Only giving one star because 0 stars isn't an option. What a joke this company is! Chris is an idiot of a plumber. It took him three tries to get a simple faucet drip fixed, he replaced cartridges when it was a water heater problem (confirmed by a reputable company and my own brother in law who is a master plumber in another city), made a mess with mud all over my carpet, and talked to me like he was all knowing and I'm the idiot. American Home Shield needs to drop him now!!!!!!! Update: the helper wasn't sure if the shut off valve was indeed a shut off valve. Water spewed all over both bathrooms and they made no effort to clean their mess. Another update-they don't caulk around the plumbing fixtures they just installed. I wish I could give this company 0 stars. They were sent to us by American Home Shield, which I would also give 0 stars if I could. A+ came out to fix a faulty flapper on our toilet, and take a look at our sink. The plumber "didn't have the part" to fix the flapper, despite the fact that this is a basic repair. They also didn't have what they needed to fix our sinks. So we wait almost two weeks for a follow-up appointment. The return plumber fixed the flapper on the toilet, but again was unable to fix our sink. So the plumber comes a third time, disconnects our sink and strips out all the caulking, and then states that he will need to come back a fourth time to fix it! Well, the fourth time was today - we took the whole day off work (more on that below) and A+ calls and says they will not fix our sink until we make repairs to the hole in the counter where the faucet is mounted. After going around and around, and speaking with a manager, we convince them to come out and at least get our faucet back in working condition. During all of this mess, a washer was lost off the bottom of the faucet and they refused to replace even that until we "fix our counter". This was the worst plumbing experience of my life. They are totally incompetent at plumbing. Their workers are filthy and grimy - and not uniformed I might add. Furthermore, their service is appallingly rude. They won't give you a time window, so you have to take the whole day off of work. They call you to tell you when the technician is coming, but if you don't (or can't) answer, and don't call back within 10 minutes, they CANCEL the call. These people are absurd. Never use A+. I have never written a review because I believe in Karma. But A+ Value Rooter should not be in business. Not only did they have the worst service I have ever experience in my life, but my Home Warranty company decided to run an audit on their services and quickly decided to cancel the partnership for all future work! But if that doesn't convince you, let me give you the facts so you can make your own judgement call. My home is covered by a home warranty company and I was given A+ Value Rooter for my water heater replacement service. Let me start with the simple facts: After being told they would call and schedule an appointment within 48 hours, I called them on the third day to see why they hadn't called yet. They said they were too busy to reach out to me. They said they could make an appointment 5 days out. They were supposed to come out to the house within 24 hours, not 7 days. They came out, checked the issue and said they needed to replace the water heater and would call us back in 24 hours to schedule the installation. Ok, things seemed to be moving along. Great,....right? No. I received no follow-up call. Two days later I called them, they said they were too buys to call back but was "willing" to schedule something a week out...the following Friday. WOW! 2 weeks and no hot water. I told them this was ridiculous and they promptly HUNG UP ON ME! Horrifyingly rude! Friday came around and nobody showed up! I called. They said Monday. Ok, sure. Monday came around. They called and cancelled and said Wednesday. I asked to talk to the Manager and spoke with the assistant manager. She assured me Wednesday would happen and apologized for all the issues. So this is where it got really bad. Wednesday came along and I received a phone call with one ring and no voicemail. I recognized the number and called back. "Hi, this is XXXX. I have a missed call from you." On the other line that lady said "not it" and hung up on me. WHAT? Are you 2 years old? You called me! I called back 2 more times and was hung up on both times. Finally, I gave up and I called my home Warranty Company. The agent decided to call A+ Value Rooter himself. After being on hold for a little while, the agent can back and was horrified. He was hung up on them 4 times! This led to an A+ Value Rooter investigation by the Home Warranty company and prompt discontinue of service for all future work. 19 days and no hot water! So, to summarize...A+ Value Rooter should not be in business. Shame on them for providing a truly horrifying experience to their customer AND partnering company. read more

Can I give zero stars? Is this possible? Today I discovered that the broken handle situation was dripping all night thanks to the plumber not turning the interior mechanism all the way back off after he looked at it. I'm wondering if he was hoping I'd see it, panic, and just pay to have them do the work right away. Fortunately I have a plumber's wrench to turn the thing, but this is just beyond silly. All he had to do was turn the thing with a wrench; you'd almost have to make this "mistake" on purpose. He also seemed to slice a piece of the cartridge off by applying pressure, so now the handle mechanism is more damaged than when he found it and he said nothing. One star is WAY too high. My home warranty provider referred them to me to fix a clogged sewer line. I took a day off of work to wait for them (since they would not give an appointment time). The technicians arrived and asked where the clean out access was, and I pointed to the vicinity where it was located. Granted, I have a 75 year old home and the clean out was difficult to locate. The lead technician, Terry, explained that he would have to charge me directly for him to locate the clean out because my home warranty does not cover it. Thus after a mere cursory three minute look around my yard, Terry presents me with an invoice charging me for his $75 service call. Back in the truck they went and drove off. $75 for what? I had an emergency water issue working through HWA. I told them this is a rental property and i needed a 30 minute warning to get there. The dispatcher called me later that morning and said they would be there between 1-4PM. At 4:48pm (the offices close at 5pm) and I got a called saying he would be their in 30 minutes. We waited till 6:30 before we gave up. The communication between the dispatcher, technician, and client is horrible. T Needless to say the company needs to work on their operations and processes. Writing this in Dec., 2018, about a 2016 water heater replacement, referred by American Home Shield (AHS). They did a good job, with no major additional costs (often a problem with AHS work). No problems over two years later. Note that they did not replace the flex pipe inlet and outflow pipes (which another company now says is necessary and charges extra) and they did a hard-wire installation rather than converting the heater to plug-in (which a second company says is necessary but seems silly when the breaker is just around the corner, but may be a new code issue), which also would have cost extra. read more

My warranty company referred this company to me for a water heater replacement. They quoted me for modifications that were not covered by my warranty and the parts were extremely marked up. Expansion Tank= $327.00 Hard Pipe Modification= $185.00 Pan Replacement= $150.00 -- I ended up cashing out with my home warranty and bought my own parts from Home Depot. Expansion Tank= $40.92 Hard Pipes= $40.41 Aluminum Drip Pan= $17.98 I ended up getting my water heater replaced the same day and total cost for parts plus labor I paid $495.18. My warranty cash out was enough to cover the entire cost. IF I would have opted to use this company, my warranty company would have paid them $471.50 PLUS my out of pocket expense for the modifications of $477.00 We're talking $948.50 for a new water heater.... Needless to say, I was about to be extremely overcharged just for these parts. I would not recommend this company simply because I want to trust a company to be honest, fair, and trust worthy. I have no knowledge about water heaters, but I know how to compare and do research to ensure I am getting the best cost for my hard earned money. I understand small businesses have to mark up and make profit, BUT this overage was not within reason. I expressed my concerns to their representative Heather who advised that their service guy Tom would be at my house before 11am, when he hadn't turned up by noon, I called again & Evan, another rep, assured me he'd be here before 5pm. I told her that I had 4 young children & had taken the day off work but she said he'd be here. He didn't show at all. I called the next day & she acted as if she had no idea about my order. I asked to speak with a manager but she said she was only in the office twice a week. I insisted that AHS assign another plumber & would definitely NOT recommend this company. Is it possible to be less helpful? I doubt it. Absolutely terrible service - twice. My home warranty company selected these guys. First time they spent 3 hours in my backyard hanging out. They said they were waiting on sprinklers to run through a cycle to see if the pipes knocked again. Then they left. Still leaks back there. Then when the shower broke, they came, took the part, left and never returned. Even after the worthless warranty company claimed I somehow turned into Iron Man and magically rusted a part myself, they didn't even offer a quote or to return my part! Sent to us by America Home Shield for clogged drain. They blew the pipes under the sink apart but trying to create a pressure difference while covering the outlets and running the disposal. Something was in the disposal the whole time and it cracked the disposal. Then tried to get us to pay an extra $250 to get the clog out. They did not clean up the mess they made and left, saying they would be back, but never returned. We had to have a different company sent out to unclog the drain, which took no more than 15 minutes. The garbage disposal is now spreading water all over the underneath of the sink, but they are trying to claim that they didn't touch a thing. Do not use this company! read more

I made the claim to AHS on Jan 6 about my garbage disposal not working, Value Rooter came by and said it needed to be replaced and would be calling me back when they got the part. After 2 weeks of not hearing from them, Value Rooter and AHS kept blaming each other for the delay. A week later I got an appointment for them to come replace it. They NEVER showed up. No courtesy call, nothing. I called them the next day see what had happened, they said they did not know! My only recourse was to get scheduled again for the following Monday. Absolutely horrible. My hot water heater (that THEY installed) was leaking into my kitchen. I called Saturday...on the answering machine they say they will return the call within the hour. NOPE. They never called back. I called them Monday and was told they could have someone out WEDNESDAY. This is the best plumbing repair experience we've had since moving to Leander. I have to work through my home warranty company and this time, they dispatched our water heater issue to A+ Value Rooter. I was skeptical, I'll admit, because they are located in Belton....a 70+ mile drive from my house. When the guys arrived last thursday, they were on time & friendly. They immediately diagnosed that we needed a new unit (past repairmen only changed out elements to be quick) and got on the phone to figure out the "what, when, how much" that is so important. They returned yesterday afternoon, upgraded the plumbing that should have been done when the house was built, installed the new water heater and left within about a 2 hour window. Allied Home Warranty assigned them to me and after the 1st no call no show on Wednesday to replace my water heater I called Allied who contacted A+, and the excuse was that there was an issue with the scheduling software. So the Allied agent gave my info to the A+ employee over the phone and they rescheduled me for Thursday, which resulted in another no call no show. Thursday afternoon I called back into Allied and again the agent contacted A+, and said they set me up for "1st thing in the morning at 8am". I received a text Friday at 11:15am by A+ stating that they would be out "between 8am-5pm". I called Allied again at 11:30 to have them confirm with A+, because they weren't answering their phones, and the Allied agent was told by A+ that the tech would be at my place in a few hours. I called back at 5pm, and 7:40pm, with the same excuse and the same no show by A+. Avoid this company at all costs, I cannot believe they are still in business. read more

I called AHS my home warranty company on Mon 3/2/15 that I had a stoppage in my kitchen sink and was paired with A+ Value Rooter I received my confirmation from AHS and later that day I got a call to schedule the service =, the earliest would be Wed when I asked a time frame I was told by them, that I needed to call on Tues after 3:30 when the schedules would be completed. Tues @ 4:15 I called and was told I was the 1st stop but they have a meeting on Wednesday's but the techs should be out by 8:30 and since they were coming from Belton it should be around 9:30-10:00 well no one showed and I waited till 11:00 when I finally called and asked where they were Lisa told me I was misinformed about the arrival time that the tech actually started in Round Rock and would not get to Pflugerville till later in the day. I informed her that I needed to go to work and she did not offer any help, a call would have been nice but I guess that wouldn't happen from all the negative reviews they have regarding customer service. I called back AHS and explained to them what happened and asked them to cancel my appointment and that I better not be charged a fee and asked why they have a company like this when the reviews are so bad she did not give an answer. read more

Would give zeros stars as well if allowed. Home protection sent them over for the leak out of a wall. Had to wait 4 days for them to come out. Really, when water emergency, have to wait 4 days? Once they arrive , at once, without looking at it, said it was a basement leak (no, it was not at all, it was only a simple pipe leak). It was a simple plane sheetrock that covered the pipe and they even did not attempt to remove a sheetrock to get to the pipe. They said we have to get a contractor to remove the sheetrock. Was promised we did not have to wait in line again as we will have a priority since they already have been to our house. Ok. We got sheetrock removed next day. 4-5 days waiting again. We were promised on the phone that they will be able to come and fix it the same day, but said we don't have a priority over others and had to wait 4-5 days this time. I even told them what was wrong, as our insurance company sent out a much more qualified plumber to look at it for insurance claim purpose. A scheduler always spoke very fast, and was trying to get off the phone with you as soon as possible, without listening what I had to say. Ok, finally A+ plumber arrived, only to find he would NOT be able to fix the problem and had to wait another 3-4 days to actually fix it, getting back in line, because "the job was too big, I have to have a helper", etc etc excuses. Seriously, water coming out of the wall, and unable to fix it in 2 full weeks? By this time I did not want them even touching my pipes, and was glad to send them away. These guys are crooks. My Home warranty company picked them to replace my water heater. First it took them more than a week to come out (lucky my leaking water heater is in the garage and not the attic). Then, In front of me they spent the entire time writing a laundry list of up charges and extra stuff that needed to be replaced and brought up to code, including them arguing about min hour charges their owner requires now for these warranty jobs over what the warranty company is willing to pay for and the other guy saying, but we're not suppose to talk about that in front of the customer, sheesh, no brains on these guys. So finally they get back with me and tell me the warranty place will pay for $450 for a new water heater (Makes Sense), and then my part is $1250 on top of that to install it. WOW, I looked up the "Up" charges they wanted to add, Water Heater Stand and Expansion Tank prices ($50 each, plus parts) to realize they are trying to charge me $1100 in labor to install the water heater. They were rude and not helpful at all on the phone. I purchased a water heater from lowes for $400, bought the extra parts on amazon and installed it in about 2 hours. read more

They were recommended to me by my realtor, but their customer service didn't live up to my expectations. I scheduled them to come and put a treatment through the waste lines because I was told they had a lot of build up. They called a day before the scheduled appointment and said they were out of the chemical and cancelled. I appreciate the cancellation, and they called me back 3 weeks later that the product was back in stock now. During that call I made an appointment for the next Wednesday when I could work from home. By noon that day I hadn't heard from them so I gave them a call to get an ETA. They didn't even have my appointment in their system and the receptionist that took the appointment wasn't working for them anymore so they couldn't check. They assured me an agent would be able to still come out but they never showed. Even after I called them a couple times in the afternoon in which they assured me he would arrive that day, he never showed up. This is a $250 treatment and dealing with this low level of professionalism is not worth the price tag. read more

My shower arm is stuck and won't turn off. I called my home warranty and they suggested A+ Value Rooter. They did not call after 24 hours so I had to call. It was on a Friday they couldn't get anyone out until the following Monday between 8 to 5pm. I was told to call on Monday at 8am to get a narrower window. I called at was told between 1 and 130pm. Well 3pm rolls around and no plumber; I call and was told he got caught up in an earlier job. They would not give a time this time. So I wait and by 630pm I call again and there is no answer because it is after hours. Automated voicemail said I could leave a message but then the phone just kept ringing so I couldn't leave a message. By now it is 645p, I call my home warranty and cancel and request another vendor. As soon as I get off the phone with my home warranty the technician calls and says he's on his way and it will be 40 minutes. He even had the service request wrong saying he was coming to replace my water heater; completely wrong. I needed my shower arm valve fixed. Very unprofessional. read more

A+ Value Rooter was recommended to me by TotalProtect home warranty company. I should have been concerned when they were rude on my very first phone call. I told them of my toilet issue--when toilet was flushed, the bowl would fill to top, then drain out at the floor level... through the bolts... onto the floor. A+ Value was less than interested in hearing about the problem. They scheduled a service date with me for a Friday, 4 days later. They said they would come out between 8-5:00 and could not narrow down the window of time. I took a whole day off work. I called at 9am to find out where I might be on the list of daily service appts. Lady was rude. I was told I was #4 in line. At 3:30, I called back and I could hear ladies laughing in background. They said I was next customer in line. At 4:45, they called to say they would need to reschedule for Monday--sometime between 8-5:00! I was so mad. I told them about taking off a day of work, waiting all day, etc. I said I still wanted them to come, even if it was after 5:00. Lady said, "Sorry. Nothing we can do. We're not coming tonight. Do you want Monday or not?" I asked if she could narrow down time window so I would not have take a full day off work. "Nope." I was in the middle of telling her that I needed to get this fixed and I needed them to work with me on the times... and SHE HUNG UP ON ME! Extremely unprofessional! Who are these people? I immediately called TotalProtect to report them. They took a note of the very poor service and recommended a new plumbing service provider. I would NOT recommend A+ Value Plumbing. I have had this company out to my house twice through my home warranty company. Shame on me! The first time was ok, it was a minor toilet issue. Not a big deal. But I told my Home Warranty company that I did not want them back out because they came un-uniformed, no ID's and didn't really seem, to know what they were doing. So when I had the knob on my tub break, I called my Home Warranty again. They gave me A+ Value Rooter again and I said I wanted a new vendor due to the issues I listed above as well as the horrid reviews on Yelp. When I was told they were my only option through the warranty company, I agreed to have them come. The men who came this time were again un-uniformed, and no ID's. One guy definitely seemed lost at what he was doing (New on the job perhaps) and the other guy was on crutches and even mentioned he was making up for lost wages. The man on crutches was the one in charge and he took a look at my faucet knob. Keep in mind, my house is 6 yrs old and I am the original owner. It's the large tub in the master which rarely gets used and the problem was that one night when I went to turn the water on I heard a click as I began to turn the knob and then it was loose and the water would not come on as I turned it further. I knew the knob was probably cracked on the inside but had no idea how to fix it myself. That's why I have the warranty. The plumber called my home warranty company right in front of me and he said he had to check and see if it would be covered because it seemed to him that it was broken due to over use or abuse. I argued with him and he proceeded to tell my Home Warranty company this at which they declined to cover the service allowing him to charge me $165 vs my contracted $60 service call for warranty repair. I told him that if it wasn't covered he might as well leave until I straighten things out with the warranty company. He seemed shocked at my demand. But I explained that I disagreed with his opinion of the cause of the issue and that he had no basis for his diagnosis. I have called my Home Warranty company to report what happened and expect a call back from management by Monday. I will happily report back what they tell me as I am eager to write a review on them as well. But my guess is that this guy was obviously trying to negate the warranty on the service needed in an effort to make more money. Hopefully making me feel like I was obligated to use him since he was sitting in my bathroom. But to his ignorant dismay, the issue was on a non-essential part of my home and I can happily wait another month if I need to for repair as well to shed light on his unethical business practices. read more

Worst Company: I have American Home protection plan. Every time I call in for a plumbing issue, they call these guys and always they try to add on services I did not want and wanting to way over charge me. This very last time was the straw, they were call out for a rusted plumbing and don't want to do it and told the warranty agency that I cause the problem by breaking the bolt which was obvious it was rusted and could not hold the toilet seat anymore. I try to talk to the company and send them pictures but they just ignore my reasonable request just to fix it. I went back to my American Home protection company and sent out another company which fixed the problem without question and they could not understand why A+ Value Rooter made that claim. Worst company; super over charged me. Charged me 125.00 for a permit that cost 35.00 dollars. Told me that he needed to pull the permit under his Master Plumber license, Spoke to the city and I was authorized to pull the permit. A total lie. I paid 275.00 dollars for a 120.00 electric valve shut off, I paid 75.00 for a 40.00 water heater pan and finally a 75.00 dollar disposal fee. All this after my Home warranty paid him for the water heater and labor. A total rip off. To top it all off the city has no record of the permit being pulled on the date the work was completed. So I paid for a permit not used. Its a shame folks treat others like this and even a greater shame they do it to Soldiers. read more

I have used this company before ( through home warranty company) technicians are good at their job but that's not enough, office staff and even their so called assistant manager are extremely unprofessional, they book you an appointment and they take you off without telling you, or they book you over the phone but never enters it into their data base, so basically you are waiting and waiting all day and when calling to find out the ETA they'll tell you , you are NOT on their schedule.. such a hassle to deal with them.. Our home warranty company assigned our claim to this company. It was by far the absolute worst customer service experience we have ever had, whether through home warranty or independently. We opened the claim on Sunday, and as indicated they did contact us on Monday.... to tell me a tech was on his way, not to schedule mind you. Like most people, we work, so I scheduled for Thursday in order to make arrangements to be off work. By 4:30pm Thursday we had not heard a word. We called and they said they had a truck go down. Fine. Things happen. However, they apparently had no intention of calling to let us know. They offered to reschedule for Friday, and when we asked for a time they said they would call us back. We never received that call. Friday morning we called and they said they could put us back on their schedule. Seriously? We should have never been taken off the schedule. They missed their window AGAIN on Friday morning, and when we callled they continually put us on hold and would not take our call. Their dispatch and scheduling department is completely unprofessional and incompetent. They wasted a day and a half of our time. We finally just cancelled with the warranty company. Use their services at your own risk. They have been reported to our warranty company. read more
