What a fun and educational wine tasting by the lovely, enthusiastic and charming bartender, Crys!…read moreThanks to a really great deal via Groupon, you get tastings of seven different wines: white/red/one brut for two people for $45 including your choice of one white or red bottle to go. You get a card to rate each tasting w emojis, stars or numbers etc. My favorite was the Super Tuscan, as I prefer reds. (other Groupon options available.) This is my fourth wine tasting and it never gets old. I learned a little bit more about wine, wine making, etc. each time. The tasting room is quaint, comfortable clean and it's cool to see the wine barrels in the back creating that luscious liquid lol Many weekend nights offer live music/dancing for extended joviality among new friends. Dogs allowed a big bonus!! Free parking in lot.

Dear Yelpers, Some…read moremay say it's the wine talking...but stop #4 on day 3 of the wine tour was easily the best stop of the weekend! We had the pleasure of making it just in time and getting a personal lesson from the founder and wine expert Warner himself. It was basically a free wine tasting class filled with fun stories, interesting facts, and of course, great wine. Personally I was a fan of the Super Tuscan. My wife enjoyed the Cab Franc. But all of us Rosé haters LOVED the Touché Rosé. Talk about a fitting name. The small feel made this place stand out from all the other over-commercialized wineries and truly showed the beauty of unique and complex wines. Not to mention you can't beat the price!! Your friendly neighborhood wino

We had the date package and ate at the restaurant after. I recommend the pork schnitzel and pierogis. We ordered four shareables but weren't blown away by the butternut squash fondue and gougeres. Loved our hostess for the wine tasting, but wish there was more guidance on tasting notes and wine terminology. I'd recommend though to any wine lovers, I still learned a lot!

Chicago Winery prioritizes upscale and intimacy but their service is personable and friendly allowing you to feel right at home. On Wednesday they offer a Happy Hour special, $5 off a tasting and $10 wine by the glass. The server as extremely kind, and was able to offer me some suggestions based on my personal palate and wine interests. I landed on the Winemaker's Tasting, which included 4, one ounce pours, including Blancs de Blancs, Albarino, Barbera and Merlot. I paired the tasting with the a BYOB board. From their menu I picked the olives, Afterglow, and the Tempesta Guanciale. The server was educated on the wines was able to walk me through the tasting and pairings but gave me independence and autonomy to enjoy at my own leisure and pace. I highly enjoyed my visit and absolutely will be returning to dine in, as well as to get a winery tour!

This has been the week of unbelievable finds mostly due to total chance and a bit of luck and…read moremystery. I found myself in Rogers Park for two days for my daughter's freshman orientation at Loyola. Of course, my number one concern after the first day of seminars was to find somewhere awesome to eat that evening. After extensive searching throughout the day, I believed I had settled on somewhere to go... that is until the front desk attendant of my hotel handed me a sheet of recommended places to check out in the area. Normally, I will just explore and research on my own to figure out somewhere to go. Despite the many exciting choices nearby, of which I almost settled on Ethiopian or Cambodian, I stumbled on Le Piano; and my oh my, I couldn't be happier that I did. Looking at the listed provided by the hotel, Le Piano was in a small section titled "music, food, bar" and specifically labeled as jazz. Taking a minute to hit up their website, I found that night that Gerry Hundt, a blues artist I didn't know was going to be playing. My interest already now piqued, I rushed over to the menu, which is awash in wonderful sounding continental and French classics made local and fit for a jazz bar. The cocktail menu also matches, but is also incredibly extensive and has a very interesting Victorian flair. It was at this point I was sold, and booked a seat immediately to head out that evening. Arriving, I found this to be one of the coolest spaces I have ever been to for music. Styled perfectly with a dark Victorian-yet-jazzy flair, and intimate, my assigned seat was allowed to be changed to an amazingly worn leather loveseat, like something out of a noir film, with a single taper lighting my table. The bartender and my server made a point of giving me their names, which I believe were Chris and Steven, but I can't remember because my memory is Swiss cheese, but they were both amazing, talking with me and being completely engaged with me as a Chicago newbie. This doesn't even include the perfect sazerac and jasmine that Chris made to round out the artichoke fritters I ordered. The fritters were outstanding. Barely breaded and flash fried to perfection and one of the best fried dishes I've had in years, as I don't prefer that type of thing. Steven's recommendation was seriously on point. If a spot like this existed near me, I would be there weekly. If I lived in Chicago, Le Piano wouldn't be able to get rid of me. Don't pass on this place and get there now! Enjoy some wonderful music, legendary drinks, and outstanding food!

Had the cava brut rosé which was yummy and refreshing. Loved the ambiance and performance. One thing is that the website and menu made it seem like there was no cover on sundays, but it was actually $15. Not the end of the world but would've appreciated if that was more clear upfront, instead of getting charged on the bill at the end. Overall loved the venue and the performance, would totally come back!

The menu had a few more items than expected so we each got the Ilixr burger and split some Gruyère fries. The burger was decent, but a little pricey for a pretty basic à la carte burger. I also wasn't a huge fan of the sauce and probably should've asked for no pickles. The Gruyère fries were also nothing special. Luckily we got the giardiniera on the side because it was pretty spicy. There were 4-5 wines to choose from and we both really liked the ones we picked! Would go back next time for just the wine and maybe to buy something or go to an event to learn more about wine.

We enter the venue. No one greets us and it is fairly empty. We ask a woman who walks through the main space, "Are you all open?" She says "yes", but never breaks stride. Another woman walks into the main space, we ask "Do we seat ourselves?" She replies, "Yes, you can sit wherever you'd like, inside or outside", before walking off. 3. We seat ourselves and wait about 10min for the server to come to our table to water. She provides an overview of the meadery and prepares to leave. We stop her and ask to place an order for the cauliflower pizza in the photo . She replied, "Oh, we don't serve that anymore. We use regular frozen pizza dough now." Wow, just wow. Why circulate false advertisement on the website? We left without ordering anything.
