Paragon Insulation has done an excellent job for me twice this year. The first time in January, I had Randy come out to quote attic sealing and insulation. While he was there to provide the quote, he noticed the kitchen floor was really cold (he took off his shoes when he entered the house). He pulled out his thermal camera and we saw the floor was 30-40F! I had noticed that area of the kitchen was cold in winter, but didn't realize it was coming from the floor, where kitchen is cantilevered out past the foundation wall. He proposed insulating the cantilevered area with spray foam, and then said he could insulate all the rim joists in the basement for the same price. A week or so later, while he was onsite doing the insulating, I mentioned I was going to finish the basement later in the year, and expected to use 3 inch foam panels. He suggested using spray foam instead since that would give me a few inches more space in the room. He gave me a price and I said I'd think about it. As I thought about it, I realized getting a few more inches in the room, and also getting a better sealing product would be worth it, and would save me many hours of labor and a lot of material costs. In summer, I started work on the basement project, and once I had the framing up and electrical roughed in, I called (now July) to schedule the spray foam. Randy honored the price from January, scheduled the job quickly, and it looks great! Something I especially appreciate about Randy and Paragon is that the guy who quotes the job actually does the job; it's not some sales guy, it's the owner who quotes AND does the work! Because of that, any questions get answered and you know exactly who is accountable for quality and completion. I did get other quotes for the attic, and Paragon was very competitive. I really appreciated Randy's suggestions, and they did not feel like a sales pitch; it felt like I was getting good options to consider that would solve a problem I had. read more

Nobody enjoys pouring money into the parts of their home they never see -- attics, crawl spaces, and the like. But when those areas need attention, it's essential that the work is done right and by someone you can trust. Randy and the team at Paragon Insulation & Services delivered an experience I'd recommend to anyone. My attic was poorly ventilated -- damp, musty, and overdue for attention. After deciding to bring in a professional, Randy came out to my home, thoroughly assessed the problem areas, and put together a detailed quote on the spot. The scope of work included removal of the existing insulation, air sealing around all attic entry points, sanitizing, air baffle installation, and installation of new Weather Blanket cellulose insulation. The new cellulose achieves an R-value that meets or exceeds Illinois code requirements. Paragon's pricing was competitive, though admittedly a bit higher than some of the larger corporate outfits. What made the difference was Randy's willingness to walk me through the entire plan and clearly explain what justified the investment. That transparency, combined with the comfort of working with a local, owner-operated business, made the decision easy. The crew came in and completed the job in about half a day -- fast, efficient, and clean. The entire process was documented with photos and videos, all of which were included with the final invoice. While up in the attic, they even took the time to correct some substandard work a prior contractor had left behind on my bathroom exhaust fans. I couldn't be happier with the results. I've already noticed a meaningful improvement in temperature consistency and overall comfort throughout my home. If you're looking for a trustworthy, professional insulation contractor, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paragon Insulation & Services. read more

Randy and his team did a great job on our attic and crawl space. We had ice dams bad this winter, and my house looked worse than the neighbors'. One night the heat went out and the indoor temp dropped to 49 degrees, so that sealed the deal, we needed better insulation. They also encapsulated the crawl space with spray foam. Turns out there were mice living down there that we had no idea about. One even fell on a worker while they were pulling out the old stuff. Made sure to tell my wife who was on the fence originally about having this done. Big difference since then. No more mice sightings, heating bills are noticeably lower, and the house stays comfortable even when it's really cold outside. Solid work all around. I'd recommend them if you're dealing with the same issues. read more

I requested quote, they were fast to respond that I am Outside of service area for Paragon, though yelp map shows I am within their service area. I am disappointed as they seem to have overall good reviews. 5 stars for speed of reply. read more

Background: Our home is 25 years old, with a vaulted ceiling in the family room and attic over the upstairs bedrooms. My husband has been on blood thinners for at least 5 years and always complains of the cold inside in the winter. We have tried various other solutions which did not really make the house feel warmer. Solution: Two weeks ago my husband called Paragon Services. Randy promptly came out to check our existing insulation. Yes, we had "some", but more would improve our situation. We were shown pictures of the existing insulation in the attic and given an estimate. Randy was very knowledgeable and helpful. We agreed on the price and set up a date two weeks in the future. I needed to call Paragon's office a couple of times to ask a few more questions and Lindsay in the office was very helpful and prompt returning calls. The day of installation (January 20, 2026) we received a call from Lindsay saying the crew was on the way. They arrived promptly, came inside and started prepping for the installation. They were going to use the bedroom window, but could not, so they had to bring their equipment in through the front door and up the front staircase. It was very cold that day, and they had to leave the front door open. My husband and I were amazed at the short amount of time installation took. Randy showed us video and photos of the work that they had done while his crew took everything back out to their truck. They did a wonderful job cleaning up after and were respectful of our property. For all of these reasons we happily recommend Paragon services and Randy for any insulation needs you may have. I will say that I was skeptical as to whether this would make a difference, but I am happy to say that for the first time in 25 years, my bedroom ( farthest from furnace and in winter always coldest in the house) is now staying 68 degrees even though the thermostat is set at 63 for the night! Thank you, Paragon Services, Randy and Lindsay. Best regards Dan and Paula Meier read more

Randy gave us a fair assessment of our attic issues when he came for an inspection. Once we accepted the estimate the work was promptly scheduled. The crew arrived on time, completed the job including a thorough cleanup. The company was easy to work with. read more

Randy and the entire team were outstanding! Everyone was friendly and professional, but more importantly, they ensured that the work was completed timely and with exceptional attention to detail. We recently had our basement fully encapsulated by Randy and his teammate. It was truly amazing that they could fit into the narrow confine of a 1940s crawlspace. They cleaned the space thoroughly, laid the plastic evenly throughout the underside of our home, and then sprayed insulation foam. The entire space looks clean and fresh and well insulated. Randy is very much the expert and easy to work with. Scheduling began with a call to Lindsay in the office, who scheduled Randy for the estimate. We received a quote on the spot which resulted in completing the work in a short timeframe. We appreciate the care and quality of the work we received! Thanks Randy and team! Craig C read more

We were badly in need of an insulation expert for a long time! We were very pleased with Randy and his team! One of the exterior walls of our home was discovered to have zero insulation and the attic needed more. Work was performed exactly as described and overall levels of professionalism and courtesy were great. We anticipate being able to significantly reduce or even discontinue the use of our ugly space heater! Only wish we had done this sooner it was so easy dealing with Paragon. read more

Randy the owner came out and did the estimate. He was knowledgeable, helpful and informative. Price was very reasonable, too, so I accepted the estimate. Dan and his team came out a week later to install the insulation. Everything was perfect! They needed more insulation than they originally had on the truck, so they had to go back to their shop to get more. When it came time to pay, the estimate was the price I paid, even though they needed more insulation than expected. I love local small businesses who are run by stand-up individuals. Paragon is one such company! Thanks, Randy! BTW, I live in Crystal Lake, IL. No idea why Yelp says I am in California! read more

Did work in our attic and we did not notice a temperature change. Came back to review and said there were no issues. Finally hired a different company who fixed everything that Paragon claimed to do. Would not recommend. Edit: owner promised a refund. Moving on! read more

If you need insulation, check Paragon out. I recently had them out to my drafty, old house. Instead of selling me on their services, they gave me an honest assessment of my situation, and recommended I wait to do any work until I put a new roof on. Stand up company. read more

We have a new construction home and we had concerns about airflow and relative temperature for my daughter's room, which is above our garage. Our garage gets quite cold when it's very cold outside as the external walls are not insulated. Randy came by and thoroughly examined my daughter's room via infrared, showing that while having an uninsulated space below wasn't optimal there was not too much temperature creepage from that source. He showed me the output from his IR device and talked me through what was going on thermally and what our options were. He easily could have recommended a expensive jackhammer solution to kill my (relative) ant of a problem but he did not. He gave us his professional and personal experience and we were thankful for it. I learned a lot and was happy to have someone of such honesty and professionalism to help me! Aside from the great in-home experience, the engagement all throughout was handled with wonderful professionalism, with great communication in initial discussion, scheduling, and notification on the day. I highly recommend Paragon and Randy! read more

Randy is amazing to work with! We knew we wanted our garage insulated and called him for an estimate. He was prompt in coming to us (even as a storm was fast approaching), very friendly and informative about the process, and the price couldn't be beat! On the day of the install, he and his guys arrived on time and got right to work. They were very courteous of our belongings to make sure that none of the debris from the spray foam would get anywhere else. They worked quickly and the job is amazing. We have already noticed a difference in our garage going through this first winter. We would highly recommend Paragon and Randy! In fact we have used them in our basement and plan to use him again soon. read more

We saw Paragon at our neighbors house and decided to give them a try. Randy came out to give us a quote and was very knowledgeable and advised on the best options without trying to upsell us for stuff that we didn't actually need. We were able to get an appointment a few days after our quote which was great. The day of the appointment the team showed up on time and did a great job with adding both blown in insulation in our attic and over garage space. We also got spray foam done in the basement and on the wall between the garage and guest bedroom. Overall the service was great and the team was great to work with, they even brought two balls for our dogs to play with to distract them from barking while they worked. Definitely would recommend to others as we immediately saw a change in the temp retention the day after the install. read more

I live in an old house and our attic roofline was full of hard to reach nooks and crannies. They got it done quickly, and cleaned up after themselves. Since then my house is already noticeably warmer. I like to collect statistics about things around my house, previously my attic would be only 10 degrees warmer at best than the outside, now my attic is within a few degrees of the rest of the house! The rest of the house also keeps temperature and my furnace is running a lot less! read more

Randy and his team do a great job - fast and efficient. My garage was quickly and soundly insulated. My so-so rating is because in addition to being a client of Paragon I am also a vendor. As an update to this review and in response to Paragon's response, I did not imply that Paragon is at fault for my roof buckling; however, their crews did install baffles directly on mold that had formed on the roof boards without so much as a mention of it and vented the bathroom vents directly into the attic which, despite what Paragon says, IS NOT up to code per article M1507.2 of the International Residential Code of which my town abides. read more

Just had our Wisconsin cabin crawl space insulated. Paragon were very prompt to come and assess and explained the process. Whole spraying took under 2 hours (900 sq ft). Unfortunately the insulation oozed out of a few of the side crawlspace vents and all over a grill cover- little bit disappointed that this wasn't checked before they left the premises. Also two brand new electric heaters that were int he crawl space were accidentally sprayed. The owner Randy came out the next day and cleaned up the spillage and compensated us $$ for the heaters. Fingers crossed it reduces our energy costs this winter. read more

I interviewed quite a few different Insulation Companies to find a company that was knowledgeable and offered a fair pricing. I was not necessarily looking for the lowest price, but an honest price based on the work I was requesting. Nic came out and did more than just pop his head up into the attic, he got up there and looked around, noting things to recommend. The home was built in 1969 and had about 6" of blown in Cellulose. He talked about different options from adding Cellulose over the existing to removing everything and going with either a spray in foam or going with blown in fiberglass. He gave me the pros and cons of each option as well as the costs associated with each. I was impressed with the knowledge Nic brought to that table and settled for what we felt would provide us the most comfort. He also offered a solution to help us with pipes that are prone to freezing when ever the temps drop below freezing using their spray foam. We set a date that was about two weeks out and as we got closer to the install date, the owner (Randy) called to see if we could move the install UP with a pending snow storm set to roll in. Their spray in Cellulose team arrived on time, installed baffles and tape measures in the attic prior to spraying in the Cellulose. There weren't to many areas that needed to be sealed which they addressed before doing the rest of the work. They sprayed enough Cellulose to being the total depth to 18". As they were wrapping thing up in the upper attic, Randy arrived with the Spray Foam to address the exposed pipes we were having issues with. He and his team were SUPER professional and answered many additional questions thrown at then giving us additional comfort in the decision we made to go with Paragon. Paragon finished by adding insulation to a separate part of the home, a family room area with its own attic, bringing the total depth there to 20". They cleaned everything up when they were done and were here maybe a total of 2.5 hours. First night we started to experience an immediate difference in comfort. Rooms and areas that HAD a chill or bite in the air were now comfortable and held their heat. We no longer bundle up in blankets in the family room as the room stays warm and really comfortable!! Did Paragon do anything "magical"? No. But they were very professional and their pricing I felt was fair and honest. The work was done to scope and they had no problems taking before and after photos to show the work that was done. I would gladly recommend Randy and the rest of the Paragon team to anyone needing insulation work done on their home!! read more

Randy gave us a very honest advise. We valued it the most. We did not need to refresh our insulation nor top it up. Nor was there any issue in our attic. And he told us that. Loved it! Thank you for being honest. read more

The initial service call for closed-cell foam insulation went very well, they explained what was being done, managed the process, taking care to protect the floors when bringing in the hoses. Shortly afterward we found a couple of areas that seemed to have questionable coverage - the installation was in the basement on the foundation rim so it was difficult to reach and get pictures. As soon as I communicated this to the company, with pictures, they responded and Randy came out to check and do a touch-up. Communication was always fast and very positive, and the customer service is simply outstanding. read more

They gave me a price over the phone for spray foam, which I asked for via yelp, then when they arrived to do the job they said they were told fiberglass insulation. The spray foam turned out to be more than triple the price and they wouldn't budge an inch. Classic bait and switch! read more

Randy is THE guy you want for spray foam insulation. We live in a house that's almost 100 years old and decided to remodel the basement. There was no question that we needed spray foam especially since the house was never equipped with a drain tile and sump. The closed cell spray foam seals out water so it's worth every penny above the traditional fiberglass stuff. As soon as they were finished, the entire basement was remarkably warmer than it ever had been. The results were instant. Also note: we passed inspection with one of the toughest inspectors in the city. Randy runs a tight crew and has the highest expectations. He's fair, honest, trustworthy, and a friend I can always count on. read more

Thank you very much Paragon! It was a job I became overwhelmed with when I decided to try and re-insulate in my crawlspace and found it had been invaded and used as a safe house by animals over the years. My first contact, Amy, was fantastic and assured me they could take care of everything and had seen it before. Randy and his professional and friendly team took care of this awful mess. They also discovered a dead possum under the rubble and removed it as well. They encapsulated and spray foamed and we were very pleased with the result. Their prices were fair and they provided full service on this messy job. Thanks to all of you at Paragon for all your hard work. It is appreciated! Wayne & Aggie Des Plaines, IL. read more

I hired Randy to spray foam insulate my crawlspace last summer. He showed up on time. He was professional. The only issue is a small area got missed. I called him up and he apologized and said he could be back out quickly. It rained like crazy for weeks afterward so my yard was very wet. He contacted me during that rainy spell to let me know he hadn't forgotten about me but wanted it to dry out so that his trailer didn't leave ruts. Well, it rained and rained some more. It rained so damn much I forgot about the crawlspace. I just went into the crawlspace today. Unbeknownst to me, Randy had come back and fixed his error. I'd leave 4.5 stars if I could because I'm impressed that he stuck by his word. I'd hire him again in the future. Mistakes happen.
