Water leak in d building a known problem . I had three leaks in two years. Most recent June run off flooding into my d unit 5x10. I called district on April 17 Took there weeks to hear from district level . Denise said there was nothing wrong. That people came out and said there was no leaks and they wanted me to pay rent for June then I had a float on June 10 so I don't owe you any money because you told me it was fixed and you didn't move me if you read below some other lady had sea pitch but they moved her but they never move me because even when I talked to Josephine to move me into a unit she rented it out to somebody else and she's done it twice. These people are no problem solver they don't care if your stuff gets ruined. They just tell you to go get it covered by insurance, but they're not taking any responsibility of upkeep for these buildings. The fiberglass wall coverings are falling off they're molded. You can hear frogs you see Mars. There's a bad runoff in front of the door and all they did was they gave me a friendly reminder to evict by mid July so even though I paid my rent and I've been a solar Customer for 20 years they would not they won't fix it and they won't move. Public Storage is a total racket. They charge you one price when you first start and then up at every few months $40. Being adjacent to a wetland many of their units leak leading to mold issues. My unit became infested with moths they did nothing about it. They're hard to reach rarely on the facility. The elevator feels like it's gonna break down every time you're on it. I will get out of there as soon as I have a place to put my things and never use them again. read more

I've had a mixed experience at Public Storage (Landing CT). On one hand, the security and accessibility are great. However, I am very disappointed with the management's pricing strategy. My monthly rate has increased by $100 twice in the last year. It's hard to recommend a place that punishes loyal customers with such frequent and significant increases. This is a very clean well-maintained facility. Josephine and Enselmo (sp?) provided excellent customer service. It is well lite and I always feel safe there. My only grievance is that Public Storage keeps raising the rate on the units every few months. That would be okay if you were just renting for a short period but this is not affordable for long term storage. read more

Back in 2020 my oldest brother had a stroke. He was moved to an assisted living facility. We moved some of his property to public storage. Throughout the years the rent got higher. They are now billing me $528 a month for a $399 10 x 10 unit. I talked to Josephine who gave me the GM's name and number. His name is Donald Sabiniano. Talked to him today . She was very patient and courteous as I asked probably too many questions. She also checked on us to make sure we had what we needed and everything was going ok. It's a nice facility---clean, well-run. They are very lucky to have Josephine as the manager, because she's fantastic. The place is SUPER clean, painted, by far the best storage I've ever had. I was unhappy about some elements and gave Josephine some grief (remaining polite, just sharing concerns). She kept her cool, remained polite and not defensive. It's clear she's concerned about making it a great experience for customers. Public Storage, not so much! This company is serving the usual corporate nickel-and-diming. I'm only there because it was the best option to get my stored stuff close enough to where I live that I can get it sorted over the next six months and get a smaller space. A couple things to be aware of, which is not explained to you until it's too late: 1) you're charged from the date you sign the contract, not the date you reserve to move in. This important fact was never explained to me until after I paid. So I reserved the place on the 14th as of the 21st (and actually wanted to move in on the 25th!) but was charged from the 14th, an extra week. 2)They charge you a full month, then prorate the remainder of whatever month you move in for the next month which is due at the beginning of the following month. This ends up being the same amount, but it is backward from how it would reasonably by charged and all about getting as much of your money into their cash-gobbling maw as quick as possible 3) They automatically add insurance, which you have to go into the office and sign a waiver to remove (your home or renters will usually cover this). 4) They add a charge for a lock, which you have to go into the office with your own lock to remove. 5) Their app doesn't work. I have never been able to open the gate from my phone. But every time I got there, they send me a code to download the app, and encourage me to use it. But there's no tech help if it doesn't work, so---I have to get out of my car and enter the code every time. 6) that famous 1$ first month? It's neve available at the site you want...it's called bait and switch. Anyway--really nice site, entirely because of Josephine!! read more

We were looking for a storage unit several years ago. This was at first a bit more reasonable and close to our home. It became clear after about a year when they raised the rent significantly that we should try to find a smaller unit somewhere else to save money. We rented another public storage in Santa Rosa but after showing up during business hours and having to wait for the employee for almost three hours to let us in (the gate code that was given to us was incorrect) we decided to keep our original space in Novato but were charged double rent for a month. After another year the rent was raised more than it was worth so we decided to vacate our unit before we were charged another month. Our unit was on the second floor and besides the stairs there is only one elevator to haul the heavy stuff. When I came to move out it was out of service and I had to haul everything down the stairs which was a liability because of its size and weight. I requested a discount from the management and heard back later that they couldn't do anything because my account was now closed. So I contested the final months rent with my credit card but this angle didn't work either. In short, once they have you in a position where you're dependent on their storage, they raise the rent with little regard for their customers. read more

They make it very easy to rent and move your things in. App controlled gate is a plus. But this location often had the gate wide open without any auto closure. Didn't make me feel like the property was very secure. Tough to reach the manager of the property. What's worse, they initiated a 25% rate hike 6 months into the rental without any notice. I phoned and requested a review, and they instantly changed it back to original price. Open email today to find that my auto-payment was 25% higher again! Only 3 months later. What's the use of an app and online account if they don't provide any documentation of rate hikes within your account. They claimed to have mailed something, but I have the USPS Informed Delivery and have never seen one piece of mail from Public Storage. Definitely not a fan of Public Storage and will go back to a locally owned facility. read more

Prices go up, of course but upon move out, I had zero mold or mildew on any of my belongings or furniture and the lovely woman in the front office was super helpful, had me checked out literally the moment we were done emptying my unit. I'd originally reserved a spot in downtown SF to store my shit until I found a perm apartment. Finding it small, damp, and difficult to move in to, I asked for an alternate location and found this one in Novato. They offered a drive-up 10x15 for $380/month. Not cheap, but considering I was only going to be there 6 weeks and the first month was $1, it sounded like a great option. Upon arriving, they had me ready to go and move-in was easy. The driveways are nice and wide, so you're not trying to squeeze by your neighbor while getting to your unit. All the people I dealt with in the office were friendly and competent. When my keys and access code (in my wallet) were stolen, they immediately changed the code and thew an additional lock on until I could come up and get things straightened out in person. When I finally did find an apartment in SF, I went up to start clearing out my unit and asked how much notice I'd need to give. I'm pretty sure the contract said 7 days, but they just let me move out the next day and didn't bill me for anything after that. Considering the financial hit I'd just taken due to the above mentioned incident, it was a very nice gesture. read more

Melissa helped me with filling out paperwork for another location; I wanted to secure a storage space for the month of November, but I wouldn't be in that other location's area until a couple of weeks later. Although Melissa wasn't sure of the policy, she called the other location to find out more information. Paperwork got faxed over, and I filled it out. I was grateful to have the option to fill out paperwork locally (Novato), so that I could secure a space to secure my vehicle at a location closer to the airport. However, a couple of things were frustrating. I had to leave the office because Melissa needed to help other customers and lock up the facility. I was ok with that, however, she didn't tell me that she was back. So I had waited outside longer than I needed to, and I already had tons of errands to run before the commuter traffic was going to start. The other thing was the other Public Storage location (near the airport) didn't get all the paperwork faxed to them; Melissa had forgotten to fax the addendum and the receipt. I then had to fax them myself; for some reason, there was an error, and I had spent 1.5 hours trying to send the fax from home, before giving up. I then put the documents in the mail. Melissa was really nice, but things could have run more smoothly. I'm at least happy that I was able to secure the storage spot. read more

They offer great discounts both for the first month and ongoing. Easy access, great staff (especiall Sharon and the rest as well), and when they couldn't find my friend a spot they called around to all the other ones to help.
