivered and installation finished at 9:45AM Monday. So, less then 48 hours after purchasing our refrigerator(including a Sunday) it was installed and the old frig removed along with all packing material. The same refrigerator from Lowes/Home Depot/Best Buy was the same price, with delivery at least 3 additional days. Not sure how we can beat the price, the service or the convenience. read more

Absolutely the worst experience! We decided to support local small businesses to buy our dryer even though my husband works at Home Depot. Sargent Appliance is close to home so we decided to check them out. When we walked in there were 2 people at the front desk and 3 people whom I believe were sales people. No one greeted us, or looked up. After several minutes a salesman named Joe Mylarnek got up and greeted us. We told him we needed a dryer and asked if he had any recommendations. He basically told us that dryers were throw away appliances and their life expectancy isn't long. I asked about speedqueen. He said they were great with a good life expectancy. We looked at pricing and I had sticker shock. He showed us a floor model SpeedQueen that he said was in perfect condition for several hundred dollars less. He assured us that people do not mess with the floor models and it was in good shape. We decided to purchase it. It was to be delivered in 4 days between 2:30-430. It finally arrived at 645pm. After installing the dyer the installer couldn't get it started, he tried calling the salesman but he had already left for the day and made the comment that "he always leaves early " he got a hold of the store manager who told him that a technician would come out to look at it, they left. My husband happened to look at the door in the morning and noticed that the door switch was missing, wires were hanging out, he left a message with the store manager Jake who promptly called us back and said they had another SpeedQueen at another store and they will exchange the dryer. They said it would be delivered between 4-6. It arrived at 645pm and started up. They left. In the morning I used it, I heard a loud noise and opened the dryer and my clothes were all twisted up and wrapped around 2 bolts (a screen covering the bolts was missing) plus the dryer wasn't heating, just blowing cold air!! Another message left to the manager who promptly called back and said he would send a technician out. An hour later John the technician called and said for $100 more he would get us a new dryer in the box. At this point I have 2 loads of wet clothes. Have invested 2 full days so I reluctantly agreed. He said they would deliver the new one take the old one around 3. John was here just after 3, the dryer works. As they say #3 is a charm..... I'm giving 4 stars because John and Jake displayed great customer service in a very unfortunate situation. I was pleased with the timely response from the manager, the politeness of John the technician and delivery people. Joe the salesman was nice but feel maybe he wasn't honest about the floor model or should have made sure it was in working order before selling it! Would I go back to Sargent appliance? Probably not but the jury's still out............Lesson learned never buy a floor model! read more

I was told by many" go to Sargent you will get a good deal and excellent service" I found out the hard way that is not true. My wife and I bought a refrigerator, Gas range and over the range Microwave, all LG and all top of the line. our quest started by the first fridge not working, when I called to inform them of it they talked to me as a dummy and that I was doing something wrong. they finally sent another new fridge after I protested them sending a repair man out for a "brand new fridge" the second fridge same thing , again they thought it was my electrical in my house or I was doing something wrong, again after much discussion they said they had another one in the ware house and they were going to plug it in to make sure it worked then bring it out . mind you a week had passed and no stove yet and no fridge so I lost food from this situation. the one they plugged in at their warehouse did not work, three for three, they now had me go in and pick another fridge. I have lost 2 half days of work and now I had to go in and pick another fridge. I picked the same fridge but it had a few more bell to it, did I get a deal, you guess, NO. finally after almost 2 weeks I got my fridge . that day my range was supposed to come and be hooked up, I paid for installation for all my appliances, no range on the truck. after calling and yelling, my range arrived on the back of a pick up, and was hooked up but the door was dented and I was told they would order the door that day and it would be replaced quick. here we are over a week later and no new door. but here is the kicker. I was setting up the wifi on the new appliances, because i buy geeky things like that and these qualified. and to my surprise there was no wifi ability to the stove. I went to their website and put the model number I bought and it had wifi capabilities, the instruction book showed how to set it up, but it would not go to wifi mode. guess why? the stove was a 2022 model correct model number, but different serial number than the one I bought. again I called with this information, and their tech said that LG does not have a wifi stove, I said check the Sargents site it say that that model does have wifi. So wrapping this up I have 3 fridges delivered and I lost food that I had in cooler till new fridge arrived, my stove is a 2022 model and no wifi, and I bought a NEW wifi stove and not to mention the door was dented, and I still am getting no satisfaction for my aggravation. so if your reading this you may want to go else where, or take your chance and, maybe I just had bad luck. read more

I went to Sergeant because my washing machine was on its last leg. I was speaking to Keith Pfeiffer. I went ahead and purchased the washing machine and a dryer during the purchase to get the deal. Keith advised me that if anything happens with the loss of a dryer and washer, do not call the factory LG, call him first and he would take care of the issue. They will say what they have to say so they'll be fixed, or to just be honest even though you damaged it, just let us know and we will still get it fixed! I told Keith I purchased appliances here before for my late mother and we had issues, it happened 13 years ago so I'm hoping things go better. Obviously, I was wrong. My son was transferring clothes to the dryer and put too much pressure on the top of the dryer and damaged it. When I called, I talked to another salesperson. He said they will go ahead and fix it and he will let Keith know to put in an order. Meantime, I had a service because my washing machine wouldn't drink water. When I got a hold of Keith and told him what happened to the dryer and asked when they're going to put in an order, he refused to fix it, saying that because I did it. But you told me when I purchased the dryer and washing machine that anything happens or if I have done it, you guys would take care of it and fix it. Obviously, Keith Pfeiffer is a liar. I have learned my lesson to never buy anything from Sergeant again. Now, not only is my washing machine not draining water, but I also have a dent on the dryer. It's not even a month old appliances. Shame on you for doing my mom wrong, so shame on me for going back thinking you have changed. I would never ever do any business with Sergeant again. Now, if I have any other problems from this point onward, I won't bother calling Sergeant. I'll just call the manufacturer myself. It doesn't pay to be honest when you're dealing with a liar like Keith Pfeiffer! "Just be honest and we will get it fixed for you, just call us first." Keith is full of it. Purchased a refrigerator. Have had it for three days and so far only problem was to figure out where all the working bells and whistles were located. Manager and owner tried very hard to arrange a convenient delivery day and time. Communication with delivery company (was never told they used a contract company) needs to improve. Basically the delivery company's job was to deliver it, take the old refrigerator, install the new waterline and make sure the refrigerator and water dispenser worked. There be was ton of tape for us to remove and had to read the manual to see how everything worked. DELIVERY didn't come until 10:00 p.m. on Friday night The contract crew said that they got paid by the number of deliveries and we were the 24th delivery of the day. I had a few questions between two models and he answered my questions w a lot of knowledge and within 5 mins I had made my mind. He walked me through the washer, explained the delivery and I was out within 20 mins. Excellent customer service. My husband and I were down there last week looking for a black french door and worked with Jake he gave us some options that would work with our situation. He was very helpful. After taking the paperwork home on both we decided to look at a side by side instead and they had a couple on their website that would work. Jake had the next 2 days off but said if I needed more help to call and ask for the manager. I called on two separate days while Jake was off and both times I was told that no one could help me they were just too busy and I had to wait for Jake to come back. I did ask for the manager and the salesman who answered the phone said he was too busy also. That is really poor customer service and I was really upset that they could not answer the simple question to see if this refrigerator was in stock or could be ordered. I even explained that it was over an hour drive for us to just come down to see if they could even order this side by side. I got the feeling that once I started working with someone I no on else wanted to waste their time with us. The salesman on the phone even said as much. I did go to home depot and put an order in for one for delivery the first week of December. We went a long way to this store to get such poor service. I am really disappointed but if the other salespeople are any indication of the organizations views they won't care either. I gave this a 1 star because of Jake. read more

Ordered from the Rochester store. Got my delivery at 6:30 pm on a very windy night. After receiving a VERY generous tip the delivery people left all the boxes on my front lawn without telling me. I didn't notice the boxes until quite a bit later in the evening Also thanks to a windy evening styrofoam and plastic were blowing all around my neighborhood. So they couldn't have told me that they were leaving the boxes or dragged them to my garage for me??? When I called the store to discuss this the response was sorry about your luck but we told you we don't take boxes. NO ONE told me they would be leaving the boxes. Oh and the stove was damaged. Worst customer service ever! I purchased five appliances from Sargent's. in June of 2016. I let Sargent's know I had a problem with my GE range right from the start. They asked me to troubleshoot it various ways until their liability on the appliance lapsed. FYI - It's only a 10 day warranty you have with your appliances through Sargent. When I spoke to Jake, the manager at Sargent's, and asked if I could exchange my GE range he said I had it too long, the range was used and he could not sell it or he would have taken it back. He pretty much washed his hands of the problem and told me to contact GE directly as they were liable now. GE customer service twirled me around not wanting to take responsibility also. Through much tenacity on my part, GE agreed the GE range was defective and would send me a new one. I asked Jake at Sargent's if he now could take the brand new GE range I was receiving and exchange it for an upgrade. The burner was defective,. But, I also didn't like the poorly designed lip on the back of the range top which pushes your pots forward not allowing you to put two pots centered properly on the burners. The front, hot pot/pan dangerously protruding over the front of the range. Jake refused to take the brand new GE range back for an exchange for an upgrade. He was very unprofessional, and showed from beginning to end unconscionable customer service. My sales rep, John N., sold me three GE appliances that had an upcoming Slate Color rebate. John told me if I bought the appliances now when the rebate came up he would ring up my order again and apply the rebate. Time went by. I asked John about the status on my rebate. He told me the rebate came and went. John N. told me he would apply it to the next one. Although, he doesn't know when the next one is. I am still waiting on this rebate. If you bought an appliance from Sargent's and are having a problem, don't troubleshoot. Act fast! Return it before their 10 day warranty ends. If you are looking to to buy new appliances, don't buy from Sargent's. The way they've treated me I'd think they are ready to close operations. Worst service imaginable! Suggestions...Best Buy just expanded their appliance line to include high end appliances. I've always had great service there. Really, anywhere is better than Sargent. UPDATE Changing my one star review to a four star. Spoke with the owner of Sargent's, John Skolas. He resolved all my issues promptly and professionally. I was able to upgrade to a GE electric range. I absolutely love it. I also received a check in the mail from Sargent's for the amount promised from the rebate. I'm was grateful and impressed. read more

I recently purchased a Bosch 5 burner stainless steel gas stove top from Celeste. She asked me all the important questions regaring my cooking habits, so she could direct me to what would be the most suitable cooktop for my needs. She showed me all of my options, printed them out with the prices and said to look everything over and make a decision when I was ready. There was no high pressure, nor did she try and direct me to the most expensive one. I ordered my cooktop over the phone and they Bosch was offering a rebate of $50.00 on it, but it was the last day to submit it, so she filled out all the paper work and mailed it in for me. The stove top arrived timely and in perfect condition. It was a very nice experience. I am always looking to purchase from small businesses and keeping our sales and sales tax in the state of Michigan. With our depressed economy, this is the only way we can improve it for all even if it costs a few more dollars. Problems will always exist between the manufacturers stores, items not arriving on time, missing or damaged parts. As a customer, you should always give them them the opportunity to rectify the problem. The last thing the store wants is to lose a sale and get a bad reputation. After all this would the least you would want someone to do for you. read more

We had a very good experience two years ago but not so lucky this time. First, our salesperson neglected to give us options that resulted in us paying for services we did not need. We will take some of the blame because we were too trusting and didn't question or review the invoice properly. We called he sales associate and his attitude was "sorry", oh well. Second, the delivery men were very cordial, however, they seemed to be in a hurry. They left a huge refrigerator box in our garage instead of taking it with them. They did not ever tear it down. We bought a stacked Speed Queen washer and dryer. Price was competitive and we wanted to support local business. Sargent recommended a contractor to move gas line and dryer vent as previous unit was side by side. New unit was delivered for additional $39 on more than $2500 purchase and was 1.5 hours late. Gas line was wrong size. Dryer vent hook up would not have worked unless unit set out from the wall 10+ inches. My husband had to redo everything. Spoke with owner at Sargent. The best he could do was give us Speed Queen's 800 number and stand behind their contractor's shoddy work. To me, buying local ensures a level of customer service that Sargent fell very short of. If you choose to shop here, know that their good customer service ends the moment you pay for your purchase. read more

We had a refrigerator delivered today, 8/6/2020, as COVID cases are rising and the governor's order requires masks. Yet, NONE of our delivery people were wearing masks as they walked into our HOME! This is despite the fact that we wore masks to protect them. I cannot believe they did not have the common courtesy to do the same! Hi, I spent weeks looking for an upright freezer no luck. I called everywhere, no one had any. I had placed an order online with Home Depot thought it went through and they canceled it because they didn't have inventory. When I spoke to the tired associate, she just said that they wouldn't be getting any till July and she hung up. During these uncertain times the essential workers are doing the BEST they can. I was about to give up till I found John at the Clinton Township location. John was great and I mean great, not only did he find me one, it was delivered in two days! The day it was delivered two courteous and very professional gentlemen showed up, I only wish I had gotten their names to leave in this review. I purchased a GE double oven a few years ago based upon the recommendation of Celeste. In addition, I purchased the extended warranty offered from CPS. Michelle at Sargent oversees the paperwork for the extended policy. Completely useless and terrible at customer service. Once this policy is purchased it is you left fighting with CPS on repairs. The oven has broken five times and CPS refuses to replace the oven stating we do not have a lemon law in Michigan. The oven fan is a known defect. F97 is the failure code. Look it up and beware. One repair took 2 months to receive the part and repair the oven. My oven stopped working on Thanksgiving. Almost a year to the day from the last repair. Today, I received a call from GE stating they do not have the part and the repair call is cancelled. I was told if I did not purchase the extended warranty policy from CPS, GE may have replaced the oven. Really................ We were told to go to Sargent Appliance from our builder - Acadia Home Builders - we purchased 5 major appliances in February 2019 and put down a large deposit. Delivery was set for July 16, 2019 and I was told everything had been in since March 2019 and ready to be delivered. Our close date was pushed back 4 days and I called to reschedule the week before the 16th and was told no problem by Andrew, "all your stuff is just waiting here to be delivered, just call us when you close". I called on July 19th and let them know we were ready to schedule the delivery to the following Wednesday, July 24th, and we were told by Jake that 1/2 of the appliances were not in, I explained to him that was false, that Andrew had just confirmed the week before, that "all" the appliances were in - Jake said he didn't know why Andrew told me that. When I spoke to Andrew he said, "they had been sold to another customer and we would have to wait for the rest of our stuff to come in". What the heck? They never took them out of stock, sold them to another customer and that is where the entire thing blew up. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing; the Dad, John Skolas (who a very good friend of ours told us to ask for and said that he would take good care of us) took our order and deposit in February, the one son Andrew confirmed and scheduled the first delivery and confirmed "all" of our stuff was in just waiting for us to call for delivery; the other son Jake told us 3 of the 5 appliances we ordered were in stock, the other two were not and the fridge was delivered to us damaged - let's add more stress to a new home owner; John called my husband and asked what was going on and when my husband started to explain, he was cut off and told "well 1/2 your stuff is not even in" my husband hung up on him. I will never use Sargent Appliance again, we told them if they could not get our stuff ASAP we wanted all of our money back and would go elsewhere and they were only concerned about losing the sale, which I am assuming would hurt their store numbers, big deal; not even concerned that they completely ruined what was suppose to be a happy experience and on top of that, when I asked them to swing me a deal on a washer and dryer because of their screw up, they pretty much laughed in my face. So I walked into ABC Warehouse, picked out a washer and dryer and it was delivered the very next day and installed. John & Jake really don't care about the customer, they already had the bulk of our money and Andrew I believe was pretty frustrated with the entire situation but at the same time really never offered a good explanation as to how or why they kept our appliances in stock when the bulk of them had been paid for. He did make sure everything was delivered on Friday so we would not have to reschedule the installer. UGH!!! Nightmare! read more

Ordered 3 appliances. Two of three delivered after 5 weeks of waiting. One worked . One installed and did not work. Needed product service. At seven weeks the third product was picked up. Upon opening the damaged box, the product was found severely damaged. New product overnight to store. Now waiting for store to make contact to deliver replacement (5th day of waiting). Sales people are nice, store managers at this store need more training on delivering customer satisfaction. The managers seem to blame the customer for ordering products from this manager, like it's the customers fault. My feeling is that once this store get's your money, they don't care about you! Purchased a washer, dryer and dishwasher from them in the last 3 months. Sales people were great. Installation of the first two items was timely and professional. The last item (the dryer) was installed an hour and forty minutes late. BTW, paid for installation. Dryer vent is too large and restricted. When I called with my concern, (John supposedly an owner), told me (without seeing it), it was fine and that they do this all the time. Next he proceeded to try to convince me to repair it myself and that it's an easy fix. Then he suggested just pull the dryer out away from the wall a little. After raising my voice, he said he would send a service person out in another one of those wait windows. I refused. Piss poor service is what that is. Lost this customer! read more

I made a big error in paying for my appliances up front. Should have went with COD INSTEAD. I bought the appliances two weeks ago and no delivery. I have called three times and either I get a pat answer and/or no returning call. No wonder their rating is low. My bad read more
