G & G Deck and Fence

G & G's estimator, Ben, was quick in scheduling a visit to quote the project, for which we specified that we wanted heart redwood. It was a two month wait before the crew could begin work, but well worth it. Ben came with the work team at start of project and walked through everything with G & G's lead worker, Rodrigo. Work wrapped up on time and we are so pleased with the result.

Scheduling was easy, and they arrived right on time. Ben came with his crew, introduced everyone, and they got straight to work. They removed the old fence and installed the new one efficiently. The entire 24-foot fence project took just over four hours. We had received another quote from a handyman that was significantly higher and did not include a warranty. G & G Deck & Fence's pricing was very reasonable, and the fact that their work is backed by a warranty gave us added confidence. The quality of the work is excellent--the fence looks clean, sturdy, and very well built. Overall, I'm very happy with the results and would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

This company deserves more than 5 stars! My husband and I bought our home 3 years ago, and the…read morefencing to the house was in bad shape. We live here in Antioch on top of the hill. We get strong winds that can blow a weave or a wig off a person's head, and it is hotter then hot in the summers reaching past 100 degrees, and when it rains, its nice to smell the rain and see it coming down. Now it is July 2026, and the fencing is 26 years and 2 months old. You can't tell me (as I will attach photos, that this fencing didn't need to be done.....because it did. We had gotten a bid from a neighbor who lived down and around the corner from us, as his father owns a fencing company. We had asked him and his gf to provide us a quote a LONG while back and that quote was pratically another TRUCK payment and then some. So we held off. Then one windy day, on 12/14/2024, the wind blew our fence over and the shared property line fence over. The tenant living next door in the little shack named Pablo, came to help us put the fencing back up. He even knew and said it was just a temporary fix until the next wind came. Since then the fence has fallen over 3 more times to 2026. Then on yet another windy day, my tarp flew over the fence into my neighbor's backyard - but this neighbor's home lives in Steven S. Stroud, and so my husband and I walked over to that neighbor's house to see about getting my tarp back from her backyard. We knocked and no one was home. So we left her a note introducing ourselves and when she got come from she messaged us and we went over to go grab it. She had my husband get the tarp because her backyard slants up and she wasn't about to climb the steep hill. So while standing there and Johnny's retrieving the tarp, I had asked her did she use to do her fencing. She too, told me about the neighbor who's dad owns the fencing company, and she also said that when she asked him for a quote, his quote he gave her was INSANE! So with some research, she then found A&J Fencing. This is where I called them and asked for a quote. Scott Knolbloch came and gave me a quote. Because I share property line with two other neighbors, he informed me about the 30-Day Good Neighbor Law. Later that night, I got the quote from Scott regarding the fencing that was much needed which was 26 years old, falling over 4 times, due to rotted and deteriorating wood, with nails, screws and staples protruding through onto my side from the neighbors side where they tried to repair the fencing themselves. The quote was sooooo reasonable, I had to relook at it twice!! Nutshell, we ended up proceeding with the quote provided from Scott with A&J Fencing. We were able to get both neighbors onboard with paying their half of the fencing after provided and sending out Certified 30-Day Good Neighbor Law Letter. We are soooo pleased with the work. Rigo and his crew showed up at 8am on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Knocked on my door and I gave the OK to begin. They immediately started unloading the needed and necessary tools, and man o man.....they made taking down the fence soooo easy!!! Next came the digging and before I knew it -- the posts were being put up.....followed by the redwood wood panels. The fencing was done in 5 hours! (They took a lunch break too!). Overall..... A HUGE SHOUT OUT for coming to my property and providing me an AMAZING AND REASONABLE QUOTE...... A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Rigo and his crew for tearing down and putting up my fencing, my double iron gate and my single gate. Yall ROCK!! A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Vanessa who I wrote my check too. She was soooo professional and sweet! A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Andrea, to hearing me rant about other stuff (she knows ;) ) and helping me with keeping me aboard on all neighbors following though with their halves of payment! Look at my beautiful fence! We love it! Thank you A&J Fencing.

If you don't want the work just reply to any one of my multiple queries with "not interested" But just ignoring every email is unprofessional. If this company offered us free service I'd say no. American Star Construction

This is my second review (the first was 1/27/21) and is for a totally different job…read more Based on my earlier employ of Abedallah of American Star Construction ("Abedallah") in January to fix my awning, I had him build a deck as an extension to my front porch. The deck was made of Trex(-like) material, and railings were of redwood. Before awarding the job I gathered three estimates from: 1. a casual laborer who barely spoke English, not licensed or bonded. Although his estimate was ultimately only 31% of Abedallah's, admittedly, I had less than full trust he would do anything more than lay a basic deck of questionable quality. 2. a licensed and bonded professional construction company. I had full confidence that the man who looked at my property and the task at hand would do a wonderful job. However, his estimate was ultimately a little more 2.5 times the amount Abedallah asked for! 3. Abedallah. Although he is not licensed or bonded, again he exuded confidence in his work, and at a price midway between the other two. Accordingly, it was not a difficult decision to give him the job. As for the job itself, as I mentioned, it was to be a an approximately 5' x 13' Trex(-like) deck (ultimately he used Home Depot's version of Trex, Fiberon ArmorGuard, which I discovered is of the same quality, but more inexpensively acquired). He visited with me at least twice before the job began, taking measurements and providing me samples of the material to assuage my concerns and answer all my questions. He told me he would do the job himself and would take him two days, and we set up a mid-week date, perhaps a week or 10 days later. On the appointed day, he started the job himself, but a co-worker joined him an hour or two later. Both men went to work tirelessly, and knocked on my door several times during the day for requisite bathroom breaks and such, as well as to confer with me about pertinent details. In fact, Abedallah found that my front porch was actually slanted. He explained that he could either build the deck out from the porch straight and perfect (but with maybe a half-inch lip protruding where it connected with my porch), OR, he could build it even with the porch (which would then mean the deck would be canted downward at a slight angle). Of course this meant that items I placed on the deck (i.e., a plate or glass on the railing) would have a good chance of falling off. I opted for the former where the deck is perfectly straight. The lip is very small and of little consequence. I mention this because another contractor might have simply gone on with the job and not sought my input. Abedallah strove to be clear and transparent, providing me with a choice. This is how he works and you have to respect that. As an extra bonus, I was more than surprised that late in the afternoon, he told me that they would actually finish the deck this same day, great news for convenience and efficiency which benefitted us both. They did in fact stay and work on the deck until darkness set in around 8:30pm. My main regret -- although I had provided them water and drinks during the day -- was that I didn't make a frozen pizza or something for them. Why? They never took a single meal break -- neither lunch OR dinner! I felt bad but thought they would've brought their own food or taken a meal break. All in all, that's real dedication and perseverance above and beyond. The deck turned out PERFECT (SEE photos), and is very complimentary to my Spanish Mediterranean home. Now, with my recent retirement, I get to walk out onto my deck and relax in a rocker with a sandwich and beer, newspaper or book, and watch the world go by while getting fresh air and sun as needed. The deck is on the corner of my house so I get a mild 2-way breeze that is tamped down by the alcove of my porch. Also, since it is an Eastern exposure, the sun shines on it in the morning -- perfect for coffee and a Danish -- and is cool the rest of the day as the noon sun folds back Westward behind my house, swathing the deck in wonderful shade. I feel almost as if another WING has been added to my home. I'm totally loving it and will host my very first Memorial Day BBQ on it tomorrow! To sum up, everything Abedallah said he would do, he did. To me, promptness, trust, and confidence in someone providing a quality product is of the utmost importance, and again, Abedallah and American Star Construction came through. He even reiterated his virtual lifetime guarantee of his work, encouraging me to contact him or them should I need anything or have any questions about the deck. What more can one ask for? I'm certain I will find another project for Abedallah again, and will not hesitate to call on him. I wholeheartedly recommend you give him a call likewise. Undoubtedly, you will be pleased by the stupendous value you will receive through the unbeatable combination of price, quality and ultimate peace of mind. Beyond that, enjoyment!
