The lock on my She-Shed would not unlock with the key for some reason and there were no small children available to climb through the only window so I called the neighborhood locksmith folks. The tech arrived within a half hour and ended up having to take the door know apart and somehow forced the lock to open. Turns out there were some cloth bags hanging on the inside doorknob that jammed the lock. Who knew! Anyway, the work was done professionally and pretty quickly and the tech gave me some good advice about the locks I have. I also love that they are just a few blocks away and super responsive. While I hope I don't need them again it is nice to have them nearby. Oh, and he pt the doorknob back together so I did not have to buy a new one! read more

We had two locks installed on a front and back door. They brought out the wrong lock for the back door and had to come out again to install that one. Even though it wasn't our fault they charged us a $35.00 restocking fee. On top of that, their prices are very expensive, but if anything goes wrong you can bet you'll be the one paying for it. read more

Most unprofessional shop ever. From March 5 to March 15, 2015 there were 11 homes burglarized in the Seabright neighborhood. On March 10, 2015 an attempt was made to break in into my garage side door. In doing so the knob was damaged beyond working condition. I headed to AA S&S and purchased a $68 heavy duty Arrow knob set. Needing re-keying, I was told it would be ready in 45 minutes. An hour later I return only to be told it was sitting on the bench and they hadn't even started. OK, the kid jumped on it right away and I walked out in 10 minutes. Hey, don't ever promise a time period and fail to do so. That is so amateurish. The next night, March 11, the thief returned and got entry by shattering the door jam. Back to AA to get a new knob set and an 2-way keyed deadbolt. Uh-huh, another hour plus wait for re-keying, but this time they had it ready BUT with the wrong knob set. Mind you, I cut the label off the box from the earlier knob set so how in frick can you mix up knobs. Not only that, it wasn't a knob but a pull down handle set. WTF. Now I wait for them to rekey the correct set. Idiots. I explained my outward opening kitchen door and was sold a security plate, which of course, when I got home it not only did not fit, it wasn't even close to fitting. My builder built a new door frame but couldn't install the dead bolt [many parts and tricky to install], so back to AA for a refund. At AA returning the security plate, I schedule an appointment for the deadbolt. Did I hear any empathy for the difficult deadbolt install, no-o-o-o. Only berating of the builder for not knowing what do. Wow, talk about unprofessional. I was informed the installer would make the plate fit if not see what was wrong. DUH. Did you not hear what I said the first time? Josh comes out the next day, finishes the job and ensured the door fit was snug against the weather stripping. Good job Josh! He looks over the kitchen door and all I hear is blah-blah-blah, chisel wood or cut the plate to fit. We head back to AA to return the original plate and pay $100 plus for the install - that's right, a hundred plus to install a deadbolt and discuss a security door plate. At the store I get more blah-blah-blah security plate riddle by a couple of other employees, one who fumbles through a catalog like a blind dog. Josh said he would call when he located a suitable plate. A week later Amber calls to say they have the plate in hand. The next day, Sat, March 21 @ 10:30am, I walk into AA. The door is wide open and the ding-dong chime to let employees know somebody just entered the store is disabled. I see a guy sitting at the desk talking on the phone. I stand by the counter for five minutes where he can see me. He never once looks up nor acknowledges my presence. Instead of watching him talk on the phone I turn to look out towards Soquel Ave. I look at my watch and 10 minutes has gone by since I first arrive. I turn around and the dude is GONE! I yell out, "HEY, anyone here!!!" No answer. My jaws really tight, I head to my car parked in the back, and lo and behold what do I see? I see the dude who should be watching the shop taking care of customers near the back fence smoking a cigarette! WTF! Get you act together AA, train your employees on customer service. That includes you Mr Shop Owner. I won't be back and you can be sure I will tell everyone about my poor experiences with you. AA Safe & Security you are stuck in the mud! read more

I have only used them to make keys. Yes everyone makes keys, but how many times have you gotten home and the key doesn't work? Or it sticks? These guys have NEVER not made a perfect key. I have been a landlord in Santa Cruz for about ten years and when I need a duplicate of anything with no doubt that it will work, I go here. I went in to get a new key Fob for my car, since my key still worked but the plastic part was falling apart he just replaced the case using my old parts. He charged me $61.00 to cut the key and transfer the parts . I found that I could get two of these blank cases for 9 dollars with free shipping online. wow what a mark up , apparently they do not want repeat business. read more

I paid these guys 45 dollars to order a key from Sentry, and they originally told me they were going to get it within a weeks time and fit it when it got to AA Safe and Security Co. They lagged and lagged, and I continued to follow up with them and they would tell me it would come in the following week, blah blah. But no, there were no keys and for a month this continued until I decided to take care of this problem myself (something I should have done from the beginning). I have never purchased a safe before and needed one for my office. I went to AA and the employee was helpful and I purchased an American Security, only to find it was too small. I returned the next day to return it and was told all safes were final sale. The manager was very friendly and said he would talk to the President to see what they could do for me. After some conversation, they finally agreed to let me return it and get a larger safe. I appreciate their flexibility and Amber's support! I needed a copy of a receipt and she promptly emailed it to me within 5-10 minutes. The only thing I would recommend is having a sign that says final sale (maybe I missed it somewhere) or for the employees to inform you during checkout. I would definitely recommend AA Safe, plus it's right by The Buttery so you can grab a snack afterwards. read more

When I have to pay $200 for a car key I'm paying for expertise and programming equipment and service. AA Safe and Security failed on all fronts. 2 weeks, 4 trips to the shop, and three hours waiting at the shop later I get... "we can't program this key." No apology. No recommendations for how to get it done. I was just sent on my way. Thank goodness I didn't urgently need the key (I have a spare) and that I wasn't locked out of my house. Very unprofessional..I ordered a condo full of new Medco locks last June and the guy got the order wrong..they had to come back 3X and tried to charge me for labor every time..I had to argue with owner/manager in front of customers to pick up the last 6 pieces and that took 6 months because I did not want to deal with another labor charge..last Thursday my lock broke on one door..I called them and they did squeeze me in late afternoon..Cost me over $100 to fix the lock that were supposed to last forever..I'll use another locksmith next time..there are plenty. read more
