A Positive Driving Experience - Driving Schools Near Me

My daughter (16) did her six hours of driving instruction before her DMV driving test with A Positive. Julio was much better at teaching her driving than I am! After each lesson, I noticed she was more confident and a better driver. Diondre (the owner) was always very responsive to texts and emails. Their scheduling system is really easy to use. They send a report card after each lesson to let me know what she needs to work on. All that to say, she passed her driver's test today!!! Thank you, Diondre, Julio and Luis! read more

I just passed my drivers license test today with the help of Julio!! I was very nervous and anxious to begin the process of driving but Julio was an amazing teacher and I ended up passing! I couldn't thank him enough for giving me courage and always believing in me. I 100% recommend this school and Julio as an instructor. He will answer all your questions/concerns and will give you feedback. Thank you Julio and this school for everything. I'll never for get this experience. read more

I took classes with Diondre and I can confirm truth in advertising - it was an absolutely positive driving experience! I have never driven a car before in my life, so Diondre started with the basics and was very patient and consistent in his explanations. I would definitely recommend him as an instructor for learners of all ages. Needless to say I successfully passed my behind the wheel test at first attempt and am now driving confidently. Thank you Diondre!! read more

Just finished my first lesson with Luis and it was a great experience! I had first scheduled a lesson a couple months ago, but had to cancel due to a family emergency. Diondre was very accommodating with letting me reschedule, and I finally had the first lesson today. I had gotten my license years ago but then moved to cities that didn't need cars, so I haven't driven in a long time. Luis was really thorough with explaining the basics of maintaining a car and did a great job with making me feel comfortable behind the wheel. When I had questions or was unsure, he was patient and made sure I understood the things I was doing right or needed to work on more. I'm definitely more confident driving now and look forward to more lessons! read more

After procrastinating getting my driver's license due to driving anxiety, I finally chose APDEDS for lessons after researching different schools and I'm so glad I did. I had all three 3 lessons with Phillip, who was incredibly patient, explained things well, and created a comfortable environment so I wouldn't feel as nervous driving. On test day, Diondre was the one who accompanied me to the DMV and was great. He calmed my nerves a lot before the test and I ended up passing! Really happy I picked APDEDS, thanks for everything! read more

My 18-year-old took 3 2-hour lessons with APDED, and it was a good experience. It was easy for me to sign up and schedule online. The teachers picked him up right at home, so it makes it so easy to schedule. The teachers were helpful, kind, and considerate. I definitely recommend them! It was a much better experience than what we went through years ago with AAA driver's ed. read more

I paid for lessons for my son at another driving school originally, but after his lessons they claimed he'd have to wait a couple months to get a DMV appointment. I didn't want my son to get rusty so while he waited for the DMV app. I purchased lessons from A Positive Driving Experience (less expensive). I wish I had gone straight to them. Not only was Diondre very professional and courteous, but he always responded very quickly to any email I sent. When my son did not pass his behind the wheel test, instead of trying to schedule a new test with the first school, I went through A Positive Driving Experience and got a new DMV appointment for much sooner than if I had tried to schedule through the first (very popular) school. Maybe because A Positive Driving Experience is a smaller company, they are more attentive and value their clients more (at least it seemed that way). When my daughter needs driving lessons in the next 8 months or so, I will go directly to A Positive Driving Experience. read more

I have been trying to get my license since 2019, but given time restraints, finances, and the pandemic, it wasn't until this year that I finally decided to take up driving lessons again. I'd been out of practice for awhile so driving had always made me nervous but after these lessons, I'm happy to say that with APDEDS, I'm a lot more confident behind the wheel and I'm an officially licensed driver! None of which would've been possible without the help of Diondre whose patience, organization, and dedication motivated me to do so. Coming from someone who has tried driving school before and didn't have the best experience, I really appreciated Diondre's calm and positive attitude and that each session was carefully planned so you definitely learn a lot with the time you're given. I was also grateful that after each lesson I was sent a progress report, which helped me practice outside of the lessons too! Overall, I had an awesome experience and highly recommend APDEDS to anyone who's new to driving, a late bloomer or those who have started but have been anxious about getting behind the wheel again. Regardless of how you got here, this is the place to go if you are serious about learning to drive and getting that license! :) read more

Had an amazing experience! As someone who was so scared of driving and to step in a car in general I felt really grateful for my instructor Julio who made the experience so easy! Julio made me feel super comfortable if I made a mistake or didn't know some things on the road. I only had him for a few days (I believe 3) and on the third day I took my test and passed. He was super friendly, patient, and taught me so much so quickly! There are so many small details I also didn't know about the driving test that was making me fail before I reached out to a driving school and I couldn't understand why and Julio taught me all the different intricacies/tips the dmv test instructors look for or could mark you off on. I would recommend him because I was really having trouble passing the test and he really taught me how to drive in such a natural/organic way in such a small period of time! I never felt pressured and the whole experience made me feel more confident/trusting in myself on the road. It was also super fun! Diondre was also professional and super on top of helping me adjust my schedule which was awesome. Thanks guys! read more

Diondre is the nicest driving instructor ever! I have been to a couple of driving schools before this and APDEDS was the most thorough and the best experience overall. Diondre made sure to go through all the details from day one. He also gives you a detailed report after every lesson, which were very helpful. He will make you feel super comfortable after every lesson that driving no longer becomes a nerve racking experience!! I took my driving test today with Diondre and I passed. Yup, this place is great. Great response time, great communication, happy to help with challenging schedules with a college student and pleasant and professional every single time. The text and email reminders for appts is wonderful. Our instructor, Julio, was amazing. Calm, patient, everything my very very nervous / terrified new driver needed. The extra class to drive the course was everything and totally worth the money, I would highly recommend it. They scheduled the driving test, stood in line with her, handled everything. This was the more than I had hoped for. I can't recommend them more. read more

WONDERFUL!!! I trusted him with my son and I am a very protective mother. He is very responsible and always on time. I like the fact that he sends me a report about the improvements and what they practice. That helped me to strengthen his weakness while driving with me. I am planning to hire him to do highways too :) I highly recommend him if you need a driving instructor for you or for your teen. read more

This is a late review BUT....Diondre was absolutely amazing. I was completely petrified of driving but he made me comfortable behind the wheel. He made everything so easy to learn & he was always very patient. HE IS THE BEST DRIVING INSTRUCTOR EVER....Honestly. read more

I wanted to update my review after having completed the third and final lesson. My daughter had two different instructors, one of them being Josue. Both instructors were great! I believe one time they were early, and once they were late, but they were always nothing but kind, respectful, professional, and communicative. I think when it comes to something as important as a driving lesson, it's probably best to be flexible and schedule it when your child (or the parent) does not have a time crunch. I certainly wouldn't want my child or the instructor to be stressed, just before getting behind the wheel for a lesson. Still impressed by APDEDS and still singing it's praises to all of my friends! read more

Diondre was the best instructor to a very hesitant driver! My son has been very nervous about driving, and Diondre gave him confidence to get behind the wheel. Highly recommend him. read more

They are really fantastic, I got my 3 lessons with Julio and I have to say he is the best instructor I've had. He was so patient and calm with me. I'm pretty sure he got tired of me asking him questions all the time lol. But he helped me out a lot to learn to drive and avoid mistakes. I also want to thank Diondre for setting up the times and dates for my lessons. Having Julio was fantastic and I was lucky enough to have him for my 3 lessons. Julio and Diondre are class acts. I'm super thankful for both of them. read more

This experience was better than I could have imagined! I already have a license but have always been terrified of driving and hadn't driven in about 6 years. I figured it was time to overcome that fear and I thought classes would be the best. Spoke with multiple schools but felt at such ease when speaking to Diondre. He was very informative and communicative. Big shout out to Julio for being an incredible instructor! His calm demeanor mixed with his knowledge of driving and rules of the road made for great lessons every time. I feel so confident in my driving and I can't recommend Julio enough! read more

Hands-down, the best value in terms of amazing coaching and tactful advice. You can look at the popular providers like Drivers Ed Direct or Click2Drive, but you will not find a better 6 hour+ package than from APDEDS. Mr. Bell's driving lessons are thorough yet practical in approach. His calm tone and non-condescending manner will have your driving confidence go up while having a ton of fun. I can recall so many times when we would share details of our lives or when he would crack a subtle joke that had me laughing for minutes on end (while ensuring the safety of the vehicle, of course). Since I normally drive a 2015 Prius, the instruction car felt right at home with an additional instructor brake pedal on the passenger side. I cannot elaborate enough on the quality of coaching you will receive. From the useful acronyms to the practical visual cues, you can rest assure that you are in good hands. As a bonus, you receive a driving report after each lesson that detail your strengths and weaknesses as a driver in preparation for a behind-the-wheel test. If you want to become a smarter, safer, and better driver look nowhere else than APDEDS. Thank you, Mr. Bell! read more

Best driving teacher ever! Super professional. Diondre makes reports at the end of every lesson about your strengths and weaknesses and what you need to work on and practice. Diondre was always super calm and I felt safe driving on the big street even tough I was nervous. After six hours of driving lessons with Diondre my driving confidence increased tremendously. Now I feel super confident on the road. I took my license test today and I passed my first try with only 1 error!! I had a wonderful experience with Mr. Bell! I was starting to lose hope in ever overcoming my driving anxiety, but Mr. Bell gave me tips that made me not only a confident driver, but also a safe one. His coaching background is apparent in how he approaches his lessons. You literally feel like you are part of his team, and he wants the best for you, and not just your money. Apart from his impeccable teaching skills, he has astounding customer service skills. I cancelled a scheduled lesson with very little notice, and he gladly rescheduled without any fuss. I thought I lost those two hours. He also remained available to me for any questions I had post my lessons. I explained to him what my commute would be like, and he took time to come up with some route ideas for me. If you are a late bloomer like me, or a parent with nervous teenager, do not hesitate to give Mr. Bell a call. You will not regret it! Thank you Mr. Diondre Bell. :) read more
