Before our massage/nail service, we were seated outdoors in the patio area and served complimentary fruit, tea, and champagne. The vibe outside was so cute and relaxing. It felt breezy and nice. The masseuses came out to put heated neck wraps on our shoulders and soak our feet in water with rose petals and rub our feet. We had fun chatting with them. The people working here are so friendly and fun! Our services were great as well, which included facials, swedish and thai massages, and a manicure. Love that there is an attached nail salon. We came in a large group of 8 but they were able to fit us all in the same appointment time. We paired up in rooms for the massages. After our service, they served us delicious coconut water and more snacks/drinks. The owner even surprised me with a little ice cream, and sang a birthday song, and gave us a bunch of spoons for us to share. They brought out a sweet sixteen sign for fun even though I'm definately way older haha. All of us had a lot of fun and laughs. Thank you so much for giving us the best time and making me feel special :) It exceeded my expectations and is memory I'll take away with me. Highly recommend for a girls day here!

The staff were…read moregenuinely kind and trying hard, but the whole experience felt like a neighborhood massage spot with luxury-spa ambitions. The amenities were cheap, the AC wasn't working, appointments ran late, and the operation felt held together by good intentions. Somehow a massage and facial became an almost four-hour adventure. The massage was fine. The facial was terrible. No one was rude--the place was just spectacularly unpolished. If you're looking for a basic neighborhood massage, you may be perfectly happy. If the website has you picturing a serene, elevated spa experience, lower that vision several floors. I went in for relaxation and left needing a glass of real wine and a legitimate spa day.

They worked hard on my shoulders, but I felt like my lower back was barely worked on. They also had some interesting massage techniques I've never experienced elsewhere which made me feel slightly uncomfortable, but overall it was still a relaxing massage. Overall it's probably nice to go here if you're staying at the hotel, but I wouldn't pay $200 + valet to just come for a massage. Facilities are nice though and staff was friendly.

I signed up for the premium monthly membership at Simply Massage Burke Williams because a friend of…read moremine is a massage therapist there, and I was genuinely excited about the value--$135/month for an 80-minute massage with a "complimentary upgrade" like deep tissue or sports massage sounded like a great deal. Unfortunately, my recent experience was really disappointing. Since my friend wasn't available, I booked with a different therapist and asked for the deep tissue upgrade. Before we started, I clearly explained that I'm a distance runner and was looking for something between a sports massage and deep tissue: focused work, but not the kind of super intense pressure that leaves you sore for days. The massage therapist was so nice and I really thought we were aligned. But pretty quickly, something felt off. It took me a while to realize what it was, but there was no music playing at the start of the session. The therapist didn't turn it on until 20-30 minutes in, which made the whole beginning feel awkward and not very relaxing. There were also some basic details that were missed. I had forgotten to put my hair up, and instead of helping manage it (like placing a towel over it, which most therapists do) my hair kept getting caught and falling onto my neck. Rather than addressing it, the therapist just avoided working on my neck altogether which is an area that really needed attention. As for the massage itself, the technique just didn't meet expectations. At times it felt like the therapist was attempting pressure point work, but without enough pressure to actually be effective. I did mention that I could handle more pressure, but there wasn't much adjustment. Overall, it didn't feel like a deep tissue or sports massage, more like a very light, unfocused session that didn't address what I had communicated beforehand. I left feeling frustrated and honestly pretty upset that I had used my monthly massage on an experience that didn't meet my needs. I typically tip 20-30%, but this time I only tipped 15% because of how disappointed I was. I ended up sitting in my car afterward and crying because I was so frustrated--both that the massage didn't help when I really needed it, and that I hadn't been more assertive in the moment. To their credit, when I reached out afterward, a manager named Jamal was kind and responsive. However, he said he wasn't local to the Marina del Rey location and would pass my concerns along. That was a week ago, and I haven't heard anything since. The lack of follow-up only adds to the frustration. Since I'm locked into a 6-month membership, I'll have to give it another try, but moving forward I'll likely only book with my friend and won't continue after my contract ends. Overall, this experience didn't match the level of quality or professionalism I expected from a place with Burke Williams' reputation.

I was simply told that they had a fan running, but the room still felt unbearably warm throughout the service. This was around mid July, when it was hot in LA. The music was also distracting because the volume kept going in and out (loud one moment and turned off or quiet the next) which made it difficult to relax. As for the massage itself, it felt more like light petting than an actual massage. The pressure and technique were very underwhelming and nowhere near what I expected for the price. Also, WARNING: this place does not automatically provide you with a shower. Even if you use the barrel sauna and have a massage afterward, the shower may apparently be "reserved" for someone else. So you can end up leaving sweaty and covered in massage oil with no way to rinse off. For what they charge, the entire experience felt poorly managed and like a total rip-off. I would not return.

It's more of a full experience, he works in hot stones, cupping, and stretching along with the actual bodywork, and everything flows together in a way that leaves you feeling balanced from head to toe, not just loosened up in one spot. My honest advice: splurge and book 90 minutes or more if you can. The shorter sessions are good, but the extra time is what lets JJ really get to every part of your body and do his thing properly.
