He engaged quickly, set up a time to come out to my house, spent time diagnosing the mower, and showed me the part that was broken. He didn't have the replacement on the truck and I'd told him I was comfortable replacing it myself, so we agreed for him to come back out and adjust it after I replaced the rocker arm. On the second trip, Ken worked on the mower for a while to keep it from running too fast and pointed out a couple things I'd done wrong when I rebuilt the engine. Turns out I was going to need to rebuild the motor again to fix the internal part that wasn't working right. I tried to pay him for the 2 trips and he said he couldn't accept payment since he didn't get it to a full running condition. I have now rebuilt it, gotten it running again, and reached out to Ken to adjust it. He gave me detailed instructions over e-mail to make the adjustments myself since he knows I'm handy, and has declined my 3rd attempt to pay him for his services...again since he says he didn't leave the mower fully functional. You don't see this level of integrity, honesty, and consideration out of many people these days. If Ken won't let me pay him, the most I can do is give him a 5* rating anywhere I can. Great guy, and I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone needing small engine repair.

The tech said that it was the slip clutch that was on the end of the shaft. There was no way it was the slip clutch when the entire shaft would quit turning, slip clutch and all, but an internal problem. They charged me to mis-diagnose the problem even though I had explained what was wrong. There is something that is not locking up inside of the tractor but I am leery of letting them work on the internal mechanism to properly fix the problem.

Took it to Black Cat, proprietor was friendly but just handed me a receipt saying I'd brought the tool in, no setting of expectations of the next step or how long it might take, so I had to ask. Answer was that he'd call me in a few days with an estimate. Eleven days later he called to say the saw was ready. I asked, what happened to calling me with an estimate? He said he thought he had. He couldn't snap it back into place, so he ordered a replacement part. Price for repair was $40 ($20 for part, $20 for labor). That's a good price, hard to imagine a labor price that low for anything, anywhere, so I'm certainly satisfied about that.

I drove 30 min to purchase it and they asked if i would like them to test out the unit to ensure everting worked? I said yes and this is one of the reasons I like punching from them is they register for warranty, test and i support local business. Unit fired up, during checked he said total was $600ish? I immediately said the price was $479.99 and their website shows that price and that was the price given when i called.
