Their wine selection was better than any place in Downtown St Charles - they had Lebanese wine. Wish we had an event lol! Lovely dinner with friends celebrating a birthday. Our waiter, Maj, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The live music made the atmosphere fun and lively! It does get a little loud at some points, just FYI. The saganaki was phenomenal, as well as the shrimp and steak skewers. Hummus trio was good. My least favorite thing was the bacon wrapped dates, I've just had better at many other places. The cheesecake and baklava were chefs kiss - delicious! We chose this venue for a 70th birthday party for my Dad and I have zero complaints. Sarah was extremely patient and responsive to all of my questions and Claudia ran the event without a hiccup. We had not been to Eden since before COVID. They remodeled and now they have a huge screened-in covered patio. It was a hot night so they had the fans going. They also have plenty of heat lamps for later in the season. It was just a wonderful atmosphere, right along the river but NO BUGS! They changed up their menu a bit and it is a little pricier than it was in the past. Gone are the really Lebanese items, which is a little disappointing. But the replacements were outstanding. We started with the bacon and chorizo dates. We liked them so much we ordered a second round. We also got the stuffed grape leaves. They too, were good. They have a lot of new cocktails on their menu so we didn't even look at the wine list. Try the old fashioned with pomegranate liqueur. A nice twist on a classic. I loved the spicy mezcal margarita. Sorry, I don't remember their names. For entrees, we had the steak kabobs and the short ribs. Both were simply outstanding. The short ribs are served over mashed potatoes with a tasty gravy. The kabobs had came with rice and veggies and a yogurt sauce. I would get either again, but I want to try some of the other menu items. I can't wait to return! read more

4 and a half stars actually - we came on a Saturday night, the place was not jumping, but that doesn't mean it wasn't lively, as the Cavalier's were playing. A three piece (drums, keyboards, guitar) band with a deep playbook. Their style is somewhere between smooth jazz and acoustic vocals - perfect for drinks, tapas, and dessert, which is what we had. Bye the way, the Tiramisu is out of this world. The decor style looks like the place was prepped for a big wedding - very elegant. The main menu is Mediterranean oriented, and some of the beers hail from Lebanon and Turkey. A beautiful large patio overlooking the Fox River on a beautiful summer day with some middle eastern instrumental in the background was what I needed. Definitely make a reservation before you come here because it's always busy. The hostess and restaurant also takes precaution because they took our temperature before seating us, which was nice! We ordered a tabouli salad which had a hint of clove. Great accent, had the Syrian touch. I had the mixed combo plate: Kafta kabob, steak and chicken kabob. Came with rice, a garlic sauce and a sweet pepper sauce. The portion was perfect and I had every bite! It was delicious and juicy. Wasn't at all overpowering. I ordered an appetizer of kibbeh and it was the greatest! It was crunchy on the outside, packed with meat inside, and pomegranate glaze drizzled the top for a lovely sweet bite! We finished with delicious baklawa for dessert. It was great, the rose water really shines through. I didn't like the whipped cream with it (it was decorated on the side) but that's ok. I also had their home made lemonade. Perfect! It wasn't too sweet or too tangy. The service was great, it was clean and the place is beautiful inside and out! read more

This is a 4.5 star review. If the patio music hadn't been so loud i couldn't hear the person I was sitting next to, an easy 5 star review. That being said, the musician was great. He was preforming popular music in Italian. Definitely a treat. We ordered vegetarian fare from the appetizer list: - Baba ganoush - Dolma - Spanakopita The spanakopita was served in a bed of AMAZING saffron rice. Had I known how good, I'd have ordered extra. The pastry was super tasty too. Everything was good, including my pot of mint tea. It was the first truly Fall-feeling day of 2020 and the warm tea on the patio by the river was sublime. Got this as a Groupon for me and my boyfriend to try. The fine print stated we both must order a "plate" but luckily I saw that before we arrived. I made an online reservation, but they were pretty flexible because I had to cancel it but they let me just change the time. Lots of places to park although we parked down the street. We arrived around 6 and wasn't too packed. Hostess was very nice and we got a spot right overlooking the river. We did wait a while for the waiter to approach us, but we both knew what we wanted. We both decided to try the fried chicken with fries because it was in our price range. (Steak looked good but $27.99 a plate). Chicken was very good! It came with garlic sauce that complimented it well and fries were on point. Only thing that was upsetting was they gave us plates in the start of our meal. I figured it was for hummus or maybe bread and butter but we never received anything. Random plates sat there the whole night. Food was pretty good but quite expensive. The view was amazing and I wish we could had waited for the sun to set and the lights to turn on. Staff was nice but our waiter was pretty busy tonight. Took us a while to get our check once we were finished. And also the bill included a prorated tip. Not sure if they do that to everyone or just to the Groupon people so the wait staff gets their tips or what. I left it be and didn't add any to it. All in all, I would try again. Had a lovely Valentines dinner here... several live musicians and an impressive balloon heart I will say the skewers felt just ok... like something you could get elsewhere maybe. But the tapas was fabulous, probably the best dolma I've ever had. So if I were to go back, I would probably stick with the tapas menu. read more

Located along the Fox River in downtown St Charles; this restaurant boasts stunning views and a large screened in patio. Our large group dined outdoor and the aesthetic was wonderful, however the restaurant was emptied than anticipated. Our waiter was shy but accurate at his trade. We began with Saganaki! The dip trip, and the spinach and artichoke dip. The saganaki was classic- though I would prefer it to be served with pita rather than the crostini they included. Additionally the dip Reil was a bit, but we had to ask for more pita and I feel the portion ratio was off (lots of dip and limited pita). The flatbreads are not super flat, but I enjoyed the fig and blue cheese flatbread. It's more of a naan style crust. Everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks and this restaurant checked all the boxes for consistency, but didn't hit it out if the park. I wish their menu included tzatziki, that's my favorite greek dip. Eden is a safe and reasonably priced Mediterranean joint with 5 star views and quality food that will suffice but failed to over impress. read more

It was a good choice to go to . Love their outdoor patio dining. It's just on the banks of the Fox. We ordered mango smoothie and virgin strawberry monitor. Followed by muhamurah and Eden's spicy potatoes for appetizer and the main course was veggie hummus plate and combo plate and chicken tender for kid. Everything looked made fresh and tasted delicious. The seating is decent enough and they are practicing good SD. The food didn't took too long and came in a good flow. First... Loved that the Covid procedures they had in place. They took our temperatures coming in. The staff wore masks and we were seated not to close to others. The outside patio was very nice, sitting on the water with umbrellas to provide shade. The food was very good. I ordered the chicken swarma wrap and hubbie ordered the Eden burger. Would recommend both. The only thing I didn't like was our server. He lacked enthusiasm... But the worst was when the bus boy was refilling out drinks towards the end of our meal and the our server signaled his bus boy to cut us off. How awful and rude. I understand needing to keep service going but we weren't lingering. We hadn't even finished our meal. I would rated them at least a 4 had we not witnessed that. read more

Loved this place so much the first time. Went back for seconds the same week! My sister in law invite me for lunch on a Sunday. We got the Eden Spicy Potatoes as an appetizer and I got some Gyro Quesadillas for myself. I loved both items. I couldn't wait to bring my husband back so we came back on Thursday! I will start by saying the food was awesome. Truly delicious. 5 stars for that. We were a group of 4 people and ordered the lamb chop tapas as one of our many tapas orders. Absolutely delicious. However, it only came with 3 lamb chops. We told them we would pay extra if they could put a 4th lamb chop on the tapas plate. The chef said no. I mean come on......we are willing to pay extra for it. They have absolutely no flexibility with their orders. You get what they serve and that's it. Our bill ended up being about $310 for 4 people with about 2 drinks per person. When we got out bill, in very tiny, small print, there was an extra charge of about $13 for a "CONVIENIENCE FEE". They said that this was the cost of using a credit card. Are you kidding me????? Who does this and doesn't tell the patrons?????? If you are going to do this.........fine........but tell me about it. Don't just try and hide it in the bill. Again....... Food was great but when the chef has no flexibility on the menu and they try and jam down a convenience fee down your throat without telling you......I'm sorry........I won't be back. The ambiance and our table view were perfect. Our server was so friendly and made a number of recommendations since we hadn't been to Eden before. The drinks we ordered were superb. While they were out of the bottle of wine we had ordered, the replacement was nice and comparable to what we had originally wanted. It was quiet and not crowded at all. The food was alright. I had the filet mignon skewers and my husband had the short ribs. His was delicious and cooked perfectly. My steak was tough and dry. Even the rice was dry. For the price, I'd say the food lacked. We all grew up with our Lebanese mother and 5 aunts cooking Lebanese food for us so we were expecting some semblance of Lebanese/ Mediterranean flavors. This was not even close. I am not sure why they have watered down their Lebanese flavors. Fattoush with Pomegranate and Honey. That is not even close to Fattoush. Kibbeh without pine nuts and adding Pomegranate Molasses. What a wonderful room! The addition of the glassed-in patio was a great move! Lots of classiness in the decor, yet there's a comfy casualness to the room. The mediterranean-inspired menu is full of great surprises as well as old favorites. Small plates to entrees. Good cocktail list and beer selection as well. TIP: Get the saganaki. I love the ambiance at Eden's, however the food and everything else was very disappointed especially the last time we visited. The calamari were terrible and how they were prepared, the tiramisu extremely sweet and with a texture not at all on how it should be. The pappardelle very lemony. I tried to contact the restaurant through their website. No reply. I decided to call the restaurant and spoke to Omar. He was very understanding and willing to make things better. On top of our disappointment, they added and additional charge because we were paying with a credit card. Totally unacceptable. The overall experience was disappointing. read more

My husband and I dined last night. The remodeling is gorgeous however the mosquitoes flying around are annoying. One landed on my hummus. Management needs to figure out a solution. I noticed people waving their hands to avoid being bitten. Anyways... We had the falafel sliders for the appetizer. You get two patties on a pita bread with lettuce tomato and tahini sauce. The falafel was nicely seasoned. Maybe serve it with hot sauce and hummus and carrots so the plate presentation is better. For $14, it is the MOST expensive falafel I've ever eaten. First off, let me say that I'm not that familiar with this type of food but am an adventurous diner and eat out frequently. Unfortunately I found the food to be uninspiring and wouldn't bother returning. We stopped in for a Sat lunch and ordered the chicken shawarma and gyro quesadilla and both plates were lacking in regards to presentation and the quesadilla was very thin and not very substantial and the Shawarma was too tangy and tart for my liking. Server was nice but service was slow. Also, there is an add on their website that offers 50% off a second entree if you check in. So I checked in and when I went to redeem the coupon it stated that it is only good Wed & Thurs at lunch so that's kinda misleading. Just had dinner here on a Sunday evening. The service was slow and it wasn't even busy. We got the flatbread, calamari, shrimp appetizer. It tasted like frozen food they just heated up and not even all the way. Then we got the seafood pasta and the steak, SO BLAND. My boyfriend got the steak and clearly whoever made it did not know how to cook. They burned the outside then cut it open to see that it was still bloody and put it back on the pan. Why are you serving a steak that you cut into. My God I am not sure what people have been eating and leaving a good review on because it was disgusting. And the price that you pay is ridiculous. All you're doing is paying for it mediocre food and the view. The drinks happen to be pretty decent though. Again the service was slow for the place not even being busy. This place gets a 5 for the food/ambiance and a 1 for the service. We had a rare date night and picked Eden on the River as a bit of a splurge. We were seated at around 7:15 for dinner on a weekend night, after having a drink at the bar. When our server came around (I'd guess 5-10 minutes later, no problem there), we ordered everything at once. Drinks and appetizers showed up quickly and were really good. Then.....nothing. Soup and salad came out after about an hour, with a hint that there was some backup in the kitchen. Those were good too. Entrees never arrived, with the server telling us that they were "slammed" that night. But the restaurant was half full by 8:30 and people who had been seated well after us had already been served. At around 9:00 - 1.5 hours+ after ordering - we just gave up. To their credit, the manager and server were very nice and this seemed like a rare occasion (though it looks from other reviews like this happens to a number of people.) They wrote off the appetizer and even offered to pack up the entrees, which they said were "almost done." That was generous but honestly we didn't want to sit there any more and didn't have much faith. We tipped our server and were out of there. We needed to spell our babysitter but we were so hungry so we ended up having dinner at Culver's. I would have preferred the entree but at 9:30 the buffalo chicken tenders were a good consolation prize. read more

Happy to be the first to review. I giving 4 of 5 stars because perfection is rarely attained. We have been in St. Charles 20 years so we have tried every restaurant. Trust me. So happy that this one opened. Great location on river which is rare. Prior place was not good so this new owner has got it right finally. We eat out frequently so this area has limited options. Ok so let's talk food. Started with spanakopita. New twist on an old dish. They add a tasty sauce and rice. Was very good. Soup was delicious. Ok entrees. We had Lamb shank and combo plate. Seriously different and good. Great unique flavor. Service: owners immediately identified themselves and wanted to know what we thought. All servers and bartenders were were attentive.
