I eat here all the time - they were local and healthy way way before it was cool - and vey good

I was in this establishment early this morning . My first there ... I was looking around then headed to the back for teas ... it took 30 minutes looking, finding, labeling and bagging ... I get to the counter and I had not put enough in each bag .. I had no idea .. I was never once checked on to see if I had any questions, needed help .. instead of going back to refill my bags yo make them 2 ounces each .. I apologized and left .. I'm not understanding why they couldn't just sell me what I had .. like $1 a bag .. and next time I'd know .. but I'm going back I'll buy online ... customer service I'm just not impressed .. read more

I was craving a natural strawberry smoothie and we found this gem. I ordered the strawberry sunrise and it was delicious. I was able to see them make my smoothie and all the ingredients were natural. It doesn't look like they use any powder like other smoothie places, which is a plus in my book. I can't wait to come back to eat some of their food and try their Elvis smoothie. I wonder if it tastes anything like the one from Beet Box Blend Bar, which is actually my favorite smoothie there. read more

Great place to get natural herbs and snacks. We also ate at the restaurant which was pretty good. Lots of vegetarian options. Just make sure you ask what is in your dish if you are on a strict diet and if you don't eat pre-packaged frozen food because some of it is. I had the veggie wrap which was really good. And my husband had the Happy Burger. He liked the burger but felt the slaw was a little sweet for his taste. We will definitely come back though. read more

I found this place when I was looking for a store that sells bulk herbs so I could make some elderberry syrup and teething gel for my kiddos. It's a 30 minute drive from my house (without traffic), but that is the only complaint I have about it! Coming from the West Coast, I'm used to places like this being the norm--healthy, mindful products and herbs that may cost a bit more than Kroger but you know you can trust. What a refreshing break from the sea of chain stores and restaurants in my neck of the woods. Everyone was incredibly helpful; I had my 3 month-old strapped to me and my toddler at my side, and was offered help to find/reach herbs and other products. I couldn't pass up trying the food, so the staff held our basket at the counter so we could eat before we checked out. The salad nicoise was so delicious and satisfying, and the service was very pleasant. The outdoor seating was nicely hidden from the parking lot with a row of bushes and flowers that attracted butterflies to entertain my daughter. When we went to check out they had already rung up my items and had them bagged so I wouldn't have to wait. The owner even offered to help me take the bag to my car. I felt like a kid in a candy store at A Moveable Feast, and I can't wait to have an excuse to return! read more

I've been a patron since 1971. They recently lost the chef that the original owners trained on their recipes. Sadly, the food is over salted, pasta is cooked to mush and the enchiladas are puny. So very sad. Unfortunately, the current owners have not done a quality control check and it shows. I will find another health food restaurant to visit. read more

There is nothing I appreciate more than a restaurant that has a lot of healthy options. I wish there were more A Moveable Feasts around Houston. This place accommodates every diet: vegan, vegetarian or just trying to eat meat with no antibiotics. I had the Happy Veggie Patty Plate and it was very tasty. I specifically liked the marinara that it came with. The veggies were okay...I prefer less oil. I also had a vegan chocolate cupcake and it was melt in your mouth good. I keep sending links to AMF to everyone I meet on Yelp who is into their Healthy options or is a Vegetarian and just wants supplements at a fair price so I guess I should put my 'tuppence' worth in (sorry to the locals, 2 Cents, i mean ). There is generally always a masseuse working by the entrance should you need to relax those shoulders. Their cakes are more than delicious, believe me and they make you queue right by them before you can order your lunch, cunning!! I always ending up going back for one. There is always a large amount of police officers eating there. This tickled me because my general impression was that all American policemen lived on doughnuts? My boyfriend and I were running errands around town and we happened to be in the I-10/Blalock area during lunch. We didn't feel like eating at a fancy restaurant; we wanted something quick, light, and healthy...ish. Personally, I've never seen or heard of A Moveable Feast and I love trying new places, so I decided to check it out. We didn't have ample time to peruse the menu since the line was moving at a fairly quick pace, so I had to make up my mind pretty fast. I ordered the tuna sandwich, a side of miso soup and a small Greek salad while my boyfriend had the chicken sandwich, a side of garden vegetable soup and a small Greek salad. First of all, I was expecting great service (as always). Instead, the counter girl was extremely rude. She barked at us as if we were stupid and wasting her time; i.e. "What do you want?" or "Look at the sign, you'll see what the specials are". I was taken aback, but said nothing. We asked what the soup of the day was, and she rudely pointed to a VERY SMALL sign and said "That's the soup of the day"... we proceeded to ask her what was in it and she shouted across the kitchen and brought the cook over to explain it to us. We didn't feel like dealing with any more disrespect so we headed over to our table to wait for our meal. My sandwich was good (but then again, how hard is it to buy wheat bread and put tuna on it?), my greek salad was tasty, but my miso soup was disgusting. I never thought you could truly mess up something as simple as miso soup, but alas.... A Moveable Feast proved me wrong. It was extremely salty and had a strange red hue to it. No tofu, either. I was disappointed in the soup, but the sandwich and salad made up for it. My boyfriend was surprised at how good his meal was as well. It was simple, quick, and easy.... just what we wanted. The only thing discouraging me from ever returning here is a) it's a bit expensive for what you get and b) service was not friendly. If you had asked me about a Moveable Feast 8 years ago, I would have encouraged you to go. I would have probably babbled on about how vegetarian friendly they were (optional soy cheese on dishes, more than one vegetarian patty) and how impressed I was with their focus on health and nutrition. In fact, for a while I claimed their Southwestern Plate (herb pesto rice, grilled tofu, grilled vegetables and side salad with green herb dressing) was my favorite dish in Houston. Now I would tell you to avoid it at all cost. WTF happened to this place? Some of my beloved plates are still there, but everything has lost its flavor or appeal. The Southwestern Plate alone was a major disappointment. The tofu was dry, the selection of grilled vegetables was meager and my salad was served with wilted lettuce. They've scaled down on the vegan options and raised the prices. And I'm too scared to try the desserts - from looks alone, it looks like plastic. Hard, dry and like they've been sitting in the case for too long. Clearly somebody must have taken over management since I first started going there. Who ever is in charge has let this place go and is only offering the bare minimum to keep the place running. And just as bland and uninspiring as their food is their staff. Smile for crissakes. I love the high protein and low carbohydrate dish here. I usually have it with herb crusted salmon and it is dynamite! It literally blows a hole in my wallet because it cost me around $16-$20 for lunch every time I come here. But I can't get enough of it. The salmon is always perfectly cooked, juicy, flaky and fresh, goes great with the crunchy stir fry vegetables. It is a part drug/health store and part restaurant that serves health conscious foods that are vegan, vegetarian, wheat free and dairy free. I've been coming to this place for years because it's so unique! what other restaurant do you know of offers massages and has a whole health grocery store inside of it. Okay, maybe Whole Foods, but it's really cool and unique nonetheless. I am not the biggest fan of their prices though. Honestly, I feel like all of their menu items, as well as the items in their health store, are very overpriced. While the aura of the place is unique, the food quality isn't my favorite, so that's why I'm not going to give this place a five star rating. Really is a hidden treasure in the Echo Lane shopping center. The restaurant has some of the BEST brunch/lunch around! In my opinion, this place is better than Corner Bakery (which is all hyped up/aesthetically more modern and pretty). Get the breakfast pita which comes with a Greek salad and boca ( which is feaux veggie sausage)/chicken sausage OR the breakfast quesadillas and you will NOT be disappointed. Not only does it taste more natural and has less salt/cheese, it still is packed with hearty satisfying flavor. The breakfast enchiladas was maybe a strange combination with scrambled eggs inside, but they were delicious nonetheless. You will feel full and happy afterwards. (Looking forward to coming back for lunch to try the spinach and mushroom enchiladas) Also, my friend and I split the hummingbird cupcake which tastes like carrot cake. Soooo good and moist! A health food store and a restaurant in one. I can go eat a healthy, tasty meal on one side and then walk over and pick up vitamins on the other. This is my kind of multi-tasking. One word of caution, though. Be sure to pick up a menu before you order. I went there several times and just ordered the daily special before i realized that they have a complete menu. I recommend the taco salad for vegetarians and the fish tacos (only on Fridays) for carnivores. Give AMF a try ... you will be glad that you did! My friend stopped in for lunch earlier in the week and raved about the vegetarian chili. Of course, I had to check it out. It's a health food store with a restaurant inside. Their menu includes everything from burgers and wraps to salads and dinner players of chicken and fish..you simply must check it out. So today I wanted to try out their pasture raised burger..OMG, very well made. I ordered it medium-well with all the fixins. I can't say enough about how well it tasted-juicy, well-spiced with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and accompanied with blue corn chips. yummy. Followed up with hummingbird cupcake. AGAIN, OMG. Wow, I'm really surprised that this place only has 4 reviews. My former colleague introduced me to this place a while back and I'm just now reviewing it. Sorry A Moveable Feast you deserve more than that. Located in the right hand corner of the Kroger's shopping center (Echo Lane Shopping Center) @ Echo Land & I-10, is a health food store, or so I thought. The parking lot was full so that was a good sign but viewing as the automatic doors open and close I couldn't see the restaurant. Where was the restaurant? As we got closer to the doorway, I saw a long line of people on the right hand side and the wafting of the food smelled so good. We got in line and grabbed a menu. I asked for a few recommendations from my colleague and she said that everything is good there but she LOVES the salmon burger, veggie burger, the vegetarian chili, and hummus & pita. I noticed they have bison burger on the menu but opted for the salmon burger, side salad and chipotle mayo on the side. My colleague got the vegetarian chili and sun dried tomato hummus with pita chips. They handed us a buzzer to let us know when the food is ready. We grabbed the nearest table which wasn't really open because there were so many people, we were almost sitting family style. It's ok though because that's how the lunch crowd is like says my colleague. We got our food within 5 minutes which wasn't so bad considering how busy they were. My salmon delicious. The salmon was well seasoned and not overcooked and the chipotle mayo added to the flavor. I really wish my whole wheat bun was toasted but I can't really complain, I didn't ask. I got a taste of my colleague's chili and it was fantastic for being what it is. The chili had a lot of depth and flavor for not being meat based. I also had some of the hummus, and it was smooth and creamy. I wish the pita chips were like the ones at Phoenicia. Those are delicious.... but that's another review on it's own. As far as pricing goes, for me it's a little bit more than what I'd like to pay for lunch. $12 for a salmon burger and side salad My colleague: $9 bucks for veggie chili and hummus & pita All in all, it's a great place to grab a quick healthy lunch besides the inadequate seating for a large crowd. I love this place. It's a health market and restaurant with a very small town vibe. I felt like I was walking into a Grandy's in east Texas that actually served yummy, healthy food. This is my favorite restaurant in Houston! It's not fancy and it's kinda confusing next to the pharmacy but the food is amazing!! I'm not a Vegetarian but I don't like eating meat! This place has amazing vegetarian options! Not just a plain salad! I've tried half the menu, including some meat dishes and there's not one thing I don't like!!
