They did a build out of our garage turning it into a master suite with interior access to the main level plus a kitchen and bathroom remodel. They've worked with many clients of mine as well. Remodeling is often very stressful. It's also expensive. So I'm not going to say that doing work on your home, big or small, is easy. However, I would absolutely work with them again and always know that I'm in good hands. The pricing seems fair for the market for a full service general contractor with this level of experience and quality sub contractors. They are not the cheap option. When it comes to choosing your GC, it's subjective and personal. It should be a good fit for you.

He came to my property gave me an estimate on my driveway; I agreed to do the work right away, without even negotiating has offered price. He gave me an appointment; so I got a whole day off from work, but he never ever showed up. He didn't even cancel, or call to explain. It's been over a month that I've tried to contact him and he's nowhere to be found. This is not the end. Ironically, several days ago, I found out that my friend actually hired the same crook to do his entire driveway. So, this guy gave him an unbelievably cheap price, then halfway doing his driveway tried to charged triple the amount, claiming some BS with the underground or something. So, my friend forced him to stop the work and eventually hired another company to finish his work.

I posted a few "before and after" pictures to illustrate the project done. The pictures speak for itself in terms of the quality of their work and amazing job completed. Prior to engaging Fui, I interviewed 7 different contractors and walked them through the plans for the backyard. A few of the contractors didn't even call me back after seeing my backyard and the amount of work to be done. During my meeting with Fui, I was impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail as we reviewed my sketches and measured the backyard. Immediately after our meeting, I received photos of his previous job pursuant to my request and submitted his quote for the project within the timeframe promised. Fui provided me a timeline on the completion of his work, the cost of the materials & labor, and a breakdown of the process. The overall cost was reasonable based on the amount of work to be done. I have worked with many contractors before but never worked with someone like Fui. He is very responsive (returns all of my calls), creative, easy to work with, and honest on what will look good in the backyard. Fui provided me updates on the completed portion of the project and asked for my opinion on it. He used quality concrete, wood, mulch, and other products which are reflected on the final product. Fui and his team would do extra work to make sure it is done correctly and not create problems in the future. They even worked in the rain so they can stick to their schedule. My family really enjoyed working with Fui and his team at Lei Construction. I would highly recommend them for any concrete and landscaping work.

I liked his work so much that I recommended him to my sister in South San Francisco. My sister was just getting scammed by this contractor she hired. A contract agreement was made, and he took the advance payment, but it's been over two to three months now and no work has been done. Despite many follow-ups and calls, he has stopped responding and has not returned the money. My friend and I have tried reaching out multiple times without success. If anyone knows how to contact him or has recently worked with him, please share any helpful information. The main goal is simply to have the issue resolved -- if the project can't be completed, he should return the payment. Please be cautious if you plan to hire him for any work until this matter is settled.

After paying $2,935 (over 42% of the total contract), Anthony Zapata has essentially abandoned our project. Timeline of Issues: August 12, 2025: Signed contract for $6,935 of work (backyard landscaping, plumbing, sod installation, retaining wall, pergola, door locks, and painting). Work was scheduled to start August 29th. We paid him $2,935 total: $1,387.01 deposit (for scheduling) $1,387.01 for grass materials $539 for additional materials What We Got for $2,935: Incomplete demo (only pavers removed, concrete still there) Our backyard now looks WORSE than before he started Zero plumbing work (despite taking payment for it) No sod installation No retaining wall No pergola No door lock installation No painting Nothing else from the contract Communication Breakdown: Anthony repeatedly stopped responding to calls and texts. When he did respond, there were various personal emergencies cited as reasons for delays. Current Status (October 2025): After two months of delays and broken promises, I requested a full refund of $2,935. Anthony agreed but stopped responding and didn't provide our refund. Bottom Line: Zapata Construction took nearly half of our contract amount, did less than 5% of the work, left our property in worse condition, and is now ghosting us on the refund. Save yourself the headache and money - hire someone else.
