After spending hours on the shoulder just shy of the Sturbridge exit, my car was towed to a nearby hotel. I told the tow truck driver how much places in the area wanted to charge to repair my car, and he told me about Edward's. He told me to call there and ask for Rodney. He said that Rodney would take care of me...and that Rodney did! I spoke to Rodney about the problem with my car. He said that he would have to see the car to verify the part that needed to be replaced. I asked him if I could send him a picture of the broken part, and he agreed. So I sent him a picture of the broken part. Once he received it, he told me he would order the part and have it waiting for me. He offered to take me back to the hotel while the car was being repaired. Along with that, he said he would pick me up once the repair was completed. The car was towed to his shop, and he quickly started the repair. During the repair, we talked, and he was very supportive, and understanding. The car was completed at a cost I thought was fair. We then talked briefly, shook hands, and I was on my way. Rodney was an awesome person! I would definitely have my vehicle serviced by Edward's again.

My check engine light came on and my motor began to act up when I shifted into lower gears. My mother always brought her vehicles here for inspections and no one in my family likes Jacksons auto body in town. I brought it in and they told me they were going to change out the coils in my Pistons and change the wires on the spark plugs (which they had already done when I brought my car in for a tune up months prior and they tried to charge me for). So I picked up my car and drove home and when I shut the car off all of the oil in the engine drained into my driveway because their mechanic crimped the valve cover and rather than fixing it he let me drive home and hope nothing would happen. So had the car towed back because I wasn't going to put oil back in my car to have it leak on the way there. They fixed the issue they created and offered me a free oil change certificate (like I was going to come back) and I brought my car to an authorized dealer of my vehicle. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

My back-up mechanic, as I needed an state inspection sticker was "Garv's" in Holyoke. After over a week, I was charged over $1800 for two front exhaust pipes, and a catalytic converter. Another $450 bucks for new plugs and an oil change. Got the vehicle back WITHOUT a new muffler, no sticker, and a terrible misfire. Brought it to my local "Monroe", ... after discussion they stated the 'cat' was placed wrong, due to the seams running vertical instead of horizontal. Another 430 for the muffler install. Due the math, I only paid $1150 for this vehicle. Brought it to "E&G" for diagnostic, ... within a day they found the problem, bad coils, one rusted and split, the other also split. What did "Garvulenski's" miss, ... the OBVIOUS! "E&G" found the problem along with a few others, supplied a full report WITH PHOTOS to my home computer for review. The repairs were done for under 1800 bucks, my Saturn runs like new. So what did I get from "Garv's", a headache. I'm now sold on E&G for ALL of my future needs. Brian even set upa ride to get me back home after the drop off of my vehicle. Friendly people, professional, communicate with updates, and entertaining to boot. Very unfortunate experience at E & G Auto. This story begins…read morewith Brake fluid leaking from my car and my 2012 Subaru Outback. I check the calipers and there is no fluid leaking so I must assume that its either coming the Master Cylinder or the lines underneath the heat shield. I am skilled enough to do most break work myself, but have no lift, therefore making breaklines near impossible for me to complete. I bring it in Friday 7/7. Come monday (7/10) I get a phone call from Brian telling me that one of my bleeder screws on my calipers is leaking and wont stop, they tried another screw but it is still leaking and therefore he caliper needs to be replaced and that I would be unable to take the car off the lot due to the loss of the use of the breaks. I ask Brian if the snapped the screw and she said no, I then ask him if they stripped the threads on the bleed screw from overtightining and Brian says no, everything is fine it just leaks. This is when I let him know that the caliper is only 9 MONTHS OLD, and that his garage has been thre only garage who serviced those breaks and that I had no leaks until last month. I let him know my feelings that I believe they have damaged the screw during the bleeding process and that I want to see the parts when I come to pick up the car. He tells me that I dont understand what I am talking about and that it is just a defective part. I tell them to fix it so I can leave the garage which almost doubles the initial cost of service. Brian also let me know that the car was first priority and that I would be able to pick it up mid day. He then calls me later and lets me know that the simple job has not been done. I let him know I will have to pick it up 7/12. So coming back from my trip I show up on 7/12 to pick up my car. Before I pay for anything I let Brian know that I want to inspect the old Caliper. We walk back in the garage and the bleeder screw is screwed into the caliper all the way, I unscrew it and inspect it and as I suspected the threads are completely destroyed and some of the metal from the threads are sitting on the receiving end of the seat which is causeing the problem as the area needs to remain clean and flush in order to create the seal. I explained to Brian, that its not the threads that create the Seal of a bleeder screw but the seat, and that the stripped threads have destroyed the seat, rendering the caliper useless. Brian was Shocked, he began to studder and mumble that this and said that E/G didnt do it and was not responsible. They allow me to inspect the car and I ask the technician what happened. He let me know that he cut back the brake lines and fixed the leak from the rear line opposite side of the affected caliper. He then said while bleeding the system he shut the bleeder screw it was still was leaking. The he said "I tried to tighten the screw some more but it wouldnt work" I knew this was the problem and that act of overtightening cause the damage as those screws are not designed to be cranked. This part is entered into the repair report. The proper procedure would be to remove the screw, inspect the seat, and attempt to clean any corrosion or debris that has gotten in the way of the seat to create the seal. NEVER OVERTIGHTEN. I then return to the office with Brian and say that we have a dispute. My claim is that they have damaged the caliper and that I do not want to pay for that portion. He Disagrees and says he "Stands by his technician." and would be unwilling to make things right with me. I asked him to seperate the jobs so I can have seperate transactions, Brian gave me the hardest time about this, heather the receptionist was trying to to walk him through it and he shushed her. Brian went in the back and I asked about the owner Eric and Heather said he doesnt deal with customers. This whole interaction was all recorded if Eric wants to review. Since i see him responding to these posts. It is sad that there was no resolution whatsover. All that needed to happen was for them to own the mistake and comp me for the caliper and labor of the caliper, E/G would have still made some money from my brake line job and I would have been a customer for life.

I'm about to put a ding in that score. I went here over my usual guy because I'm a layman and thought maybe brakes required a special skillset. I wanted to get it done right. I brought it in and was told the brake pads- or whatever- are worn down and are pretty much just metal on metal, in the front wheels. The rear brakes aren't great but I could put those off for now. I was told it would cost $550, and that that would mostly be in parts. I grimaced and took the hit. A week later, my brakes aren't working so well. Something about air in the line, everyone tells me, because the pedal depresses almost entirely to the floor before I get any braking traction. I call the shop and describe it. The guy tells me that doesn't sound like air in the line at all, it sounds like the... something, I forget, and it'll need replacing and lots of work. At this point I start to see what's going on here. I say "I'll think about it" and hang up. I brought the car to my usual guy. He says Arc Garage did a crap job and didn't reconnect the hoses correctly and sprayed (something) on the (something), which I was made to believe was a bad move. He asked what they charged and I told him, and he said "Oh, you got ripped off so bad. Oh wow. That was a $200 job." He then told me the fix he'd just done was $50 and to come and get it. I won't be making this mistake again. Also, what the hell Yelp, please don't lead me astray like that.

The next morning, we were facing a seven hour drive to Buffalo, and we didn't want to get on the road without knowing what was wrong with our transmission. So...we were in an unfamiliar town with vehicle troubles that we needed fixed in a hurry. Usually, this is a recipe for getting price gouged, but this was not the case at Northampton Transmission. After calling around, we found these guys, and explained our situation. They told us, "we're backed up today, but bring it in and we'll get our computer hooked up and let you know what we can do." We pulled into their garage around 11. They were telling the truth about being backed up; every lift was occupied, and there were many more vehicles awaiting service in the lot. Nevertheless, they diagnosed the problem, bumped us in line (they even took another vehicle off the lift that was halfway repaired), and took care of our issue. We were back on the road by 1pm. The entire time, they were totally respectful and easygoing.
