Chris is a busy man and there's a reason for that, he's incredibly knowledgeable, thorough and got my old Honda Element's beaten up ignition back into working order on a hot Sunday afternoon. He showed me exactly how the lock had failed and replaced all of the wafers instead of just the worn out first ones saving another service call. While working on my issues, he fielded calls and clearly knows and cares about his clients. It was a pleasure to work with him and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing his services! read more

Called and he said send me a pic of key, sent him pics of key zero response. Next morning I called no answe, he texted me said I'll call you back. No call back all day yesterday! Great business practice as I wasted my time and waited for this guy since Thur afternoon it's now sat read more

Called Craig for an eviction lock out, and was so impressed with his professionalism and polite nature I called him back when I was locked out of my RAV 4 that was parked on the highway. He was very honest and relayed his time frame. I was impressed he was able to fit me in last minute and taught me how to get in the vehicle in the future, and made 4 new keys! THANK YOU CRAIG! GOD BLESS YOU! read more

Great response time, clearly provided details on services and costs. Communicated day of to confirm arrival and also communicated when he was on his way. Chris Craig was personable and kind, kind to all the pets too. He is very thorough and pointed out another door that I completely forgot about! He was able to change/update all the locks in a timely fashion and put back all our furniture that was blocking one of the door! Great customer service, I would definitely use him again! read more

I randomly came across Craig while he was at my work for a work vehicle. He was great in every way. He was friendly, quick, efficient, and had great pricing. I asked him to look at making a key and taking part of it out of the ignition that was broken off in there. I highly recommend this guy, he will be the first person I call if I need this service. read more

My friends and I lost our Airbnb key at the beach and were locked out of our stay. With the approval of our host, I contacted a few local locksmiths. I kept getting turned down until I reached Craig. He was fast with responding and gave us real time updates of when he could arrive to us. Craig was able finish the job he was working on when we called, get over to Boulder Creek (30 min drive) from where he was located and service us in all in about an hour. We were quoted 12 hr wait by another locksmith. I definitely recommend him for anyone! The Airbnb host decided to switch her lock to a keypad and asked for Craig's information to go through with him in any future needs. We are beyond satisfied with our experience with Craig. read more

Wow! Chris Craig was phenomenal!! We were locked out of our RV we were living in due to the locking mechanism breaking. I hopped on Yelp, found A-Locksmith-Craig, and called him up. He answered right away and was able to come out within 30 minutes. He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and resourceful given our unique lock out situation. I will only be using him going forward and will recommend him to anyone and everyone who is in need of a locksmith. Thanks again Chris!! We're incredibly grateful for your help in a stressful situation for our family. read more

I didn't end up actually needed his services. I called for a lockout assistance quote for my sister. He quoted a great price, cheaper than the other 2 places that answered. I said I had to check with my sister, he had called me back to check if I still needed help. Super friendly and responsive! read more

Chris Craig is a find! Quick, responsive, efficient, cheerful, careful, and reasonable. He re-keyed eight locks for me in a new house in short time, provided extra keys, good advice, and cheerful war stories about his experience as a fire, fighter, security officer, and police officer . highly recommended for many reasons read more

Craig is the locksmith bomb! Very responsive, super knowledgeable about everything locks. And very reasonable especially compared to a dealership if you lost your chip key. He's also an ex cop with a very interesting background. Highly recommend. No need to call anybody else Craig came around 7 o'clock at night and do you have a 1985 El Camino set of keys for me. Then I lost my chip key somewhere in Home Depot in Soquel And meet me at the parking lot and totally set me up and saved my ass with a new key And even threw in a little chip for me to experiment with my own spare keys. And then I just had him just do an old 1995 Dodge van. So as you can see, I am a fan of A locksmith Craig! read more

I highly recommend A-Locksmith-Craig! My Ford van suddenly & intermittently refused to believe that all its doors were closed, preventing me from locking it. The locksmith was able to meet me in town the day I called & was able to figure out which door was causing the problem, but unfortunately it was a sensor issue, not the lock. Since he was there, I asked if he could make another key for me, since I bought the van used & only got 1 key. It turned out to be complicated due to the fact that it was originally a fleet vehicle. He spent time researching the issue, got the 2nd key made, & was more than fair about his fee, given the amount of time required. Again, if you need a mobile locksmith, call A-Locksmith-Craig! read more

Fast, courteous and friendly service. I have used him twice and happy with his prompt service, attention to detail and through work. I highly recommend him! read more

Craig literally saved us. When a visit came to visit us for the holidays we were mortified when she accidentally locked herself out. Craig made sure to get here asap and didn't charge and arm and a leg. Which was really nice to find out since it's holidays and all. read more

Since I'm a DIY kind of person, I thought youtube could help me get my truck door open. The next morning when I tried, it didn't take long to realize I hadn't learned enough to be successful. I called Chris Craig and was a little disappointed to get the answering service who said it would be a few hours. A few minutes later, Chris called back, asked a few questions and said he would be there in half an hour! After the lock was picked I found out that he had been on a job into the wee hours the night before. With only a few hours of sleep, Chris seemed to apologize for not being able to respond sooner. I couldn't be happier with his service. read more

Craig, you gotta invest in a calendar or schedule keeper of some kind! I had him open my locked Prius C & create a new fob. It was hard to get this job off the ground with the amount of Priuses in Santa Cruz (I'm sure that's hard to keep track of) but I eventually got GREAT help from Craig. Seeing him work I was totally reassured. A talent at what he does, he got so many calls during our job where people all around the county needed his advice. Definitely a master of his craft. The value was fine and he even pointed me towards getting cash back from AAA. Overall a great guy and if I ever need anything, I'll ask him again. Thanks Craig! read more

Craig is incredible. When he learned that the key to our home might have been stolen, he rearranged his schedule so he could get our locks re-keyed immediately. Thank you Craig! read more

I dropped my keys somehow when I carried my bags into a hotel in Scott's Valley. My truck was locked and alarmed. Aahhhh!! Chris was able to open my truck, make and program 2 keys and program a new FOB in an hour. I highly recommend him!! read more

This man is so utterly kind. He talks kindly. His voice is not full of problems. You know what I mean. We're all afraid to even call a business anymore in California they're just such jerks on phone's. But not him . I'm so thankful that his personality and principles are so good . He has a heart. This person cares to help you. And he is not a price gouger. Couldn't be a better choice to refer with the best rating and the best feelings. read more

This guy right here made a stressful situation easy and hassle free! Kind and knowledgeable, I Definitely recommend his services!

We had Craig re-key 5 locks at our newly-acquired house in Capitola. He arrived on time, and efficiently removed the lock cylinders, changed the pins, cut the new keys, and re-installed the cylinders. During the time he was here, I asked him various questions about securing the property with methods to deter burglars. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. In all, a very satisfying experience! read more

Honest and warm man. Honest and good work. What more could you ask for? I don't normally post on Yelp. But I urgently needed car keys and had a lot of trouble figuring out what to do. After calling my dealership and a number of Locksmiths in the area, I was more confused. I felt like everyone was running a scam, trying to fear me into to paying 4-7x the price just for key fobs that I could find online at a reasonable price, find any reason for a large upcharge, etc. Then Chris Craig came into the picture. I get the sense that he's motivated by doing the right thing. That's so refreshing in a stressful situation that involves calling a locksmith. Please don't support the big corporate dealership types that are trying to scam us - support local real humans who do good work like Chris does. It makes the world a better place for all of us to have people like him in it. read more

My family and I were locked out of our home and couldn't get in. And most all other locksmith we're gonna charge upwards of $300 or couldn't reach us that day. When we found Craig he was affordable and got us in the house that same night. And was able to cut a key. Absolutely no damage to from door and overall a great experience. We have a two year old and I'm going through extensive medical treatments so we didn't have the $300 at all. We were very grateful and just blessed to be able to get into our home, and had a great/insightful conversation. read more

Chris has serviced our home (new locks on doors) and more recently, rescued me when I lost my car keys. I was grateful for his prompt service as I was stuck in a parking lot with no spare key. There I was, stuck between a rock and a very hard place. Tomorrow was supposed to be skydiving -- crossing off a bucket list item after at least 4 years. I'd even made a camping trip of it! One last hurrah before my new job, after a fairly traumatic exit from my previous job. But there I was, stranded in a beach parking lot. Skydiving was on the rocks, and it was entirely possible I'd spend the night in a dirtbag motel, separated from my clothes and campsite, while my car sat in the nearest dealership parking lot, alarm blaring, waiting up to 5 days for any help getting a key that worked. Or worse, I'd be with my car, in the parking lot, for up to 5 days -- which I'm sure wouldn't have actually happened, since after a few hours, I'd probably have been arrested for trespassing. I have a new job I'm supposed to start on Monday -- it's currently Thursday afternoon. Me and my car are 30 minutes from my campsite, which is 90 minutes from my home. I don't really have very many options here. You're probably wondering how I got into this mess. Well, I decided to go for the gold medal on the Idiot of the Day award, and neglected to take my keys out of my bathing suit before throwing myself into the ocean... I know, you don't have to say anything. Then, after this, I did the next stupid thing by popping the keys open (hoping I could dry the elements out -- I would later find out this caused pretty much all of my problems afterwards, by losing the chips to the keys, making them unrecognizable to my car). Well, when I then went to start my car.... It wouldn't start... I had electrical, but my car wouldn't start! Well, after calling for a tow (which showed up late -- only they never actually showed up, they just said they did), which would have taken me to the nearest Model T dealership, since I was told they could take care of it the next day (not ideal, but that's life)... Until they then said it would take 5 days... Well, I then called another dealership, and was given the contact information for Chris Craig. I gave him the whole rundown of my situation. He said he had another job but would be to me afterwards. I was fully prepared to wait until 8 or 9 for him to even show up. Well, he showed up at about... Hell, I can't remember, but I remember being shocked he was there so soon! (By the way, between calling for a tow and Chris' arrival, my car at one point began blaring the alarm (sometimes for no reason at all, but typically tied to if I had opened the door) -- try being the guy at the beach parking lot who's been there for hours with the blaring car alarm that he cannot turn off!) I cannot say enough about Chris. You can tell that he isn't a machine when it comes to this; he's a thinking, feeling human being. He bounced another job that wasn't nearly as dire as mine (although I'm sure it probably would have been easier, and hopefully not the cause of anywhere near my level of stupidity). He's enough of a gentleman to not say (aloud, anyways) that you made a mistake and are stupid (you're probably saying that enough for yourself anyways), and definitely has a story to top yours anyways. He shows up promptly, gives you the full story about what's happening, goes over options, and then gets the impossible done -- he was very honest about his uncertainty if he'd even be able to undo the big stupid that I did, and I'm so grateful he was! Chris has been doing this for 24 years -- he could totally be charging more than what he is for what he does and his capabilities. Chris will get the job done, leaving you with a smile on your face, and with fantastic conversation to boot. If you need a locksmith, don't even think about calling anybody else. Let me just review for you what an absolute wizard this guy is: He showed up many miles from his home base, in his truck (packed to the gills with his whole shop), and proceeded to cut a key to fit my car, put a chip in the key, and got it to play nice with my car (which, for the past few hours, would not recognize my keys, and decided to throw an intermittent temper tantrum -- wait, maybe that last part was me). (And yes -- I DID get to go skydiving the next day! Thank you Chris!) read more

I needed a key made for a cabinet lock: Chris made a fabulous impression! Very friendly, explained what he did in fine and appropriate detail. Today I found myself in a situation which I thought I could handle on my own since I'm a lock enthusiast and a member of the locksport community (It's a thing. Look it up), I was sure there would never be a time when I would need the skills and knowledge of a lock "smith", I've been picking and gutting lock cylinders of all kinds for 30 years. Instead of a Rubics cube, my puzzle was a dimple lock. But low and behold I lost the key to my beloved Toyota. My chipped key. I have no trouble with the lock part but I couldn't seem to get the transponder for my 2012 Toyota pickup coded and able to start my truck. So I ate crow and called Craig. He was very professional and seemed down to earth and cool, and told me after her finished his job over the hill, he'd hook me up. So I waited, and he showed up and jumped out of his truck looking all "off duty cop-ee". I had him pegged right away. Turns out he was a cop and a fireman. He went to work on my truck and in less than 5 minutes found the thing that had been troubling me and keeping me from getting my truck started. It isn't a 2012...it's an 08 and I had the wrong type of transponder key. I, being the "lock guy" felt foolish embarrassed and humbled. His knowledge is vast, and he's very clearly a trustworthy security professional. With his law enforcement background, and fire fighting credentials, I felt he was over qualified to get my truck started. Either way he had my truck going in 2 minutes. Literally 2 minutes after he realized I had the wrong year. He went so far as to warranty the key I had purchased from ANOTHER lock place in town that was the wrong year and professionally cut and code that for me as well. And he did this LATE at night. Then he showed me some amazing things about locks that I had no idea existed. Like a lock with a curved keyway and flexible chain key from HYT (Yun-Tung Hsu) that I was so enamored with that I ran home and researched it to find the patent. Google "US5131247.pdf" if anyone is curious. But this proved to me no matter what I think of myself, I'm an amateur. So if you know someone like me who likes to get into locks, and you want to call them next time you're locked out. Take it from me, who's very much like that person you know, and call Craig instead. He's an honorable, friendly, true security professional. And he knows more than your friend. read more

I don't leave a lot of reviews - only when they're really good, or really bad, and Craig was one of the former. I texted at 7pm, he texted back immediately saying he was finishing up a job, and he arrived at 7:45pm. My job was kind of embarrassing - I had a key that I couldn't get out of a lock. Craig showed up, removed it, serviced the lock and put it all back together in 15 mins. And, he was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Should I ever need a locksmith again, I won't be calling anyone but Craig - thanks buddy and stay safe. read more

As the rest of the review say Chris is fabulous. He was able to create a trunk key onsite for my 1996 Lexus. He gave me a quote and stayed at that price which was extremely nice since the entire job took about 2-2.5 hrs. He is fair in his pricing and very reliable. If I ever need a locksmith again he is who I will call! read more
