I had some trouble with two of our doors. The doors were both broken, and one door was completely stuck. The doors were vertical locks which aren't readily available in the states, but could be shipped from overseas. This company diagnosed the problem and long story short, quoted me over $1000.00 to fix the problem, and there's indicated that it could be even more expensive, due to any 'unforeseen problems.' They charged my a trip charge on top of that. I thought they were overcharging me and there was a shady feel to them. I paid the 75$ trip charge and sent them on their way. I called Carlsbad Lock and Key for a second estimate and guess what? NO trip charge if I don't use their services AND half the price! Two doors for $500.00. Completely trustworthy and fair. I stand by my review. Uneducated? Well-I never claimed to be an expert in doors. Confused? Yes Abba Locksmith was very unclear. * I wanted to address the text where Abba claimed to offer to fix the stuck door for $350 and the open door for $150. To go down so substantially in price to what had formerly been proposed was suspicious. It was the complete bait and switch. We didn't trust him by this point. Furthermore, what this 'expert' is failing to clarify is that with the lower price point offer-the lock system itself would have been changed to a completely different kind of lock and therefore would have had to been filled in with wood putty and patched and painted. He wasn't offering to do that within this estimate. read more

After I wrote my initial review Robert reached out to me to discuss the prices he charged. He realized that he miscalculated the amount of time he spent working at my house. He apologized and sent me a check refunding 94.25 of my payment. He ended up charging me 45 to install and fix the jam, 25 to rekey, 30 for the trip, totaling 104.25 after tax. I really appreciate the fact that he reached out to me personally and wanted to do what he could to make sure I was 100% satisfied. read more

Fast and easy mailbox lock change, saved me from going to post office every week and begging them to open the box for me after I moved!

Very efficient and prompt with our request. Estimates don't really reflect costs of service as work was more costly that projected but not exorbitant when compared on open market. Best to understand exactly what will be needed ( cost of cylinders, no current key as a template, etc) all of which add up but this isn't a ding for that. Happy with work and professional approach. read more
