Drove 2 hours from San Diego to see a BMW 540i. I had been "somewhat" in contact with Kia and Jairo…read morefor a week letting them know I had interest in coming up to see the vehicle via e-mails. Due to protests I ended up holding off a few days but made them fully aware I would come up to see the car. I stopped getting replies to my e-mail after that. The day before I was coming up I couldn't get a hold of anyone, I had requested to get additional photos of the front and rear bumpers' because they were blurry online when you zoom in. I got nothing. The car has been listed since March but they didn't seem to caring much to sell it --- I ended up making the trip ( I had a list of cars to see in the LA/OC area) and stopped here first because I was very interested in the vehicle which was listed a reasonable price, I wasn't even going to haggle the price. I walked around the small lot for about 5-8 minutes, inspected the car from the outside but never got approached. Finally walked in to get some attention but I felt like I was in their way instead. The guy gave me the keys willingly to check out (which is why I didn't give one star), he let me just have my time with it. But seemed like he was getting a new car dropped off, he didn't really care much for me and there legit was no other customers there to help out. Made my way off the lot pretty fast after sitting in the car for two minutes . Bad vibes and very disappointed. The other half of this, their website offers getting value for a trade-in. When I let him know of my interest and letting him know I had a trade in, he quickly told me they do not take trade in's at all because they have no money. Maybe take it down from the website as an option? All in all, the guy seemed bugged about something rather than me being there as a customer. He didn't even try and sell to me, he had no interest of talking to me. For someone who claims to not have money, you would think they'd try harder to make a sale. Ended up buying a 2022 BMW 540i from a dealership in Downey, paid a little more than I wanted but at least they tried and got the Gen 2 B58 so at least the day ended good.

I drove all the way to Torrance based on information I was given BEFORE arriving, and my experience…read morewas extremely disappointing and misleading. Before making the trip, I had multiple conversations regarding the vehicle and financing. I was led to believe that I was approved with $0 down and was even given information about what my monthly payment would be. I specifically communicated with them beforehand because I did not want to waste my time driving this far if the terms weren't going to work for me. When I arrived, however, the situation was completely different. I was told I would need approximately $3,500 down. What made this even more frustrating was finding out that my credit had not even been run when I had previously been given the impression that I had been approved. When I questioned the difference between what I was told before arriving and what I was being told in person, the explanation was essentially that the people I had been speaking with were part of a "call center." That was shocking to me because, as a customer, I had no reason to believe I wasn't speaking with representatives giving me accurate information on behalf of this dealership. Afterward, I started reading other reviews more closely and found another customer describing an eerily similar experience involving the call center giving information over the phone that did not match what they encountered after arriving. Had I seen that review beforehand, I would not have made the trip. I understand that financing terms can change after an actual credit application is submitted and reviewed by a lender. What I do NOT appreciate is being given the impression that I was already approved for certain terms, making a long trip based on those representations, and then finding out after arriving that the situation was completely different. Thankfully, I did not allow the time and effort I spent getting there to pressure me into accepting a deal I wasn't comfortable with. I walked away. My advice to anyone considering purchasing a vehicle here: get everything in writing before making the trip. Ask whether your credit has actually been submitted, whether you have an actual lender approval versus a preliminary quote, exactly how much money will be required at signing, and request an itemized breakdown of all costs and fees. I was prepared to purchase a vehicle. I simply expected the information I received before arriving to match what I was presented with once I got there. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

CarMax beat every other offer, and on one of the cars their quote was substantially higher than AutoNation's. It was an easy decision, especially since the Torrance location is only 1.8 miles from my house. Both vehicles were low mileage and in excellent condition. I uploaded all the requested information online and scheduled two appointments, one at 11:30 and the other at noon. When we arrived, I parked both cars and checked in. My wife had driven one of the vehicles over, and within minutes CarMax had arranged a complimentary Lyft to take her home. At 11:30, I was called to meet with a representative who handled the paperwork for both vehicles at the same time. She explained everything clearly, completed the paperwork efficiently, and handed me two checks for the exact amounts they had quoted online. No games, no last-minute negotiations, and no surprises. I was in and out in about 35 to 45 minutes. Before I left, CarMax even arranged a complimentary Lyft to get me home. The entire selling experience was outstanding. Every employee I interacted with at the Torrance location was friendly, professional, and efficient. Thank you, CarMax, for proving that a car transaction can actually be easy. No haggling, no hassle, just exactly what was promised. Five stars!

This review is about a specific CarMax employee, Michael Greenberg…read more I approached Michael and explained that I was looking for a vehicle. I also let him know that I am Deaf and that we could communicate by texting or using the Notes app on my phone. Unfortunately, he did not seem interested in helping me. We walked to another desk, and I typed my questions on my phone. Instead of looking at me while communicating, he kept looking elsewhere. I showed him my iPhone, and he simply opened a browser and told me there were no other cars available. He did not offer any alternatives, suggestions, or discuss other options that might fit my needs. When I asked additional questions, he continued looking away and avoided eye contact. His behavior made me feel like he did not want to help me. As a Deaf customer, this experience left me wondering whether I was being treated differently because of my disability. I felt unwelcome and disappointed. Because of this experience, I would not choose to work with Michael again. On the other hand, Phillip was outstanding. He was friendly, patient, and communicated very well with me. He made me feel respected and took the time to help answer my questions. I truly appreciate Phillip's excellent customer service and professionalism.
