Do not use this company at any cost!  Julian Coles, the CEO, and the rest of the employees at this organization do not care about you, your belongings or any commitments made to you when you sign their contract. Once you sign their contract and they have your belongings, you are at their mercy.  They will deliver your belongings whenever they feel like it and you will not be compensated for it.  In fact, you are expected to pay the full amount quoted to you before they will deliver your property! Every time we tried to talk to someone about the delay of our belongings we were reminded of the full payment due BEFORE they deliver your stuff. We recently moved to Kentucky and we were told our belongings would arrive last Tuesday, after repeated phone calls and emails that went unanswered for days, we were finally given a new date which is two weeks later!  We can understand a delay of a day or two, but  2 weeks?  We have yet to receive our belongings so who knows if that date is even accurate.  I say because every time you speak with someone, no one takes accountability for what is going on and you can never get a straight answer and that includes the top of the organization. You will be repeatedly told "we are following the limits of the terms and agreement that was provided to you when you signed the contract", but when they do not fulfill their part of the contract, you are then told to file a claim with van lines. We signed a contract with Allen and Coles moving systems, but we have to file a claim with Van Lines. It's the old bait and switch game all day long. They just say the same thing over and over until you are just tired of trying to get anywhere with them. Beware of Bill Biniszkiewicz, he is a sheep in wolves clothing. He is the person who came to our home to provide us the original quote which was off by 3k.  He also told us that he would be back at our home two days before they were to begin packing our stuff to give us a more accurate quote, but he never showed up. We were told that it would cost an additional 3k AFTER they picked up our belongings!  Then we were given the run around by several other employees including the VP, John Kane.   We also reached out to the president of the company and his response was "I don't keep up with day to day operations". In other words, I don't give a shit about your problems, have one of my completely inept employees take care of it.  And when I say inept, I am being as polite as possible.  I have no idea how this organization is in business, but beware that these clowns operate more than one moving company out of Leominster, MA and Portland, ME.  There are several companies that operate under the JRC holding company.  We signed with Allen and Coles moving, but North American Van lines, ABC movers and Allied are also managed by this same group.  My advice is to do your homework before you sign with any moving company, check the Better Business Bureau(we did not and this company has many complaints) and if you see any of the names I have listed above, RUN! read more

This is the absolute worst move we have ever experienced. Our furniture was packed the first week of May 2021 by packers who went to their cars every 20 minutes to smoke pot, items were left behind that had to be mailed to our new address. Our furniture was loaded May 7 and promised to us multiple times by the 17th of May. No one communicated with us the entire week prior to scheduled delivery, the morning of the 17th we had to call and ask where our delivery was. We were told our furniture never left Massachusetts. According to both Allied and ABC it was now scheduled to be delivered May 26. No delivery. Now it is scheduled for June 1. Meanwhile we have been in our house for over a week with no furniture, clothes, etc. we have been treated very rudely. Worst customer service we have ever encountered. They are cheaper than the rest but for a reason... My cross country move was quite smooth overall and the movers did a good job. However, once packed and my goods were on the truck / facility, the "Moving Coordinator" Regina could not provide me a delivery date nor point of contact. She actually hung up the telephone on me. This made me extremely nervous since they already had all of my things in their procession. If your #1 job is to provide information and reputable customer service for a customer during an already stressful time, you should not be impatient nor EVER hang up the phone. If I did that at my job, I would be terminated immediately. I called customer service and stated exactly what Regina told me. "I will be on vacation for 10 days and someone else should call you". They were ashamed as expected. To ABC, it's a shame that Regina is the face and point of contact of your company to the customer. If I could give this company a 0 I would. This is the first time i have ever written a review, positive or negative. I hired ABC Moving for an interstate move because the binding estimate was the lowest estimate of all the companies I contacted. The beginning of the move went perfect, they showed up on time, the agent was responsive to my questions and calls. However, when it came to deliver my belongings, this is where all the problems occurred. The customer service is awful, they did not take responsibility for the ALL the problems that occurred during this move. They overbilled me, caused $4k worth of damage, and opened my boxes and repacked them after my property left my possession. Stay away from them if you value you time and stuff. read more

I absolutely do not recommend this company and this move was one of the worst experiences with a business I've ever encountered. ABC was contracted by Allied, who I also think shares largely and perhaps moreso, in the overall fault. That's what's so priceless about a mess like this--NO ONE IS RESPONSIBLE. It's always someone else's problem, someone else's fault. The actual movers themselves were nice enough, but it was a 2-man crew instead of 3, which meant the move took more than 7 hours when it should have taken less than 4. This meant we ran into trouble with the elevator being reserved in my building (overlapping times with others) AND that we couldn't get on the road til after rush hour. Furthermore, they charged me $150 to box my mattress and box springs, refusing to allow me to wrap them in plastic as one normally does. They insisted it wasn't enough because if they tore, there was dust and potentially bed bugs to consider (coming from New England). So guess how my mattress and box springs arrived? Stuck in two boxes, neither of which were big enough nor sealed, completely exposed. NASTY. I was given a window for receiving my shipment. No one ever called, nothing ever came. I had to call twice before anyone would call me back, and when they did, it was only to inform me that my stuff was still back in MA. They didn't have a driver for it and didn't know when they'd have one. The big problem was how all my things were treated at the warehouse. A number of boxes arrived severely beaten up, two boxes were lost, and a number of furniture items were damaged. The two boxes they lost contained a large number of DVDs but also photo albums and scrapbooks, obviously not anything you could ever put a price on. One item was a framed, autographed Playbill and set of photos from a Broadway show I saw during my honeymoon. High sentimental value, low real-life cost. Thanks for losing that forever, guys. I had to file a claim not only for my shipment being late, but also for various damages and ALSO for my missing boxes. I was lied to from the very beginning about a number of things, my belongings were clearly treated as if they did not matter, and I was charged $4400 for what has been one of the worst experiences with a company I have ever endured. I cannot stress enough how much you should avoid these companies--ABC for their failure to plan and worse, the way they treated my belongings, and Allied for orchestrating this disaster and being completely inept overall. read more

We did a cross country, full-service, move through Allied Van Lines, coordinated by ABC Moving. Overall, the move went smoothly and the price was good. The estimate was easy, the packing was done quickly and professionally, and the items arrived on time and in perfect condition. The only issue was with our car shipment. They seemed to have made an error with the pick-up and we felt rushed at the last minute calling them wondering if/when the car was going to be picked up. They managed to get it picked up about an hour before we needed to leave for the airport. it in the end it worked out but the extra stress was not ideal. read more

The only reason I gave it 2 stars is the guys doing the actual moving did great and Dan the manager listen to all of the problems. tl;dr - don't make the same mistake choosing this company. To say a move across state lines during a pandemic is stressful is accurate. To say that hiring movers to do so may help is also accurate. In this situation they helped move our things but that's about the extent of it. The moving agent David Foote was friendly and personable. That covers the positive aspect. Now the negatives, which FAR outweigh the positive. The movers picking up our stuff were scheduled to arrive from 9-11 on the load day. They didn't show up until ~12:15, no one had called or emailed saying they would be late. I had to call three times, two of which were not answered and one of which at 1030 said they'd be there "very shortly." The email I received back said they would be delayed - unsure why this wouldn't have been communicated previously. I understand moves are hard and sometimes people have more things than they say, but this wasn't the case - we were told we were the first pickup.. Now as far as an estimated delivery time we have between two days and 15+. I emailed for an estimate after the movers left and received an answer a few days later saying I'd get a call from the driver. Great. Well he called the day before Christmas Eve and said he could come Christmas Eve or Christmas.. which wouldn't work. There was also no time to get a permit. Which would've been good seeing as they sent a 70 foot tractor trailer into a tightly cornered, Pittsburgh suburb. And since this happened after a snowstorm that hasn't been seen in 20+ years, it was a recipe for disaster. I had to help shovel snow out from under tires with the hired movers when they tried to get it in. Then afterward had to help shovel as well as buy cat litter since the driver didn't seem to comprehend the issue nor navigate. He also seemed very reluctant to pay the hired movers until he was almost unstuck - which seemed like bad business to me.. But let me not forget the middle part of this fun, where the truck driver was reluctant to get out of his truck, handed me the inventory sheet which was nearly illegible and said "it's like a bingo sheet" which meant almost nothing to me until the hired movers came in to the rescue and helped me understand what the heck that meant. And yet there's more, my load was shoved and packed between multiple others, wedged and hidden at times, as well as tagged the same color as another load. Which meant the movers were here for four hours when it should've taken an hour tops. Now you're probably my saying, is that all? Nah. Let me round this out for you, a few items have been broken or missing, the communication before during and now after has been abysmal, and to put the cherry on top of the ole sundae, they charged me twice (3k+) and even after noticing the issue and refunding me, didn't think it was important to email me regarding the situation. So, if you value respect, communication, and efficiency in your business dealings and your personal items - I'd steer clear of this company. read more

I did a long distance move with ABC Relocation Services. I packed most items myself. The items packed by ABC were well packed. There were a few problems. I had to call several times to find out the exact date for the pick up. I was notified of the delivery date and told that the driver would verify the time of delivery. No call was received. Some of the boxes did not have stickers when delivered so I couldn't verify if I had everything. 3 boxes were missing but I wasn't sure until I unpacked. So be careful if you decide to use this company. read more

Do NOT use this company I think they keep somehow opening new accounts on here so you won't see the bad reviews. I moved from Westborough, MA to Austin, TX. ABC/Allied Van Lines misled me on price, delivered a week late, lost items and significantly damaged other items. To make matters worse, they are dishonest. They attempted to process an unauthorized transaction on my American Express. When I had the charge reversed, they altered the authorization I had signed in order to attempt to collect the higher amount (about 3 times higher). I am surprised they don't seem to even know how serious an offense it is in interstate commerce to literally erase a section of my paperwork. Fortunately, I have the original paperwork and the email where they sent me the altered one, which clearly provides proof of the dishonest attempt to collect an incorrect amount from me. You will be much better off to do a lot of homework and pick a small company to do your move. I have since used local movers to move within Austin and found excellent people. And I learned the small companies do long distance moves. Just do your homework and you will get a better price and have a great experience. No need to use a nationwide mover which I thought would guarantee quality! read more

Rushed, poorly skilled, careless movers. I feel misled and disappointed. I have emailed the agents (ABC Moving and Storage, located in MA) and have not even received acknowledgement since I want compensation for damages. PICKUP: - Bill promised to send me 3 wardrobe boxes (I have email proof of this). This never happened. - I specified on my moving contract that I only wanted $1000 charged to my credit card, and the rest to be paid by cashier's check. Instead the entire charge was directed to my cc. ARRIVAL: - My coffee table arrived with a corner crushed completely and screws bent. Furthermore, Greg, the mover who delivered my goods said that it was like this when he picked it up, and most likely someone dropped it on that end. This means that Mike and Steve, the two movers who moved my stuff are responsible for this. If they had actually swathed it with blankets or bubble-wrapped it, this would not have happened. - Greg and his two assistants put together 1 table and 1 shelf (both from IKEA). Neither of these were carefully put together, and as a result I am having to take them all apart and put them together again myself. They were in a hurry to finish and it showed in their work. I was simultaneously supervising a cable installation so did not inspect everything thoroughly. - Greg did not show me that one of the boxes (at least -- I haven't inspected all of them yet) was arrived damaged so that its contents were exposed. It is dishonest of him to have done this and made me sign that everything had arrived in perfect condition without informing me completely of all the issues. read more

I really wish I had checked yelp prior to signing my contract with Allied and ABC moving and storage. I've moved a lot in my life; large as well as small moves. My experience with Allied and ABC has by far been the worst of my entire life. Here's my experience... Summary: Poor poor poor communication. They take advantage of smaller moves. My in-home moving assessment was with Brad on July 10th. The Allied estimate was in the middle of the road at about $3400 between United Van Lines and Bekins (FYI - I've had great experiences with both Bekins and United). I felt that Allied gave the most accurate weight of 2506 lbs and not having used Allied before I decided to give them a try. It's a big name after all right? Pick up / loading was on Aug 13th. They (and I mean Rhonda or another coordinator) failed to call me prior to my pick up/ loading date to schedule a time. This was a first for me. I had to place a call the morning of my pick up date to Rhonda to confirm that a team was even coming. The team arrived at about 930, were comparably slow (which is okay by me if it's in the spirit of being careful) and friendly. They forgot to pack an entire kitchen cabinet - that I still consider my bad because I didn't check thoroughly enough and I should have. For some reason the king mattress boxes were not included in the assessment, but the crew had extras and they didn't charge me extra for them since my move was slightly smaller than estimated. By the end of the day I was just thinking that the move was disorganized and amateurish, but not horrible.... Yet. On my contract the delivery window of August 18th through August 28th is clearly written. I hear zip from anyone and decide to call Rhonda on the week of August 25th. I leave a voicemail for her at 8:30am. Nothing. I leave another vm at 4:30pm. Still nothing. What gives, Rhonda? Are you on vaca? Is my stuff hijacked? Your outgoing message doesn't indicate that you're out of town. The next morning I called Allied and get a hold of an agent. She informed me that there is no driver assigned to my move and that she will make all the calls necessary to get this moving and will get back to me by the end of the day with an update. She did not. I call on the 27th and speak to someone else. Still no driver assigned. That's all she'll give me, but I told her to call me regardless of whether or not there is a status change. She said she would, but alas she did not. Trend confirmed. Desperate for my things I call the delivery team in Missouri. THIS guy finally gives me some info! He never received any info for my move, never had me scheduled, and found out that my things were still on the dock in Massachusetts. He couldn't logistically help beyond that but did give me another number to call at ABC. I got a hold of Another woman who gets me in touch with.... RHONDA! She had received my voicemails but didn't call because there were no updates. What the hell?? Anyway, she said she'd work on it and get back to me. I have never heard from her again despite the voicemails I've left her. By now I'm sensing that I'm a fraud victim. I even emailed my original contact, Brad, to ask for help. No response, of course. Not even an apology. I have been attempting to get info from the Allied office in Fort Wayne, IN. "There's still no driver assigned" is all they'll give me. I demand something, ANYTHING, more info, a commitment, a damn call back, SOMETHING. They give me absolutely nothing. The icing on the cake- they inform me that since my move is under 3500 lbs I am not eligible for any late delivery compensation and that the delivery dates are not guaranteed. Basically they tell me to suck it up and deal with it. Given that any delivery of my goods is not in sight, that's completely asinine. I threaten to go through the BBB and get lawyers involved. For three days I talk to customer service (a different person each time) and each says that she will get back to me regardless of a status change and SHE NEVER DOES. I finally got a hold of another person (of course after leaving good ol' Rhonda at ABC another voicemail that she'll never respond to) in Indiana this morning. She said my things are on a truck (not necessarily in transit, but on a truck) and the new tentative delivery date (she was very clear about the tentative part) is Sept 11th. We'll see. I am truly fearful of the state of my household goods. If it doesn't go well I may have to go to consumer advocates. What is going on with Allied? I simply don't see how these guys are still in business. read more

1. It took forever to get them to commit to a price for the move 2. It took forever to get them to commit to a moving date and a drop off date 3. Once they finally arrived to start the move they brought a smaller truck than needed due to wrong information from their office (the movers themselves were great BTW) 4. 6 months after the move, when the initial bill had been paid, they send an extra bill for storage that was on top of the initially agreed upon price (apparently some small print, so nothing we could do about it). 5. I should have done more thorough research about the company that Allied Moving Services was contracting out to. I had a wonderful cross-country move the first time I used Allied, so I trusted that they would vet the Boston company handling the first part of my move with the same care. The ABC salesperson who came to my apartment was personable and reassuring, and each time I reached out to him he answered my emails. HOWEVER, in the end, neither Allied nor ABC Relocation took responsibility for the terrible service I received. The communication was incredibly flawed, the movers were 4 1/2 hours late on pick up, they made mistakes packing my items, three items that they packed arrived in LA broken, and many of the boxes were crushed. I also received two boxes of SOMEBODY ELSE's belongings. Thankfully, I did not pay extra to have ABC pack my belongings, as everything I packed, even the fragile things made it without a scratch. The items they were responsible for did not get the same attention. The LA company receiving my goods on this end were so surprised by the poor packing job from the Boston end that they actually took a picture of the storage block so that I would know what it looked like before they touched it. I immediately reached out to Allied and to ABC with my concerns and detailed explanations of everything that went wrong. Each company passed me off to the other, no one would take ownership of the issue, and in the end, they dropped out of conversation. I understand that sometimes things don't go right with moves, but when there are multiple, compounding issues, the company needs to own that. While it was the ABC folks who offered such bad service, the person there said, "we're all Allied," so Allied's brand is all over this problem, too. I would have been satisfied with a heart-felt apology and a token discount for all the mistakes. But they could not even do that, hence my review and my warning to others. Allied should do better. ABC should do better. A friendly salesperson is not a salve for a really terrible experience during a move, which is already stressful. ABC has A LOT to work on. I would avoid using them until they get their communication systems fixed and their moving employees trained better. read more

I see the other 1-star reviews on here so feel compelled to offer my own counter-example. These guys were pros from start to finish with nothing scratched or dented along the way. They delivered on time and under their cost estimate. My wife, dog and I moved from Boston to Denver in November, with our condo on the market in Boston and a long drive ahead of us. From the quoting process (thank you David Foote), to the mid-move communication (thank you Rhonda), to the truck driver, (thank you John) I felt that Allied/ABC was professional, courteous and responsive throughout. The most important thing for me was communication and I let them know that ahead of the move. I read the other reviews on here, I read Google reviews, and I read their BBB ratings and the story was clear to me. When a move goes wrong, it goes really wrong. When it goes as smoothly as it possibly can, it's still stressful and exhausting. Honestly, I think these companies are getting unduly punished. Anyhow, I let them know that communication was critical for me and they responded: I spoke with my representative at ABC Moving and Storage (Rhonda) on a daily basis and got at least 6 phone calls directly from the truck driver during the moving process. In other words, I knew exactly where my stuff was and when. On pick up and delivery, Allied arranged for a "shuttle truck" so a smaller truck could pick up my shipment and take it to their 18 wheeler - or deliver it from their 18-wheeler. Part of the reason that you'll find Allied's rate to be MUCH better than other moving companies is that they are able to take more than one shipment at a time, but can make sure they don't need to bring their huge truck to your city apartment building. Also on pick up and delivery, their driver and his crew went to good effort to wrap every piece of furniture and they delivered us our entire load without a scratch. Very disappointing as I wasted time that could have been used on finding another mover. They seemed truly uninterested in their confusion. Worst move in 29 years and 7 moves! Broken items - all of our lamps - broken, shattered. Shelves gouged, broken, desk broken, falling apart. Missing items, worst customer service representative we have ever dealt with. Do not use this company! Moved our entire household from one truck to another prior to delivery - unpacking a reverse packed truck has added to the stress of moving. We will never get our belongings back or restored, but we would like to keep others from having a similar experience. All movers charge the same rate, the only thing they have to offer is customer service - this is missing from this company. read more

We had a small move from MA to TX to bring our son home from college. While it was a bit pricey, I trusted Allied. They showed up on time, kept us notified about the delivery schedule and again, showed up when promised. read more

According to our agreement our move should have cost $5K. Here is what they did to increase our bill. Our rep Bill Close told us to tip the movers to throw out some of the items we didn't want. They left those items on the truck when it was weighed to calc our costs. The packers filled boxes with paper and small items to increase the carton count. We put items into our furniture to reduce carton count, but the packers took all items out and put them into cartons with mostly paper. 4 of our 6 file 2-drawer cabinets arrived with major damage. We told Bill Close about our experiences and he refused to make any adjustments. We contacted the HQ customer service. Also a dead-end. We ended up paying nearly twice what we should have. Our delivering driver told us about the truck being weighed with items that were then tossed out. Dishonest company. Do not recommend. read more
