Yesterday I called Jon to do a lock and key service on my Jefferson desk. I've had the desk for over 35 years. The original key was not able to unlock the top of the desk. I called him around 3 pm, he arrived around 4 PM. He tried the key several times to no avail. He removed the lock mechanism, found the problem, and adjusted it to fit properly. The best service I hope I never have to use. You know how it goes, that panic that sets in when you realize just how stupid locking yourself out of your own house really is. Add to that the fact that it's Memorial Day, and you're pretty much out of luck. Only I wasn't. A quick mobile Google search turned up AAA Lockout Specialist, and much to my surprise he actually answered the phone on a holiday! No additional charge for the weekend or the holiday, and he was on site in about 20 minutes. The lock was stubborn, I watched him try at least three different methods to overcome it, but eventually it came loose. He even took some time to test the lock after he picked it, ensuring that it still functioned properly. Throughout, he was nice, funny and informative. Wow! is the right word. I called Jon with a tricky question for a new door lever on our new door that doesn't operate from the outside. Our contractor and handyman had no idea what to do. After patiently listening to my issue, Jon offered to research online and troubleshoot for me.
