A bit expensive and other of breaks while the payment clock keeps ticking plus lunch time. They didn't label the boxes with an idea of what is in them except generic labels like Kitchen, Bedroom, Basement, etc. Not useful. I asked them to keep the center aisle of my garage space clear and just stack the boxes along the 3 sides, but they did it their way and left no aisle space so now I can't get to anything without moving lots of boxes first to find one I want. Overall they were OK and they were nice and did the job but made my life harder trying to get to things. read more

He was there to load my family's belongings onto the moving truck and in Florida to deliver my goods to me. Krisi in the office was extremely helpful, upfront, and honest through the whole process. What a joke!! We found out last minute about our move and all the other movers were booked; them having an opening should've been a red flag, but we chanced it despite the negative reviews. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE MOVERS! They are unprofessional (I overheard one of the movers making racist remarks, they were arguing amongst each other about who was working harder even though us the customers were working the hardest, they made fun of one of our friends, and they even had the audacity to take multiple smoke breaks INSIDE THE TRUCK WITH MINE AND MY CHILDREN'S STUFF STILL INSIDE!!!), they moved with ZERO sense of urgency (again, we did most of the work hauling everything out to the driveway), and then we didn't notice until they left but they did not leave us our bed frame, and since our move was on a Saturday we can't even get in touch with anyone in the office until Monday! They took money off for the numerous breaks they took (the first one started less than 2 hours into the job), but over 5 hours for a move that would've taken Bills movers far less time. Again, if they are your only option, you'd be better off saving your money and finding some friends to help and renting a uhaul. Your back may not appreciate it, but your sanity and your wallet will! read more

I don't know where to even begin. Upon arriving at my home, after the introduction, I showed the movers what I had to move. The "guy in charge," told me that it would be no problem, and that we would only have to do one trip. I then asked them how long it would take, and the answer I got was 6 hours. How long did it really take? 11 hours and two trips. I spent the majority of the time watching my stuff because I had one of the three movers asking me how much I wanted for all the different items I had. That made us feel uncomfortable. So as we are unloading the first load I notice the movers moving my entertainment center on the concrete and scratched the whole thing. I was never offered an apology, just a "our manager will handle it." During the second load they dropped my Keurig and told my wife "it's your fault. You handed to me wrong." So as we got all the stuff loaded, I found all the movers standing around as my 65 and 66 year old mother and father-in-law was still moving the things we still had left. I had to ask them 4 times to finish loading the stuff that was left. I sold one of the movers a riding lawn mower that we had, and instead of coming back to get it later, her put it on the truck, and made us leave our remaining stuff at the house we moved out of. So I had to go back the next day and move that my self. Then a 15 min trip to drop off our stuff turned into a 1 hour trip. The said they got lost even though they had been there hours before, and they had instructions. I pulled up and found them on the side of the road pulled over, and I noticed that the mover that was following them earlier in his own personal car was gone. To this day we still have stuff missing. So in conclusion: my entertainment center, my Keurig, us having to move our own stuff, the movers stalling, missing items, bad service, rudeness. What did we get? $140 back and a letter that had no heartfelt apology. Just some corporate garbage. I am going on a campaign to tell the world not to use this company!!! read more

I read the reviews on Yelp and honestly got scared after hiring Ray's. Now that they're done, I had a completely different experience than the other reviewers. My movers were Tim and Kyle (I hope I got their names right). This pair of guys were great. They were able to perform my move with only 3 days notice, which was a relief for me since other movers were 2 weeks. They took great care with all my items by wrapping them in blankets and didn't so much as scuff a wall on pick up or delivery. They took only one 15-minute break on a very hot and sticky day. Possibly the most impressive thing to me was that even though I pre-paid for 5 hours, they worked quickly and finished early which got me a partial refund. They were friendly yet professional and put me at ease quickly with the care of my furniture. I wish I had known about them for the first part of my move which was a full 16-foot truck from Phoenix to Valpo I did myself. Though I can't speak for any other movers with Ray's, Tim and Kyle will be requested by me on any future moves I may have - and my wife, a realtor, will be suggesting them to her clients. read more

Recently moved out of Porter County. This company was GREAT! I highly recommend them! They were on time, courteous, and took good care of all of our belongings. We had 6 guys and 2 trucks in Porter county. At our destination, we had 4 guys to unload into storage units. They were very fair in pricing. I wish we had them to move our stuff out of the storage units into our new home. Unfortunately, too long of a commute! read more

The team consisted of three young men very respectful and courteous. I was only moving a couple houses down. It seem as though the team lead understood the process but appears something that could have been completed in 2 hours or less turned into 3.5 hours? Sound like padding the bill to me! The team was moving slow, bringing one item , then maybe two or three. I was so focus on the move I had to stop what I was doing to watch the movers. I asked why my items not being covered ? Where is the other mover? It's like when they've notice I'm asking questions their pace changed but unfortunately I didn't monitor close enough my bill was extremely high over 400 plus !? If you going to use a moving company make sure you have someone watching the time, the movers, and how their handling your furniture. read more

I would never use Rays movers or recommend to anyone. I moved from Illinois to Indiana, what a nightmare....I only moved a sofa, which got torn, two chairs, a small wine table with stools, and about 12 boxes two of which were full of glass items marked fragile which were completely unsalvageable. The glass tv stand on my 47 in plasma tv shattered. Not even sure about the tv as it is still in the box. They never wrapped anything, very unprofessional and slow, this moved cost me over $600. They left my old house before me and arrived at my new house 45 minutes after me. I was paying by the hour I feel like they stalled to pad the bill.. DO NOT USE ! read more

This company picked up our moving contract and contacted us about our move. We had had so many problems already that we were thankful to be dealing with real human beings. They assured us that everything would be okay! But on the night before our move, without so much as an email, they dropped our contract. They left us with a bill from our apartment for $300 (our move out fee) because we had to schedule our move out in a very strict window of time. They didn't return our phone calls. They nearly lost us the cost of our whole move. I'm really disappointed in what happened. I would never consider using such an unreliable company again. read more

Hired Rays Movers because they were affordable and available on short notice. The guys they sent out were nice amd careful with our things however it was discovered when we went back to clean up our old house that the entire shed we used for storage with the exception of 2 totes had been left behind even though they were closed top containers as requested. And my neighbor had out lawn mower and weed sacked at his place because the movers left it out in the middle of our yard. Was really disappointed thank goodness I am never moving again. read more

The entire move went smoothly thanks to Jerry and his partners Anton and AJ. Due to my underestimating the size of our move, we were assigned 2 men for the move. Thankfully, Jerry called in at the start of our move and got another mover assigned to our move. Our movers were fast, efficient and very hardworking. After moving some bedroom furniture, Jerry returned to me a ring that was found behind a dresser. I had no idea this ring was even missing!! This return of this ring speaks volumes for the integrity of our movers as well as the type of employees that Ray's employ. This move was kind of emotional because my mom was moving from the last home she shared with my late father. The movers were kind, caring and respectful of the huge change this was for my mom. I've used Ray's Movers 3 times personally for both local and long distance moves, and I'm totally at ease knowing I'll have Ray's again for another move in the coming months. I have referred Ray's to at least 7-8 other individuals all of whom have been THRILLED with their professional service, punctuality, and going above and beyond the call of duty. The service I've received from Ray's has been nothing short of impeccable. For example, prior to my last move I was very distraught and frankly could have done a much better job preparing. Not only did the movers help me pack my items the day of the move but they offered to separately wrap individual cables I had for electronic items so there was no risk of damage. This is just one of the many examples I have of Ray's going the extra mile. They went over every detail of my move with me before, during, and after completion so there were no surprises. I would give them 0 stars if I could. They have terrible customer service! They canceled on me 3 days before my move. I communicated with them via email confirming my booking but stating I just had a few questions about payment since they said they didn't take credit card on the weekends and rather than respond to my voice message and 3 emails trying to get an answer to my questions they just booked with someone else. Beware of this mover! I would look elsewhere! I ended up using Two Men and a Truck and while they were a bit more expensive they are more reliable. read more

We just used Ray's to move from Spring Lake Michigan to Valparaiso Indiana. The move was unique, in that it was outside the local move radius and yet not far enough to be considered a long haul move. Ray's stepped outside the box and did the move anyway. Their expertise, professionalism, attention to detail, promptness and ability to go the extra mile to get the job done is unparalleled. Chrissy, their front office personnel, was accommodating to a schedule change I needed and followed up at every juncture of the move. We moved a 4 bedroom home splitting items between a storage facility and the apartment complex to include a professional snap on tool box ensemble. They did all this with my wife directing as I was unfortunately called out of town for work. I cannot thank them enough for their fantastic work ethic and care taken with all our personal possessions. We are both in high priority customer service positions, and like to recognize those that provide a level of service and commitment to detail at the highest levels. I would stay away from this company at all cost. They were used by Colonial lines as a broker. Jon, came out was very nice did a day of packing and had to leave for another job. When he left the trouble began. His replacement guy who was the driver and loaded the truck was borderline nuts (we were told he was later fired). His workers walked out in the middle of the job. He then had to get another "brokered" set of workers that destroyed the wooden floor. They admitted they did it, (we saw them). Took photos. We had three estimates to repair the floor. There was also damaged done to our belongings. Colonial says Rays is responsible (which I tend to agree) since they had to hire last minute workers from Seattle, Ray's is saying Colonial is responsible. Bottom line we had to pay the $3500 for the floor repair. They spend most of their time defending, deflecting and denying. Chrissy, the office manager wont return calls, and it seems her job is just to put you off long enough that you will go away. We are contacting the county consumer agency in Griffith, IN to address this issue. Ray's did the damage, they wont take responsibility. I would not under any circumstance use this company. read more
