Fried dough dipped in sugar...hits the spot! Nice central location that's been at Waikele Shopping Center since the 2000's. The red & white striped lunch wagon is iconic to see from the freeway & gets all my kids excited & asking if we can stop. There's numerous lunch wagons after Petco & Leonards is between Laverne's & Mountain Shave Ice. You can order original sugar, cinnamon or li hing mui (local fave) for $2.20/ea. Or $2.70/ea if you want it filled w/haupia, custard or dobash (Kapahulu has more options). It's a better deal to buy 6, 12, 18 or 24 pieces. There is a wait since they make it fresh. The employees do their job, but aren't chatty with customers, which is a mix of locals and tourists. Don't forget to roll your malasada in the sugar on the bottom if any part of it is bare!!. Happy grinding!
Ample parking. Convenient if you're in the area. This wagon does not have the flavor of the month malasada. And they are debit/credit card only, no cash.
If you need malasadas, you gotta go to this truck!!! This Leonard's malasada food truck at Waikele Shopping Center is hands-down my favorite place to grab fresh malasadas! Located with all the other food trucks near Pet Co, this spot seriously beats the original location for me because they make all their malasadas fresh to order. I love how fresh it tastes and they are consistently hot and perfect. Today I got a box of six regular malasadas which was about $12. Pro tip: you have to eat them right then and there for the best taste. Trust me on this! There's no seating, but the service is fast, the staff is friendly, and the quality is unbeatable. If you're in the area, don't skip this food truck--it's the best!
This food truck is convenient if you are on the west side of Oahu near Waikele. You'll find it next to Lowe's in the parking lot. They make the malasadas fresh to order. Service was quick and efficient even if you see a line out front. Eat these malasadas fresh for the best flavor and texture. We ate ours out of the back of our Jeep!
We stopped by the food truck park to grab some grub on our way back to our hotel. There was a small line and the bit of a wait to receive my malasadas but it was worth the drive, the entire trip, to taste these amazing pastries. They are served hot and fresh! I got a custard, and plain one. It is so crisp yet pillowy soft inside. I love how tender the dough is. Thank you to the family who brought these Portuguese donuts to the masses, they have become so popular, they are a Hawaiian icon and staple.
Everyone told me that Leonard's Malasadas were the best. I had to go see if they were right. Yup! They were. They make them hot and fresh while you wait. And it isn't a long wait at all. Five minutes tops. They are I think like 2.50 each but if you buy 6, they are $2.00 each. You get to try one of each. I paid $4.50 for ONE Holy Grail Donut. When I can get tasty malasadas why buy an overpriced donut. When you are on Oahu go get yourself a malasadas...or 6!
Stopped here in the early afternoon after we went to breakfast, and there was no line. We ordered six traditional and one custard, and they came out piping hot in the cute pink box. They are cashless so be prepared for that. It's in the back area of a parking lot, and the other trucks are all conned off, so that helps. There is also nowhere to sit, so don't plan to stay here unless you're eating in your car.
What a delightful treat after hiking Koko Crater! We'd heard about Leonard's Bakery from multiple people, along with the long lines, so finding this little Leonard's mobile wagon was a delightful surprise. We learned that malasadas are Portuguese fried donuts and I don't think I've ever had a donut I don't like. Leonard's mobile wagon malasadas were fresh and hot. We tried a variety, original sugar with haupia (coconut filling), original sugar without filling, and cinnamon sugar without filling. Each one was absolutely yummy! A perfect post-hike snack, and we'll definitely be back!
10/10 would recommend hot portuguese donuts with multiple fillings to choose from Fresh from the truck I want more now.
You could never go wrong with Leonard's as a dessert or even breakfast item. I've been to several locations and mobile wagons and they've all lived up to the hype and quality. Huge fan of their custard and Dobash malasada. The malasada's are inexpensive and worth grabbing a half dozen or even a whole dozen. I could easily down 2-3 within minutes. I will add to others reviews about their hours, be warned that it is not 100% guaranteed. I got there this morning, but they were closed at 7:45. They had a sign stating that they wouldn't open until 8:30. Sad we couldn't get our Leonards fix early in the AM
This is the only kind of breakfast worth waking up for and immediately hitting the road to pick these up and demolish My favorites are plain, cinnamon, coconut, custard, or guava filling depending on the sweetness I'm going for. The coconut filling is not too sweet and just a hint of coconuts. LiHing flavor when I'm feeling sassy and have a cold bevvy to go with it.
As much as I like to go to the store I went to growing up in Kapahulu, the mobile "food truck" style still does a great job. I know there is one in Waikele and one in Koko Marina shopping center. You have to eat these hot to really enjoy them. There are lots of options but the original is what made them famous so I'd definitely get those. The filled ones are good, but not as good, to me, as the original. Enjoy!
I love this truck ! It's so much faster than the regular Leonard's location and they make it fresh and hot as you order it. There was no line and I got my malasadas within 5 minutes. If you're in the area I would recommend coming here instead (unless you want a picture with the Leonard's sign).

Very fresh malasadas. Amazing texture and smell right out of the fryer. Not as sweet as the ones and Aulani, and I actually liked them less. Must eat while still warm, they ending travel well. Preferred the plain ones to the other flavor options. read more
Its been awhile eating Leonards Malasadas. So i took the Waikele cut off and went straight to Leonards Malasada wagon. I ordered a dozen original malasadas 2 separate boxes. 1 for my Ohana and 1 for my good friends. I guess i went at a good time. Only 1 person was waiting for her order. Took about 8mins. So wasnt to bad. It was very tasty. And yes i would go back again. read more

Was told I needed to try this out but was hesitant because I don't really like sweets. So glad I decided to still go, I got the original and the one filled with haupia. I wish I got two of the one filled with haupia. They were both so good. Must eat while still warm. read more

Doughnuts with holes are overrated. These malasadas were on point. So on point that we had to come here twice. These beautiful pillows of goodness were worth every bite. We've had pateis de nata...but never a malasada. Crunchy on the outside, super soft and pillowy on the inside. Pick your choice of sugar on the outside and pick your filling on the inside. We tried one of everything. My fave? The custard filled with the haupia a close second. They have multiple locations including a storefront but this truck was most convenient for us. They're a little over a dollar each. Served hot. A must stop if you're visiting Oahu. read more

The malasadas are always fresh! They are busy throughout the day and sometimes the line is very long but it usually goes by quickly. The staff members are not too talkative but they're polite and are always smiling. There's ample parking within the vicinity. read more
Ya'll. This is the sweet treat you need in your life! A warm, sugary, perfect combination of donut and funnel cake.. just a little cloud of heaven! Original is just the fried doughy deliciousness coated in sugar, but there's also a cinnamon sugar coated and a li hing coated (think sweet n spicy combo, a little like tamarindo candy). Or you can get them filled with custard, chocolate, or coconut cream. I tried all but the coconut cream.. they were all AMAZING. If you're around Aeia/Pearl City, look for the red striped truck and STOP THERE, trust me! Day later update: make sure you enjoy them fresh! Not an "eat some now, save some for later" type of treat. My version of pau hana. I can always depend on Leonard's for consistently delicious malasadas. These fried, crispy, fluffy balls of dough coated in sugar is the perfect dessert (or snack). Be careful what you ask for. I always ask for extra sugar on mine and they deliver. It adds an extra crunch and each bite will be extra sweet. If you've never had a malasada before, go. Because the regular store was overwhelmed with a huge line as we drove past, we came across the mobile truck by accident. Because there were only a few people here this was quick. I tried the Li Hing and was surprised with the contrast of sour and sweet in each bite, but I would buy it again. Better yet was the haupia filled, this was very delicious, and I would recommend this for all coconut lovers. If you find it, make a stop and you wont be disappointed. read more
Oh....wow! It can be hard to find malasadas sometimes, but Leonard's truck surs right out in the front corner of a shopping parking lot with eye catching colors. We were going to get one each...and came away with one of every kind...6. They were made fresh after we ordered. Once fooled a bit, we dug in and were happy to have found this place! Yes, Hawaii was beautiful...the water, the beaches, the wonderful Hawaiian people, but one of the best things in Oahu is this treasure...Leonard's Malasada Mobile truck. Don't you dare go all the way to Oahu and then NOT visit this place! They had the most amazing flavors...my favorites were Coconut...( of course...it's Hawaiii, hello), chocolate and guava. Malasada 5/5 Service 2/5 Cleanliness 2/5 Bottom line: yes, they have good malasadas. If it wasn't for the malasadas and convenient location, I wouldn't go here. Their truck is dirty. They're service is crap. They aren't friendly at all. They take extremely long aka are very slow. The lady at the register barely says a word - no hello when you walk up to the window. No thank you when you pay. No here's your receipt. Nothing. My theory is, this is a very interactive job so please put a smile on your face at least. Or don't work at the front. Such a bad vibe. If there's ever a line I won't even bother because they're too slow. Which is majority of the time, so I only go right when they open. Anyway, good malasadas lol. read more
I've had other Malasadas before but these are so delicious! Made fresh and warm and stuffed with creamy goodness. I'll admit the place is hard to find! We were driving in circles but finally bumped into it by driving around the parking lot. It's by the petco! We came in the late afternoon so there was no line and made it easy and got the box of 6. I saved some for the next morning and ate them with coffee after popping it into the microwave for about 45 seconds each. My fave is the chocolate! Must try! read more
Malasadas were pretty good. Have been wanting to try one for a long time. Prefer the chocolate and cinnamon sugar- didn't care at all for the sweet and sour! Interestingly the chocolate filling was similar to chocolate pudding! Once again the Hens and roosters were aggressively trying to cop their share of food too! read more

Always a go to for fresh, hot malasadas. This location usually has a shorter line as it's not in town. I always go for custard filled ones as the others usually taste too dry for my liking, but they still do taste fresh. The custard filling and coconut creme filling are continued staples in all of my orders. Worth the try!! read more
Yet another highly recommended Hawaiian stop crossed off! Leonard's is one of the most reviewed dessert shops on the island, and we had to give it a try. It's a lot dingier inside than I expected, but they have a lot of cute Leonard's branded merchandise. Malasadas remind me a lot of the sweet Chinese donuts you can find at Chinese buffets. I'm actually a huge fan of those little donuts, so I expected malasadas to taste very similar...and they do! We ordered the macadamia nut, vanilla, cinnamon, guava, and regular malasadas. I didn't like the cream-filled malasadas at all. The cream was just a bit too dense and artificial-tasting. My favorite was the original malasadas. I also bought two cupcakes because they looked good on display, but I regret buying them. They were also dry and the cream was hard. I would come again to get a whole box of their original malasadas, but I'm afraid that's the only thing I liked from Leonard's. read more
We've been wanting to try the malasadas but the original store near Waikiki always has a line out the door and wrapped around the corner (like an hour wait). So we found their food truck by a shopping center on our way to Hanauma bay and we stopped. Their are quite delicious and a special treat for sure. They are worth a try but most certainly not an hour wait. read more

Malasada goodness!!! Go with the original - sugar coated beautiful balls of dough that are perfectly fried and seem to always hit the spot. There are a handful of Leonard's trucks on the island plus the bakery in Honolulu, so it's easy to find some of these awesome treats wherever you are on the island. Definitely worth the drive! read more

Was recommended by an Oahu native, but stumbled across Leonard's brick and mortar while picking up sandwich next door. Line was crazy long, so I left. Headed towards Au'lani's, came across Leonard's wagon in a line up of food trucks. No lines. Got one of each flavor (li hing, custard filled, chocolate filled & original). The wait was over to try these babies. Overhyped IMO. Nothing special about the donuts except the dusting of li hing sugar, which barely tasted like it anyway. I tried, onto the next infamous donut spot to see what's worthy of going back. read more

What's not to love about Leonard's malasadas?! Fresh, piping hot malasadas that are irresistible. We were so excited when we saw the mobile wagon that were had to stop. We grabbed 6 malasadas (3 sugar, 3 cinnamon sugar). My husband ate one on the way back to the hotel. Sorry rental car company for the malasada sugar you're gonna find in the car...lol! read more
These fluffy pillows are pure heaven. They come out piping hot, always made fresh and filled to order. The texture is perfect, so light and airy, sweet but not too sweet. Just a perfect malasada. My recommendation is getting the cinnamon sugar, and the coconut filled. Those were our favorites. And unfortunately they're not great reheated the next day so that means you need to eat them all in one sitting. read more

Made it before 5:00 pm. Don't make the mistake of cutting it close. They kindly make the last person in line hold the sign "I am the last person in line." Don't be like the Auntie we saw, have no shame and ask the sign holder if she can cut. Savage. Leonard and his crew gotta go home, too. Geeeeez! Annnyyyywayyy...we tried the cinnamon, original, and the dobash (chocolate) puff. Delicious and always served hot. Always worth the wait. We on island time. We couldn't finish since our eyes were clearly bigger than our stomach so nuke it for 15 seconds & you have a quick snack. Yummmm! read more

The malasadas are piping hot and fresh at this wagon. Filled and non filled you can't go wrong. A dozen to bring home to family so they can enjoy coffee. They will love you more for a few days trust me. Staff is masked up. Covid safety is a must. Try a classic if you're ever nearby for a sugary crispy treat. read more

My first time having a malasada and it was amazing!! The flavors are out of this world. The line was long but moved quickly and left you with fresh hot malasadas! We also tried the original (not pictured) and that was just as delicious as the Li Hing and Dobash. Definitely a must when in Hawaii! read more

Needed to pick up some treats before visiting another work office... thats just local Hawaiian style tradition. Lucky for me Leonards malasadas is one of those go-to items for that purpose and they open at 7:00am. So i grabbed my coffee from Starbucks across the street at 6:45 amd waited till 7am and sure enough the service window popped open. Ordered my dozen cinnamon, 6 original and 6 li-hing for the adventurous type and in 12 minutes... boo yah! fresh hot malasasas to win over some brownie points. read more
Have you ever played Pokémon Sun and Moon and wanted to try a real malasada? Enough geeking out from me, the malasadas at Leonard's are both freshly made and yummy. It's these pastries that are like cream filled donuts but they're different. If you just want malasadas check out the food truck rather than the bakery. read more
Comfort food therapy... I saw Leah's check in here at Leonard's Malasada Mobile Wagon. It was a special message for me... I was at the doctor's office, just down the road from this Food Truck! The location was the parking lot of Pearlridge in the Sears Wing, by Zippy's. Hmmm... only 0.2 miles away... I made a deal with myself. This will be your reward after enduring an hour of waiting for the doctor to arrive. After my doctor sent me away to get an xray elsewhere, I detoured to this Malasadamobile to cure my hunger and give myself a treat! These malasadas do not let you down. They are consistently fresh, hot, and delicious with a golden brown crisp, sugary outer layer that surrounds the soft, moist, pillowy pastry... YUMMM! The combination of textures is positively overwhelming in a good way! I don't care what happens to me next! I am so happy from this little Portuguese donut! I know that there are other flavors such as cinnamon and li hing mui... and there are malasadas spilled with custard or chocolate or haupia (coconut)... but I'm satisfied with the original, plain sugar coating... mmm! Thank you, Leonard's for being so convenient and reliable! I didn't have to drive to Waikele or Kapahulu. I'm so glad you were in Pearlridge today! read more

Do they stay at 1 spot all the time? Since they are on a truck. My concern is that they will move to places
I think this particular food truck does not move. I always see every time I drive past. The other Leonard's truck is actually mobile. I used to see it in Kaneohe at certain days/times only.
Is the malasadas still good , the mobile wagon in waikele areA?
All mobile wagons are good, waikele location get busy once it opens .
