Called around 8 a.m. after discovering that our gas furnace had stopped firing up overnight. A very polite real-life person answered after just a couple of rings (no prompts or automated options required). She said a technician could come same day between 1 and 4. He arrived at 1:15 and diagnosed the problem quickly, a dying circuit board that was not providing consistent power to the igniter. He quoted the cost of replacing - around $450 but was concerned about replacing such an expensive piece on a furnace that had perhaps already exceeded its life expectancy. It was a honest assessment. My husband and I had been expecting both the heating and a/c to go out for the past few years, based on their age (about 25 yrs) and well-worn condution. He knew some tricks to get the furnace running but it failed again that night, consistent with the nature of the problem. Thankfully, the salesman John - 35 yrs on the job, was scheduled to visit that morning. He helped us explore various options and discussed our needs and requirements. He listened, evaulated and eventually sold us the least expensive model with no pressure to buy the high-end units. Such a pleasant experience! Incredibly, installation was the next day. Mike, 15 yrs with the company, and Andy, with around 5 yrs, worked as a team to install a new furnace, a/c and thermostat. They used drop cloths to cover the floor where they would go in and out with equipment and they swept up any debris they created. Even better, a few months later I was having trouble with the air conditioning during some of the 90 degree days in summer (isn't that when all of the AC units die?). Despite the several day wait for an appointment that would have been after the weekend, they came out first thing the next morning to troubleshoot my problem. Apparently the filter clogged up in an extremely short amount of time (long story short, I should have checked that). In addition to coming first thing in the morning, they didn't charge for something that was definitely within my control to fix. We did not have a good experience with this company. We first called them to fix a shower fixture…read morethat was dripping. It's an older fixture, but the plumber said he could fix it, though it needed a new $62 part. He fixed the drip, though he hooked it up with the hot & cold reversed from how it had been previously. No biggie, we could deal. When he left, things seemed to be fine and we paid the bill of $325. Fast forward to the beginning of HOT weather and we discover that the shower dial is set so that we can't get a really cool water in the shower - it's all hot. So we call them back to adjust it so we can have both hot and cold showers. The same guy comes out and "fixes it." He comments that it's an old, outdated faucet, but he indicates it's fixed. Next morning, I go for a nice hot shower and discover that now we have only cool and cold showers. Even when turned so it should be only hot water coming out, the shower is too cold for me to get in. When I called and asked to speak to the manager, "Alex," he told me I was making a big deal out of nothing, that his worker said it was fixed and so, it must have been fixed. He told me we probably needed to get a whole new fixture because this one was so old, and he implied that we weren't willing to do so. I pointed out that the plumber left, saying the shower was fixed, and he never mentioned that we should buy a new fixture. He just left us with a cold shower. If we need a new fixture we would happily pay for one, but instead he just left us with an unusable one. The manager also told me that he believed his worker when he said it was fixed, rather than believing me, and he accused me of saying his worker was "lying." (Not at all. I don't think he was lying, he just didn't fix the faucet right.) Oh, and they couldn't get back to us until 1 week from today! So we have an unusable shower for the next week. I'm done with these guys, and will go with someone more reputable.

They also walked me through getting warranty work that a contractor was trying to get of doing, again, they were spot on. They knew every trick they were trying to pull to get out of doing it. The only time they actually came out to service my furnace, the technician spent an hour troubleshooting and found that the blower fan wasn't installed properly. He fixed the issue and only charged me for the service call. You don't find honest businesses like these guys very often. They could've attempted upcharging me for things I didn't need, but never even tried. Just good honest people that know their business well. I'll continue using them in the future for sure.

Now the new AC unit installed in April has failed. The AC is leaking large amounts of water into the furnace compartment and down into the blower area drenching the motor, bottom of the furnace and the floor. Again, absolutely no cooperation from Quality or any urgency to schedule an appointment. This is Saturday and I was told that someone will contact me sometime on Monday. I have been told that before and when they contact me, it will be a future date. In the meantime, I am now stuck with a furnace and AC unit that is either defective, installed and serviced incorrectly or both. Quality Heating and Cooling license should be revoked.

It's not the same business and my experience with Mastercraft was not good, just from basic customer service perspective. I made an appointment to troubleshoot a non-working AC. They said they couldn't give me a time window until the day of. So I called at 8:30 and the office told me should be afternoon maybe around 1. So I skip lunch figuring I'll grab something on the way over when I get the call. No call, so I end up eating only crackers. 4:30pm rolls around and I call and she says I'm next. Next, it's 6pm and the office is closed and I'm wondering if they're still coming or the tech ran out of time. So I call the after-hours emergency service and the on-call tech did call me back and said the tech is still coming. The tech calls me at 7pm and so I rush to the house to meet him and he gets there at 7:30pm. He diagnoses the problem in 2 minutes (no pressure, 20 year old unit, need new). And oh by the way they probably can't install a new one for another month. They're obviously very successful yet they can't be bothered to invest in a system to keep the customer informed when they're coming. Lucky I didn't take the day off work since I work close enough to rush home but it's just a basic lack of customer respect. Anyway bottom line is that Suburban no longer exists, it's just a name (now Suburban Mechanical) that forwards to another business. On the bright side, I found a small very capable business that was able to come out and schedule me within a week. That is no the way they should treat customers, and for sure not a loyal customer like us.
