I went to Advance Auto Parts today because of the reviews that have been reading the service associate, Truong who helped install a brand new battey in my old BMW 428i. All the remarks about him on Yelp were all true and correct. My visit experience to this store today has been outstanding because Truong was simply amazing in providing the best customer experience I had experienced. He was enthusisatic, polite, and meticulous as he went about providing the information I needed to know about my car. I also observed he was very professional and skillful in installing the new BMW battery which was installed in less than 20 minutes. I didn't have to wait long. Overall, Truong was amazing with his professionalism and customer service. I will not hesitate to recommend anyone who has a battery issue with their cars to visit this store to have it fixed or replaced! read more

Thank you, Charlie T. I appreciate the time you took to help me with the new battery and making sure it was right. While I would have loved to just change the battery myself like I have done countless times with non European cars, I did not have the computer system required to register the new battery with the car. The dealer wanted to charge $400, which isn't too bad, but if I can save some money, why not. I called around a few places, even another advance auto parts (somehow, the one in Torrance on Sepulveda didn't have the equipment to do it), and when I called them not only did they say they could do it but to just come in. I grab the box to give to the customer service rep and he tells me they don't have it they already sold it over the weekend. Then why is the box on the shelf? Checked the website for stock, then went in and got the exact side battery charging posts I came in for, then decided to make the trip more productive, and went to get some filters for my car. The odd thing was they didn't have the usual book available in the filter section to look up your cars filter part number among the different brands on display. I had to go to the counter where the casher looked up the part number for an air filter with some difficulty, but I had no idea what brand she was looking up, and it was out of stock anyway, but offered to order it for me, I declined. I wondered if they had another brand in stock, or what choices I might order I didn't want to extend the conversation because the cashier offered to help me in the middle of a transaction with a guy who had briefly stepped away to get a correct socket size, and was now waiting on me to finish , so he might complete his transaction. I might have ordered the filter if it was a brand I trusted, because the part is not commonly stocked in other local stores either. But it seems more productive to shop with my own computer , where I can see the choices , instead of looking a the back of a terminal while another looks up a mystery brand for me, with me not knowing the choices available . I will probably order both an air and oil filter, with some oil , from home , and pick it up there to support this new business , if they have top of line or OEM stuff. the oil filters I quickly glanced at on display looked to be conventional economical product, I hope they sell high line synthetic oil filters. The store is neat and clean, with a loud friendly greeting offered from behind the counter on the other side of the store as I entered, and it didn't smell like tires. My main purpose in posting here is to alert management about the need for the filter parts number key book if they want to sell filters, because some customers prefer to act like they are on a secret mission , and others won't want to deal with going to the cashier, who might be busy, getting a part number , without even knowing if the desired product is in stock before investing the time , or settling for whatever filter the cashier find for your car, getting the product, and then returning to wait your turn to buy the product. I mentioned this key to the filter inventory was missing to the cashier, and got the impression she regarded the suggestion as obviously not the way we run the store. She has a point, but I was hoping that since the store was new, that having a wall of mystery filters on display was just an oversight. I guess it would prevent shoplifting. read more

I was in need of a new truck battery but could not get to an auto store to pick up a new battery. I spoke with several auto stores and none of them delivered ( I won't mention the names but one store was not feeling in the zone, and the other place wasn't feeling so lucky) I finally called Advance Auto parts in Redondo Beach and spoke with a Janette (Janet). She was very helpful and was excited to let me know they just started a same day delivery service. Went online and made the purchase with ease. I then called Janette back and she was able to confirm my battery purchase but was being delivered from their Torrance location. Got my battery in 20min and in another 20 min, I took my core back to the Redondo Location without a problem. Smooth! Truong and Wesley at Advance Auto (1800 Artesia Blvd in Redondo Beach) were truly amazing! I have a later model BMW. In any other car, it's simple to take out and drop in a new battery, however, being a BMW, nothing is simple. As it turns out, the on-board computer has to be re-programmed to input the installation date and type of battery that was installed. The BMW dealer would do it for $200 labor plus $350 for the battery-too expensive, so I explored the DIY route and found out that the tool alone would cost $250-$1,000 ! Then I noticed that Advance Auto would do the battery installation and the computer reset for free. Truong was amazing! He knew exactly what to do and he even walked me through every step of the procedure. He was so helpful and so professional. He is management material for sure! The store was really clean and organized as well, nicer than any auto parts store I've ever seen! read more
