Turns out there were mice living down there that we had no idea about. One even fell on a worker while they were pulling out the old stuff. Made sure to tell my wife who was on the fence originally about having this done. Big difference since then. No more mice sightings, heating bills are noticeably lower, and the house stays comfortable even when it's really cold outside. Solid work all around. Falling behind on this, I was pushing late Nov to get new insulation installed and panicking as temps dropped daily. Robert / Attic Air were booked through the end of the year but they found time to fit me in for 800 sq ft (I think by working an unscheduled vacation Sat morning). They did a great job! They use the Owens Corning fiberglass, non-toxic and clean! Did not try to push or upsell me. Didn't push the toxic cellulose (don't want toxic pesticide saturated paper in my attic, we breadth that air!). They are pros and they do insulation very well!

I live in a ranch home built in the 1950s - a fairly common build for the Chicago area. ARC…read moreprovided a quote ( without visiting our home) that included the following sentence, "Please confirm exterior walls are framed 2x4". I told the rep that other companies have inspected our home and stated that our walls are suitable for blown in insulation. ARC never came to visit our home - while their competitors did this as a standard account management cycle. Fast forward to this week, I was ready to sign the agreement and pay the deposit - the rep asked me to confirm the 2x4 framing. I asked him how he wanted me to do this - he suggested I drill pilot holes in each wall or pay a 3rd party to do this and that ARC was not responsible for verifying the details of our home. Not responsible for validating a critical project detail before having you customer pay thousands of dollars?! Extremely poor customer service and frankly, a lazy sales team. I am sure the crews doing the work are great, but the accounts team could use a refresh. I will work with a competitor unless ARC has employees willing to visit their prospective customers!
