Definitely one of the larger ABC stores I've been to, this is located right off of Kalakaua - Their selection seems pretty plentiful, ranging from gift items, keychains, snacks, food-to-go, a beverage selection, apparel, etc. There were also some sale items, too. The aisles are a little narrow, considering the overflow of food traffic here from the hub bub of DT Waikiki. Thank heavens for ABC Stores. What an abundant, reliable resource for anyone spending time in Hawaii. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency a few weeks ago, and there were two ABC Stores on the property. This review is for the one on street level, but we definitely hit up the third floor location, too. Things come up when you're traveling, and it's nice to have a convenience store that isn't trying to shake you down for every last tourist dime. On our trip, we needed beer, sunscreen, and back-up food for our picky son. The ABC Stores had robust selections of booze and sunscreen, and our kid loved their soft, ready-made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Check-out was fast and easy. I could grab a sandwich and a Diet Coke while waiting for our car at the valet stand. We didn't go in to browse, but I did note that there were tons of snacks and souvenir goods, including racks of Hello Kitty and other Sanrio plushies sporting Hawaiian tans. All in all, a great, cheerful, enormously useful place. read more

I'm a huge fan of the ABC store chain. Whenever I'm in Hawaii, I always make it a point to stop at ABC. This particular location is one of my faves because it's conveniently located inside of International Marketplace. They've got everything that you need in this little store. Did you forget your toiletries? They've got that. Need some souvenirs to take back home with you? They've got it. How about some snacks or grab and go food?! Yep, they've got that too. I needed to purchase some sunscreen and a few boxes of those lovable chocolate covered macadamias for friends back home. Found both of those items and of course stocked up on some other things too. They've got the best and most creative souvenirs here! If you're not prepared for the beach, they've also got tons of flip flops, beach towels, and bathing suits. They've also got a pretty decent wine and alcohol section in here too. I love that they validate parking tickets if you're parked in the International Marketplace garage. A comprehensive store that has everything you would need from liquor to chocolates to any souvenir possible, at least this store had everything possible we could imagine. But since so much stuff is kept all over, the walking pathway is limited overall. However, we were able to explore everything needed. For the tourist, ABC Stores are a life line in the ocean of dining out. To me there seems to be a store on every block in the tourist section of Waikiki. It is also one of those variety of stores whose inventory is "if they don't have it, you don't need it". Overall, we bought meals there, hot and cold, we bought alcohol (to enjoy in our hotel room overlooking the night lights), we bought pharmaceuticals (OTC) and we bought a few articles of clothing that we left at home. Considering we were captive tourists, the prices weren't too bad. You can see from the pics some of the various foods items we purchased. Dining out on vacation can be extremely expensive and it was nice to just stay in, even once in a while. ABC offers an affordable option for doing so. The foods items were fresh. The quality was average or above. I liked the variety to choose from. In the back of the larger stores, they have a hot food area. These meals were generally good and the service was quick (make sure to ask for utensils - it's not always voluntarily provided). It's your classic "convenience store meets souvenir shop then has little ABC Store babies" story. I love, love, love these ABC Stores. They make my heart happy every time I see one, which is fortunate for my heart since you see multiple stores per block. This ABC Store is located at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort. The structure of the store is narrow taking you almost through an alleyway from Kalakaua Ave to the interior courtyard of the resort. It's more of a mini express, but gets the job done if you're staying at the resort. For a wider selection, visit any of the many other stores located within a block. Save your receipts if you're interested in receiving a free gift for spending $100 during your stay. Pro tip: If you're aspiring for a golden brown tan, look for Maui Babe. Basically people of color watch out for this ABC store the managers will look at u crazy. Lady didn't want to give me a new water that one of the ABC store employees cut the bottom when opening the box it came in. And I had a receipt and she still didn't want to give me a new water. A 1.99 its way over priced anyways. Be careful people and keep your receipts until you leave the island and get home. Tried to take my ALOHA spirit. Quick take: exchange I bought a women's tee shirt from a differentlocation. Didn't realize I picked one with a hole in the seam. Took the shirt and receipt to this location. The cashier asked for my receipt and then said no problem to an exchange. It was an easy transaction. read more

My girlfriend and I were in Waikiki for the last week. We visited a few of the ABC stores while we were there. On the last day of our trip, we went in to this location to buy our souvenirs for the trip. It was one of the largest ABC locations we saw. I grabbed a basket and we started to shop around. As we started to add items to the basket, we started to realize one of the employees following us around. It was not obvious at first but then she kept pointing things out that we were looking at. There were tons of people in the store but she always found it a way to be around us and input her opinion. By the end, it started to get really uncomfortable and clear that she pushed herself on our shopping experience like that. Few things to mention: We did not walk in with oversized bags, backpacks or purses. My girlfriend was the only after an American person in the store. The employee who was on the floor the entire time, also decided to help the cashier check us out (where she was never at the entire time we were in the store nor did for other customers). With Waikiki being such a melting pot of travelers and such a tourist destination, it was disappointing to see these actions in your store location and more disappointing to see how it affected who I was with. It was very clear why we out of all the people in the store were being followed. When it became blatantly obvious that this was happening we should have taken our business elsewhere and we should have spoken up. I hope you realize how you can easily change an experience for people with your employees actions. read more

The BEST ABC Store in Waikiki! Why? Because they had Hello Kitty reusable shopping bags, plushies, and post it notes! Even though they only had two varieties of Hawaiian Hello Kitty bags, I was thrilled to see the cute plushies - especially since they had tans! It's very unique for Hello Kitty to be a different shade! She usually is white! I'm sure she used sunscreen to get that tan...like we all should do! We visited several ABC Stores while on the island, but this is the one where we purchased most of our souvenirs. But there is pretty much an ABC Store on every block. These stores are great. They're clean, well-stocked, and well-staffed. They carry everything a convenience store would have and more. Snacks, umbrellas, food, shirts, alcohol, and other gifts. You can find pretty much everything you need here. It's a nice bonus that they give you a small gift if you spend over $100 across your visits to any number of ABC Stores. We ended up buying several gifts from here, all of which were reasonably priced overall considering you're in a tourist hot spot. read more

I have now been to almost every store on the main strip along the beach. This is the best place to stay hydrated on a hot day. We picked up some water to walk around. They are very conscientious here about single use plastic, but one of the best things I have noticed it that most hotels and tourist spots have refillable water stations with fresh, cold, filtered water. Once you buy a bottle you can use it all day (or trip) when going on tours, or in your room at night. They also have so many yummy snacks that kept us going on a budget. I wish they had a location near me. I would be their number one customer. read more

I had to buy tweezers and went to this ABC store. I asked for the thing and the person at the checkout said she doesn't know what I talk about. I showed her the English word on my phone and still said we don't have that. I browsed around and found the item. Then I showed it to her and she got upset and angry and told me I was not telling her the right word. I showed her again the English word and I could see she was not able to read English. However I exposed her weakness and she got very unfriendly and aggressive. There are other abc stores where people are way more friendly and helpful. I will not go there again read more

Food, water, shoes, towels and everything you could think of from 6 am - 11pm daily. I paid $46 for a sandwich, coffee, and small smoothie at a restaurant nearby on the strip. When I was in a hurry or wanted to save money, I purchased a full meal with fresh fruit, water and coffee for less than $25 at the ABC store. The staff are so kind and fast to help and check you out. Amazing convenience store! I stayed nearby and realized that I forgot a lot of items to bring with me. This place saved me and had everything from personal hygiene items to spam musubi to souvenirs. Damn! It seems like every 50 feet there is an ABC store in Waikiki. That is a bit of an exaggeration...but not by much! These places are all over! I know alot of people complain about the high prices in these places, but I found that it depends on the item. Beer and soda was rediculously overpriced! Almost literally double what I would pay here for certain items! They did have large Hawaiian waters for only 99 cents. That was a deal and I bought a bunch of those during the week. Some of the souveneers were fairly priced and whatever I didn't pick up at the International Marketplace, I grabbed here. Plus they are just so rediculously convenient, it would take a concerted effort to stay out of one of these places! The staff at all the ABC stores I went into alway greeted me with an "Aloha" and were always friendly and helpful, so no complaints there. Let's face it, you're in a touristy area and overpriced merchandise just comes with the territory. For what it is, it wasn't bad at all. 3 stars. read more
