We are a local business and brought our Transit Van to Kurt down at AAMCO. We wanted a brand new transmission put in and paid the roughly $5,000 for it. Well about a week later the transmission seized up and wouldn't work. AAMCO towed it back to their place and said their tech didn't do something right so they "fixed" it. We gave out 12k miles on the new transmission over a 2 1/2 year period. Now it is doing the same thing it did when they didn't do it right the first time. Kurt informed me we were past the date on the warranty. My question is how that can stay in place when it's doing what it did the first time you "fixed" it after your tech messed it up. Please tho k twice before going here. It's nice to feel like a national company is behind the scenes but they are not. The cooperate office told me today that they do not do quality checks on their franchises as long as they pay their fees. In short I would warn against using a company, especially if they cannot maintain mechanics that are qualified for the work. read more

I thought I needed my transmission fluids changed and was happy they were able to get me in so quickly when other shops in town told me they were more than a month out. Turns out I didn't need it done. They looked at my car and were honest. They didn't charge me. It was great service. read more

We paid $4300 for a rebuilt transmission with new torque converter at the Eugene Oregon Aamco. We then went on a long planned vacation to Zion national Park. The transmission failed immediately when we were coming down the mountains. We had a terrifying ride with no gears trying to get down to safety. Kurt, the owner of Eugene AAMCO, was not sympathetic. He was rude and tried to blame us for the failure. (Too much weight, need to accelerate going downhill, etc.) We slowly limped home with no gears on the downhill and hot brakes. Kurt did not get us in for a repair for over two weeks. And the only reason he did it at that point was because we said we were just going to buy a new transmission and sue for our money back. He was extremely rude the entire time. Don't buy here! read more

When our 1989 Dodge B250 based RoadTrek's transmission finally died on the trip home from witnessing the eclipse in August 2017, we, by chance, more than design limped into to AAMCO. A customer there was waiting for her 1974 Mustang and gave them rave reviews saying they have looked after her car ever since the warranty expired. Giovanni was very pleasant to deal, with and the fact that they are part of a National chain that could offer warranty service back in my home town of San Rafael was the clincher. We left the van with them, and rented a truck to get us and our family, camping equipment, and U-haul trailer back to San Rafael. When the van was finished we arranged for a friend who lived 2 miles from AAMCO in Eugene to take it home until I fly up and and collect it 6 weeks later. I took the scenic route from Yreka to Weaverville along HWY 3 and stopped at Scott Mountain Summit, pulling off the road and driving into the campsite to use the toilets. When I got back in, started the van and put it into drive there was a pop, and then no action from the transmission. Oh Oh! Long story short, a part they had put in - the oil pump - had failed. Now I have helped my brother run an automotive workshop on a remote island in the South Pacific (Tanna in Vanuatu to be exact) in the late 70's early 80's, so I know the frustration of purchasing reputable parts, putting them in, and then have one fail through no fault of our own - we can't see what is in the part, we just have to trust the supplier. Anyway we pay for premium AAA membership for 100 free miles of towing 4 times a year, so that got me to Redding CA on Sunday morning, after sleeping the night at Scott Mountain Campsite. We dropped it at an AAA approved transmission shop since there is no AAMCO shop in Redding. On Monday morning when they opened, they were not willing to work on it in the hope that AAMCO would pay them. After calls to Giovanni and his boss in Eugene, and AAA, we negotiated that AAA would give me another one of my four annual free tows for 100 miles since their agent would not work on it, Eugene AAMCO would cover the cost of the next 100 miles which would have got it to the closest AAMCO shop near Sacrament, and I paid for the last 35 miles or so to get it home to AAMCO in San Rafael where we live. AAMCO in San Rafael, pulled it down, replace the oil pump again on warranty and it is been running beautifully since then. So the advantage of being part of a nation-wide warranty honoring group shone through, and although it was inconvenient, I don't hold them to blame. I strongly believe the did the best they could, and they stepped up to pay a fair share of the $800 towing bill not covered by AAA membership to get the van back home where I could more easily deal with it. read more

Got a quote for a transmission fluid flush, they quoted me a price that was $250 more expensive than ALL the other shops in Eugene and Springfield. Yes I did my homework and checked around, im glad that i did. Save your money, don't give it to these crooks. read more

The store replaced our transmission in our work van. After we picked up the vehicle within 30 days of its return we started having the very same issue with it stalling out in reverse which was the initial problem. We called them 3 times and brought the van by twice. The first time they tightened the bolts and the second time they claimed it was a oil pump in the transmission and wanted to charge us over $400 to repair. I sternly expressed our stand that why should I pay for a repair when this has been the problem since we picked it up. In the end they REFUSED the repair after I told them if it wasnt fixed I would take legal action. The van was picked up and taken to the Springfield store and they told us it was a simple air sensor and NOT the transmission. The Springfield store charged us ZERO dollars and stated they couldnt understand the conclusion of the Eugene store. The owner of the Eugene Store is rude and in our opinion lacks knowledge. I would not recommend using them. read more

My brother and sister in law's Tundra broke down during a visit from Southern California and we called around for some quotes and service availability so they could return home. The Toyota dealer service was three weeks out or longer for the repair. AAMCO stepped up and said they could do it in a week, per Giovanni the manager. He told us that all of their transmissions are built/rebuilt in-house and that they rarely if ever use anyone outside of AAMCO. They assured my brother and sister in law that they would be rebuilding their transmission and swore this to me as well. They took over two weeks to complete the repair. Told us that the transmission had detonated inside the housing and there were metal pieces throughout the system, including the valve body, the pump, torque converter and that there would need to be a complete rebuild, showing my brother a pan full of metal shavings and tranny fluid. When in fact they had not even taken the tranny out of the truck. They ordered a rebuilt transmission from a guy who builds them up in Portland (not AAMCO) they assured my brother and sister in law that they would completely service and warranty the transmission if they purchased the 3yr/36k mile warranty. Which they did as they live in San Diego and thought they would be worry free and have it serviced at a local AAMCO dealer if any problems arose. This could not have been further from the truth. They had a problem as soon as they arrived home and took the truck to the local AAMCO. There they were told that AAMCO did not build the transmission and they only warranty transmissions built in house. With several heated phone calls and arguments with Giovanni in Eugene and the builder in Portland, AAMCO in San Diego reluctantly agreed to service the ailment. Now the transmission leaks from the repair because AAMCO San Diego used a paper gasket with their repair instead of OEM Toyota parts. The shotty repairs were verified by a reputable Toyota Service Center in San Diego. They were advised to return to AAMCO in San Diego and have the correct gasket installed to fix the issue. Now AAMCO San Diego is refusing the warranty again, due to their own shotty work and the lies told by Giovanni from AAMCO Eugene, who took advantage of vulnerable non-mechanical people traveling. This has been an unbelievable, unprofessional, uncaring, predatory, unaccountable experience. Unless you want a similar experience I'd pass on this service facility. read more

I drive a 2008 Chevy Suburban and meant to write a review two months ago! I took my boys and my mom to Palm Springs late March. We were driving home in early April and my transmission started to go out on me. I took it to the Aamco on 7th in Eugene after getting several quotes. Aamco came in $500 cheaper than any other shop. To off the excellent price, the customer service was simply amazing! My car has ran perfectly ever since and I couldn't be happier with my experience! I would recommend Aamco to anyone! read more
