After checking a few places we decided on A Simple Move because they specifically mentioned piano moving. We needed to get my piano and my daughter's wheel and kiln, shelf unit and 30 year old doll house to her house. AJ, Aubrey and Sonny showed up to move those heavy and fragile items. They were very careful and actually recommended we take the doll house in our truck to make sure it didn't get damaged - but they loaded and unloaded it for us. All three of the guys treated our items with care and were very nice. I would use A Simple Move again and ask for them specifically. UPDATE: The moving part went well but when I went downstairs last night I noticed that the slate tile floor was damaged where the piano had been dragged around to face the stairs - instead of lifted. (see pictures) There is even one tile that is completely cracked. I don't know what it will take to fix it but we'll be working to find that out. Also - I will have to go look at the legs of the piano to see if there was any damage there. I have been using A Simple Move out of Aurora Colorado for around 8-10 years now. We call about every 2 years for help (I think today was my 5th or 6th time using them). It is always to move heavy things from upstairs to downstairs, vice versa or to take things to good will. If we ever move from this home, you can bet I will ONLY be calling them!! They are amazing. Three GREAT gentlemen, moved my 90 year old mom into an apartment From a 3 bedroom house. These guys arrived on time, telephoned they were on their way too. They wrapped mom's antique furniture in blankets and plastic wrap. They even moved the guest room furniture into the master for "staging". They were courteous and respectful at the adult living space. They had some heavy, well built 1940 wood furniture to move. The team was efficient moving boxes very quickly. Around an hour to move boxes for 3bd/2ba house with no garage. We had a tricky treadmill to move out of the house and the team worked together to figure out a solution, which took a bit more time. Moving in was great too. I was waiting for the movers to show up, and then called them to when they were late. I was really freaked out, imagining the worst. Dwayne immediately reassured me, telling me he was going to be there. He then realized that he had made a mistake when booking me. After that, he showed up quickly, apologized, told me he would take good care of me and started working on my move. We're all human and can make mistakes, but Dwayne and his company are cut from a different caliber that own up to a mistake and then rise above. We were very lucky to be able to find A Simple Move and they were extremely helpful! Our original movers no showed us (even with confirming earlier in the week) and we had a 26 foot truck to unload in front of our new home within a day or two before the truck was due back. We were frustrated and overwhelmed with the situation and that's where A Simple Move stepped in. When they weren't sure where things needed to go they asked. If an item was put in the wrong place they moved it. They will assemble any furniture that you need put together. Sir Nicholas and I have moved a lot over the past 2 years - Denver to LA, LA to SF, and now SF back home to Denver (hooray!!) - and so we have experienced a lot of movers during that time. As we drove halfway across the country we started talking about how all of our movers had actually been pretty awesome, which truthfully wasn't something we expected when we had hired our very first set of movers. We had heard the horror stories about broken stuff, stolen stuff, tardiness, etc., etc. and so that made us concerned. But after a half a dozen moves I can happily say I never experienced any of that bad stuff and the fellows from A Simple Move were no exception to this rule. Prompt and friendly, our two movers showed up with a pair of gloves and very strong muscles and proceeded to move all of our belongings to our 3rd floor apartment. It took about 3 hours from start to finish and the price was very reasonable in my mind. Setting up an appointment to have the movers come is super easy - just a quick phone call will do it. And the guys called me the day before our actual move in to confirm all the details. I'm crossing my fingers that I won't need movers for a good, long while, but if I do I'd definitely call A Simple Move again in a heartbeat. read more

First of all, I want to say that the two guys who were on my job full time were great. I watched one of them pick up three small boxes packed full of hardcover books and carry it out like it was nothing. Those men worked their butts off. There were some problems with supervision. They showed up about a half hour after the latest time in their start window, and I had stressed the need for an early start time since there is only one elevator in my apartment - the earlier we could start, the less competition for the elevator. Since I was paying the downtown fee, the early start time was important to me, which I'd repeatedly noted. Money down the drain. Anyway, when they did show up the team leader said they'd brought three guys rather than the two I'd requested - did I want to up to a three man/hour job? Sure, I said, if it'll get done faster. Oops. Well, two of them still did all the work. I found out later that the third, the team leader had been working until 3am the morning before. I never saw him do a thing - he stayed in the truck the entire time. To ASM's credit, they did eventually bring in someone else to take his place. It probably wasn't anyone's fault really, just an unfortunate situation - but, I'm the one who ended up paying for it. Finally, the move in took about one hour, while the move out took about THREE. Nothing was dropped off on the way (5 minute drive), and waiting for the elevator doesn't take that long. On the way to my new place, they also were flagged over by someone on the street who was jumping up and down pointing at the back of the truck. They were following me, so I couldn't see what had happened... when I asked, they said "Oh, I think a dolly fell off or something." I still don't know what I might have lost, and no one would give me a direct answer about what happened. They read these, so maybe they'll let me know what was apparent enough that a skater waved them down. Anyway, my bill was $450 to move a 2 bedroom apartment about 12 blocks - lots of boxes. read more

A NOT-SO-SIMPLE MOVE BUYER BEWARE: you pay to have ASM come to your house, pick things up, and put them down elsewhere. You DO NOT get a guarantee that they'll do it without damaging the items. That is, unless you pay $300 extra for their "insurance." Their movers dropped one piece of a very expensive five piece bunk bed set so that the top bunk could no longer be used. They additionally put holes and scratches in the walls of both the new and old places. When I called and spoke to Dwayne about the damage, he admitted he'd put the wrong crew together (one of them had been on the job three days). When I told him how much it would cost to replace the damaged piece, his reply was, "I'm not paying that. I'm only liable for .60 per pound." So, he was only willing to pay $60 for an $800 piece. The argument over compensation for the damaged furniture went on for three days before I finally gave up. Dwayne stonewalled, and his co-owner (I don't recall her name) didn't get back to me until I'd already contacted my bank. To be fair, they did have a handyman come and repair the damage to the buildings right away. It's also possible that the lady might have made things right, but given how slowly they were working on the problem (Dwayne was downright rude and bullheaded throughout the ordeal), we had no choice but to move on (our son had been sleeping on the floor for three nights already). Bottom line: if you hire ASM, be prepared to spend an extra $300 ON TOP OF your move to actually ensure it's done safely. A damage-free move isn't included in their base cost. read more

Complained the whole time to me about how heavy things were and how tired and sore they were. Got old very quickly. While one of them thought I was out of earshot they talked shit about me and how they were going to upcharge me. This resulting from me having a metal framed couch. They had the audacity to accuse me of intentionally withholding information on how heavy the couch was even though they never asked about what I was moving or how heavy things were. They said it was my fault that they didn't bring more movers (they had brought two) for a third floor move even though I gave them that information when I scheduled, and they let YOU choose how many movers and how many hours. They refused to let me give them the address of the new place and instead I had to drive slow with them following me (trying not to lose them and trying not to impede traffic) which was very stressful and dangerous. Ended up costing me an arm and a leg and a day's peace. Anything but a simple move. EDIT: Reading other reviews reminded me that when they were 10 minutes late I called. They said they had lost my number and were hoping I would call because they were going to be 2 hours later than scheduled. read more
