Ace is almost always my first stop for anything hardware, but in the future, I definitely will never again buy their KeyFobs. I then went to my local locksmith and will see if their product will last any longer than Ace's KeyFobs.

I noticed that they had a kitchen area filled with small appliances, food storage, cooking, and bakeware. There are other household products such as cleaning supplies and laundry items. I love their trash cans. My mom actually bought one from here. The Brute ones are amazing and cheap. Great for yard and trash. They have a large section for paint and wood supplies. Anything you can think of, they have. All the the necessary tools as well. Even ladders for outside work, painters, or anyone. One of my favorite things was the storage bins. Perfect for storing away things taking up space. They have many other sections like plumbing, automotive, and hardware. A useful area for me is the doorknobs and padlocks. I was looking for new ones. We also saw lots and lots of tooks for everything. Their biggest section may have been lawn. The lawn area have sprinklers, tools, weedwackers, blowers, lawn mowers, hose, bird feeders, plant food, insect control, fertilizer, grass chemicals, and grass seed. They also have grills and propane. Some of the tools are useful for yard work such as shovels and rakes. It's seems like a great place to buy painting and lawn items more than anything else. I did see some items priced higher than other stores like the cleaning supplies. They do also have some cheap steals.

The cashier pointed me toward a "help desk" at the back of the store. The gentleman there was cutting some keys so I patiently waited about 4-5 minutes for him to finish so that I could be helped. When I was finally able to ask him about finding them, he pointed down the aisle and brusquely said "they're in the drawers down there." There are literally hundreds of small drawers down one aisle. He immediately turned to someone else, dismissing me. I felt he was rude and not at all "helpful". After wandering around for 5 minutes trying to find what I was looking for, I gave up and left. Granted, they only lost a small sale, but they lost a customer forever. I will not be back. I owned my own store for 10 years, so I understand full well how a small kindness can bring years of repeat business.

Great Lakes is a medium size hardware store business providing residents nearby and customers with thousands of name brands and of course "ACE" brand products for over 70 years! Great Lakes Ace hardware has mostly everything you need for a Home Improvement, Automotive, DIY projects or those breakdown needs! I've been a resident in the area since 1992 and a shopper at this reliable store. It has gone through a few name changes, (ACO, and ACE Hardware), yet the merchandise, staff and organization has been always operating in a friendly helpful way for a "local" hardware store. Upon walking in this location an employee is always ready to greet and offer help in finding a small or large item for a quick repair or major project. Sometimes there are many employees working in different areas that can help with the stress of a DIY project with their expert advice. Yes there are the two "Other Big Chain" home improvement stores, but Great Lakes Ace is always easy to shop being nearby, compared to driving in traffic on M59. :-) The organized layout of this store makes shopping efficient. Some areas offer videos, helpful checklists for those DIY projects. This store has a phenomenal selection of products: Hardware, Home, Window & Door Weatherization, Fasteners, Door Knobs, Locks & Hardware, Key-Cut Service, Driveway Maintenance, Everyday Essentials, Grilling, Home Goods, Lawn & Garden, Lighting & Electrical, Outdoor Living, Outdoor Power Equipment, Paint & Supplies, Plumbing, Pool, Tools, Smoke Detectors, CO2 to name the top items. This location also offers: Lawn Mower Blade Sharpening, Carpet cleaning & Power Washing Rental, DNR licensing, Propane Service, Screen Repair, Window & Glass Repair & Curbside Loading for Garden Purchases. This location has always been my quick trip "GO-TO" for a few projects at home to save time, money and driving. One example when I was outside decorating my house for the Christmas holiday a few years ago, a set of netting lights not under warranty anymore, would not work. So I called ahead for the same or similar light set and for sure ACE hardware had them and put the box aside for my quick purchase. Recently my current landscaping company which I have contracted for 10 years, has stopped lawn fertilizing due to the COVID-19 which put Me in a stress mode. Now is the time for Spring with new grass growth and dandelions. This store has a fertilizer price sale going on till April 30 plus $5.00 off per bag when downloading their App to carryout /curbside pick up. Yes I did opt quickly on this offer and it worked out in a happy positive way. Photo attached too. :-) Thanks to employee "Kyle" for his friendly attitude and fast customer service I picked up 2 bags of Scott's weed and feed in 15 minutes from my home to the store and back. Their motto: "ACE is the helpful hardware place!" Yes they are especially with our Michigan seasons and all year round projects as well. When you Sign up for their ACE Rewards you will start saving on your in store or online purchases and receive coupons monthly. The current manager working at this location when I shop in here is: Theresa Szilagyi as it prints on receipts. I definitely recommend this Local Great Lakes ACE Hardware Store.

It's a handy store indeed and whether it's spring, summer, winter or fall- the nicely laid out aisles and seasonal department usually have what we need. From small items to large, they have you covered and if it saves a trip to the big box stores, then you've saved yourself some time as well. The store is always neat and clean which is always something I notice when entering any establishment and that speaks volumes that they care about their customers.

They offer a monthly kids crafts event, along with other, occasional, informative classes, and they always have great seasonal deals to take advantage of (both in-store and online). My visit today though, was of a different manner. I'm working to socialize my new pup, possibly as a service dog, and I was told Home Depot was a dog friendly store. Upon entering, I did stop at customer service to be sure it was allowed. The employee enthusiastically replied that all well behaved furry companions were welcomed at Home Depot, the only expectation is that the owners clean up messes. I was relieved and we happily went about our training. Honestly, it could not have been more of a positive experience for us. All of the employees we meet were very friendly, and we were acknowledged often seeing if we needed assistance. We did a few laps around the store, found a cute plant to commemorate my pups first in-shop (besides pet stores) adventure. It was a great shopping trip, I definitely can recommend the Utica location, and I'm sure I'll be visiting again soon.
