This was my first time visiting Lynfred, and the outside immediately caught my eye. The setting is really charming as you drive in alongside the venue. We went on a Saturday and had a great time. We did a tasting and gravitated toward the sweeter wines, which were enjoyable. We ended up purchasing their year-round Oktoberfest wine. If you prefer sweeter wines, this is a good spot for you. One thing to note is that they stop serving earlier than the posted closing time. At first, our server told us we only had 30 minutes for the tasting, so we felt a bit rushed. My husband asked again, and another staff member clarified that we actually had more time, which was a relief and allowed us to slow down and enjoy it. They provide breadsticks, and there are snacks available for purchase. I'm really looking forward to going back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor patio, which looks huge. The inside, however, felt smaller than expected. There are essentially two main rooms, plus a standing bar, a seated bar, a hallway with seating, and an exclusive members-only area. read more

Pretty solid the place and it is a hidden gem on roselle. Have different areas to just sit down, just buy your cup or flight at the counter and sit whenever is comfortable. I went there in july and they were serving crisp wines for the hot summer so it was great. The Lynfred Winery is a true suburban gem tucked away in Roselle near the main street businesses. It's an anchor when there are Roselle festivals, like Rose fest or Taste of Roselle. We recently returned to buy Christmas wines and gifts for hostess baskets or parties and the tasting room offers a fun opportunity to try a few wines and some new foods through food truck vendors. Tonight's vendor was delicious Filipino food. Check out their website for more future food truck days in 2024. I always love the Christmas spiced Red wine but wanted to try the white. This fragrant spiced wine is so good warm and is not too sweet. I loved the sparkling rose' too and bought a bottle of this crisp, dry, bubbly wine for the holidays. read more

We won a gift certificate to this winery in an auction for Give Kids the World Village. It was a really nice treat. The winery is located in the main street area of Schaumburg. There is plenty of parking on the side of the winery as well as behind it. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for a flight of three glasses of wine. I chose white and rose wines and my husband had the rose and fruit wines. They all tasted great. They also come with cheese and crackers, as well as bread sticks. Finally came in to Lynfred for a visit and fell in love with it. Christina, thank you for the opportunity!! I came with 2 other girlfriends. We arrived around 3p and the place was busy! There were alot of people sitting out front at covered tables and one friendly couple helped direct us to the entrance. The winery itself is very welcoming and beautiful. You can tell its well kept and care is taken in its appearance. We did a mixture of tastings. Laura was helpful, funny and provided a joyful experience. When Laura stepped away from the bar, there was a young lady (no taller than 5'2, red-head or brunette, couldn't tell exactly) who stepped in and wasn't friendly at all and seemed to be bothered when we requested our next glass for tasting. :/ We did order the charcuterie box with different meats and cheeses to go along with our wine. It was tasty. My favorite wine was the Assemblage. It's a very smooth red with a tinge of sweetness. Despite the one staff member, I would go back. How ironic - a five-star review of a winery for a guy who doesn't even drink wine! My wife and I stopped by while on vacation, since we got a certificate through a charity auction. From looking at reviews, it appears that the winery does support quite a few charitable endeavors, which is laudable. I love the vibe of this place! There are plenty of seating options both inside and out, covered and uncovered to enjoy wine, cheese, meats, etc. They seem to have quite an active following, as the location was busy on the weekend (plenty of parking), but not too busy to enjoy. There's also a nice selection of retail items available, wine-themed and other fruit oriented. The service was so friendly, as I've not been to a winery in years, and wasn't exactly sure what the experience would be like. If you're in the area, this is a beautiful place to visit, sit and enjoy wine and snacks for a while and soak in the calming environment. read more

Our family was on vacation in Chicago, so my husband and I decided to visit some nearby wineries, starting with Lynfred. The building is gorgeous, and the staff is helpful and friendly. We decided to do a three-wine tasting each. I sampled the Viognier 2020, Sparkling Peach, and Red Sangria. I loved the Viognoir and ended up purchasing that and a bottle of the Riesling. The building is gorgeous, so I highly recommend that you take the time to walk around and take some photos. My only complaint about our visit is that the tasting menu is so limited. I wish that the Vignoles, Riesling, and some others were included. That being said we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return in the future. I highly recommend that you stop in to give their wines a try. Whether you have a palate for dry wines, sweet or semi-sweet, Lynfred has an enjoyable selection just for you. Cheers! read more

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon for a glass of wine. Super cute decor almost makes you feel like you're in Napa! I had a glass of the Pinot noir, it was light but full of flavor. They do not have a huge list for wines by the glass. Only certain wines are available. They do have a huge selection for purchase by the bottle. We ordered at the bar and sat inside. I had a great time wine tasting at Lynfred Winery. Paid ~16 for a wine tasting of 6 different wines. They offer a couple different options varied by glass, flight, or tasting but the portions and wine are said to be the same. The staff is kind and helpful. The ambiance there is very mature and classical. They have a bar area and extra tables for seating. Walking deeper in you are able to see the equipment used for their wine keeping and also have access to some extra seating and a separate room for members only. They had comfortable outdoor seating with heaters. Recommend it if you are looking for a chill night out. read more

So I got in trouble for bringing my 6-week old baby to meet some friends on the front lawn area on a sunny afternoon, because I guess they don't allow guests under 21 including infants. But what's weird is that even though the restroom is pretty small, they had a changing table! I've also heard that the membership program is only decent. We have enjoyed special events. With a purchase, you even get a change to win free wine. I have visited Lynfred almost monthly for over a year and every visit has been amazing. The employees are ALWAYS so kind, having all the information you could need while always smiling! How can I not love this place when it's walking distance from my house :) honestly we love Lynfred and now my husband and I are part of the 4 club membership (which is just double the price of the 2 bottle). I suggest joining the wine club if you are in the area! The wine tasting/glasses of wine are great for just a starter on your night out! They do close earlier so I suggest visiting before venturing out to the rest of downtown Roselle! They have a few snack items but no " food food". Their bread is AMAZING!!!! My wife & I had a great time here. I did the red flight which was a nice variety, and a cheese/meat/grape box to pair; definitely a nice snack. It's 21+ and I see why...I'm unsure why some folks believe every single establishment needs to accommodate children. Some places are just not suited for them. No disrespect, it's just an observation, but it's also not a negative point. We grabbed a small table outside to enjoy our tasting, then took a short walk around to admire the area. Pretty sure my wife has decided to staycation at the B&B so there's something to look forward to. It was clearly a great experience overall. Wine was solid as always, but I was shocked to see all of the red were priced the same and pretty steeply. We've had tons of wine from here over the years, and they very in quality. Visiting Lynfred Winery was an absolute amazing experience! To celebrate my birthday I booked the Founders' Room/ Experience and this was by far the best two hours of my weekend! We were granted a table in the Founders' Room from 2p-4p. The room was bright, elegant, and very intimate which I loved. In this experience Jennifer was our hostess/server and she was GREAT! Jennifer was very knowledgeable of the wines, and guided us though the tasting process. She got us started with rosé, charcuterie boards, and fresh baked rolls with home made butter. The charcuterie board was filled with fresh fruits, dried fruits, a very rich chocolate truffle, savory meats and the best cheese I have ever had. I really wish they sold that home made butter as well! Everything was so yummy. In addition to the charcuterie board, fresh rolls, and rosè (to cleanse our palate) Jennifer guided us through the tasting process were we chose 3 additional wines and finished with a dessert wines. I believe it is a rotating menu so the wines we tried may no be worth mentioning however, we LOVED the 2018 Chardonnay and actually ended up buying two bottles to take with us to go. I loved the eloquence of the Founders' Room, the intimacy in the experience and all the knowledge that Jennifer provided with the wine and pairings. A few of us came here early on a Friday afternoon for a wine tasting and some girl time. Overall, we had a great time together on account of the tasty wine and fun company, but there were definitely some things that could have improved our experience. The good: we found parking easily during the time we went, but we came when there were not a ton of other people there, so I could see how it might be a problem during busy hours. The property itself (what we saw of it-exterior, bathrooms, bar at entry, gift shop area) was lovely and obviously kept up nicely. Very clean. The wines we tasted were delicious for the most part, with the majority of us liking more wines than we didn't. In fact, I don't think any of us walked away without at least one bottle of wine. They do not accept tips there. Rather, you can contribute money to a charity (a different one selected each month); I thought this was a very lovely idea. Their gift shop was extensive and they had many neat offerings; if I lived closer I would absolutely keep them in mind for hostess gift needs. Finally, they offered self-serve water & samples of their bread to try with your tasting. This is not only smart on their part (because their breads are delicious and we ended up buying some to take home), but also a very nice touch that many other places do not offer. The less than good: we were greeted somewhat when we came in, but everyone seemed to be in the middle of something or uninterested in greeting us. It would have been helpful to have a more informative greeting (e.g. "Welcome, we're happy to have you...what brings you here today?...interested in a tasting, here's what you do...) Self-sufficient people that we were though, we bellied up to the bar and figured it out pretty quickly. The tasting itself and the people who did the tasting were a little disjointed. On one hand, the majority of wines we tasted were great. On the other, the system they used to keep track of what we were drinking and the discussion about the wine was mixed. Sometimes nothing at all was said about the wine, and during one pour the person serving us was very pretentious about it. In my experience, a tasting is typically much more organized and some information about the winery is provided at the outset, if at the very least just to buy some time while they set out glasses. Further, whomever is conducting it usually asks if anyone has been there, if you're a wine drinker, etc., which I think also helps the person gauge how much actual information to provide. In any event, this was not really done and although it didn't take away from our particular experience, it might be the difference between someone returning or not, who knows. They also never rinsed our glasses, which I thought was odd. This review is from our experience from a few years ago, so my hope is that their customer service experience has since improved. *** HIGHLY RECOMMEND *** My husband and I arrived at Lynfred on a gorgeous 70-degree sunny day, at 3:30 p.m. on a Saturday, to meet up with friends for a tasting before dinner.  It was the perfect time to go.   We got a parking spot smack dab in front of the main door.  Awesome start to the evening! ***TIP:  Check in on Yelp when you arrive, and get a free baguette loaf (or $3 to purchase).  We arrived before our friends, so we walked around the tasting rooms, and looked at all the wine bottles, gadgets, glasses, etc. along the walls.  The fermenting room has gorgeous stained glass windows.  Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the downstairs or upstairs (which I believe is the B&B) and private tasting rooms. The winery (mansion) is gorgeous inside and out, and if you're not interested in doing a full tasting, just grab a glass and sit outside on the porch.  Everyone behind the bar was friendly, helpful and attentive.  It wasn't overcrowded when we arrived, so we were immediately able to grab a nice spot at the bar.   For $11, you get 7 tastings.  I'd say they were maybe 2 oz. pours?  Whatever it was, it was more than enough for me. They offered us a bowl of bread to share in between wines.   My friend and I normally only like sweet wines, but the top two whites on the tasting menu were actually good - not too dry.  The apricot, blackberry and strawberry were my absolute favorites.  The strawberry smelled/tasted just like strawberry jam.  I snagged a bottle before leaving.  They have delicious sweet breads and savory loafs for purchase.  There were a couple of samples set out to try, and they were delish.  But, I don't believe you can purchase any other food in the tasting rooms. The fruit wine membership is only $11/month. Score!  You get 1 bottle (savings of about $4-5 off the normal bottle price), and I believe you get one tasting a month for free. (?)  I didn't sign up...yet. THE B&B: While it's $395/night to stay here, I was told that wine club members get 5% off the B&B rate.  And if I'm not mistaken, the percentage increases the longer you're a member.  You also get 2 bottles of wine and a charcuterie board of tasty treats included in that price.  You could easily spend that amount (without the goodies!) at other B&Bs. We will definitely be back for another tasting in the fall, and to check out their events throughout the year. read more

Went with my friend back in the fall. Beautiful seating outdoor and indoor. Wine was delicious and we enjoyed it with some chocolate. Highly recommend for a girls' day out or a date. This place is discriminating families with kids, hiding behind some ridiculous pandemic regulations and some " safety rules" because of being very close tho the road . Like a newborn in a stroller can go anywhere or spread germs , right? Someone wrote a review below like "not every place is suited for kids " and bla bla bla .. that's true, although THIS place was normal before. So at least , think of a better excuse. This place is immaculate and very beautiful- inside and out!! I am absolutely in love with their wines! I bought their wine from Binny's all the time prior to actually coming here for a wine tasting with my friend. If you are a fan of fruity wines, especially reds, you will LOVE their wine. I've turned non-wine drinkers into their cherry wine. My fav!! We were both impressed that it was only $11 per person for 7 wines to taste. They have a cute little gazebo and sitting area outside and the inside has a cottage-like atmosphere. The only thing I disliked was the layout of the bar areas, because when we went to taste test our next wine it was so crowded to the point where it was hard to walk around people and get to the bar. If you've never been to Lynfred winery you are missing a hidden gem! To have an event there is even better. I worked with Lisa and she was outstanding from start to finish. The charcuterie board and flat breads prepared by Celeste were absolutely delicious with a flair of style! Lisa and Jen were accommodating with making sure our wine selections and pours were always taken care of , and my guests were more then complimentary with the entire event! I'm going to have to think of another reason to host a party because the service, food and ambiance was over the top!! It was absolutely a step above!
