Sargent Appliance stores used to be out go to store whenever furnishing new construction homes throughout Wayne and Oakland county- but that was when the original owner was still around. I miss the original owner as unfortunately his heir has apparently let the ship sink when it comes to reliability, quality, INTEGRITY, and overall customer satisfaction!!! SMH For starters, I urge EVERYONE to avoid signing up for the 'EXTENDED WARRANTY'- what you're paying for is for young, fresh out of high school kids who don't know anything about being PUNCTUAL and who have no shame in not even showing up for your simple appointments as agreed upon- so if you enjoy WASTING TIME, being lied to, and just throwing money away, then by all means sign up for their 'extended warranty' and learn the hard way if you like it like that? ALSO, I don't know that alot of these sales people do (whether you goto the Clinton Township store or the Rochester one)- oftentimes, they just stand around and don't really help new customers as they're browsing the floor models inside the store- and if you do end up purchasing an appliance, in particular one that has more than a 7 day waiting/fulfillment time frame, you can count on ONE THING to be consistent about these 'sales men/women'- they WILL NEVER CALL you when the item is in stock/ready to be shipped. So again if TIME and scheduling (simply HONESTY) is important to you, then steer clear from Sargent Appliance- they have no shame in either LYING to you or in wasting your time!!! SMH read more

Sargents did a good and quick job delivering the Maytag dishwasher. However, the Maytag dishwasher had a leak and it still sounds like a wounded animal after Maytag service has been at our house 3 times. Now, they have ordered a bunch of parts to try to fix it by replacement. I gave the Maytag reference number to the Sargent's sales person hoping they could get help with their Maytag rep. But I never heard back from the Sargent sales person. Do NOT buy a Maytag dishwasher. read more

We've had to visit here twice in the past few months, first for a new washing machine and then of course the second time for the matching dryer. Each time we had great service for sales and for install. They had both the washing machine and the dryer in stock and were able to install within a few days. The dryer was actually the next day. Prices are better than at other places. We researched the dryer in their website before we went in and we actually got a better price than what was online. read more

After seeing it advertised as being in stock on your website yesterday, we called to inquire about a chest freezer. The man who answered the phone proceeded to laugh at us, brag about the seven he had in stock in March that he marked up an extra $100.00 and still sold in one day, and they get an average of 30 calls per day. He said we must be desperate for calling them. Well we don't need your waiting list as we ordered one on Amazon that will be delivered 8/25. Seeing that our family has spent tens of thousands of dollars with you over the years we were disappointed as we prefer to shop local. Bought 2 major appliances, made the mistake of paying in full. Waited 2 weeks after estimated time due to Covid, asking what the delay was. Said it was in and would deliver the next day. Happened with both appliances, they to not call when your order is in. Delivered refrigerator, needed to change door handle to other side (was never told about additional charge) while I inspected, I opened the door and a screw fell on the floor ( told it was an extra screw). The door swung open not closed. (I was told they don't make them like they use to and that my floor was not level) the refrigerator they took out did not have that problem. ( My 75 year husband fixed in 15 minutes) I ran my hand on the top and the door hinge cover fell off. (Told he would order a new one because it's suppose to snap on.....I said what about the screw that fell....he insisted that it snaps on). Waited weeks for the part, called and was told they would check. Again waited weeks and was told they would check and call me back, no return call. Waited weeks again and asked how can they stay in business? Received the part 2 days later, IT WAS THE WRONG COLOR AND DID NOT SNAP ON IT SCREWED ON. I will never purchase anything from this company again! I spent $4000 for brand new appliances for the condo. Let me list the problems - 1. The appliances were delivered to my former address after specifically changing my address with my salesman, Tony at the Hall Rd store. 2. After giving Tony the measurements for the opening for the refrigerator, he recommended the top model, most expensive one for me. Upon delivery, the frig fit in the opening but I couldn't open the doors. Tony didn't allot space for that despite "years" of being in the business. So I sent it back leaving me without a refrigerator. 3. I ordered a smaller side by side model, requested a refund for the difference and asked for a loaner until mine came in. Waited 4 days for a loaner and was happy when they delivered the new side by side instead. 4. The "brand new" side by side refrigerator worked for 2 days. Of course, I had it full of groceries. Called Frigidaire for repair. Two days later an appliance repair company sent out a service guy. The fan motor was bad. He'd have to order parts that would take days to arrive. He moved something inside and got it to work temporarily but advised "it would go bad again and for me to cross my fingers". It did work until the new service guy came with the parts and repaired my "brand new" appliance. Thank goodness it continues to work. 5. Now on to the refund check for over $700....I was told it was mailed Nov 13th, two weeks after I requested it. I was told by Jake at the Hall Rd store it would be there at the end of the first week. Nope! Today Nov 20th, it still was not here so I called the Gratiot store and was told to wait "a couple days" to see if it was cashed ( Thanksgiving is in a couple days!). I said no. I want a stop put on the first check, reissue another check today and I will pick it up at 4:15-4:30. I was at the Gratiot store at 4:20 and George (the owner I believe) hadn't signed the check and was at the bank. I said I'd wait. An hou and a half later, George came back, signed the check and I finally returned home. Never have I had such a terrible experience!!!!!! From start to finish. I purchased a GE double oven a few years ago based upon the recommendation of Celeste. In addition, I purchased the extended warranty offered from CPS. Michelle at Sargent oversees the paperwork for the extended policy. Completely useless and terrible at customer service. Once this policy is purchased it is you left fighting with CPS on repairs. The oven has broken five times and CPS refuses to replace the oven stating we do not have a lemon law in Michigan. The oven fan is a known defect. F97 is the failure code. Look it up and beware. One repair took 2 months to receive the part and repair the oven. My oven stopped working on Thanksgiving. Almost a year to the day from the last repair. Today, I received a call from GE stating they do not have the part and the repair call is cancelled. I was told if I did not purchase the extended warranty policy from CPS, GE may have replaced the oven. Really................ We purchased a fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher. The delivery was after the timeframe and they do not do the install. They also do not take their trash back with them. The installer who happened to be the owner shows up at 8pm. They were there until almost 11pm. The fridge was too short with the cabinets above it, he said that they could cut them if we paid $50 extra and demanded cash on site. The owner took all of his trash outside and left it all over my driveway. Cardboard, packing materials, and cabinet pieces everywhere, which had to be cleaned up at 11pm. When my husband called to complain today he was told by the owner that he knows it was a long day for my husband (time frame was 3p - 6p)but it was a long day for them too. That he should have charged us more for the installation as it was a nightmare and if it was anyone else they would not have completed it. Also that as he did not see any garbage cans he felt that it was fine to leave the trash all over our driveway. read more

Lets haggle, Purchased a washer dryer a few months ago and had such a good experience that just bought a new kitchen set, fridge, stove, micro, dishwasher. Just bought a fridge from Sargent Appliance and the Freezer isn't freezing. Spoke with the contracting repair company, whose phone team member is rude and unprofessional. Spoke with Dave the manager at Sargent and he relayed to me that different fridges have different freezing temperatures, and that some food gets frozen and some doesn't freeze all the way??? Dave from Sargent says that all fridges are different and that freezer freezes at different temps. He also says that this occurrence of not FREEZING is common and that he's seen it all the time. I find this hard to believe that fridges need service a week or two after they have been purchased??? I used to hold Sargent Appliance is high regard until this occurred. I will never use them again for any appliances. Not after an issue like this. All his reply was just BALONEY. read more

I have say that Sargent Appliance really impressed me. We lost our washer and dryer in a flood last week and after the water went down our washer and dryer were kaput. We were in a jam so I went to Sargent Appliance spoke with David in Sales and he ended up selling us Speed Queen as a replacement.I went in on Monday and placed the order. David said Saturday was the best he could do on the delivery. I said ok but if there was a way to get it there sooner please do. While looking for a refrigerator, I went in this place. It was the worse place that I even been in. The sales person who said that he had been there over 25 years was very rude. Did not answer my questions and only wanted to sell me what he wanted to sell. He also talked to me like I was stupid. He seemed to have an attitude against woman who knew what they were doing. After experiencing such rudeness, I talked to a few friends and they said that it is the worse place around. I will never step foot into that company again! I bought a refrigerator at Sargents. It was a dud. They would not do anything to help me. I ended up having to convince General Electric to come pick it up. I would never shop there again. It was a total hassle. I bought a dishwasher, and I only wanted one feature, and the sales person said yes, it had that feature. It does not have the feature I wanted. The sales people would not help. Very dissatisfied with shopping at Sargents. I went there because of their excellent reputation. I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the salesman I worked with gave me the most competitive price on my washer and dryer and the delivery guys were very nice. I initially had issues with my washer not getting cold water and come to find out it was due to the fill hoses. The washer manual clearly states not to use flood safe hoses (which I had no idea I had) and only those from the manufacturer. The hoses should have been changed when my washer was delivered. I have a longer hose than the standard 3 or 4 foot which I am guessing is why they opted not to change it. The owner so "graciously" offered to send someone out with (2) 4 foot steel hoses and a coupler and install them for $49.95. Gee thanks! What a joke! A quick search on the internet shows Speed Queen OEM 8 foot hose PN 26017 for $9.66!!! I am sure being a retailer they can get an even better price than that. I would have been completely satisfied if they said hey, we can order these OEM hoses for you and ship them to your house. Problem solved! I spent nearly $2000 but will not be spending another dime at this store. read more

Bought over $2600 in appliances from Sargent last month and I have never received such horrible customer service. They didn't call the morning of delivery with a delivery time. When I called to find out a deliver time, they could give me a time. When they did call they said they would be there in half an hour and they showed up an hour and a half later. The appliances were delivered in a pick-up truck which to my best guess is why both the washing machine and refrigerator were scratched/damaged. The day after the delivery I was cleaning my laundry room when I noticed the brand new vinyl flooring was torn when the delivery man moved my washing machine once it was off the dolly. When I called to report this damage I was told by a warehouse employee that his men said they didn't damage floor so I must have done it. After dealing with several different people I finally received an apology for the damage and my treatment. Sargent tried to make things right by providing one item of merchandise free of charge but once they provided that any resemblance of customer service ended once again. A few days after they offered me the merchandise I found they have overcharged me on my invoice and I called to have them refund it. They said that since they provided the free merchandise they would not refund the $100 since the free merchandise should cover the damage to my floor and the $100 I was overcharged. I went to Sargent not because they had the best prices but because family and friends had recommended them for their customer service. Needless to say I will NEVER buy from them again and I would not recommend their services because once the appliances were delivered they could have cared less. read more

We bought a washer dryer and dishwasher and have had nothing but trouble since!! We called right away to report the problems only to be yelled at and told we were not using them right! They send out a service man to fix because they aren't going to replace any of their so called new appliances (I think they buy broken crap and sell it) a few days later of their so called service man coming my tools are missing in my laundry room where he was working I'm telling you now DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!! We just left Sargent Appliance in Rochester, MI what a great store! Not only did they have beautifly laid out all the latest appliances that yoy can imagine but they were having a demonstration with GE's advantium oven. But the real treat here was a well know chef and author, charming and modest, Jeanne N Sarna, who was both knowledgeable and patient and able to get us engaged and teach us how to cook with this wonderful oven. We had plans to eat after the demonstration, but we knew we only would be disspapointed, because her food was so tasty. We made our purchase at the Rochester location. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because we got a great price on a Sub Zero closeout. They asked if we needed "installation" and we asked what that entailed. We were told they would hook up the water and anchor it in place to the adjoining cabinetry. Since this is a current work in progress there are no adjacent cabinets so we asked if it could be anchored to the wall and Kevin said no and since we weren't utilizing the ice maker at this time it was agreed installation didn't really exist in our purchase. When it was "delivered" the nice men brought it in, dropped it in the middle of the kitchen and told me it couldn't be used till it was "installed". I asked them to push it back into the opening we had for it and they said they couldn't because they were not installers. I pleaded with them but they kept saying no. I called the store and asked what the hell we were suppose to do and all Kevin would say is we didn't pay for installation. I told him it needed to be out of the middle of my kitchen and again he told me the delivery people were not installers. This went on for over 5 minutes and i told him they could take it back and he finally gave them the green light to push it back into the opening. Not very customer accommodating. read more

Hi, I spent weeks looking for a Upright Freezer during this awful pandemic. I called EVERYWHERE, if I was actually able to speak to a sales associate they where not pleasant . I'm Not complaining, the gal at Home Depot was so tired when she answered the phone, she said we don't have any and won't till July, then she just hung up. I totally understand and I felt bad that I called. The "essential workers" are Amazing and people are doing the best they can. I decided to give up and then I thought of Sargents !!!! I went online and looked then I was able to get ahold of John . He was able to get me one ! And to top that they delivered it only two days later! On the day of the delivery , the two gentlemen that showed were WONDERFUL, they could not have been kinder, or more professional . I wish I had gotten their names to leave in this review so I could thank them again. Delivered a Whirlpool refrigerator model WRS588FIHW December 21, 2019. Refrigerator was delivered without filters, when we called Salesman Dave Tarpley he said he would contact the rep and have them set to us right away. 2 months later called back and Dave said oops, I forgot bat he would follow up on it right away. Filters have never arrived as of July 15, 2020. Refrigerator makes a terrible creaking sound makes a terrible creaking noise, does hold consistent temperatures, and leaks an opaque goo from the bottom of the appliance. Called Sargent in May and talked to Chris who introduced himself as the service manager, he sent a repair person out that put caulk on the bottom of the appliance and ordered a "flapper". Two weeks later the repairman came back and installed the part. Nothing has changed Refrigerator still does the same things. After repeated calls to Sargent I am now told that I must contact Whirlpool to get a return authorization myself. I am still on hold as I type this. Buyer beware! Service Manager Chris tells me he can't do anything without authorization from Whirlpool. We even purchased the extended warranty for $199.00 which I am told does not do anything until the factory warranty runs out. Be careful with any purchase from this company, they are unwilling to exchange for a new product. read more

The store manager of this Hall road store is a complete joke. Ordered a Refrigerator, store manager said it would be delivered in one week, on a Friday. We waited on Friday, no call to say the delivery men were coming. We called the "store manger" and asked him where is our fridge, his answer was ' they forgot to put it on the truck" Then he said it would not be delivered for another week.....ANOTHER WEEEEEK!!!!! Cancelled this order, went to another store. HAWTHORNE, Hawthorne even beat Sargent's price. Purchased all new appliances for my kitchen remodel in the first week of July. Called Sargent to schedule delivery on September 9th. (that's about two months after I placed the order ) They never showed up on the delivery date, and didn't even call me. When I called to find out why they didn't deliver, they informed the fridge was damaged and they had to reorder it. It would have been nice to get a courtesy call letting me know about the damage and to reschedule delivery. Customer service is completely nonexistent at Sargent Appliance. Maybe I could put up with terrible customer service had I saved a significant amount of money on these appliances, but it was hardly worth it,as I only saved about $30 when compared to the big-box stores. 5/15/15 On the day Sargent was to install my refrigerator, I called and asked them to avoid 2:00 for a house showing. After assuring me they would, they showed up at 1:45. John then scolded me for not being available all day, even after I told him that they told me they would avoid this time. Once the salesperson made the sale he never bothered with us again. It took a month to get all of our appliances and not once did we receive a call from the store.
