I was given 2 "loaner cars" which were disgusting - the first one had ash everywhere and also had a check engine while they "worked" on the car I bought. Then the 2nd loaner - they tried to have make me switch cars so they could sell me a car that passed smog but it wasn't the car we wanted... he kept postponing delivery. I went through 6 months of promises before I called the bank to cancel the agreement and return the loaner. The owner signed a contract to return my deposit within 30 days. And nothing. I am taking them to small claims. I should have known better when I walked in to a disgusting office with ash and files and trash everywhere. They took my $6000 deposit- sold me a lemon, signed a contract to cancel and return my deposit, and then kept postponing my repayment. I'm literally in the process of filing a complaint with the BBB and small claims. The bank had no issue canceling my loan AS THE CONTRACT WAS NEVER FULFILLED. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE SCAMMERS!! They Knew I Needed This Money Urgently - Still Withheld $17,251…read more I had just returned from Florida after 2 months caring for my mother who passed away July 27th. My finances were devastated from being away so long. I made the painful decision to sell my car to pay rent and catch up on bills. When I saw Driveo's promise - "We understand how important it is to know your financial obligations to your lender have been met. We make pay-offs immediately and even give you a copy of the pay-off check to your lender." I felt relief. They seemed to understand people sell cars because they NEED the money. I drove 90 minutes believing I'd leave with funds to pay my rent. What Driveo Actually Is: A bait-and-switch operation that secretly delivers you to a dealership. Every email, text, and confirmation said "Driveo." Not ONE mention of Scott Robinson CDJR until I arrived. The Deception: - Promised: "immediate payment" and "leave with cash" - Reality: Arrived to find no Driveo office - just a Honda dealership - After they had my car, presented a dealer waiver stating they "cannot guaranty how long" before releasing funds - My $17,251: Still withheld after 17+ days The Human Cost: While Driveo/Scott Robinson sits on my $17,251, I'm facing eviction. They knew from their own website promises that people counting on these funds need them immediately. They deliberately deceived me when I was most vulnerable. The Pattern: Driveo presents itself as understanding that "financial obligations" matter. They're right - they do matter. Rent matters. Not becoming homeless after losing your mother matters. That's why their deliberate deception is so cruel. They use these promises to lure desperate sellers, then deliver them to dealers who impose completely different terms. Facts: - Zero disclosure of dealership involvement until arrival - Waiver contradicts ALL advertised terms - Filed complaints with CA Attorney General & DMV - Exploring legal options If you're in financial distress and need your money quickly, DO NOT USE DRIVEO. They prey on people who need immediate funds, then trap you in a dealer transaction with no timeline for payment. They got their car. I'm still waiting for my rent money.

I was about to sell my 2012 Camry to CarMax near LAX, and looked online at the usual alternatives:…read moreCarvana, Shift, etc. Up popped up Driveo (which apparently is pronounced 'drive-AY-o'). I went to their web site, which said actual people computed an offer price (rather than a computer spitting out an instant offer). I included several pictures of the Camry. It was 12 years old, but great condition. I pointed out the door dings, rash on the wheels, whatever imperfections (because I didn't want to drive down there to be lowballed). The number they offered me was way more than Carmax, and I thought it was too good to be true...but I called out of curiosity. Randy said I could come down that day or the following week, but they couldn't pay me until Monday. I thought I should check it out, so I drove down there. I went looking for some rinky-dink office, and was surprised to see they were inside Scott Robinson Honda dealer in Torrance. I talked to Randy and met Daniel, his boss. They had the Camry put on a lift and looked over; I waited in the waiting area. After about an hour or so, Randy came back and said, "Well, the car needs a bit of work: The tires need to be replaced and the brakes need work. We need to put in about $2000; can you meet us half way, and do $1000 less than what we quoted?" I thought it was a reasonable ask. This was still $2900 more than Carmax (and I thought was more in line with the car's actual value, since it was in great condition (despite the brakes squeaking) and still looked really sharp). I signed a couple of papers, and went over on Monday to hand over the extra (second) key. Daniel handed me a check. I couldn't believe how easy and stream-lined the whole process was. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I wanted to sell my Toyota Corolla 2013 and been comparing the prices with a few dealers. I ended up choosing Gulliver because of the price and their services. The offer price from Gulliver was about same with others but Gulliver is more open for negotiations with full of used car knowledge and nation wide connections. Mr. Miyatake, who took care of me, also offered one of the best customer experiences. They serviced my car many times before, both routine and not, and it always went well. What really stood out to me this time is I didn't feel like bringing my 16 year old car to them was a burden. Took a 90 minute Uber to South Bay Mazda to buy a car after my sales rep promised in writing that…read morethey would cover the Uber. When I got there, I brought it up again and was told the Uber needed to be booked through their account, not mine, and that they would have to get approval from the GM the next day. I wasn't happy about that answer, but I was still willing to move forward with the purchase. Before they ran my credit, I was very clear that I was only interested in Mazda's 0% financing for 36 months. I have very good credit and expected this to be a pretty straightforward process. Instead, after waiting, my salesperson came back and told me Mazda hadn't responded yet, but they could get me approved through Capital One at 1.99% and get me out the door sooner. That really rubbed me the wrong way. I specifically came in asking for Mazda's 0% financing, so I didn't understand why they were suddenly pushing a 1.99% Capital One loan instead. I later called and was told my credit score was 815, which made the whole situation even more frustrating. I negotiated a very good price on the car, so from my perspective, it felt like they may have been trying to make some of that money back through financing by steering me toward Capital One instead of waiting for Mazda's 0% offer. I can't say for certain that was their intention, but that's certainly how the situation came across. By this point, between the delays, the transportation issue, and the financing situation, I was no longer excited about buying the car. My dad and I went to lunch and I ultimately decided to just Lyft home and walk away from the deal. To be fair, they only promised to cover the Uber one way, so I understand that getting home would have been on me. My issue was that something they had promised in writing suddenly became complicated, and then the financing situation felt like another attempt to change the terms of what I came in expecting. Overall, the experience was incredibly frustrating and completely took the excitement out of buying a new car. My advice is to get everything in writing, make sure they actually honor what they promise, and pay very close attention to the financing they offer. If you're getting a great deal on the car, don't assume they're necessarily going to make it easy for you to get the financing you came in expecting. Buyer beware. Ask questions, verify the financing yourself, and don't be afraid to walk away
