Horrible experience!!! It only cost me $15,000.00 out of my pocket to restore my wood furniture after our furniture was delivered damaged by rain water. Scheduled them for a small move. Roy told me 8:30 arrival. By 9:00, they had not shown up. I called and left a voicemail, then texted, then called again and it went straight to VM. Zero return calls or texts. The movers called me at 11:30 to let me know they were on their way. By then I had already had to call another moving company. Roy called and told me I was wrong and proceeded to yell at me on the phone. With zero communication along the way; he proceeded to tell me I was wrong. I've never experienced such unprofessionalism. I just relocated from Chicagoland to Southern California on a shoestring budget. The A-Line movers were courteous and professional and came in $1,000 under the estimate of their nearest competitor! DO NOT HIRE!!! I ignored the reviews and paid dearly. It should be noted that my previous review disappeared from this site. The owner, "Roy", actually called and emailed me threatening to sue if I didn't remove my review. "I" did not remove it, yet it disappeared. I would hope that a legitimate review doesn't get removed just because a business owner moaned and groaned to Yelp. I did actually wait to write my review until the small claims proceedings were complete. Is that the excuse? In the small claims matter, "Roy" took me to court to sue me because I stopped the payment check. This hearing kept getting continued by Nagel and his lawyer. My belongings arrived in March of 2021. The hearing didn't occur until the end of the year. When all of my property arrived in Florida soaking wet with water actually pouring out of the boxes, I stopped payment on the check. The contract that I had signed basically stated that I could only recover .60 per pound for damage. Of course no one ever believes that something will actually happen. It can. It did. BE ADVISED, do not sign these one-sided contracts. Because of the signed contract, the court found that I had to pay this guy for the move. After stopping the check, I was simply going to walk away, even though my property loss was in excess of $10,000.00. Because of medical issues and the stress of the whole thing, I was actually going to let it go after stopping payment, chalking it up to a horrible lesson learned. Unbelievably rude. Called to request an onsite visit to quote moving furniture to our son cross country. They said they would send someone out to give an estimate and since we're older and immunocompromised I requested that whoever they send please wear a mask and the lady told me "we don't wear masks" and I said "anyone that enters my house needs to wear a mask" and she responded "then you need to find a different moving company". So....that's what I did. The gentlemen that came out had no problem wearing a mask and even asked if I wanted him to remove his shoes. The owner Roy and wife Maria are very unethical. They lie when your furniture will be arriving they keep telling you different days. It took a month and a day for me to get mine they said 5-7 days Then they gave one of my boxes to the people in front of me and gave me their tile when I called to ask for help they refused to help and kept ignoring my phone calls simple fix call customer and tell him. I had to track customer down and get a hold of them myself. Never even called other customer. They damaged my car and daybed when I called to ask how they wanted to handle the damage. He called back screaming and said he was not fixing anything. I sent pictures immediately to them he said I calling a week later really they would not talk to me never answered my calls His wife pretended to be an answering service. The boys loading were very nice but the owner came and started screaming and swearing at the help. The driver who delivered my stuff tried to help but his hands were tied. He's rude unethical and this has been the worst experience moving it's hard enough you don't need a person who can't handle his temper. We had to move from Dyer, Indiana to Florida. It was difficult to find movers that were available on short notice. A-Line came through for us. They were on time, showed up with two trucks and decided we only needed the smaller one. They moved our stuff out of storage as well as the house. I was so happy when they showed up in Florida 3 days earlier than expected! Nothing was broke or damaged. I would definitely use them again. read more

Please do not use this moving company, they seem reasonably priced and that's why I chose them but the movers broke my furniture, gouged walls, and they ruined an expensive television and the owner Roy, was rude and inconsiderate when I called asking about my broken furniture. If your moving from your house, they are completely unprofessional. Moving is stressful enough, they will make things worse for you. Very bad experience! They require a 24 hr notice for cancellation or you lose your deposit.. This seemed totally reasonable. My closing date on my house got pushed back so I called to reschedule well within 24 hrs. They were booked for the day I would be moving. When I said I would be needing to go with another company the lady got mad and refused to give me back my $100 deposit. I kept asking her to explain how she thought I didn't give notice and she just kept yelling at me that this was ridiculous and that she didn't have time to explain anything. I asked to speak to the owner and she said the owner was her husband. I kept asking for explanation which she refused and ultimately hung up on me. Talk about the WORST customer service. A-Line gets one star because the movers themselves did an adequate job (that was the positive part). However, the office who lined up the move promising that our move was first in line and we could expect the movers about 8:30 am did not follow through with their commitment. They called early on the morning of the move and left a message asking if we had arranged everything needed for our end of the move - which was going to be a 15 minute move of a large item from our house into a trailer. We did not get the message until about 8:30 am and when we called back we were told the movers would be there in an hour. We waited and waited - after an hour and a half we began calling the office but never got past the answering machine. We left messages asking when we could expect the movers for this 15 minute move - no one ever called back. Finally the movers showed up at 1 pm and executed the move in ten minutes. We were extremely frustrated by the lack of response and the delay it caused when we had 900 miles to drive to get the one item to its destination. It nearly cost us an extra day in our travel plans. I would not use this moving company again as they are dishonest. read more

Never been treated so rude, and lied to so much by a company I was paying over $8000. Movers arrive at 7:30 this morning with our furniture. Great bunch of guys, BUT the owners, A Highland Indiana Bases Company, A LINE MOVERS, is a BIG rip off. Told us they would wave 5% added charge they charge for Credit Cards, which I thought was not allowed by the merchant agreement. But the Office lady, "married to the owner", Maria, is rude, nasty, lies, and will not shut her mouth to listen to a customer. Any one that needs trucks, they well not be in business long if she is "running things" as she told me on the phone. Beware, Roy will tell you anything to get you to sign the contract, but his wife, said she is the boss, and yells at you and will not talk like a professional on the phone. SHE is running the company Roy had built. Wonder how she got where she is??? , DO NOT SIGN WITH THEM, THEY PROMISE ONE THING AND the Bosses wife changes things and will not let you talk to ROY.. Must be a bate and switch once they have your stuff. RIPE OFF! I did not ask him to wave the 5 % he said MC charges them, I ask him to give the total early so I could get cash cert ck , as they require, since I was moving to a new city where I did not have a bank. BUT Roy said he would wave the 5%. I did not ask him to. So I thought I could take him at his word. Then to make matters worse, we had them move a car with the furniture. When it arrived they had wiped the side out, and damage to the top in 2 places at the cost of $2700 dollars, and doing this damage they had to know they did it but did not mention it. It is now 7 weeks and we can not get anything from them. The driver noted the damage, but when you call they tell you the insurance company is handling and hang up. We sent estimates, they do not respond. If Roy wants to pay the bills he better realize his "wife" is putting him in BIG trouble. Overheard comments form the workers about how difficult...to put it mildly she can be. I read the reviews and I was nervous but I actually had an okay experience. Moving is awful anyways and we had to move from Chicago out to Highland. They were late getting to our Chicago place but other than that the movers were nice, polite and worked. They stored our stuff and arrived right on time (in Indiana) and were quick to unload. Also for long distance they were hundreds cheaper than my Illinois quotes. You pay for travel but in the end it was still less with a week long storage fee. All in all it was pleasant! We definitely knew for sure the day we were moving so we did not have to move dates. I didn't really deal with management at all except for calling looking for the movers in Chicago and she was fine so I can't really comment on that. read more

NOTHING YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY READ... These guys are awful! I moved SIX times in 10 years and these were THE WORST movers I ever dealt with. Lies, cheats, lazy, rude...you name it. When I called, they asked the size of my current home. I explained to them exactly, and even said, "Add a bedroom, though. We store well." When the truck showed up, I asked the driver where the rest of it was. He said that's the truck the recommend for a two-bedroom. Nonetheless it took them two trips to move me. They charged me BY THE HOUR for their screw-up. Which means I paid for them to drive back and forth an extra time. BTW- I only had my bed, a desk and two couches in my condominium "unpacked"...everything else was in my garage (where they parked) and the ordeal still took 10 HOURS to move my two bedroom six miles away! All I did was moved from having my stuff in one garage, to having them unload it literally into another garage. Not a thing was unloaded into the house. Everything went into our new garage...well, except the missing box (more on that later.) Before they even start moving your furniture you will sign a waiver. They can break what they want of yours, basically. They broke an entire side off of my desk. Just flat-out broke it off. An entire SIDE! When I called Roy to discuss, he said, "You signed the waiver, right?" I have it on good authority that Roy hears a popping sound every morning when he pulls his head out of his a$s. This guy was one of the biggest jacka$ses I have ever dealt with...and I deal with many of them! There was a time when I once had a perfectly new glass-top table: A-Line broke it. There's a two-inch chip they took out of the edge. I have the chipped piece, but that doesn't do too much for tempered glass. Roy told me they "had a guy" that could "trim the rest of it to make it look right." Thanks, Roy. I wanted a smaller table that "looked right," instead of the table I meticulously picked out and purchased. This guy is a MFDumbA$s and epitomizes a-holes to say the least. By the way- he's the owner, so look for no further relief should you have already employed his lazy movers. After getting completely unpacked, we are missing a very specific box. EVERYthing we are missing was in this ONE box. Where could this box be? Really annoying. It included the accessories to our electric mixer and some spatulas and other dumb accessories, but HTF does this box just disappear? Roy: "You looked in the back of the truck, didn't you?" Yep, a-hole. I did. GFY yet again. Your dumb wife, Maria, sent the wrong sized truck, so the lazy drivers put some stuff in the cab, which we didn't get to check. When the drivers started moving stuff, it was like amateur hour. One of them actually turned to me and said, "Where should we start?" Are you kidding me? Start by picking up your lazy hands and taking something to the truck. That's the reason we hired a service. Because we didn't want to waste time figuring that out. Maybe it's best that he didn't move so quick. The guy "putting things" in the truck was literally throwing things on top of others, which is how I acquired this once-great, now-broken desk. These guys sucked. All they did was put our stuff in our new garage and they threw things, wrecked things and took forever. Oh- and lost things. They blew. Worst ever!!! THREE times during the day of the move, as I was interacting with my lender, realtor, friends/family, etc. people said, "They're not done? Who did you use? Why didn't you use Bill's?" Next time I will. A-Line movers are the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are scammers and they can suck it! It's too bad Roy and Maria didn't get reviewed by Yelp users when they originally started their scam. They wouldn't have earned the means to continue their awful business practices. These scammers should be investigated. Did I mention the owner Roy is a condescending prick and talks to you like a child? If I didn't read any other Yelp! review on here and find the same. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this company. Office staff was kind, helpful and so pleasant. The packers were wonderful and the movers were incredible. Very nice guys, lots of "please", "thank you", "sir" and "Ma'am". Long day, starting at 8 am in one town and finishing around 11 pm before they got back to their offices. I hired A Line Movers to move me and my aunt. When they came to move me they stood around constantly and kept disappearing. When I'd look for them they would be standing on the truck. They drug my things. They scratched my floors. I've attempted to get a resolution for my floors but the owner always says he'll come and never shows up. They charged both me and my aunt for her deposit and overcharged me. Their guys are slow and lazy and don't know what they're doing. When they returned my things they didn't set anything up as requested - this was the entire purpose for hiring movers. The movers wanted to constantly talk so I'd have to walk away so they could get finished. When moving in my washer they tried 3xs and then the guy said see that's how you get out of doing that - really, who does that when it's at my expense I guess the workers of A Line Movers do. If I had to move with just me and my 12 year old I would never give them my business again. read more

Like some of the others on this site, if I could give a lower rating, I surly would. In October of 2015, we moved from Indiana to Phoenix. We needed to transport one of our vehicles, a garage kept 2007 Mazda Miata with 25,000 miles on it, and with the exception of a stone chip on the drivers side rear view mirror, was in pristine condition. Owner Roy Nagel assured us that they had transported cars in the past and no harm would come to our MX-5. When the truck arrived on October 4th, the first thing that the driver told us was that a shelf above our car had been installed improperly and had broken in transport and did some damage to the front bumper and head light. Pictures were taken and documents signed concerning the damage. We were told to expect a call from A-Line "soon". After waiting for two weeks, I called them and left a message with their secretary, who said that the owners would get hold of me tomorrow. That call, along with all others, were never returned. We were finally told to get two estimates, which we did, one for $1200, the other for $1300. After the issue hadn't been resolved in four months, we contacted our lawyer in Indiana to handle the situation. Mr. Nagel still refused to pay for the damages done to our car. How can you run a business this way and expect to stay in business? My advice is, DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. IF ANY OF YOUR PROPERTY IS DAMAGED, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN! read more

The one star is for the old gentleman whom almost broke his back to make sure the move was a success. As for this company I selected them based on their previous reviews. It appears they have people writing the good reviews for them because I did not receive the excellent service they claimed to give. My family was doing a corporate long distance move, and against the relocation specialist advice we selected A-line movers not appointed by relocation assistance. Big mistake!! If you are not worried about how well your items are packed, how your items are handled, and whether your items might come up missing, then this is your company. I was scheduled to get packed on a Friday and to load on a Saturday but without my knowledge the men began aggressively packing and loading my belongings. The televisions were wrapped only with a blanket. The remotes were left behind only to be thrown in a blanket with cords. They forgot to pack 4 boxes of my belongings and I had to do it myself. They broke the back of my grill instead of waiting until my neighbor cut the chain. My expensive frames weren't wrapped but placed in the box with my linen. Storage bins were broken, screws and items missing etc. When my items were delivered the men didn't want to go upstairs and instead dropped items off in the garage and downstairs living room. I had to ask several times to move items to their correct room. Many got left without even trying. End table broke, $300 desk broke, TV broke. And to top it off they wanted me to unpack all wardrobe boxes so they can REUSE them. YUCK!! Contamination at it's best. When I called to file complaint Monday morning, Maria called me a liar and told me I signed for everything so it holds up in court. I had to tell her the driver came in my house BEFORE unloading and told me he needed me to sign that they have arrived. My 18yr old daughter is my witness. It's been almost 2weeks and I an still waiting on a call back from the owner. Thank God for my lawyer friends because we will be taking them to court. I also notified my national relocation company who has placed them on red flag when doing company moves. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL ITEMS. Boy do I wish I had read these reviews before I used this unprofessional "Bait and Switch" company. I could have just agreed with every comment on this page. And the 2 positive reviews they have must have been paid for by the owner. Yes this pathetic poor excuse for a man sat at a table in my house and proclaimed "Sure we can hold your furniture till a later date, and at no charge! " Couldn't give me a delivery date, just "wait till it gets closer to the date". Shame on me for taking him at his word, and trusting people. So 13 days early the semi truck driver calls and says he has my furniture, tell him I don't have an apartment yet , he says "ROY" says get a storage unit to put it in, or the semi driver will get a storage unit , that I must pay for , and they will not tell me where the stuff is until I pay the bill. Topping it off, I have to rent a smaller truck to actually deliver the load to a friends apartment because the semi won't fit into the apartment complex. I immediately called the office when they arrived early, conveniently went to the "answering service" , left a message to call me back, VERY important. NO one ever called, that 's when the threats started, relayed to me through the semi driver. To take advantage of a senior is the lowest form of life, and will also notify the BBB, and relay to Dateline or local news station. I second the comment about wishing we could give zero stars. Worst experience moving. They said they were leaving at 8am, office is 15 miles from my house, the truck did not arrive until after 9:30, and I am being billed for that entire time. Employees openly admitted that the owner made a mistake in scheduling, so after loading up the 36ft truck we ordered, they then unloaded it and proceeded to pack up a 15ft truck they sent (that we didn't order). I am getting billed for this entire time as well. It is now almost 11:30 and we have just started actual work. My husband and I had all of our belongings packed and in the front yard to keep the process moving. The movers said they may have to make 2 trips, and we could call monday and work it out with the owner. Thank god we didn't make 2 trips. When my husband called Roy that morning, he offered to take 30 minutes off the time. Ridiculous! He proceeded to raise his voice, yell, and swear at my husband. Stating, "you're the type of man who orders a steak dinner, eats half, and sends it back and expects the meal for free." We never expected the job for free, but were simply willing to pay for the service we actually received. We ended up getting billed for 6 hours, when we only got about 3 hours of actual work. The receptionist is his wife, so don't plan on getting anywhere with her. Don't believe Google reviews, You are allowed to pay/remove reviews on that website. Wish we would have checked this website first, we never would have booked them. I cannot say enough about the movers themselves, they did a fantastic job. I can so relate to the experience of Alan B. A line movers told me they could move my house hold goods from IN to CA within 3 weeks. I was told they would arrive on 5/31 between 11:00 and 1:00 pm. Started calling them after 1:00 but Marie kept telling me she had no way to contact the moving men but that they would call and then would be there 30 mins later. They arrived at 6:30pm and after packing my goods, reassured me they had to pack up another household 5 days later then be on their way to CA. That should have been the first indication of how this company operates! 17 days later I had not heard from them. Called Maria who told me that Roy would be in contact. I eventually talked to Roy who told me that he didn't know when my goods would be delivered to me in CA. I was furious at his callous disregard for moving my goods and asked him when was he going to notify me of these developments and of course things went downhill after that. I eventually had Allied pick up my things from Roy who charged me $150.00 to release my goods, and they were delivered to me 21 days later. Though instead of the 8 legs taken off by A line Movers from 2 dressers, I only had 7 legs delivered to CA. Good going Roy! 7/5/13:Called today to schedule an upcoming move to our new house-Was treated well by the nice lady (not Maria) that answered the phone but when we voiced a few minor concerns we had with our move last year by A-Line & to ask a few questions,she transferred the call to Roy,who abruptly and RUDELY told my husband "Sounds like you're going to be a problem,and I don't want your business,call Ray's Movers,they'll screw you harder" and hung up.TERRIBLE customer service,I will be sure to inform everyone I know about this horrible company and be sure to mention this on any/all customer review websites.Due to this,I have informed several friends and family members to NOT hire A-line..In a matter one single phone call,they lost ALOT of potential clients.Makes me wonder how many other people call there and get treated so POORLY.I wish I had read all the customer reviews before I called-thank goodness we didn't hire them.Unfortunately this website MAKES me rate them at least 1 star,I don't think they even deserve THAT.All in all,they SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I called this company to move me from Hobart to Indianapolis. I was asked if I could do Friday and I was told if I went with Friday that I would get a 10% discount. I was told that I had to pay a $100 deposit and I was fine with that I was told the $100 would be deducted from the overall fee. With unforeseen circumstances, I was not able to move as planned on Friday. I tried calling the company on Thursday evening and this company had no voicemail so I kept calling in the morning hoping I would catch the movers before they arrived at my house because I wanted to be CONSIDERATE. The movers were scheduled to be at my house at 8AM. At 7:45 I was able to get someone and the guy/mover was rude! He said I would lose out on the deposit and I stated why, no one had done anything. I said I still wanted to use them because I still had to move and all he did was yell at me. If this business was so hard up for $100 then by all means keep it! They would have made more money on a long distance trip had they let me explain my circumstance that did not allow me to move on that Friday. You have lost me as a customer and I hope karma comes back and bites you. This company needs to learn how to talk with people and understand that things happen. I didn't wait for the company to arrive at my house to tell them plans had changed; I called them at the company. I did say I wanted to use them again and he stated that what I tell my movers which would have been him and 1 other guy. I told him to say things happen and he was "RUDE" and to top it off hung up on me. I wished I didn't call them and let them come all the way to my house in Highland. That's what I should have done, but I'm not rude like them. No one said my deposit was non refundable and I don't understand how the guy would get all bent out of shape if he didn't do 'ANYTHING'!!!!! So enjoy the free $100 and I hope you lose business! It's not good business practice to make your customer's feel like crap, yell at them, hang up on them, and steal their money. We recently moved and had a few weeks gap between residences so we needed temporary storage for all our stuff. A-Line seemed like a great option because they just kept everything on the truck and delivered when we moved in to the new place. Moving out of the house was a great experience- we had 3 workers and they were very friendly and efficient. We were so happy with them I called to request that they come back when we moved into the new place. Maria (office lady) said that would be no problem as long as they were working that day. I even asked if she wanted their names and she said she could pull the names from our agreement. Three weeks later we moved into our new home. But, when A-Line arrived with our truck we had two movers (not the three we had signed up for) and neither of them were the movers that had helped us move out. We were charged a lower rate since only 2 movers showed up but it would have been nice to have a heads up we weren't receiving what we signed up for. Also, a few days after the move we need our snow shovel and discovered that it had not made it off the truck. Yes, we made the mistake of believing the movers that they were done and not inspecting the truck ourselves but when I called to report the missing item Maria was less than pleasant. She said the office was closed and she would have to get back to me at some point the following day. The next day came and went with no call. I called back two days later and when I mentioned the items missing Maria said 'I don't know what you are talking about you must have spoken to someone else'. When I reminded her that no in fact I did talk to her and she said she would have to call me back she suddenly remembered she forgot to call.
