The man (presumably the owner?) who helped us was professional and helpful and had us out of there within 30 minutes. We had first visited two other places in town that advertised being open but for some reason one was closed and the other appeared to have gone out of business. We weren't going to come here after reading the negative reviews but one thing I've learned is that everyone has unique expectations, personalities, tastes, etc. (and in this specific case, each vehicle is different and may not pass which wouldn't be the establishment's fault) and solely relying on Yelp reviews can be a disadvantage. I have been taking my cars to AA Smog for years. They are usually able to get me in same day, and have told me when there was a coupon available. They saved my butt today. I told them I just put a battery in the car, after not driving it for six months. They told me I should not bring it in, until I checked to make sure all of the codes had reset. I have an OBDII scan tool, and sure 'nuf there were 5 codes that would have nailed me, and failed me! Hopefully, I can drive off the remaining codes tonight! read more

My boyfriend took my car to get smoked here, the guy told us that my radiator wasn't smog legal (a radiator has nothing to do with emissions). The guy was judging my car because it was slightly lowered. Have come here plenty of times and Bob is great, but the other guy (not sure of his name) is very judgmental. Don't bother, 50/50 chance of getting someone who knows what they are doing. I first took my truck here about a year ago and Bob ran the smog but failed me for emissions, an aftermarket intake, and timing. From there I took my vehicle to the smog referee where everything was approved but emissions failed. Been a while since I've been able to work on my truck due to disability, but I finally adjusted the mixture screws a tad bit and was ready to get my truck rolling. Figuring I can just skip the wait time for the referee I figured I can just take my truck back to AA. Made my appointment and took the vehicle in, where Mike performed a parking lot check before pulling the truck into the shop, not 10 minutes later he comes back saying he is confused about the vehicle weight and began rambling about catalytic converters saying something about my vehicle being or not being a c30/1 ton when its a c20/ 3/4 ton. I told him he must be the best smog guy in Sonoma County(very sarcastically) since his coworker and the smog referee didn't have this issue. At this point I am upset because he opened the smog ticket and started the process of smogging it before deciding that he didn't know what he was doing. He explained to me he didn't even know what to do at this point after opening the ticket. So in turn, I don't even know if I have to contact the DMV and get anything sorted out because of this. Wasted my time, my day off, still very unsatisfied with what happened. Won't bother bringing mine or my family's vehicles here ever again, and I will be following up with them next week to at least let me know if there is anything I need to do regarding my smog certificate due to their fuck up. Because if they are going to fuck you they should atleast give you the information you need to know when they make a mistake. read more

He even gave me a discount on the service. He submitted my info to DMV, no fuss no muss. No clue what the other negative reviewers reviewers had a problem with. I did read them... These people are not trust worthy in my opinion. We have been going to them for a few years based on a recommendation from a family member. The car failed the smog test which was really shocking to me because we just had it smogged six months ago when we bought the car and it had passed. I asked the gentleman if it was common for a car to go down hill so fast. He then told me that he knew the car would not pass because the check engine light was on. So he took complete advantage of me knowing the car was not going to pass and took my money anyway. The other smog shop in Windsor should thank these guys for giving away business. I have many friends and family in Windsor that will not be going to this establishment. read more

If you know your car will pass smog, and you can't wait to get your smog completed at Drive Rite, then this is the place for you. But if your not sure it will pass, then wait and go somewhere else. AA Smog is a test only and can not do any repairs. The owner even talked smack about Drive Rite even after they are whom referred me to AA Smog. My car did pass all the required state requirements. He noticed a hose that had a small crack in it and failed me. I asked him to show me so I could repair it. His reply, No! You have to take it to your mechanic and get it fixed, then bring it back and I will try it again, and yes it will cost you another 65.00. I drove away unhappy. I took it to my mechanic and he found the problem within 2 seconds. Cut the hose and reattached it. Took it to a different smog place. Of course it passed again. They asked me why I was smogging the car again. I told them it failed earlier that day. Their reply was no it didn't. I gave them AA Smogs paper work. They said that's BS what a way to get more $$ out of a person. Never again will I go to AA Smog. read more

I wish I would have reviewed this business when I came here 3 years ago. This was my first time having to get a smog check on a car, so I was a little confused to begin with. They inspected the car and failed it, then charged me $70. Oh, and here's the kicker. They wouldn't tell me WHY my car didn't pass. The guy claimed he "didn't know why it won't pass". Well considering the fact that I now own a diagnostic tool that will tell me what problems my car has, I don't see how a smog testing facility doesn't have that kind of capability. So basically I spent $70 to find out that I needed to get my car tested to find out why it won't pass. That's nice. read more

I called to find out if he was too busy to see me right away, and the owner was really helpful and friendly on the phone. He then called back to let me know he has a coupon on Valpak. How awesome is that?! I printed my coupon and he checked out my car very quickly. Like 20 minutes, tops. I literally called the air resource board of California over a legality dispute with this asshat and they told me everything I had on my car was legal and they told him over the phone to pass my car, guys a dip. Has no knowlage, talks down to you as if he knows everything ever known. I've dealt with him on multiple occasions, seperate cars, multiple visits for each. I recently bought a new car and it turned out the dealership forgot to smog it and asked me to take care of it . I needed it done ASAP so I could finally get everything finalized. I called around to a bunch of places and either was told I had to wait till next week or come in on weekend. I also found it funny how the prices varied so much. I finally called these guys and they were awesome! They got me in that day and gave me a discount. Being a younger female sometimes its uncomfortable going to shops and some people try to take advantage thinking you know nothing about vehicles. I used to work at an auto repair shop and dealt with several local smog shops. The only one we NEVER had issues with was AA Smog Test Only in Windsor. Never felt as if they were taking advantage of our customers, as we did with another shop on off Airport Blvd. We always received great feedback about customer experience. And now I've used them a total of 4 times myself and had great experiences every time - always started appointment on time and each took 15 minutes or less. Great customer service, friendly. While I'm sure some vehicles don't pass, I don't know of a failed smog from this shop. Highly recommend this business - the only smog shop I'll use going forward! Be aware that they do not take checks, so bring cash or a credit card. read more

I have used AA Smog Test Only for years now. Got fooled by A+ Smog when I last needed a smog check. Their ad said they had "just" moved to a new location - and being the name is very similar, I made the mistake of going to A+. DO NOT make the same mistake! AA Smog Test has always been reasonably priced, courteous and fast. I had a horrible experience at A+ (See my review of THEM!) - and had to have my car rechecked. I figured out what had happened with the confusion and brought it to AA Smog for the re-test and it passed with no issues. I have always had very positive experiences with Mike at AA Smog Test! read more

I was selling a two year old Camry and had to get it smogged to sell. A check engine light came on during the test. I was charged the money for smog and then told I could get it looked at and come back to smog it again. The CEL turned off on the way to a friend's shop. Never saw it again. I never went back because I felt like I got played. I work on cars enough to know that a CEL can easy be triggered by messing with vaccum lines or unplugging the ECU. Didn't like it and wouldn't recommend this shop. read more

Not trustworthy. No check engine lights on or issues. The car failed the smog and we were charged $106. There is no free retesting. If you fail the smog you pay. I recommend not getting a smog in Windsor. Go to Santa Rosa where there's competition. In Windsor you will be ripped off. read more

Very bad experience!!! These guys are not honest, I took my Honda to get smogged and it did not pass, they said the timing ignition was not correct. I took it to my mechanic who I've used for years, he checked it and said this car should have passed. I then took it to the smog station next door and the car passed with flying colors. I called AA Smog and explained what happened, the guy called me a lair even though I had all the paperwork they refused to refund my money. Do Not take your car to them.
