Japong Bakery - 10" Chocolate Blueberry w/flan cake

Overall: Japong Bakery is a hit for bread, would come back to try some more…read more Food: The bread here was fantastic, each one has their own charm and there is a wide enough selection that everyone has at least one that they will like. I especially liked the sandwich bread, it reminded me of the breakfast sandwiches I would get in Taiwan. Service: Normal service for an Asian style bakery, you get the bread yourself and pay at the register. Ambiance: A chill ambiance inside with a few tables. Enough to have a small group, but not exactly roomy enough for larger groups.

Last Sunday, I wanted to happily buy a cake for Mother's Day but after I already paid as price tag was shown. The owner suddenly came over and said there was an extra charge because it was a "Mother's Day Special" . Apparently "Special" means rising the price by surprising their customers. Honestly, if there's a holiday surcharge, I would truly understand! But it should be clearly stated before payment -- not after. Very disappointing experience. I only bought it because my mom loves mango cake, but I definitely won't be coming back again I am pretty certain that you're not allowed to raise the price on an item already paid for. It's not the money. It's the principle. This is unethical.

White Magnolia Milk Tea - Floral without being perfumey or too sharp! Pretty good balance of tea to milk ratio and reminds me of molly tea. 4/5 Jasmine Milk Tea - honestly pretty good too. feels like a molly tea knock off with the menu offerings, cup designs and even flavor profile. its slightly too sharp but still good. 3.75/5 Da Hong Pao Milk Tea - the tea flavor is there but it doesn't mix as well as the magnolia or jasmine. I think they are better at more floral teas but this wasnt bad. 2/5 Banana Pudding Matcha - Banana flavor was not strong, it was not sweet when it should have definitely been more sweet and the flavors just didnt mix very well 0.5/5 Portugese Tart - pretty good but nothing too memorable 2.75/5

I went to Teamania for the first time and I am quite disappointed. I've heard good things, yet it…read moredoes not live up to the expectations. When I first walked in, the aesthetic of the place was great. It was quite big with a nice corner to relax in and a display of snacks. The staff was also very friendly and respectful while I was looking at the menu. However, the food and drinks are where this becomes a 2 or 3-star experience. The Items I Ordered: * Brown Sugar Cookie Boba Tea: This was bland and had little to no flavor. The milk was overpowering, and it had almost no brown sugar or cookie taste. * Soufflé Pancakes: I was told these were "authentic Japanese Pancakes," but I am heavily disappointed. The presentation was poor: a paper plate with pancakes surrounded by fruits, a dab of ice cream, and a small plastic bowl of cream. The pancakes themselves were bland and very eggy. Unfortunately, they tasted more like an egg pancake than the traditional Japanese style. They were also very dry. If the cream wasn't included, I wouldn't have even eaten them. Having to rely on the cream just for the pancakes to have flavor or moisture is very disappointing. * Chocolate Lava Buns: I bought one of these, and it was just okay. They were fluffy, but the chocolate inside wasn't melted. It was also very bitter and very heavy on the dark chocolate side so it was not a "savory taste" for what I had thought originally. * Cherry Tart: This was the final item I bought, and again, it was only okay. The bun was a bit hard. While the flavor was better than I expected at first, it fell off quite quickly and became unappetizing. Final Verdict: Would I recommend this place? Not necessarily. Unless you are just looking for a corner to study in and bring your own food, I wouldn't suggest it.

I'm choosing joy. I'm choosing vibes. I'm choosing snacks. While back on the dating scene, I literally have one rule: pick me up/send me an Uber and I'll go wherever with you. I'm in my YES phase right now. YES to every invite! No dietary restrictions here...I'm open to all the things. Gluten? Yes. Sugar? Absolutely. Anything yummy, anything bad? Hand it over. I'm not fighting for my life in the gym yet. I was told I would be on the best date ever. Best date ever? Hmmmm. Very, very confident. I love that energy. Well, Pike & Rose is amazing. I'm late to the party, but I arrived cute, so it's fine. I'll give it to him, great date. But what made it spectacular was him introducing me to The Baked Bear. I do love nice things, roses, and gifts, but the way to my heart is SWEETS. Love me with sugar and I'm likely to like you more. This was a direct hit. A bullseye. Cupid could never. I've never been to Pike & Rose. I do not like driving, so this area has never crossed my mind. But yes, thank you for the intro. I will now be acting like this is my spot. We walked up and wow...the line was so long. There will be lines, fair warning. The neon sign was everything because I am the Cookie Monster of the DMV. If it's baked, warm, sprinkled or melts slightly when you touch it, I want it. Hand it over! Cute places to sit outside the shop! Very date‑night worthy, and lots of couples doing sweet couple things. I love... love. This was lovely to see; old couples, new couples, couples who look like they met on the walk over. Love is beautiful. Let's get into it! I did not want to do the brownie cookie sandwich, but my new big‑back friend said I could and should, so I did. Don't threaten me with a good treat. I will crumble faster than the cookie. The ice cream choices complement all things ice cream sandwich. Truly no wrong choices just great ice cream flavors for the best ice cream sandwich or bowl! This was so delicious. I'll be back...a big back, all the backs!!!

Bonjour, Mon Ami! ( Hello, my friend...) It is good to visit and enjoy your delicious pastries!…read moreEven though I arrived late in the day, the pastry cases were full of enticing baked goods. There was every kind of croissant you can imagine. I bought my favorite almond croissant. There were fruit and cream filled pastries. I bought a fruit and cream filled pastry too. There are cases filled with pastries. Service was great. I was waited on right away and they packed my box in a bag with a handle, to make it easier to carry. Au revoir, for now! There's seating inside, but the seating area is pretty small and some people were at tables looking like they weren't going anywhere anytime soon. It was a nice morning, so we were able to grab an outside picnic table. The service was decent. One disappointment was when the counter person asked me if I wanted room for cream in my coffee, I said yes and asked if they had nondairy products. She said they had almond and soy. I asked for soy and she returned with my drink. When I went to pay, I saw they charged 79 cents for almond, soy and oatmilk. Ok. Here's the thing. I assume it's on the board and I should have looked, but she also could have mentioned it. Also, charging for these items when they put a little in your coffee leaves me feeling like I'm being abused for not being a dairy person. I get it - it's a pastry shop and the items are buttery and rich from cream. But please - 79 cents for a little soy milk? (I know this isn't uncommon for coffee shops, but it doesn't make it right.). And the coffee ($4.25) was decent - not great. I expected better (richer, more flavorful) coffee from a nice pastry shop like this. Anyway, it's a nice neighborhood place and there's a lot of treats there.

The frosting used on the outside and the cream used on the inside was not the fluffy and soft kind we liked and was not similar to the other cakes from this bakery that we liked. It tasted like hard butter and unfortunately we had to throw out the entire cake since everyone refused to eat more than the first bite. My husband asked the employee if this was a vanilla sponge cake and they said yes since he cannot eat chocolate cake. Unfortunately once we cut it, it was chocolate. It was a waste of $50+ and would not recommend unless you're just purchasing for pictures and not to eat. The mango and strawberry croissants were good with sweet whipped cream. I liked how the cream also tasted like mango in the mango croissant. The sweet pretzel was also good and crunchy. The inside of the store is nice with plenty of tables. I also liked how there were a lot of outlet spaces.
