However, what makes My Favorite Place different is that they are more flea market than consignment/antique store, and this is something that they fully embrace and own! We have popped into My Favorite Place a couple of times over the years in search of things we never knew we needed. MFP is a treasure trove of used items ranging from trinkets to furniture that are stacked from wall to wall and floor to ceiling, they even have pieces outside lining the sidewalk. To go back to the "flea market" comment, that is truly what the items here are. The store feels like one big yard sale with majority of the items simply being used and old, not really antiques or collectibles. Due to this and the way things are stacked and shelved, a lot of items are pretty beat up. They have a solid selection of furniture pieces, but again they are chipped and worn. If you are after furniture and plan to finish it yourself, then MFP is a solid option for you! Prices are fair and decent for everything in here, even the furniture. The pricing reflects the condition, so again if you are a DIY-er, then you can really find some great deals and good pieces here. Overall, My Favorite Place is a combination of over and underwhelming. Overwhelming in the way of volume of items, haphazard organization and stocking and underwhelming in the condition of items. Bet you didn't know they did re-upholstery, did you? Neither did I until City Issue referred me to them. Apparently they do some of City Issue's mid century modern furniture re-upholstery. For starters I bought this absolutely gorgeous mid century Dux chair that was covered in this hideous stained fabric that I knew I could get redone to look more period; the price was good so I had to buy it. After I bought the chair I had an email convo with one of the designers to get a quote for my chair and ottoman. I provided her with pictures and dimensions. She gave me the quote, $350 which isn't that much considering the front and back needed to be replaced as well as the ottoman. She also asked me to come in and pick a fabric. They have loads of fabrics to choose from; all styles and all price ranges. They also will let you bring in your own fabric, which is what I did (I bought my fabric at Lewis and Sheron). They quoted me a time of when my chair would be ready. I picked it up when it was done and my jaw dropped. My chair was now pimped out and bad ass. They did a wonderful job and I am so happy that I used Nandina. That chair is now my seating pride and joy. *I will post some pictures when I get around to taking them.

That dishwasher cleaned a pit that had been used to cook oatmeal and sat for four days. Amazing. The service technician from Howard Payne who did the installation was very knowledgeable and has been with the company a long time. Great company!

As I approached the key stand to get some keys cut, there were two employees ready to help. Shout-out to super-friendly Sahil for proactively asking me about my keys as soon as I pulled them out of my pocket. She let me know what my options were and I chose to have three standard keys cut at $2.98 each. Three total rang up to $9.74 after tax. Sahil told me this is the "fun" Ace Hardware and I could see why. The staff trended younger and more "hip." I'm a fan of Ace Hardware in general because each store feels like a small, local, and unique business. This one especially so. It's popular among locals with a strong sense of neighborhood and community. And, like other city Ace Hardware stores, it was densely-packed with all sorts of useful hardware and garden items. If you've never visited this location before, be sure to check out the beautiful plant room. They have a good selection of plants and a big wall of seeds. They even sell King of Pops here. Limited free parking is available on-site. I visited during a peak time and was able to snag a spot. If no spots are available, just park on Drewry St NE (also free).
