I started using Universal a few years ago, But luckily…read morehaven't needed them in awhile! The staff comes out quickly and will warn you about emergency charges vs regular. I appreciate the knowledge the workers bring, they usually understand some of the older setups I have in my house and what they are the way they are. The staff is respectful, always covering shoes and explaining everything really well. Prices may be slightly higher than other places but having an expert install things correctly the first time is worth it. This round I had them replace a basement toilet, fix a not working faucet and diagnose water pressure issues.

Oh man, thank God for these guys. My friend's sewer was backing up in her basement, and she thought…read moreit was because her youngest had flushed butt wipes. Chris came out next day and snaked the drain all the way out to the road, and it ran clear. The cost for the Visit and the clean out was very reasonable! Chris suggested that if it happened again, she should have them come out and look with the camera. He thought maybe it was an old sewer cap that had fallen down there and was blocking the line. Sure enough, a couple weeks later, the sewer backed up again. So today (next day service), Arthur came out and sent a camera down.... they were right! it was an old sewer cap blocking the line! There's no real way to get it out easily, But Arthur managed, using a magnet. Immediately the sewer drained! so hopefully that is the end of that problem. the cost for today's visit was again incredibly reasonable. Good guys. Fast work. Well trained and knowledgeable! Very fair price! Highly recommend!

For anyone having MTP come out on a warranty call, I want to add some context after reading prior…read morereviews. MTP was the second contractor assigned for a leaking water heater. My experience with the warranty company has been extremely frustrating, but it's important not to place the warranty company's limitations and process failures on the contractor. The technician who came out was phenomenally observant, knowledgeable, and refreshingly honest. He explained what he saw clearly and professionally, without sugarcoating or upselling. I greatly appreciated that approach -- he told me what was actually going on, not what I wanted to hear. We ultimately chose a cash-out option, but that decision was driven by the complexity of coordinating separate floor repair with removal and reinstallation of the tank -- not because of anything MTP did wrong. It's also worth understanding how warranty work operates. Contractors like MTP are dispatched across large service areas, which can make scheduling challenging. As someone who also works across multiple counties, I understand that reality. Most importantly, warranty companies often do not cover reconnection or reinstallation costs the way homeowners reasonably expect. This is embedded in their contract language and results in "modifications" being classified as non-covered, even for like-for-like replacements. That is not the contractor trying to add charges -- it's how warranty companies structure coverage to limit their costs. Knowing this going in may save homeowners a lot of frustration. Based on my experience, MTP handled their part professionally and honestly, and I felt it was important to reflect that in a fair review.

Total trash company that makes most of its profit from contracting with American Home Warranty…read more They did absolutely nothing to fix the problem with my rattling garbage disposal. The garbage disposal should have been replaced. It wouldn't surprise me that part of their deal with American Home Warranty is to do the bare minimum rather than get the warranty company to pay for a full replacement. I ended up not renewing with American Home Warranty and won't use it again until it stops contracting with scam companies like More Than Plumbing. I hired an actual professional plumber who installed a new garbage disposal.

Instead of using elbows like the previous set up he just used straight copper so the pipes don't sit up against the wall and they are sticking out on an angle (I hope that's no issue in the future ) 2. he did not clean up after himself- he left the soldered silver pieces all over the sink. 3. He did not secure the faucet to the utility sink underneath with the screws so it was moving back and forth, 4. He unscrewed my fire alarm because the heat from soldering made it go off and he never put it back on!! 5. The left side is leaking where the faucet screws into the copper pipe. 6. He asked a "favor" that I give him 5 stars to get business with a story of how Google took down 150 reviews and he was sick last year. Now, the reason I chose him over other people is because of his reviews of " doing quality work, picking up after himself, competitive pricing " and now I feel like I got duped because I did not experience any of that , I feel like he may be a phony. Mike was nice but when I'm paying for a service I shouldn't have to pick up after you. Granted I understand maybe he wasn't small enough/ older to get under the utility sink and screw the faucet in place but he could have told me. There is no excuse for not screwing the fire alarm back in! What if I were elderly and was unable to clean up the metal pieces everywhere, screw in my faucet or screw my fire alarm back in. Of course I did not know any of this was an issue until I went to actually use the faucet - it moved forward and backward, the metal was all over and I look up and the fire alarm unplugged. This was not worth calling him back for as I could fix it and I'm not going to have him fix the leaking pipe either as I do not trust any longer.

Please, please, please DO NOT use this company! Steve came out to our Royal Oak rental home on…read moreNovember 20th to address a backed up drain in the basement. He snaked the laundry tub and two floor drains for $375. He also claimed there was no venting so he added an air admittance valve on the laundry drain for $375. I asked why Nelson or Roto Rooter never mentioned the venting before (and we have used them several times over the course of 25 years) he said "because they are not plumbers and don't know what they're doing". RED FLAG. Total was $750. Two weeks later, the drain backed-up again. This time I called Nelson Brothers. They came out immediately and removed two very large tree roots in under 15 minutes from the stack with a 3" cutter. When I asked Steve what he found when he snaked, he said 'paper wipes' (paper wipes are never used in the house). When I told him what Nelson found, he countered and said he pulled out 'a ton of stuff roots wipes paper'. I then asked if he showed what he removed to the renter, and he said 'I bagged it up and thru it out like I always do. I probably snake 10 - 15 houses a week so it's hard to remember each one and details.' I then told him it would be right, fair and honest to refund us the $375 for ineffective snaking and he said 'I don't know how you could know that'. He also said could come back out and jack hammer the basement floor to re-pipe and that comes with a 5-year warranty!!! When hiring him, I only looked at the Google reviews, not Yelp. Please take all these 1-star Yelp reviews seriously and save yourself a lot of time, frustration and money.
