We called J G Perry Plumbing and Heating in a panic and told them that our water heater was under warranty but was leaking. We'd called several other plumbers and by the time we got return calls from the other plumbers, J G Perry Plumbing and Heating had already dispatched a person to our house who showed up within 15 minutes of our call. The person came to the house, immediately pumped the tank and shut everything off to prevent further damage. We were worried that we couldn't get a replacement water heater for a while since it's not traditionally in stock. J G Perry Plumbing and Heating called us the next morning at 6am to let us know they hadn't forgotten about us and that they got a water heater and would install it that day. The men came to the house at 10am, bringing the new water heater, drapes to protect our finished basement and equipment to install everything. In less than 18 hours, we had a new functioning water heater. We were so thankful to have called them and really appreciated the prompt response and help.

They charge $99 for a consult, but it can be used towards repairs. They diagnosed the issue and then wrote up a proposal to fix it for $900. It sounded expensive, but we already paid the $99 and didn't want to start over again from scratch so we agreed. The plumber also misled us about how simple the fix actually was. It ended up taking him about 20 minutes to replace a 3-foot section of pipe with PVC. He also "forgot" about the $99 credit deal and tried to charge us $1000 and we had to call him on it before he would agree to honor the agreement. So they fixed the issue, the job seems to have been done well. But we way overpaid and every step of the interaction felt designed to mislead and extract as much money as possible from us. Not going to use them again in the future.

Talk about feeling stupid! Here is the long story... 2 winter ago, we had a house full of guests staying for the winter holidays. Our demand for the hot water shot up significantly. On one of the trips down to the basement to bring up more supply, I noticed that there was a small pool of water by one of the 2 water heaters on the floor. We called these guys in since they have been "our plumbers" for several years and came highly recommended by our neighbors. And 1 week and $1500 later we got ourselves a new water heater. Yay! Although, I never noticed any more water on the basement floor and asked so when the crew came to install the new one. They told me some crazy "the metal contracts when water is cooled (we had turned off this heater by this time), that's why there is no water leaking". It didn't sound right at the time since Logically the hole should have gotten bigger if metal contacts. We just wanted the problem solved so we went ahead with it. We recently had the house energy audit by Mass Save. The auditor told us that the new, not the old, water heater didn't pass the backdraft test and is leaking CO Back into house. And since the other heater next to it is functioning fine. He doesn't think it's a chimney issue. Add salt to the wound is that after I researched on the Internet, I now realized the small pool of water on the floor was a normal phenomenon for the heater to relieve additional pressure under high demand. You bet we are not calling them back ever. I am now debating if I should complain to BBB and the company owner directly.
