Had dinner at Lush last week and it was absolutely delicious. The scallops were perfectly cooked, juicy, flavorful, and fresh. I also had the steak, which was tender and full of flavor. My partner had the lamb burger and said it was excellent. The cocktails were a highlight as well. They even customized one for me and made it fresh without an ingredient I am allergic to, which I really appreciated. Great food, great drinks, and thoughtful service. Can't comment on the food but the sandwiches did look appetizing. According to their menu it's 1 dollar oysters Monday to Thursday all day until they run out. So I'm definitely going over during those days. The staff were kind and accommodating to my dog on the patio. Select glasses of wine can start around 10 dollars. There are some happy hour deals centered around drinks from glasses, wine flights, and sangria pitchers. As well as a taco Tuesday special. I went to Lush on December 18, 2024, to get my wife a bottle of wine as a Christmas present. As I walked in, the only person working at the time, Eric, was on his way out the door with someone else, I don't know why and I don't care. This was around 2:30 p.m. on a Wednesday, so it was nowhere near the place's 10 p.m. closing time. Also, it was obviously a week before Christmas, so it was a pretty strange move to leave the place completely unattended. Eric said to me, "Can I help you?!" sounding supremely annoyed at me for coming in the store. He actually sounded like Snagglepuss from the old Hanna-Barbera cartoons. From his tone, it really seemed like he viewed me as some sort of lower-class vagrant coming in his store when he needed to leave. I was wearing an L.L. Bean jacket, a polo shirt, new jeans from Dearborn Denim and clean, white Vans slip-ons, I was clean shaven and I'd just gotten a haircut that month at Sine Qua Non Salon in Lakeview, so I did not look like a homeless person. But yes please excuse me Eric for not wearing my ascot and smoking jacket to your store, which you were so intent on leaving in the middle of the day during the holidays. I browsed the store and after a while Eric returned, his business out on the street having apparently concluded. Against my better judgment, I opted to buy a bottle of wine not of my own selection but something they were displaying at point of sale, a Gassmann Pinot Gris Brandhurst 2010. As I was paying, I asked Eric if he could gift wrap the bottle, which is something they'd definitely done for me before at Lush. Eric just gruffly said, "No." No apology, no offer of a gift bag, nothing. Just no, I'm going to charge your card $36 and now get out of here and don't ever come in here and bother me again. The bottle of wine was disgusting. After opening it and tasting it, we just threw it out. I used to spend about $100 per visit at this place pretty frequently. I haven't been back since. I guess I'll never see Eric aka Snagglepuss again. read more

What better way to enjoy the first real day of spring than with a lovely glass of wine and delicious savory snack at Lush in Roscoe Village? Lush has always been known for its great wine selection, approachable and affordable options for beginners and connoisseurs alike. Prices per glass are quite reasonable, especially considering the unique options you're unlikely to find anywhere else in the city. I was perhaps even more impressed with the togarashi hummus, an excellent blend of balanced spices that were folded into perhaps the best hummus I've had in Chicago. When their patio is open (which it unfortunately was not today), you've got great sunlight and a very relaxed atmosphere. Inside, it's just okay, a somewhat cramped bar on one side (along with the shop) or a somewhat sparse dining room. Prices are certainly on the higher side (hummus + bread was nearly $20), and I agree with many reviewers that depending on who is working behind the bar service can be painfully slow and occasionally not the friendliest. But, if you're lucky enough to have Jeanne, you'll be in great hands - super friendly in knowledgeable, able to steer you towards a great experience. read more

I have been to Lush multiple times and always have a great experience. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the ambiance is very warm, and (most importantly) the wine selection is fabulous. When it's nice out, the outdoor patio is super lovely. I've sampled appetizers here before which were good, but last night was the first time I had a full dinner here, and it did not disappoint. My friend and I shared the baked goat cheese appetizer, which was huge and fabulous. I had the steak au poivre for my entree, which was freaking fantastic. The peppercorn sauce was out of this world. My only regret is that I didn't get the parmesan mashed potatoes to try as well. I also purchased a bottle of wine to take home. The value was amazing considering the quality and quantity of what I had. Love me some Lush anytime!! read more

We visited the first time during COVID-19 (June 2020). Limited menu, but was able to find an open table outside. The spicy duck fat popcorn was super tasty! I can not believe it took us two years to come here. My husband and I live a mile or two away and I drive by this storefront pretty regularly. We finally went last night and I loved it! On one side you have the store that sells wine, beer, some spirits. But you also have the room next door that has bar seating and tables that could probably seat about 40ish people. They have a small menu but what I LOVED was that you can go and pick out a bottle of wine in the store and drink it in the dining room. No corkage fee! We asked for a wine recommendation and ended up choosing a Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles. It was delicious. I wish I knew they served food before we got there, we ate dinner at home earlier in the evening. But as we were sitting there all of the aromas from the cook were wafting over and it all smelled amazing. It was a Friday night at around 9/10 and it wasn't packed. This is a really cool spot. I've been here a couple times now. The first time was precovid. The owner was SO helpful and knowledgeable about all the different types of wines they have. You tell him what you like and he'll give you many great options along with a ton of info about them. You can pick a bottle and take the rest home if you don't finish the bottle, which is super convenient!The owner was also just as helpful the 2nd time. But there was a dude who worked there who was def not as friendly and helpful as the owner that 2nd time we were there. Nevertheless, I'd def go back to support this cute wine bar. read more

I had been looking forward to going here for a long time. Unfortunately the service was not up to par. We asked basic questions about some of the flavor profiles of the red wine. Our server couldn't answer other than to tell me the wine was fresh. I'm not a wine snob. But some basic tasting notes like dry, fruity, etc should not be out of the norm for a waiter at a wine bar. Anyway my husband's wine stunk. Our waiter told us it was "our fault" and we "needed to unlearning what we know about wine." He didn't offer anything else or a way to make it right, whether we paid or not. That's BS and annoying to try to make it our fault for being 'too ignorant' to pick out a wine. If your server can't give a description other than "fresh" and your menu gives no guidance you've gotta work with your clients better than that. So disappointed. Will not be back. read more

Now that the prices have gone up (especially the food... $30+tax+tip for 5 micro-pieces of cheese!!! and $15 of corkage fee per bottle !!!) it's not really so worth it. On top of that, the food quality is going down seriously (one of the cheese was totally dried up, on top of being microscopic, the octopus was gummy, the crackers served with cheese are bland and dry/old - no, for $30, you won't even get fresh bread!). On the plus side, the staff is great, and there's always ssomeone ready to talk wines. So now, it's good for wine (with standard pricing - no more a good deal), but the food eperience was awful. The reason why it gets one star, because that, combined with price increase, is simply inacceptable. read more

I tried to order a dessert and they didn't have the ingredients to make it. BEWARE they are now charging at $10 corking fee on every bottle of wine you buy from them when you dine in. I asked when this started and the manger said it's an extra charge because of Covid. While not from this area, whenever I am up visiting I try to make it in here to find something solid. Vast selection of good wines, spirits, and a fair cooler of 22s. I come in for the whiskey... whenever I've had questions or a requested recommendation the staff has never fell short. While they had run out of Whistle Pig Boss Hog when I was here last, the gentleman recommended I try Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea. He explained the difference in procedure, aging, and it sounded worth while. When I got back to the place I was staying and tried it.... he wasn't wrong. It easily ranks top 5 on best whiskey / bourbon I've had in my life. Any questions while there? Just ask! The staff really knows their shit. read more

Right away, Mr. Know-It-All (in the best of ways) mentioned that Owen & Engine serves it on draft. Beer from this Kansas City brewery is notoriously hard to locate here in Chicago, and the mister nailed its mysterious whereabouts. Besides a fantastic selection of beer, Lush Wine delivers on their very name. Of course they serve vino justice! And not just the high-end stuff, either: There's a bottle in everyone's price range at Lush. Thanks for keeping me in my best (lushful) form. Fantastic selection of wines for reasonable prices! I needed a bottle of Prosecco for a friend's 30th birthday party celebration that would fit my budget and the knowledgable sales associate who helped me recommended the perfect bottle. Not only did the bottle she recommed fit my budget but I got to sample it before I bought and she even gift wrapped it for me as well. Total score! My girlfriends threw my Bridal Shower here this past weekend. It was absolutely beautiful. The wines were perfect, they printed out sheets of paper with all the wines/champagne that we had, where they were from and what they paired well with. The top of it said congratulations to me and the date. They also let us go over by an hour and a half. The store remained open so others could come in and shop but we barely noticed them.
