SO efficient, and great people behind the counter!! Had two other groups in front of me when I went in, was told there would be a 20 minute wait before my turn. We all had livescans to get done. I was in and out of there within 6 minutes! Great service, very fast. The cashier girl was also very gracious and super nice without needing to be. She does her job well too. Overall, very efficient business. Would come back! read more

I should have listened...I read the reviews here about repairs but thought it would be okay. I brought in my old camcorder to be repaired in early January. They charged me $50 to leave it and have it diagnosed. About a week later, they called to give me the total cost for repair and said that the initial $50 would be applied to the total. I agreed. A month later, I called to get the status of the repair. I was told they probably were waiting for a part. I called again a month later and was told that they would ask the repair person and would get back to me regarding the details about what part was ordered. Never heard from them. I would call once a month and get the same answer...they were waiting for a part. When I asked again what part was ordered, they could not tell me and said they would find out and let me know. Never heard back about what part was ordered. Finally, I decided that I would just get my camcorder back. They said they would get it from the repair person and let me know when it was back at the store. Never heard from them. I finally called and was told that it was in the store. From dropping off the camcorder to getting it back unrepaired took all of 6 months. I do not recommend bringing anything here for repair. read more

Great service, very speedy and helpful! Thank you for all of the work you have done for us!

I can't comment on any services other than their passport photos, but our family has been going here for over two decades, and they do a great job. They are fast, knowledgeable of what they are doing, and have pride in making sure that they get it done correctly and satisfactory according to US passport laws. (They also take photos that meet other countries' and agencies' requirements.) We recently went, and my son's collar was twisted, and she took a moment to make sure I had the opportunity to fix it. When my first kid was still under one, they helped us figure out a way to take his photo at home (dozens of photos on a white blanket), and then they were able to select the one that fit strict criteria, crop it and smooth out the background for us before printing. I would say one thing to be aware of is that they are not always open right when the posted hours claim. I would call first before heading over. The waiting area could be updated a bit, but it is fine. read more

Today at 4:40 PM I was helped by Alex and LJ, and they both did an excellent job. When I came in, Alex was assisting another customer and handling everything professionally, while LJ was also working hard. I truly feel like these two were chosen for the business for the right reasons. Alex especially made me feel very comfortable and took the time to explain everything clearly. This is a great place to be everyone here does an amazing job explaining the process and being flexible with customers. I paid $140 today for my flash drive, and they kindly allowed me to pay the rest later when I have more money. That meant a lot to me, and I really appreciate how much they worked with me. Alex and LJ absolutely deserve recognition please give them $10 each for their outstanding service. read more

Great customer service and super professional! Would definitely recommend to anyone needing fingerprinting services for community service.

Great customer service! The staff were so friendly and welcoming. I arrived for a live scan fingerprint with no appointment and they took care of me. I was in a rush because I was on my way to Tahoe, but needed to take care of this. They even offered additional advice on an upcoming ski trip.... I did not need chains BTW, but I am so thankful that they provided the additional info. I would definitely recommend this place to others and return if I needed a live scan fingerprint for a future job. read more

I went here with my partner to pick up a photo he dropped off to have something removed from the background. The photo turned out great. It was high quality and an acceptable turn around. The gentleman who helped him was professional and friendly. They promote digitally saving your photos to not lose your memories of any and everything that's important to you. They transferred over 400 tapes for me, U-matic, VHS, Hi-8, digital 8, audio cassette, micro cassette, HDV -- I'm convinced they can handle any media, any format, anything at all. A lot of the tapes had audio errors, and so they re-transferred all those tapes again, free of charge -- even thought the tapes were faulty. They are the best. Diligent, detailed, and service oriented. I was so impressed that I'm going back to them for a massive family archive project of a lifetime of media. read more

Alex was great! I was in a pinch he stayed open a few extra minutes and although they usually don't print there (which I didn't know), he kindly printed my document for me, so I could get it notarized by him in time. Thank you, Alex! read more

My experience with A1 was not positive, to me they are rip-off artists. I brought in one U-Matic tape for digitization and they quoted me $140. Another google search located a lab in neighboring Albany that did the job for $40. I advocate shopping around! read more

Very friendly, and got the job done. I got my livescan here and it was totally painless.

A1 Photo is not welcoming to children. The staff member (larger white man) was rude and pushy, and said it would not work from the moment we walked in to take a passport photo for our child. He said "from my experience, he's not going to want to stop crying" before trying. He then asked my 17 month old to be sat on a wobbly round stool, making balance very difficult. I asked if I could hold him or stand next to him, and the staff refused. There are ways to do this professionally, such as holding the infant on your lap and putting a white background behind them. Or holding them up on the stool and ducking behind them. The man was rushed us to leave because "I have work to do" and did not take the photo. He prompted my child to start crying. I do not recommend this establishment. In California, children may not be discriminated and refused service fie their age. The Unruh Civil Rights Act requires "full and equal accommodations, advantages, facilities, privileges or services in all business establishments." read more

Walk in livescan at a low price. Convenient and quick. Would recommend their fingerprint service.

If you need to get a live scan done- I would suggest you go else where.... I had a really bad experience here with an individual that felt the need to take other customers before finishing up with the process of doing my live scan . ( side note- they were Caucasian, and I am not but it seemed like the white guy with red head thought it was more important to help them first before he was able to finish up with the process of helping me) This place had one of the poorest customer service that I received with doing my live scan - I have had many done at other places as I volunteer my spare time quite a bit . Hopefully they retrain this individual in the importance of treating their customers (regardless of race) equally and making sure that each customer is helped in a timely manner. read more

I've gotten film rolls turned into scans a couple of times here. Very convenient for me and pricing is decent for the today's market. No complaints, will be back. read more

I just went here on 11/23/22 at 3:40pm to get a Livescan done. There were two employees and they were very helpful. If I ever need any scanning done I will keep this location in mind, what a wonderful little store. I love this place. 5 strong stars. This shop has been extremely kind and wants to help in my recent endeavors of figuring out the ins and outs of digitizing footage from my handycam. Specifically Alex is the one always ready and willing to answer any question I have. I'm extremely grateful from finding this place and I will continue to come back for all my photo/video needs! read more

The couple in front of me needed passport photos for a foreign passport and when they said which country the guy immediately said "oh then you'll need photos 35mm by 45." Target doesn't do passport photos, the guy who knows how to run the machine at CVS wasn't there that day and Looking Glass told me to come here. So I did. Yes it cost a little more but worth it. They know what they're doing and there's no nonsense. read more

I have loads of 35 mm film negatives that I haven't yet scanned digitally. I needed a select number of frames for a high school reunion, and went through the hassle of looking through tons of negatives to pick out the right ones. I'd already taken the whole package of negatives, notes and flash drives to Digital Roots, but they don't do selective scanning anymore. So, working with A1 Photo Lab was a dream! The scans turned out beautifully, and on-time. Thank you, A1 Photo Lab!! read more

I took my camera in to get the door fixed and lens cleaned. A month later still nothing. This place is horrible. Stay away. And to compensate he offered me $20 off. What a slap in the face. I will never go to this business again. And oh yea my camera is till not ready read more

I brought my nikon FE film camera here to get repaired and I wouldn't recommend them. Originally I was told it would take about 2 weeks to repair, but after 2 weeks I called them and they told me that they didn't know the status of my camera as the tech had it with them and they would call me back after speaking with them. A week later, after they didn't follow up, I called again and was told that they still didn't know the status of my camera and would let me know once the tech came in that day. I never received a call back. This went on for a while. It ended up being $180 to fix and took over 6 weeks. And the mirror is all scratched up now - which doesn't affect the film but still feels incredibly wrong that my equipment came back damaged. read more

Went to get Livescan fingerprinting. Very easy and quick process. Alex was super helpful and fun.

**Hard pass for vintage audio component repair** I thought I'd give this place a try so I dropped off a tape deck and paid the $30 bench fee. I didn't hear back from A-1 for 3 months so I called the office and left a message. The shop phoned back to inform me that the OFF SITE tech had assessed my component and was going to look for the replacement part. Then, 2 months later, I received a call that the OFF SITE tech could not source the part and that I had ONE week to pick up my component or it was going to be trashed/recycled. I rushed over to pick up my vintage tape deck to discover that 3 of the 5 housing screws were missing and one had been threaded sideways. I requested info on the missing screws but the attendant said they could not provide any further information due to the shop's practice of subcontracting component repair work to an OFF SITE tech. *Pro Tip: Go to an actual hi-fi audio repair shop instead of dealing with store front contractors, you'll hear back sooner and not run across missing parts* read more
