I can't say enough good things about Eric and his dad -- they are truly the best concrete team I've…read moreever worked with. This is actually my second time hiring them. A couple of years ago they helped me with a smaller concrete project, and I was so impressed by their professionalism and craftsmanship that I knew I would reach out again when it came time to redo my entire backyard. From the very beginning, Eric stood out for his clear communication and honesty. His quote was very fair compared to other contractors I contacted, but what really made a difference was how much thought he put into the design and planning. My backyard was in pretty bad shape -- uneven ground, cracked areas, and even a section near a retaining wall that wasn't very stable. Eric carefully looked at every problem and came up with creative, affordable, and effective solutions. He never tried to upsell or rush decisions. Instead, he made sure I fully understood each option, and he adjusted the plan to fit both my budget and my vision. During the construction, Eric and his dad worked with incredible efficiency and attention to detail. Every single day, they arrived on time, worked hard, and cleaned up so thoroughly before leaving that I could barely tell it was an active construction site. That level of care and respect for a client's home is rare and deeply appreciated. The final result completely transformed my backyard -- the concrete surface is smooth, solid, and beautifully leveled. They even paid attention to the small finishing touches that many contractors might overlook. The project was completed right on schedule, exactly as promised. Eric and his father are honest, reliable, and take great pride in their work. You can tell they truly care about doing the job right, not just getting it done. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to hire them again or recommend them to anyone who needs high-quality concrete work. They're the kind of people you feel lucky to find -- hardworking, trustworthy, and genuinely good at what they do.

After recently expanding our driveway with pavers, we needed to have the concrete opening where the…read moresidewalk meets the street widened to match the new driveway width. Lamata Concrete proved to be the perfect partner for this because the 1) got back to me the quickest, 2) were not deterred by the relatively small size of the job, 3) they were able to fit us into their schedule within a week, 4) they were very price competitive, 5) they communicated very well, 6) and the executed the project quickly and flawlessly (showed up when they said they would and did quality work). I would highly recommend them!

I would have given ZERO stars. Don't trust their overall YELP rating. I made that mistake. I feel…read morethe finished work (driveway, pathways, and wall) are reasonably acceptable. This is ONLY because we checked daily work and instructed them to fix mistakes and sloppy work. They spent a lot of their time redoing what should have been completed right the first time. Daily progress (or lack there of) showed us that the owner/project manager (Tevita/Mata) is not a good project manager nor that he gave his crew clear direction on this project. The process after contract signing was horrible...not at all professional. The project took much longer than Tevita initially quoted (over 2 months vs the 2 weeks he originally told us). This resulted in change orders and cost overruns. He also tried to charge me to fix their breakage/mistakes/errors (e.g., fixing the sidewalk his workers broke). His crew was not respectful of our property (we had to live with their mess...it's not a vacant lot). They did not regularly clean up the work site nor organize equipment and materials left onsite. Seeing their lunch garbage (cans, bottles, wrappers, etc.) at the end of their workday was common. This continued even after repeated complaints to Tevita and to his crew. No one on site could to provide straight answers as to that day's work or when specific project goals would be completed. Whenever I would spoke with him, Tevita made excuses, provided misinformation, denied deliverables he previously promised, and deflected from answering direct questions. He has a habit of talking over the customer when asked questions he doesn't like. On at least one occasion, he raised his voice and started yelling to avoid answering questions. If it was not in writing, he'd say it wasn't what we discussed. I have never had such issues when working with professional/reputable companies. Tevita and his crew failed to meet every single deliverable date he set. I found him very difficult to work with. I feel that he does not show proper respect to the customer. Instead he appears to think that the customer, the person paying him, should accept subpar work. I suspect that he may also not fully understand the processes involved with the work being performed. I feel that Tevita and Lamata Concrete are not professional. They didn't use professional equipment and they didn't manage the job site or their onsite work time professionally. Their workers typically started late morning and were gone by early afternoon. Lamata Concrete has major logistical problems. They couldn't get an adequately-sized crew or required materials to the job site at the start of any given day, typically interrupting workflow for hours to go fetch supplies. Had they staged materials and tools at the worksite (where there was ample area to store all materials needed for the entire project) and had his crew worked a full 8 hours per day at the job site, I believe they could have finished weeks ago. They are SLOW...3 weeks for a stamped concrete driveway and pathways. I definitely CANNOT recommend them for a cinder block wall. It took way too long (over 2 months) to complete. I feel like they have never built this type of wall. I regret hiring Lamata Concrete. I CANNOT recommend Lamata Concrete nor would I use them again. They were such a hassle to work with compared to the many other professional/reputable companies I have hired. My opinion...take their negative YELP reviews seriously and ask for references and talk to those references. Tevita's response is a great example of how he makes excuses, provides misinformation, denies promised deliverables, and deflects from addressing the real issue. I find it a bit childish and very unprofessional.

It was literally a scramble drill to manually water every day until we could move in - not exactly the home-coming we were hoping for. Gerardo and his team restored our faith in contractors. I can't say this with near the emphasis I'd like to right now, but it's important. So I'll try. This crew truly takes pride in what they do. They really care. They were meticulous, respectful, prompt with scheduling and work ethic. Every day, (my wife reports) they busted their butts! So let me back up. Day one when we moved in, we found a blowout on the first manifold of our irrigation system. No water to any of the 12 irrigation zones. Beyond that, we came to learn that tree roots and other problems had completely taken 2 zones offline, and there were an assortment of other problems all over the yard. The wasted water (and bill) must have been enormous for the sellers. Gerardo promised me that he would fix our manifolds (all five of them), plumb them into nice underground vaults, and then ensure every plant on the property had water. He did exactly what he said he would do! In some cases, I had to laugh... If I could complain about anything, the watering efficiency is more targeted than I expected. We literally have little spouts from multiple drip lines directly INSIDE several bushes. ZERO waste. I've been running this thing daily to try and coax what were dying plants back to life. But I think my water bill may still be less than my prior home. Our previously dying plants are greening up. Gerardo fixed all the wiring, programmed my controller, and set us up with a VERY automated yard. The work is beautiful! FAR better than any irrigation system I've had before. Gone are our multiple PVC towers. Now we have beautiful, invisible, underground access panels. Our yard NOW does what we thought it was going to from day 1. Do yourself a favor. Simon and his team completed essentially all of our exterior landscaping, including both the left and right property-line fences, hardscape and softscape, artificial turf, a decomposed granite patio, Delta Blue Bolero grass, irrigation, mulch, and gravel. The fences were built exactly to the required design, including the use of metal fence posts, and Simon was very attentive to getting the details right. I pay a lot of attention to detail and can be pretty particular about execution. What I really appreciated was that Simon and his crew never seemed put off by the high bar. They understood what we were trying to achieve, worked tirelessly to meet it, and still managed to move at an impressive pace. My experience with Simon is that as long as your design intent is clear and properly communicated, he will find a way to accomplish it. He also had no problem with me being very hands-on throughout the construction process, which I really appreciated. Beyond the contracted work, Simon was incredibly helpful with things that were technically outside the original scope. He was also very flexible with scheduling when I ran into material-supply delays, and always approached changes and problems with a positive, can-do attitude. Just as importantly, Simon is a genuinely enjoyable person to work with. I really enjoyed our end-of-day beers together after wrapping up the work -- a small thing, but it says a lot about the kind of working relationship we had. Simon and his crew are hardworking, capable, responsive, and great people to have around. We're extremely happy with how everything turned out, and I'd happily work with them again.

He led with a story that they were replacing a neighbor's driveway around the corner and it would be loud the next day, then continued talking until I asked him to get to the point. He became slightly combative and claimed he had already secured a consultation appointment with one of our neighbors on our private court. I told him we were not interested. I later checked with neighbors on our court via group text--no one had scheduled a consultation with him. There was also no construction noise the next day from any driveway work around the corner. Both statements were false. I called Palm Construction's corporate office to report the interaction and make it clear they are not welcome on our private court. Despite that, someone from the company returned to our private court yesterday. I followed up with corporate again, more firmly. First impressions are lasting impressions. Based on this experience, their sales practices appear questionable. I would not recommend engaging with them.
