I needed to renew my vehicle registration at a STAR station. I went to A-Tek two years ago, and I went back again the other day. I didn't make an appointment and had to wait a little while, but they have a little waiting area with chairs. When it was my turn, it only took 10 minutes! It was quick and easy. The guy told me that he submitted my information to the DMV. FYI, they do not accept credit cards. You must pay with cash or Zelle. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for great service! read more

The place was easy to find. The owner was a very professional and honest uncle. Quiet but hardworking. There was a little wait, I would say about 10 to 15 minutes. Showed up early on a Saturday without an appointment. I was third in line for a smog check and was out in about 45 minutes. The technician was friendly and he sent my smog certification electronically to the DMV. I would definitely recommend him for a smog check. Keep in mind he accepts cash or Zelle only. read more

Called the phone number listed on profile but no one is answering and mailbox is too full to leave a message. What a waste of time! Needed a smog check for my vehicle registration and the smog check center I normally go to was closed. I found A-Tek Smog Check through Siri. I called them up and was told they are open and available. I took a 7 min drive and they took me in right away. They were fast, prompt and efficient. I will no longer go to my previous smog check center, A-Tek is my new favorite place. There price was cheaper than my former smog check center too. I highly recommend this place. read more

With many dealerships no longer offering smog checks it is good to have a local independent shop like A-Tek. I am a strong believer in supporting local mom and pop shops. They owner was very chill and helpful. The painless process took only 10-15 min. And the cost was fair. I was dreading the possibility of the test being over $100 since oil changes have creep up to that' level now. Thank goodness it was only $60 all inclusive. read more

Boyfriend's car needed a smog and hadn't been driven in 6 months due to his medical conditions. Brought the car, the owner Lac said I needed to drive it another 50 miles, something about a sensor. Drove it, brought it back with a.ceck eng light. He checked the code, told me the issue. He told me to drive it again after he cleared the code. Brought it back and no issues. He is very knowledgeable, very polite and so easy to work with. No shady business at this shop, everything is on the up and up. Will bring my cars here again for smog when needed. I came here on a Monday morning because I needed to get a smog check at a STAR certified place. The service was so quick! It was my first time getting a smog check done and the technician there made it super quick and easy. He was super nice and the whole process only took about 20 minutes start to finish. He sent the passed certification right away and I was able to register for my tags as soon as I got home. I've come here twice now (for two different vehicles). Both times I was very happy with the service. The prices are very reasonable, and he knocked out the smog check in 15 minutes. Just wonderful! I took my car back here after the place by my job, that I went to during my lunch, refuse to smog the car because it failed. I hurried home after work took the car to LAC. He was great, went over the whole car properly seen the parts I replaced with the OEM stuff and the car passed with flying colors. Brought my 1990 E30 M3 over to Luc Tran's shop for a routine smog check and he was completely clueless as to what he was doing. When he started to reverse the car up the ramp, I told him to make sure the transmission clicks into reverse and already messed that up. He took about 3 tries to get the car to reverse up the ramp cause he couldn't drive the stock oem clutch on the car. Next he tells me that because my car is older than 1995 it needs an EVAP test but this car is exempt from EVAP since none of the adapters will work for this specific car. I watch him for 30 mins trying every adapter and gasket he has and it doesn't fit. He administers a test where he could not attach to the gas tank properly and did not have an air tight seal. I even called the California air resource board and they confirmed in the 10 years I've owned this car the EVAP test was never done. He then tells me my check engine light is broken when this car didn't come with one from the factory. Tells me my headers are aftermarket when it's 100% oem. I told my mechanic about it and he was surprised that this classic restoration did not pass and said that the smog guy is an idiot. This guy Luc Tran is a crook charges you for services your car doesn't need. If you have a Prius sure go to this guy but if you have a classic or something old Luc won't know what to do read more

The owner Lac was very warm, welcoming, reassuring, attentive, and communicative throughout the entire smog check process. The smog check took about 20 minutes and contactless payment was available. Lac even informed me that I have a recall notification for my car. When first discovered the location and requested a quote on Sunday, I didn't expect to get a response until the next opening day but I received a response promptly after my request. I appreciate the effort and overcommunication, which made it an easy decision to get a smog check at A-Tek. read more

While we were sitting around, I was browsing around yelp and noticed that this place offers a coupon discount on smog check. It states "must present coupon prior to service". When he pulled up with a paper for a signature, I mentioned this discount to him and he told me that I needed to show him that when I came in. It doesn't specifically state on the coupon that I needed to show the coupon when I come in. Plus, he didn't even start the service on my car yet. He was really rude about it after and told me he is losing money if he decided to give me the promotion and he can't just adjust the price after printing out the paper. There was also no apologies. If he wants to do business correctly, he needs to own what is said on the coupon and not just change it last minute. I just felt bad vibes throughout this experience and left with a sour taste in my mouth. I ended up paying almost $60 for this smog check which I could've done for cheaper at another place. Thank Goodness they were opened until 2pm and only had 1 customer before me. The total time spent was approximately 30 minutes and total cost was $55 (accepts Cash, CC, Zelle). Maria helped me and she was SO nice! I am not sure if I may need another smog check anytime soon, but I do plan on referring friends and family here if they ever need one. I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.

The pricing was very reasonable, especially compared to dealers and chain shops. The work was done professionally and efficiently, and my car drives perfectly. You can tell Jose takes pride in his work and runs his shop with integrity. It's refreshing to find an auto shop where you actually feel comfortable and trust the person working on your car. If you're looking for an honest mechanic who does quality work at fair prices, this is the place. I've been with Jose a couple years now to see if he would try to shady me later on, but still honest works hard is thoroughly explains everything. I'm very happy giving my business here and will continue to come here. PS - I bring both mine and my gf's car here and we both share the same great experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Came in with an exhaust rattle on the flex pipe on my Taurus SHO. He got the job done fast and properly and made sure to check his work after to verify the exhaust had no leaks in the welds. He went beyond that and painted the areas he welded to prevent rust. I tried to give him a tip and he politely declined, what a stand up guy. I'll be back for any other exhaust work or upgrades I need because of the level of service he provided, thank you Josh!!!!

I Ended up going with Auto Squad and I'm really glad I did. Matt diagnosed the issue quickly and knew exactly what was going on without any runaround. What really stood out to me was the communication, he kept me updated every step of the way and even sent progress pictures, which gave me a lot of peace of mind.
