There was some initial confusion over the accrued charges, but we worked them out to a final bill that was very reasonable. I have to take ownership for my side of the confusion. I am the owner of a local Real Estate and Property Management Company, and I needed a locksmith to rekey several locks at one of my managed properties. My go-to locksmith was out of town for this go-around, so I found Beach Cities Lock and Key on Google. I called on Friday, and spoke with Jack, the owner of the company. We arranged to meet at the property for the work to be done at 10am on Saturday. 10am came and went, and no sign of the locksmith. At 10:15am, I decided to give Jack a call, and he seemed surprised that his associate was not there yet. He told me he would find out what was going on, and would call right back. Jack did call right back, and informed me that his associate was running late on another job...but this associate never called me, or anything, to let me know this. Jack offered to come right out, and he did. He arrived, and began the rekey on the property at 10:35am. The work was completed satisfactorily by 12 noon. The work was done well, but I would definitely expect better service from a company such as this. If you say you are going to meet someone at a certain time, you should either be there at that time, or give notice that you are running late. Common courtesy. I should not have to call to see where you are. At the end of the rekey session, I paid the invoice by credit card. The charges were reasonable, but I think some discount should have been offered for the inconvenience of having to wait around with nothing to do at a vacant property that isn't even my own. I missed another appointment because of this incident. I ended up paying a $39.00 "service call" fee, that could have easily been waived for the inconvenience that this caused. I also did not receive a receipt for payment on this service. Unfortunately, I won't be using this locksmith again, and maybe you should think twice before you do so, as well.... read more

The other locksmith charged $170 to rip the handle off (spilling his blood on my door in the process.) He then took off right after, claiming my door was too old to replace the knob and lock. There I was with blood on my door and a missing handle and gaping hole. Feeling frantic, I decided to go on yelp to find an ACTUAL locksmith. These guys were great. They came when they said they would, replaced the handle the other idiot ripped off and rekeyed the lock in less time and a lower total price than what the other locksmith charged to destroy my door. Im grateful for the professionalism of Beach Cities Lock and Key. I wish I would've found them here first instead of trusting google. A very expensive lesson learned. read more

After calling a few different locksmiths, I was feeling pretty disheartened at the lack of customer service out there. But, since we needed new locks and keys for our new office, I decided to give it one more go. I went on Yelp and found Beach Cities Lock and Key and decided to give them a call. From the moment Robert answered the phone, he was professional and courteous. And even though he had just finished another job, a few towns over, he and his associate came over immediately. Our doors had not seen TLC in years, the previous owners did not take very good care of them, but Robert managed to spruce them up and made 15 keys, in about an hour. Now we know who to call whenever we need keys made or adjustments made to our locks (he's coming out again, today, for some mail keys!). It's so nice to have a reliable, trustworthy and local locksmith! I will even use him for my home and plan on recommending Beach Cities Lock and Key to friends. This business is as good as it gets! I needed to change the locks at my house in a big hurry. I found Beach Cities on Yelp and noticed they had a 5-Star rating. I called them at 7:45 on a Friday morning. They answered right away and with in a few unites I had my appointment set up for a time that was convenient for me. When I called and talked to Rob I could tell I called the right place. He was very professional mixed with a great sense of humor. I really appreciated that. Just before he was scheduled to show up I had to call & let him know the gate code for my house. I called the office and gave them the code & they passed it along to him right away.
