What a vibe! I woke up Wednesday morning craving a massage, and I stumbled upon this business on Yelp. Initially skeptical -- I like to check out new spots based on friends' recommendations and such -- although really impressed with their reviews. I called at 10am on Wednesday for a same-day, evening massage and they offered me 5/5:15pm appointment. They asked what type of message I wanted and I said somewhere in between "firm" and "relaxation". I arrived around 5:15pm, and was greeted by Andrew at the front desk. Their energy was soothing and overall, omitted a positive aura. Andrew showed me to my room with Pasana, and the room is your average massage space. I'm a minimalist, so my personal mantra is "less is more." Pasana's energy is gentle, and their hands work wonders! I've never had a massage like the one I had from Pasana. Scheduled 3 massages for my family and I, the owner replied promptly and was able to accommodate our requests which was appreciated. They have independent massage therapists that come to the studio. The studio itself is in small complex with easy parking. Space is clean, cute and very nicely decorated. Rooms are also clean, private and comfortable. The three of us were very happy with our 90 min massages and they do have recommended tip amounts so that the therapists are tipped appropriately. Felt like a piece of meat - monotonous strokes on back (told him to move on x 3) he used his elbows as rolling pins over my knots vs working to release them. I am very disappointed to give this place a review of one star but it must be noted for future guests and management. When I called to make an appointment , I requested to get a Swedish massage excluding deep tissue, Thai , and specially no elbows or forearms, as I have an old hip injury and a couple of discs on my vertebrae. The lady on the phone said that it should not be an issue and so I went ahead with the appointment. When it was time to get the massage and was greeted by the masseuse, I reiterated all of the above request and to my surprise the masseuse got defensive and made a comment that there will be some kind of pressure applied but reassured me of not using elbows and applying pressure on my hip and spine. She was good about the vertebrae but still managed to go hard and used forearms on my hips and lower back. Unfortunately, this caused my right hip to get out of alignment. I will not be returning to this place. Management needs to pay attention to guests requests and be sensitive to possible injuries that they might have. Very unprofessional and not transparent. Be aware of what you are getting yourself into if you have injuries!! Not for me. read more

Best massage I've ever had. I have been getting massages since I was 12 because I have always struggled with back pain due to my disability. I've had some great massages but I never really felt a difference after. Right when Kate saw my back she could tell I was in pain/had tension just by looking at it. I felt so relaxed and it hurt in a good way on the tense parts. Usually I feel lethargic after a massage but I felt rejuvenated and my pain was non existent. While they offer Swedish and less intense massages, think it's best to stick with the rigorous ones as that's wed hat the therapists seem to know best! I found Abbot Massage thru a friend and have been working with Andrew and Pasana. They do great deep tissue work with very little frills. Andrew is very strong so only use him when you need it. I had lunch in the Marina today and drove by and saw Abbot Massage on my way back. Popped in to see if there were any last minute appts for a walk in. It worked out. They just opened up and they had an opening within 20 minutes. I got an hour massage with Mona. It was fantastic. I was a bit full from lunch so her medium pressure was perfect for me to help digestion. She asked at the beginning if I wanted back walking so I'm assuming she can crank up the pressure. It's been too long since I've been in a private room for a massage. Throughout covid I was only able to get outdoor massages. And all these new studios seem to have semi private rooms with open tops or curtains. I didn't realize how much I miss the silence.
