Buying a home in the Bay Area that fits your needs within your budget is a daunting challenge, then finding a reliable and honest general contractor to complete a remodel is another ordeal. I heard horror stories about GCs not showing up or being super late in completing their work. I faced a very tight timeline between closing escrow in October and moving in before the end of December. I found Mohsen (owner of AAA Construction) through a referral's referral's referral (yes, you read that correctly - a referral three times removed). I didn't know what to expect, but I figured getting three bids for my two bathroom and kitchen remodel was the best thing to do. Not only did Mohsen's bid come in slightly under the other two quotes - he was the only *licensed* general contractor to respond to my request for proposal. Most importantly, he was the only one to actually read my "Scope of Work" document and ask intelligent questions about clarifying what I meant - which means, he was paying attention to what I was asking.
After selecting Mohsen as my preferred contractor to complete the job, we went back and forth about clarifying what I expected from the project. He wanted to be clear about my expectations as he didn't want to promise anything he couldn't deliver. I appreciated this, because I didn't want to be disappointed at the end. Mohsen and his team went above and beyond my expectations! He not only finished the project when he promised, but he fixed every single minute detail I asked him about and did not once complain that I was being nit-picky. He understood my attention to detail and held himself to a higher standard, priding himself in performing clean work. When there were situations when things didn't go as planned (this ALWAYS happens during a construction project), Mohsen was great about texting questions and erring on the side of asking me instead of assuming what was "right." I really appreciated this precaution because some things cannot be undone.
Not only was Mohsen a pleasure to work with, due to his quiet, hard-working respectful nature, he really paid attention to the details and did my new house right! Our two bathrooms and kitchen have already received many compliments and even my own realtor was shocked that my remodeling project was completed as quickly as it had! It took exactly four weeks to perform an extensive full two bathroom (which included heavy, detailed tiling work with 1/16" grout lines and transitions between 3D wavy and solid tile, customized floating vanity, Toto washlet, barn door, tight spaces) and a kitchen remodel including customized sink installation, quartz countertops, flooring, and a new bay window. I also had a lot of other random tasks come up during the project, such as installing a large dual vanity mirror, replacing light switches/outlets, painting a room, etc. Mohsen completed a lot of them as part of the project and only charged me for some of the additional work. This was wonderful customer service, I mean talk about really going that extra mile to make sure I was happy! When I did add change orders, he was clear about how much he was going to charge ahead of time so there were no surprises when the final bill was due.
Most importantly, Mohsen had another larger project going on and even started a third job towards the end of my project (all contractors in the Bay Area do this, there's just that much work to be done) - he never once made me feel like I was neglected or forgotten. He answered ALL my questions (trust me, I had way too many) and made sure to check in at regular intervals to assess progress and was quick to respond to any issues I raised.
AAA Construction is a top-notch company and its owner, Mohsen, is a hardworking, honest, reliable and detail-oriented person. He always showed up when he said he would (from the very first bid proposal meeting down to the final, small punch list items that needed to be completed towards the end). His team completed our project on time, saving us from paying dual rent/mortgage any longer than necessary!!! I appreciated his work so much that I volunteered to serve as a sample client project site if there are any potential customers wanting to see the quality of his work. To Mohsen, "Old" Mohsen and Saba (the core team) - we are extremely grateful for your hard work and helping make our first house, our real home!
Avoid the trouble, hassle and cost of firing a bad GC or being disappointed with low quality, haphazard, shoddy workmanship by choosing AAA Construction for all your construction needs! And remember, you get what you pay for and skimping on remodeling will cost you more at the end. Pick the right company from the very beginning - you'll thank me that you did :) Disclaimer: I am not related to Mohsen and paid full market-rate for my home remodel. I am not receiving any discount or kickbacks to write this review. I really am grateful for their excellent work and wanted everyone to know! read more
