I've been a Home Depot fan for a long, long time; and thankfully this Utica location continues to meet that quality. They always have a vast selection of items; from paper towels to plants to a new roof, you can find it here. The shop seems to always be well stocked and clean. There are well maintained restrooms available, and cutting stations can be found if needed. They offer a monthly kids crafts event, along with other, occasional, informative classes, and they always have great seasonal deals to take advantage of (both in-store and online). My visit today though, was of a different manner. I'm working to socialize my new pup, possibly as a service dog, and I was told Home Depot was a dog friendly store. Upon entering, I did stop at customer service to be sure it was allowed. The employee enthusiastically replied that all well behaved furry companions were welcomed at Home Depot, the only expectation is that the owners clean up messes. I was relieved and we happily went about our training. Honestly, it could not have been more of a positive experience for us. All of the employees we meet were very friendly, and we were acknowledged often seeing if we needed assistance. We did a few laps around the store, found a cute plant to commemorate my pups first in-shop (besides pet stores) adventure. It was a great shopping trip, I definitely can recommend the Utica location, and I'm sure I'll be visiting again soon. read more

As a contractor, my time is very valuable. Home Depot doesn't agree. Not a place to buy your materials, unless you have all day to wait and not get what you ordered. Ironically, I was called no less than 5 times to inform me my flooring order was ready for pick up. Apparently, only one high low driver was on duty. Time is money. I cancelled the order and will think twice about my experience before any future purchases. read more

Never buy any appliance from this company. Customer service is horrible. It takes a week to get an appliance from this company but if you go to Lowe's you can get it the next day. When they do deliver it, the delivery company drops your appliance, damages it and then it takes another two weeks to get an appliance from them again. If it wasn't for Whirlpool , I would've never received my refrigerator. Thank you, Whirlpool for stepping up, you went above and beyond. I come here to buy plants, cleaning items, bird seed, containers to store stuff in and sometimes I'll buy a can of paint or two. Mom likes to buy stuff in their lighting section. Mom has serious arthritis and can not walk very far so we like that they have nice, well-maintained chairs she can ride in. the isles are wide and clear. The store is always very clean and well stocked. The people are friendly. Today I needed help for a small, odd project. I'm not Ms fix-it by any means but I had to figure out how to keep the handle from sliding down on the transporter/wheelchair we use for mom when she just can't walk anymore. There are two handles to push the chair and one kept popping and sliding down. The bolt would not stay in place but I had no idea how to replace the bolt...what kind, how big, how to put it on...my head hurt trying to figure it out. I brought the chair into the store and explained to a kind young man what was my problem. That guy was the greatest employee ever! He was so patient in helping me find the right bolt and the backing. It took several attempts but he found the right stuff to use to keep the handle in place. Bless that fellow, he took out the old bolt and put in the new one for me! I'm so grateful to have a sturdy chair once again. Clean, well-stocked and friendly, helpful personnel everywhere; great store. read more

I moved out to this area in 1992. This location was the only decent hardware, home store Years ago for everyone to shop at before the competitors and competition arrived to take over Hall Rd. (M-59) Now it's so busy, crazy and over-populated in Macomb, Clinton and Shelby Township, that this Home Depot STILL always serves my needs in between other hardware stores.. Upon walking in the door baskets are always available. Everything's always organized in here with great displays. The shelves are neatly stocked and items are always available based on weekly sales. Based on a monthly visit in here especially in the summer time with home projects, there are many employees in the well labeled departments willing to help, assist and have knowledge when looking for a particular item part or a question regarding a home project. Today my Mom needed an entry door lock for her back door. The house is old from 1954. over the past 35 years ? or more the lock tumbler was tripping, so the door knob would not stay locked and it was not to be fixed. In the past 4 years I found a great brand Kwikset that I highly recommend. (Previous problem I had here at home). it's easy to install and you can key it to your previous key without having to start over. "I can say my shopping experience was successful = I nailed it !" Great prices, name brands and also Home Depot brands that can assist with your projects and fast purchases. Their return policy is 90 days. Upbeat music playing throughout the story to keep you happy while shopping. They have "You scan check out", which makes it quick and fast and rewards to tabulate your purchases for future reference. The automatic cash registers are always broken. When you go to a unmarked broken register a boomer Karen brushes behind and steals the only working register. Home depot has no clear directions for the checkout. They spill overstocked merchandise in front of the machines. (Meijer clearly explains customers to line up single file. With plenty of room to line up in a orderly fashion.) Home depot never has real people at the regular checkout lines. I get so frustrated with this company. Lowes, Menards, Ace and ACO never have these same problems. Hopefully this location gets closed down and a different chain can take it over. The manager must be a real cheapskate. They only have one person working the automatic registers and no one else on the regular checkouts. read more

Was supposed to have my new fridge delivered Saturday the 18th between 2:30 and 6. Never even started getting updates on my delivery until 8 pm that night. No delivery was made and Home Depot has no idea where my fridge is and doesn't seem to care too much. After a days worth of lost income, waiting until almost 10 at night to find out it wasn't being delivered, and having to throw food out the lousy $150.00 off does nothing for me now. I purchased a new dishwasher. The sales person did not ask any questions about my kitchen layout. Nor did he discuss the fact that my kitchen layout could be prohibitive for installation of a dishwasher. When the installer arrived, he refused to install the new dishwasher, nor remove the broken dishwasher. When I called the store, they refused to remediate the issue other than removing the dishwasher that I purchased, and told me that if I wished a rebate or my delivery and installation charges, then I needed to call a different department. I had to call a 3rd party appliance installation company to remedy my problem. I will never purchase any goods or services from this company again. read more

WORST experience ever with a delivery company. Company used by Home Depot to deliver a dishwasher Linn Star Transfer. 1st attempt: Received call to schedule delivery, cleared our schedule to accommodate, truck called 1/2 hour before, showed up - only to find out they didn't have the dishwasher on the truck. Dispatcher blamed manufacturer for not getting appliance on truck in time. (Wouldn't it be a delivery company's responsibility to insure they had what they were going to deliver?) Said I could call the manufacturer if I wanted to complain - seriously. No priority given in rescheduling. Waited another 9 days. 2nd attempt: driver shows up, wants to enter with no mask during COVID-19 pandemic - violating health laws. Entry was refused until he got a mask. He comes back with one. Then proceeds to start making up reasons why they can't install the new dishwasher because of a copper line attached. Indicates a company policy - which was never communicated by Home Depot in any paperwork. I told him I would remove the copper line for him. Then he makes an absurd statement - "well you have to do it in 15 minutes because that's all the time we have scheduled" - I told him it would take me 5 minutes. I did it in 2 minutes. He then refuses to haul away the old dishwasher despite the water line now disconnected and we already paid for old unit haul away. He continues to make up every excuse in the book about for not doing what they were paid to do. By this time, we refused complete delivery of the new dishwasher and called Home Depot to demand a refund. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional, unaccomodating, unreasonable delivery company as a homeowner of 22 years. As such, I will NEVER shop at HOME DEPOT again or use any company that uses this company for delivery/installation. Look at Google for all the 1 star reviews of this delivery / installation service. Yet they still use them. Their contract with Home Depot and any other appliance company that cares about their reputation should be canceled. read more

I rented a Honda 2000 super quiet generator for our camping trip at Lakes Of Fire for a week. I was 24 hours past my due date for dropping it off. George in the tool rental department at store #2708 in Utica MI off of Northpointe BLVD hooked it up! Rather than charge me the extra $52 he gave me a $50 discount because of the trouble I faced returning from a week long excursion in the woods. Ever have one of those weeks when everything goes bad? This was one of those weeks. . the snow blower, the sump pump, AND the hot water tank had issues. Sigh. Can someone please tell me why I'm not living in a mansion in Hawaii with a maintenance staff??? Oh yeah. . I didn't win the lottery. So we went to Home Depot to get supplies for the water backup system for the sump pump. Hubby had a long list of items. Luckily Ned was in the plumbing aisle and was able to help us find all the parts quickly. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I ordered over $600 of insulation online to be delivered to my home on Saturday, May 4th 2019. When tracking (all morning Saturday the 4th), it stated my delivery would be delivered between 6 am and 8 pm. I called Home Depot at 9 am to get a better estimate of the delivery. The gentleman said the truck should be at the store within the hour and my delivery should be at my house before noon. Well it is now 5:24 pm. I called the Utica store (where my insulation was being delivered from), the employee asked me for my phone number that was used when placing the order online. She said the number I gave her wasn't in the system, even though it was when I called that morning at 9 am. I gave her my last name and she said "We do have one order for that name" and she also said "The order is still here at our store and the driver hasn't picked it up yet". I explained to her that the Home Depot employee told me at 9 am, the truck will be pulling up very soon and delivering my order within the next few hours, before noon. She said, I don't know who that employee was but what he may have said was not correct. I feel like I have been held captive at my own home waiting for this Effen deliver all day. Why have a Home Depot delivery tracking page on your website if it isn't even useable, doesn't make sense to me. I explained to her that I am finishing my basement and had planned on purchasing everything from Home Depot and having it all delivered to my home. Not Any More, I explained. And these stores wonder why they are losing their business to AMAZON??? GET A CLUE, its not just for the savings it's also for the delivery, competency, reliability, professionalism and they have a real delivery tracking page that works REAL TIME. I will still buy things from Home Depot as they are right down the street from my house, but I will never have anything delivered to my house from there. I purchased a paint roller on line because they did not sell them in the store. I went to one of the lockers. They had an issue opening it. However they did gave me my roller. I did not end up needing it, so I had all the packaging all the papers to return it, and they said the computer said i never picked it up, and there I stood with the roller, the paper and the prof that they charged my debt card. Now i will say the employee GARY, was really nice and did what he could, but I was there for over an hour, while they called problem resolutions, and we had to convince them that i did indeed have the roller. This was crazy for a 20.00 roller and they could not return it. This process is stupid, if the locker can say you never picked the item up. REALLY. I hate to give even on star read more

I ordered a Samsung SMH1622S OTR microwave on 11/18/2013. I opted to pay the $59 for installation services provided by Home Depot. The scheduled and actual delivery date was 12/04/2013. On 12/04/2013, the two gentleman arrived to install the microwave. I was not home during installation and my husband was busy getting our kids ready for school that morning when they installed it. It was unseasonably warm in MI that day. They seemingly installed it without a hitch, other than having some issues lining it up with the existing outside venting and the two holes through the cabinets (they needed to drill two new holes because the existing holes didn't line up with the microwave). They left and we were satisfied with the product at that moment. Exactly three days later (12/01/2013), the temperature in MI dropped significantly and we noticed a strong draft coming from under the microwave. The microwave unit itself was also extremely cold, practically an ice box. In addition, it started making a weird noise when we used it - louder than before. After doing some online research, I realized that the installers might not have installed the damper assembly or did it incorrectly. At this point, I realized that the microwave's performance had been compromised due to the temperature. My husband immediately called the local Home Depot that processed my order (Utica #2708) and explained what happened and told them we want a refund. He was told the item is nonrefundable and to contact the manufacturer directly. He was speaking with the Assistant Manager, Paul. Paul was very eager to get my husband off the phone. My husband told Paul that this was an unfair response and continued to pursue his case for refund. Finally, Paul agreed but stated we would be charged a 15% restocking fee and would not be refunded for the installation services. After some more back and forth, Paul agreed to drop the restocking fee but still refused to refund the installation fee. We returned the microwave in the store that day and Paul was nowhere to be found - I suppose he didn't want to face us after the phone encounter he had with my husband. Bottom line is that I will NEVER shop at Home Depot again. We have spent thousands of dollars at Home Depot in the past and I am boycotting them forever more. They do not treat customers fairly and their refund policy is ridiculous - Home Depot does not deserve my hard-earned money. read more

So I went to Home Depot in Utica, MI to order blinds for my new home. It was a new build so I needed measurements and blinds for every window. When I worked with the 'blinds specialist at home depot,' she showed me some of the colors for faux wood blinds. I told her I wanted the whitest white possible. She showed me the possible colors and the whitest white that levolor makes. I also ordered blinds for my door wall that have a material covering them so they don't look like vertical blinds. Needless to say, my blinds came in and they were cream against my white molding and they measured my door wall wrong so they don't fit. I contacted levolor and asked them about their white faux blinds. They explained to me that they do make a whiter white than what I picked. I contacted Home Depot and complained that they didn't know their products and that next time, they need to be more thorough with their customers. Long story short, I was told I was going to get new blinds and a different white that was called Pure White. Then a week goes by and their assistant store manager calls me and explains to me that they are not going to re-do my blinds. He also asked me to explain story which I did almost three times and then to find out I was on a conference call with the lady I was working with on speaker. I was completely unaware that I was on a conference call. This was beyond disappointing and my honesty was questioned. I will never shop at Home Depot again. read more

I have preferred the Home Depot for home needs but today ended my relationship with the Home Depot after my bad experience at the appliance department the store clerk made me feel like I'm the enemy when I tried to order an appliance. Sometimes businesses forget that they have competition and I can go many other places that will be glad to take my money without giving me a hard time Several years ago I had a water heater installed by the Home Depot but at the time I did not know that they were going to use a contractor I thought the Home Depot would back up their installation work the people that installed the hot water heater were hillbillies that did a hillbilly job installing it. A day after they install the tank it was leaking all over the floor I called Home Depot and was told that I had to follow up on my own they had nothing to do with the installation because they were contractors not Home Depot employees so I swore that I probably would never buy anything that had to be installed from the Home Depot again and today's attempt to order an appliance made me certain that I won't shop at the Home Depot again. read more

It is obvious why they do free installation. The company they order carpet from is unreliable. I ordered my carpet a month ago, told it would be in 2 weeks later. Never got a call on that date so I went in. Was then told it's on back order and will be another 2 weeks. They also documented they left me a message about this but never did. I will never do carpet business with them again! Very unsatisfied. Not to mention they said allow for 2 weeks when I order so I allowed for a month just on case of anything. And now a month out still no carpet and will need to move in my items from my baby shower then move then back out whenever this carpet finally comes in. read more
