Came here to get my craftsman lawn mower to get checked out, we purchased it brand new and after a couple of uses it stopped working. After about a week in the shop they called me back and had my mower up and running. Total cost was about 80 dollars with 35 dollars put in for a deposit. Got my mower back and up and running in about a week and a half so had no complaints. Service was quick and easy! Will bring my items back if something else happens (lets hope it doesn't) read more

Well now I know why they have such a bad review here. I have gotten work from them before and I guess I got to give them credit for fixing an item but you are only as good as your experiences and so my second time here to come and pick up an item, I waited 10 minutes until I just walked out. I walked in to pick up an item that they called me and told me it is ready. I walk in and a guy had just jumped out of his truck right before me so unfortunately he gets to be first, the guy at the counter says I'll be with you while he's working with someone else, because of smartphones yes I can let the 8 minutes, the 9 minutes past and then I look down and realize I am at 10 minutes plus. Now they didn't say anything to me during that time, like hey another minute. So I left and I will come back and pick up my chainsaw but this is ridiculous. Here's what you got to do when it comes to customer service if you guys really care about your Google and your Yelp review rating, if the customer you are helping has taken 10 minutes and you think that it is going to take longer, address me and find out what it is that I need perhaps mine will take 30 seconds, take the $18 that I owe you, give me my chainsaw and get me out of there. Focusing in on just the one customer in front of you allows this review, allows my situation to happen. I did hear other people in the back and the guy at front at a minimum should have called for help. I've worked across different industries and customer service has been included in that I can tell you if you told a customer who saw me waiting for 10 minutes behind them, give me a couple seconds to get this guy out of here and then we will finish with you especially since it looks like yours may take another 10 or 15 minutes. That did not happen, no I don't want to talk to a manager you guys don't have to try to reach out to me after the fact, you already know that your Yelp rating is a one star I'm pretty sure you should work to improve that and this kind of thing would not happen. read more

I took my weed eater in to get a tune up and you have to put down $50 just to get them to take it for service. Total cost to tune up a weed-eater was $163 add a spool and total went to $193. What a rip and an outrageous some of money for a tune up and a new head. I was told when I brought my Echo in that cost would be around $100-125 which included the new spool. I could have bought a new weed eater for the price from them for about $50 more. And no one called to let me know that it would be an additional $140 just to do a tune up (weed eater head was $27). No common courtesy to let me know what the total cost would be. I would not have authorized the service and I would have bought a new weed eater from them. - note I did get a call from the owner / manager who did apologize and offered me a $118 credit on any new pc of equipment I purchase in the future. Owner / manager said his staff should have called me to let me know the price before the work was started and he said for what they charged me they did to much work on it. read more

Purchased new pole saw. Took it home and saw not turning. Went back and "it was assembled incorrectly ". Repaired and worked fine for 4 heavy use days. Pole loosened again and took back (6 months after purchase). Repaired again but I have to pay for service as "not under warranty" "wasn't our fault" even though everyone admits was related to first disassembly. Yes you can buy your Stihl, Echo etc... products here but they do not stand behind them. I'm trying to support local businesses but when they treat you worse than the "big chains" might as well go there. Felt bad for guy at cash register as he knew I was "right" but "manager" made him deal with me. Lesson learned for both of us. read more

I went in with a gas chain saw with four problems: The starter rope wouldn't retract, the choke mechanism didn't work properly, the idle speed wasn't consistent, and it was missing a couple of Echo-specific screws so some of the plastic body was loose. The day after I I brought it in I got a call saying it was fixed, so I came over to pick it up. I paid an additional $40 on top of my $35 deposit only to find that NOTHING was fixed. So I left it. A couple of weeks later it was supposedly ready, so I came back again and picked it up. Of the four problems it had, which were written down when I dropped it off, only the starter rope retraction problem was fixed. The other problems didn't even appear to shown up on the radar of the person who did the work. Nice folks, but not really competent with chain saw repairs, apparently. read more

So, I read through all the reviews, and it appears that up until 2017, this place wasn't doing too well from a customer-perspective. Apparently, that has changed. I am very pleased in the following areas: 1. Communication - good two-way communication about my options and expectations 2. Timeliness - mower was in and out on the same day 3. Effectiveness - mower runs like new 4. Customer Friendly - Megan in particular was very good as a customer advocate, explaining warranty options and working directly with manufacturer on my behalf. If there were any option to leave no stars, this would be the place to earn that distinction. Worst customer service of any business I have dealt with in a very long time. Not sure if I can use the word criminal, but it sure seems that way to me. Maybe the worst experience ever. I dropped a mower off here in November of 2019. It was a mower we use on a rural property that we had purchased new parts for (from A-plus) and attempted to repair ourselves. After still having issues getting it to start, I took it to A- plus. I paid a $35 deposit and was told I would be contacted in a few days when they had a chance to diagnose it. Several weeks went by and I never heard back. It was winter and we did not need it right away, so I was patient and waited. After about 3 months, I called in February and asked about the status. I was put on hold for an insane amount of time and I eventually hung up. I called again a couple of weeks later and got the same - put on hold and I eventually hung up. I tried calling again, was told someone would call me back with an answer on the mower, and guess what........no call ever came. By then I figured they had probably sold the mower and were dodging me. My brother then called and inquired about the mower and was told after waiting for some time on hold that the mower had been diagnosed as having no compression and was not repairable but that they could not find it and would call back when they did. No call....Ever. Surprised?....I wasn't. The pandemic then rolled into town and I did not try calling again until mid June. So, just to re-cap....7 months had now gone by with no word on my mower. I decided to try once again and called and was surprised to get a very helpful lady on the phone who attempted unsuccessfully to locate the mower. She told me she would call back when they found it. She called back about 20 minutes later and said that their records showed that I signed it out the day after my brother's phone call in March. I explained that there must be some mistake because neither I nor anyone I know had picked up the mower. She said "we show you signed it out" and that it was not there. Although this is exactly what I was expecting after 7 months of BS and run-around, I was understandably furious. I asked to speak to the manager or owner and was placed with the manager. I once again explained the entire 7 month saga to him repeatedly and all he could say was "we show you signed it out". I asked who noted that in their records and was told that nobody that was working there in March was still employed and everyone was new so he could not tell me. I asked to speak to the owner and was of course told that he was not in and they did not know when he would be. I asked him to have the manager call me and he said he would pass that along. I asked what they could do to compensate me for the theft of my parts and mower and he said that was up to the owner. Another month has passed and still no call from the owner. So, let's do the math:. I'm out a 6.5 HP Craftsman mower that was in pretty good condition that I would assign a value of 125.00, I'm out 37.00 worth of new parts, and the 35.00 deposit and have nothing to show for it. So, I'm out just shy of $200, have been through endless frustration, and have nothing to show for it except a resolve to never recommend this place to anyone. I have no idea what my recourse is at this point, but do not expect to ever hear from anyone. Do yourself a favor, save yourself the frustration and and go elsewhere. There is a great guy I have since found in Spicewood. If I had gone to him to begin with, I would have an awesome running mower and not be in the position I'm in now. My Honda self propelled push mower seemed to bog down when I was scalping my yard this year. It started easily after a couple of pulls and it idled smoothly. I figured it had to be something internally. I took it in and paid my 50 dollars diagnostic fee. They called a few days later to say it was ready. They said the carburetor was clogged and couldn't be cleaned so they put a new one and replace to spark plug and also said they drained the gas and put new gas in the tank. I couldn't believe that the carburetor was clogged since it started so easily and idled so smoothly but accepted their diagnosis and paid an additional 120 dollars. I took it home and the next morning it would not start after pulling it some 20 time. They said to bring it back and they then told me the gas had water in it. That didn't make any sense since they had put the fuel in it. I started it before I picked it up and it started so figured it was fixed. A few days later I decided to mow and again it would not start. I put some starting fluid in the carburetor and it fired up immediately. I mowed and decided to do some additional mowing in the afternoon. Well, it would not start. Again I used starting fluid and it started up. After mowing I disengaged the blade and it started shaking as if it was comin apart. I adjusted the carb and it settled down. Since it's been about a couple of weeks over the terrible 14 day warranty, they told me there was nothing they could do about it. I don't thing I would have taken it back anyway. They don't seem to know what they're doing. I brought it in for bogging down and I'm sure they didn't fix that. Now I have a lawnmower that won't run which I never had before. read more

Use these people!!! I have a 10 yr old echo line trimmer and it was struggling to run well. I had replaced the fuel line myself and then took it to them. Their team asked me if I had the fuel lines right and then switched them for me. It ran much better but didnt run at peak performance. They suggested a carb rebuild kit for 65 bucks plus labor. I picked it up 3 days later and it ran like it was new. Out the door was around 80-85 bucks. That repair saved me the cost of buying a new unit for over $300.00! They are quick, professional and helpful. This is a place that many professionals use to maintain the equipment used to make a living. That speak volumes. As a side note, they also provide propane filling services. Better price and they provide a true full tank. Local shops (grocery, home improvement, gas stations) provide tanks that are 50-60% full and charge twice as much. I will be using these guys for life and I recommend you do it too! read more

took my zero turn mower in to have drive belt replaced. after one month their they call and told me I needed a new carb it was very hard to get and cost over 300.00 looked it up on amazon and it ran 30.00 went by and picked up my mower. very bad people. no customer service . they lie to you about their service of which they have none. please do not use them. they will cheat you. I would rate them lower than 1 star if there was that option. I took my lawn mower to them. They told me it would be about 3 weeks. I didn't like it but l said ok. I called at the end of the 4th week to see how it was going. They hadn't looked at it yet. They called a week later with a quote of $125. I told them ok. 2 weeks later I called to check on it. They said the part came in 4 days before, he said to call the next day. He was going to check on it to see why it had not been repaired. After 8 weeks and $25 more than I was told l picked it up. I got it home and the electric start wouldn't work.( it did when i took it in) i called them, they said to bring it back which i did. I was told they would put it up next. 8 days later they hadn't even looked at it. I picked it up took it to someone else that fixed the problem in 10 minutes. They took upon themselves to proceed to repair it without getting back to me to inform me. That it was going to cost way more than the 35 dollars. These guys are nothing but thieves! I took my riding mower because it would not start - cost? $460. After two weeks, stopped running. Took it back, this time they replaced battery - cost? $110. After another 2 weeks it stopped running again! This time they figured it was starter and wanted $260 just for part! I wrote down part # and found a bunch of brand new solenoid with Starter for $60. Ordered part; watched YouTube video. Installed Part myself. Total cost parts and labor? $60.00! I wouldn't take anything to A-Plus. They rob women, they have lousy attitudes and act like they're doing you a favor just talking to you. I wish I'd never gone there in the first place. read more

Really frustrating experience with this business. I dropped my mower off to get worked on and was told it would be a 2 week turnaround time. The next morning I called in and told them I would rather purchase a new mower instead of investing more repairs into the old one. I was told that would be fine as they hadn't had a chance to look at my mower yet. I arrived at the shop less than an hour later and they had gone ahead and repaired my old mower. There was no paperwork so no one could tell me what work had been done or what was wrong with it. I had already purchased the new mower over the phone with them so I asked them to reimburse the charge. I was assured it would be taken care of immediately. A week later my credit card had only been refunded for less than half of the purchase price of the new mower. After an hour and a half on the phone with them, they refused to reimburse the total cost of the new mower and still could not give me an answer as to what happened with my old mower. They have no idea what the issues were, and no idea how much time was spent on it. So instead of reimbursing me for the new mower and sending me an invoice for the cost of the repairs, they just withheld over half of the cost of the new mower as payment. Extremely disappointed in the service and will never recommend to anyone in the community. They made mistakes and miscommunicated terribly, and I ended up being the responsible party. I took my Troy Bilt lawnmower to A Plus after I could not get it to start. It took them one day to identify the issue and they called me with an estimate for approval before any repairs were done. I took them my mower 4/28/18 and they still hadn't gotten to it by 6/12/18 and charged 35 dollars for leaving it and I told them itwas a transmission problem. I took my old Echo CS3450 chain saw to this shop for repair when it wouldn't start. Common problem, can be caused by old fuel, especially with ethanol. They charged $130 to install a standard tune-up kit ($21 retail) and clean out the fuel system. When I used it, it died and refused to start after it was hot. Took it back, they insisted it was bad fuel and charged me another $35 to clean it out again. Same result, even with new $7/qt fuel, saw wouldn't idle right or start. I gave up and took it to someone else who determined that the carburetor needed to be rebuilt, and the internal fuel screens were plugged, causing flooding. The A+ repair job was incompetent, and they did not listen to me when I told them that it was NOT the fuel. Stay away. read more

After all the crummy reviews I almost didn't take my Honda mower here. The repair was completed in 2 weeks, they called and said they need Honda's blessing because it was a warranty case. Four days later they called me and said it is ready. I saw many professional lawn care folks on my two visits. They have to be doing something right or the pros wouldn't give them their business. The issue the company has is communicating with clients in a timely manner and as promised if they can clear up the communications issues and follow dates they give customers, this business could be quite good. A A My recent experience with this business has been terrible and I will NEVER go back to this place Ever again. These folks never return your calls or let you know the status of your machine. They overcharge significantly over the estimate amount that they originally provided . They lose parts on the machine and when you tell them that the part was there when the machine was left there originally, they basically call you a liar or give you some outrages reason why the part may be missing (in the end they did provided the missing part). My overall assessment of dealing with these folks is that once they have your machine, you are at their mercy and there is nothing you can do about it unless you want to engage in legal action which the amount of legal fees would be much more costly. So if you read this review take note, stay as far away as possible from these folks, you will regret it later if you don't! read more

I took my Honda lawn mower in get repaired. The mower was purchased on March 17, 2011. The lawn mower would start but when you would engage the blades it would sputter and die. The lawn mower sat in a shed for a year because I live in Central Texas and the worst drought in 100 years began in April 2011 and lasted until January 2012. Tried to start it January 30, 2012 - no go. I took it in to A+ Outdoor Equipment for warranty work. They claimed there was water in the gas line and the carburetor was dirty - neither covered by warranty - cost $60. Four weeks later... lawn mower still not fixed. The carburetor needs to be replaced. Part on back order. Meanwhile, the lawn looks like the Amazon River Basin due to an influx of late winter rain. I'm still waiting. read more

My old self propelled lawn mower needed maintenance early Feb. I called company and spoke to manager Dennis Tantalo. He told me basic maintenance would be $35.00 and it would take 24- 48 hours. O.K. Fine. A week goes by and I don't hear from them. I call and guy says yeah lawn mower is ready to be picked up and that there is a balance of $95.34 due. What? He said it needed 2 new back wheels which would be additional $40.00 plus. Nobody called me to tell me that this additional part would be needed and ask for my approval which is a basic business courtesy that was not followed. Further, they have a labor charge that is $70.00 per hour. This labor charge was never given me when lawn mower was brought in. I was told that their labor fees are lowest in area. Lucky me!...The kicker is they charged additional $10.00 for a champion spark plug and air filter. Shouldn't this be included in the basis $35.00 maintenance fee? I would think so. So my total charges were $130.54 for a nearly 12 year old basic craftsman push lawn mower. While the company name is A PLUS.......my experience with them can hardly be rated A PLUS..... I had my lawn mower repaired due to not starting from sitting for a year. The quote was $65 and the final bill was $80.75. I asked why and was told they had to rebuild the carburetor twice. I was never called and I do not understand why the customer should pay for a 2nd rebuild. It took these people 26 days to fix a lawn mower that had gas in it over the winter. When I called they said they just fixed it that day. It appears that someone is incompetent to take that long or for not calling once it is as done. I gave them more time than the 3 weeks they required. I have to agree with R.W. . I called these people to have my lawn tractor fixed; They needed to come pick it up and take it to their shop. I was told that a guy would come pick it up the next day. He didn't show up. After about two days, he still had not shown up, so I figured they just blew me off. So, I made other arrangements. Eight days later, this "85" year old guy shows up at my door, and stated that he was from A Plus Outdoor Power Equipment, and said he was there to pick up my riding mower. I brought my water pump to A-Plus Outdoor Equipment the first week in January because it would not pump water. They said it would be done in two weeks. I had to call them 1/26/12 & it had not been looked at. I received a call 2/13/12 that my pump was ready & the mechanic said he plugged it into an outlet & it came on with no issue. I paid $22.31 for this service & the pump with no issue still doesn't pump water. I have 6 gas powered Stile & Echo lawn equipment all need periodic service. A-Plus is closer & told me two weeks. I will drive further to McCoy's with my equipment. They say three weeks & it's done within the time they tell me. read more

By far the worst experience I've ever had with customer service the young blonde girl behind the counter rolled her eyes at me three times and snickered under her breath and not to mention the young man at the counter was more concerned about showing me his magic trick than he was about taking my information down!! I don't know what kind of establishment they run there but is by far the management I've experienced!!!A little over a week later I got my blower back and it has never run better! The mechanic I spoke to was extremely polite and called me sir several times if I did not personally meet the mechanic working on my equipment I would've never gone back!! The staff inside needs a lesson in customer service!! Don't take your mower to A-Plus Outdoor Power. I took my riding mower there for blade sharpening and the first time of use the blade came loose and almost caused major damage to my mower or my foot if it blew off. I paid them to help me repair my blower. They never did call me to tell me the status, (I finally called them to see about it) and they were unable to find the problem. In fact, they told me that the problem had been discovered and that I needed a new motor for my blower and it would cost almost the replacement value of the equipment. However, upon even a minimal inspection...it was clear to see that there was no real effort to repair the blower...the heads of the screws were still filled with dust and dirt where they stated they had removed said parts. I went home and disassembled the blower myself and discovered the problem to be a $2.55 part that I can order overnight for an additional cost of $5.93 for a grand total of $8.48! All in all, they charged me $45, never called me and then when I told them about my discovery, they told me they didn't believe me. they made me feel like a waste of their time, as if I had done something wrong. All I wanted was for my blower to be repaired. What was to them an inconvenience is my livelihood. I make my living with my tools and depend on them and the people I do business with to act in a professional manner. I was disappointed on every level. I own and operate a business and I am amazed they are still in business. Ordinarily, I am all for a little outfit and wen to them specifically because i was hoping for an old world experience where the customer's hard earned dollar means something.
