The people are so friendly and helpful, Peter especially, as my brother had just passed away and I was loading all of his stuff into storage. The place is so clean and the access is easy I could pull my truck very close to my unit. There are dollies nearby to help you load and unload, it's air conditioned and there is a clean bathroom available. The fees are very reasonable. If I needed another storage space again I would definitely go back there. I give 5 stars!

I am so glad to be done with San Rafael Self Storage. When my fiance and I moved into a condo with…read moreno garage, we decided to keep some of our belongings in storage (he builds cars as a hobby and there was nowhere in our home for all of the tools and tires). It was a short-term solution that should have been pretty uneventful, however, we found San Rafael Self Storage to be sub-par. Two major issues accelerated our choice to move things out quickly after we moved into our house. 1. Leak in the roof. We had our items in temperature controlled storage on purpose. In addition to car items, we also kept some keepsakes here. We were SO disappointed to find a leak had let a ton of water into our unit over the winter. Very thankfully we had our items in closed plastic bins, but this not only should not have happened, but when we reported it, their resolution was lack-luster ("you can move your things to another unit, but we do not promise there will not be leaks.") 2. Homeless people sleeping in the entry and using facilities. This is supposed to be secured storage -- we have to punch in a custom code every time we come and go. Unfortunately, the local homeless population seems to jump the (very low) barriers to the property and on several occasions I found people using the bathrooms to shower or sleeping in the building. In a facility that often has no onsite staff, such lax property security made me feel very uncomfortable being there alone or after dark. I'm not sure what better options are available, but I would certainly not recommend San Rafael Self Storage.

This review, is specifically to provide acknowledgment to Norah, the wonderful, outstanding manager…read morewho does everything to make sure H & H is run well. She cares for the tenants, their belongings, and has a huge heart. She is the employee every company would love to have, competent, efficient, and a lovely person, on top of her other skills. This past year I ended up with a mouse/rat infestation, due in part to the location of the ground floor unit. It was distressing, and nothing seemed to work keeping them out. Even though I had most of my belongings in plastic bins, some furniture had rat urine stains, it was terrible. Once Nora helped me, they moved me into another unit. What matters to me as much as the safety and security of my belongings, was working with Nora for over ten years. If you need a secure and trustworthy place with your belongings, I would definitely recommend going to see Nora at H&H, she'll help you get squared away with the right unit.

Chris and Sara, the owners, who also live onsite, go out of their way to please their customers. I rented a 10-ft truck from them last week, when they already had promised all their 10-ft-ers to others; Chris decided to give a free size upgrade to one of the customers that had reserved a 10-ft, so that he could rent that 10-ft to me, a local repeat customer. Wow! He and Sara practically treated me, an 81-year-old who lives very close by in a seniors mobile home park, like family, even giving me a discount when I returned the truck. What a way to treat an occasional, repeat customer! I've also seen their interactions with other customers, treating everyone to friendly, efficient service.
