Like other reviewers, I noticed a very large amount of political stickers on display. I had a coupon and was unaware of this before I set foot on site. I believed, however, that the business would continue to treat me professionally with respect. I am saddened and baffled by some of the owner's comments to previous reviews. My car drives very well; the only outstanding issue, we believe, is that the hybrid battery is not fully charged. I consulted with my mechanic and we are going to go for a second opinion. The service was fast and the price was OK I guess. I'll see what another smog tech thinks. read more

A+ Smog - The two greeters, pictured here, are adorable. I gave them each a small bite of my Impossible Whopper. :) - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Santa Rosa, California

My daughter and I moved near this facility about 2 years ago from out of state. We took our cars there for the smog tests. It was very expensive. We thought this was a California fee. My daughter moved into Santa Rosa, and when I visited, I drove by another smog station displaying their price. Oh my goodness was I surprised. It was a fraction of the cost. I am on a fixed income. I went in and spoke with the nice mechanic, who said that they do not work on my car, they only test it. I left my car and my daughter collected me. They called me and said my car passed. No funny business or over-charging. We will both save money here. I am a little mad that I paid so much the first time, for nothing extra. That' just my story and hope it might save someone else some hard earned dollars. God Bless. read more

I've gone here before and they've done a good job. But when I showed up today there was a super weird sign on the door that told Biden voters to basically F off and die, and then one of the loose dogs that hang out at the garage ran out into the road and almost got hit chasing a motorcycle. The whole vibe was pretty surreal (and sketchy), so I left and went down the street to another place. ** Oct 2022 Update: Please see the owner's response to my original review. It speaks for itself as far as the level of professionalism and customer service practiced here. Regarding the dogs: the owner may say they're trained to stay out of the road, but one of them almost got hit chasing a motorcycle ten feet in front of me. I'm putting this in the review not because I'm trying to gaslight anyone (wtf?), or because I'm a freedom-hating liberal, but because I love dogs and don't want anyone to run one of these guys over! Please drive slow! read more

The phone is disconnected, but the website is still active. The other smog rep I used told me the owner has retired, and the business is closed. Yelp and other reference sites should consider this before people try to visit it. read more

I was looking for a smog check and read the "About the Business" here on Yelp. "If you're a Biden/Newsom supporter, please go elsewhere. You're neither wanted nor needed at this establishment. " Wow! You really want to make your smog business about politics? I am a Biden/Newsom supporter, so I guess I can't go there! Very weird..... read more

Sadly had to walk away from A+ Smog today leaving my "$20 off" coupon on the counter ....... this after doing business with them for 9 years. They had a notice on the door that they did not want my business. I can ignore the Trump sign in the window, but not this ....... Fine way to run a business .......... ! Adding this update: After receiving your prompt reply, I am even more puzzled by your attitude. Your service has been fine in the past; I did not realize that I needed to praise you on Yelp to stay in your good graces. I did not discriminate against you on the basis of your political beliefs ..... you placed that notice on your door, and I took my business elsewhere as instructed. And this: You said "Like I said above, tell your friends." That's what this Yelp review is all about. Once again, following your instructions ...... and letting you speak for yourself. read more

I called and inquired about getting my truck smog checked. They were very kind and polite on the phone, friendly too. Was able to get an appointment the same day. They said how long it would take - and they were spot on. Very pleasant experience. Clean, organized, and extremely helpful. Highly recommend. read more

Didn't realize I was getting a smog from the town psychopath. Overcharged me on top of intimidating me into buying oil that my car didn't need for a ridiculous price. I'd rather be a dirty commie cunt (his words) than a hateful loser. 0/10 would not recommend read more

They did the work, thats the good news. They are very expensive, and they have a real attitude problem. After seeing that Biden and Newsom aren't their favorites, I should have turned around and left. I normally don't let politics dictate where I go, BUT I'M NOT COMING BACK HERE! read more

Friendly, easy-going and honest people here. Easy to find/access location. It was easy to drop in for a smog or come in for an appointment. Came in for two vehicles this week (first a drop in, second day with an appointment) and they accommodated us immediately and were done within a half hour. I felt the waiting room was big enough to be appropriately "socially distant." There was a plastic cover (think sneeze guard) in place at the counter with enough room to slide the smog paperwork through, which was appropriate for covid-era precautions. Comparable smog prices here as well. I will definitely be coming back in the future. read more

I wrote an aggressive review of this place a couple hours ago. The owner called me back and I agree with him when he said that I am more pissed off at the process than with the business here. Please disregard my previous post. Communication goes a long way. I actually brought the vehicle back to this location to have the work done. read more

$117 for a smog check is outrageous. I made the mistake of signing the contract before checking the price. My bad. When I said I'd prefer to take my business elsewhere the employee simply brushed past me, got in my car and drove it into the shop despite me telling him not to. read more

The smog test was completed and done as expected. However, multiple signs indicated that if you did not have the same political beliefs that you should take your business elsewhere. There were also signs that implied if you were not white that you were not welcome. I would have taken my business away had I not been on a timeline. read more

Recently took my son's truck to this shop for his smog. They treated him very well and took the time to make his experience great. They were extremely knowledgeable and professional. We will only be taking our vehicles here going forward. read more

The service was excellent! The mechanic was very helpful and kind. I took my RV in for a smog check and it was so simple. Thank you A+ Smog. read more

I'm a new driver and took my car for my first smog. These guys made the experience great and they were super knowledgeable and friendly! I will only be going here from now on! read more

Did a great job. Wish there was more to it but these reviews do not go through if you don't type a bunch. When you have to do this Smog BS, go here and give these guys your business! Stand by their beliefs, at at a financial cost, and that's admirable! read more

Tyler and Conrad got my truck in on short notice and did a very thorough job. They are pleasant and could not have been more helpful. A+ will continue to be my go-to for smog testing. read more

I made an appointment over the phone for an $86 Smog check. Then I found a deal elsewhere for $40. When I called to cancel the appointment 3 hours in advance, the man over the phone was rude. Way over-priced smog check and rude customer service. I didn't even end up going and would never plan on it in the future.... After writing my review here is the private message I received from the business: "I was not rude to you. I plainly stated that it wasn't very courteous of you to make an appointment, and then start price shopping. I'm glad you found something that's affordable for you, maybe now you can work on your manners. Considering you took the time to post a 1 star review based solely on me calling you out for uncourteous behavior, I doubt that will happen." Case in point. read more

Quick, honest service. Even a treat for my pup, thank you!! (Side note: yes it was a pricey smog check. I prefer professionalism and honesty over a quick fix any day.) read more

New location and a vast improvement from the previous. They were able to smog test my car without an appt on the day I went and it was a very fast half hour. The $20 Yelp check-in offer makes me wonder why they don't just lower their prices, but given the convenience and friendly service, I'm not complaining. There is a nice waiting room w/ a vending machine. There are books and magazines to select while you wait, and a clear view out to Aero Drive. The bathroom was very clean and tidy. There is also a water dispenser at the front counter, if you don't want to pay for sodas, etc. I'll likely choose them next year, when I have to have my old car smogged, again. read more

I've used A+ many times with okay results. This last smog, they did not send the certificate to the DMV and would not help remedy the problem nor would they print a duplicate certificate. At the very least they could have offered to re-smog to produce the certificate I could send to the DMV. Now I'm being forced to have the car retested and pay again at another facility (it did pass at A+ BTW). Unfortunately, I will not be using nor recommending them again. Message to A+; this is why people like using local businesses, for good service! To be turned away with a "sorry, I can't help you" really is a reflection on how they value their customers... After the very kind response, you've not only won me back as a customer but as a FIVE STAR shop. Many thanks!! read more

Called on a Friday and the very polite gentleman on the phone was able to get me an appointment for the next day, a last minute Saturday appointment! Arrived Saturday at the same time as a few walk-in customers, and they were able to help us all. Having an appointment got me in and out of there really quickly. Our technician, Tyler, was friendly and helpful. They have some really good coupons on their website and in the Value-Pak mailers if you can schedule an appointment for a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (which I will try and allow myself time to do next time!) I highly recommend A+ Smog, and will be returning the next time I need a smog check done. Note: credit cards have a $3 fee (credit card companies are swindlers) - so bring cash or check if you don't want to feed the cc companies! read more

Unlike many who I have seen review this establishment, I did not receive a discount for doing so. I say this not because I am upset, but because I would like people to know they did not solicit this review. I scheduled my appointment and was informed that I should download and print a coupon and save myself about $20 (my car is older, you may get $40 off!) I would not have known, and would have ended up paying full price had he not let me know to do so while I was on the phone. They took care of me in a polite and timely manner. I would guess from the time I walked through the door to the time I drove away was about 30 minutes. It was a smooth running clean operation and I appreciated the timely test! read more

I have been going to A+ for a number of years now. I do have a lot of professional background with the Automotive Industry, among others, having been a Consultant for many Businesses in my 'Former Life'. I always make an appointment, but in years past when I haven't they were very accommodating when they could be. Conrad and others are always very polite, courteous and genuinely appreciative of their Customers! These folks are honest, straight up...don't try to sell you another service which they could easily do unless you inquire. My information was at the DMV within one hour and made this process run so smoothly. Thanks to all of you! read more

Have used A+ Smog on Aero Drive several years for both our vehicles. Location is clean, service is friendly and prompt. Only complaint is that they have decided NOT TO HONOR their $20 OFF coupons during Covid-19 shelter in place. Total cost for a 2000 vehicle was $95 read more

Easy, quick and helpful in explaining the service and charges. The business offers a coupon and they were happy to honor it. Smog done in 30 minutes. read more

First review I have ever written on Yelp! I loved this place!!! I got a smog here and it was super fast. Lounge area was great! The people here are real and honest! Any other car work I need I am going here!!!! read more

No masks. Charged for a no pass. Wouldn't have been a big deal but, check engine light was on prior to smog. Apparently most places tell you to fix your engine light before attempting a smog. Basically, charged twice. At least they applied the original coupon discount. Didn't wipe down the steering wheel like other business. Had to do that myself. read more

This was the best experience I have ever had with a smog certification station - hands down. He was fast and pleasant. There is a heated inside wait room that is comfy and he offers bottled water. Great location just off the freeway. read more

I anoint you the SMOG Nazi. You are a shyster people take their older cars to you and the get screwed. Then they take it to another tester and they pass no problem. Especially that visual test that you f**** people over on. Telling them use this product and bring it back etc. Its a racket and you know it and I am the first person to call you out on it. Good luck! read more

Had to get my car smogged and didn't have time to get it done on the weekend. This place was close to my office and took appointments. 20 mins later and a visit with some really sweet pups I had my certificate and was ready to register my car! read more

After bringing my car and my Husband's truck to A+ Smog for several years, I was selling my 2003 Saturn to a couple in Santa Rosa. After being told that there was a cheaper place in Santa Rosa which was also closer for the people that bought the car, we made an appointment there instead of A+. Sure enough it was right down the street for them and it was definitely cheaper. I sent them there to get the car smog checked so we could do DMV paperwork. Much to my total surprise they called and said the car didn't pass and they wanted to charge me not only the $40 for the smog but $110 to diagnose the problem. I called A+ in a total panic because the car had just passed smog 6 months earlier and had never failed smog since I bought it 11 years ago. Conrad was about to close but said please bring it in. He re-ran the smog and it passed with flying colors. I will never try the cheaper/more convenient place again. I trust Tyler & Condrad and A+ Smog. Thank you for taking care of this Conrad .. much appreciated. read more

Great service - easy no fuss. Do it here! I did not make an appointment, it seems that it's suggested, but they took me right in. The waiting room was safe and very tidy, with a fish tank = classy! The two gentlemen (yes there were two people doing the smog service = fast service.) read more

Went in to get my smog checked. We didn't pass the smog and they said they would do an inspection and repair of the vehicle. They never found anything and they didn't repair anything but surprisingly the smog passed the second time with some strange explanation that "that just happens sometimes when carbon gets caught yada yada yada" $500 later. The more impressive thing is that they quoted us $500 assuming something was wrong but nothing was wrong and it was still $500. All just labor. After reading some of the reviews I noticed there were quite a few like mine. Seems fishy considering every reply they have is "we just might be out of your price range" and "we've never been in trouble with the better business bureau". We will never be back. I've never had a smog be so ridiculously expensive. Like $500 more expensive since we already paid $100 for the initial check. And... when there is literally nothing wrong apparently. Sounds like they just expected to get $500 out of us regardless. Maybe it's time the better business bureau should get in there and take a look? read more

Conrad was really helpful, and even took me 15 minutes earlier than my appointment time! He got me out of the place in 30 mins. They have a nice little waiting room with a vending machine for snacks. The place is pretty big though and nice location. Thank you guys! read more
